President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs the support and prayers of Nigerians to succeed, according to George Moghalu, a Labour Party, LP chieftain.
Moghalu’s party lost the presidential election to the All progressives Congress, APC last year. The party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi lost to Tinubu after coming a distant third.
Since President Tinubu came to power last year, the country has faced economic instability, blamed on the policies of the APC led government.
The opposition, including LP has blamed the APC administration for the challenges facing the country, saying, for instance, that its policies have no human face.
Moghalu, however, said the economic challenges can be entirely negotiable blamed on President Tinubu, saying he could not have performed magic considering the state of the nation’s economy when he came to office in 2023.
He said what the president required to succeed is the prayers of Nigerians considering the enormity of the problems he inherited.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, quoted Moghalu as saying “I’ll keep praying for the president because the challenges are enormous. The difficulty in the land is alarming and people are feeling it.”
He added, “So, my prayer is that God should give him the wisdom, help him, strengthen him with good health so that he will be able to see how he can alleviate the sufferings in the land.
“While I agree that the time is too short for us to expect magical results, I still believe that something has to be done to reduce the pressure on the people.
“As to whether there’s difficulty in the land, there’s difficulty, and the challenges were not necessarily caused by the president.
“But one thing you must understand is that once the buck stops on your table, you must take all the blame and also take all the credits.”
