Governor Dairus Ishaku, the perennially absentee governor of Taraba state, has survived an impeachment scare. The governor has been out of the state for over two months.
Comfortably resident in Abuja, he governs the state from there, and even, allegedly, had the state budget sent to him in there for signatory.
For Taraba state, it is a lose-lose situation. Bombarded by herdsmen and bandits from all corners, the state’s Chief Security Officer had abandoned the people to their fate.
Criticisms have trailed the leadership of the PDP, over the governor’s absence from the state. His often mouthed non-performance has given the state chapter of the APC to go to town with him, asking him to quit office. He is of the PDP.
But, interestingly, and, to the surprise of political observers and analysts, the Taraba State House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on the governor.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the House Deputy Speaker, and member representing Bali II Constituency, Hon. Harman Adama, during plenary at the State House of Assembly.
