Sokoto Tribunal Bars Journalists, Upholds Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s Election, APC Jubilates

The Justice Haruna Msheila led -three man Panel at the Sokoto State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has affirmed the victory of Governor Ahmed Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship Candidate, Saidu Umar had challenged the victory of Governor Aliyu at the March 18th, 2023 Governorship Election in the State.

According to the Panel, the petitioners failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.

Before the Tribunal ruling, Journalists not working for State and National media platforms were not allowed into the courtroom.

The Head, Directorate of the State Security Services, while addressing Journalists at the Court, said only Journalists working for the state-owned media and those of the Nigerian Television Authority would be allowed into the court chamber.
