Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has slammed the Police for allegedly killing two members of the O’dua Peoples Congress, OPC, during the fracas that ensued between them in Ojota, Lagos, early today.
Taking to his Social Media the Publisher of Sahara Reporters wrote, “Bloodthirsty Nigeria Police Force reportedly killed two Yoruba Nation agitators at a peaceful rally in Ojota, Lagos today. I totally condemn this unprovoked murder of peaceful demonstrators. ”
But Benjamin Hundeyin, the Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, said contrary to reports that two persons died, that it was only one person that was confirmed dead during the fracas, adding that some of the protesting individuals had attacked the Police.
The OPC members who were also members of self-determination group “Yoruba Nation” gathered at Ojota, Lagos for a rally earlier today, and in the course of this, there was an unrest that led to a fracas between the group and the Police.
However, the OPC Leader, who is also the Aare Onakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, said there were no OPC members at the scene of the incident. And that the OPC had nothing to do with the protest and subsequent riot and loss of life.
