The Soccer World has been thrown into mourning.
Just a few days after all top European Leagues, Asian Leagues, South American Leagues and some African Leagues postponed activities due to the outbreak of the deadly epidemic called Coronavirus, the Round Leather Game has lost a promising youngster from the Spanish League.
21-year old footballer, Francisco Garcia, of Spanish Club Side, Atletico Portada Alta, has lost the battle to the deadly epidemic, also, known as COVID-19.
Garcia, who is now the youngest person to die from the virus in Malaga, was already suffering from leukaemia before he tested positive to the disease.
Local reports from Spain, quoting the health authorities, said he would not have died from coronavirus if he did not have leukaemia.
A club statement announcing the death of the footballer reads: “From Atletico Cotada Alta, we want to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and relatives of our player and coach, Francisco Garcia, who has left us, unfortunately, unfortunately, today.
“What do we do without you now, Francis? Yes you were always with us on the Cover or wherever needed, helping.
“How are we going to keep conquering miles in the league? We know how, but we sure will, for you.
“We will never forget you, rest in peace phenomenon. See you forever.”
Sending their condolence message to the Club, Second division side, Malaga Football Club tweeted: “From the Club we want to transfer to @AtlPortadaAlta Our deepest condolences for the loss of one of his technicians, Francisco García, as well as sending a warm hug to his family and friends.
“Together we must stop the #COVID-19.”
This is the first time a footballer died as a result of the deadly disease, creating fear and panic among footballers, managers and Club Sides.
But the prospects of medical experts and researchers who are optimistic of getting the vaccines to cure the disease in the coming days, have given millions of people respite that the disease will soon be curtailed and become history.
