Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has suspended the enforcement of the vehicle tinted glass permit. The Force announced on Wednesday that the decision was taken following a court order to that effect.
The announcement was made by the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, during an interview on AIT.
Adeh disclosed that the Force is a respecter of the law and would not do anything to show disrespect to the court, saying the suspension remains on the court makes a decision on the issue.
She said, “Information reaching me from the office of the PRO is that the order has been received and the enforcement of the tinted permit is now on hold pending the court’s verdict,
“We are waiting for the verdict. We are not against the courts, and we will continue to wait until we get a verdict.”
She stressed that the Force did not make the law which which tinted glass permit mandatory, adding that they are just enforcing what the law says, she dismissed suggestions that police are using the matter to extort money from the public, noting that whatever is made from enforcement is paid directly into the coffer of the federal government.
“The law was not made by us. We are enforcers. The policy was purely security-driven. Some criminals were using tinted vehicles to commit offenses, making it difficult for law enforcement to identify suspects.”
