Six Killed As Police Raids, Dismantles Suspected IPOB/ESN In Imo

The Police authorities, on Saturday, announced the killing of some suspected Indigenous Peoples of Biafra IPOB/ Eastern Security Network ESN members in  Ihube, Okigwe Local 3 Council of Imo State.

Among the neutralized persons were, allegedly, three notorious kingpins ,and three members of their gangs.

A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer FPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, informed that the  suspected terrorists were killed in an  operation conducted by the Tactical Unit of the Imo State Police Command on Friday, January, 24, 2025, in their hideout in a forest at Ihube, Okigwe Local Council of Imo State.

The operation, according to him, was preceded by a receipt of actionable intelligence on the criminal activities of the  suspects.

The Police Spokesperson gave the names of the three neutralized notorious terror lords as: 28-year old Ifeanyi Anayo a.k.a Zuma De Rock, Chukwuemeka Odionyenfe,  otherwise known as Nmimi 22, and 21-year old Kingsley Sunday, all of Ogube, Ihube in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

The Police noted that the suspects were deeply involved in several high profile criminal activities in Imo State which includes the April 5, 2021, audacious attack on the  Owerri Correctional Centre.

They were also said to have masterminded the gruesome killings of five Police Operatives in Umunna, Okigwe, on December 12, 2022, as well as the razing of Arondizuogu Police formation on February, 8, 2022.

The Police Spokesperson noted that the suspects and their gang members, also, were involved in many abductions of innocent residents, including WAEC Staff in June 5, 2023,four Reverend Sisters on August, 21, 2022, and four Chinese nationals on December 6, 2023.

Five AK-47 riffles, 552 rounds of live ammunition, improvised explosive devices IEDs, 8 motorcycles and communication equipment were said to have been recovered from  them during the operation .
