There is brewing crisis in the 10th Senate led by Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio.

At plenary Tuesday, Akpabio and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume engaged each other in a heated argument, prompting Ndume to walk out of the Red Chamber back to his office.

Sources within the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly disclosed that the shouting row between Akpabio and Ndume was as result of certain decisions taken by the former Akwa Ibom State Governor which Ndume stood up to complain about.

Ndume had raised a point of order, citing order 54 of the Senate Rule Book to draw the attention of the Senate President to his handling of affairs in the chambers which he pointed out were against the rules.

He said: “Mr. President there are some things we do in this chamber that are against the rules. Sir, nobody is too big to learn.”

Akpabio hardly allowed Ndume to end his speech, when he ruled him out of order.

An enraged Ndume then stormed out of the chamber and went straight to his office, prompting the Senate to decide to hold an Executive Session.

Ndume was called back by colleagues for the Executive Session.

Akpabio, in recent weeks, have been having brushes with a number of his colleagues over his handling of affairs at plenary.
