At his regular beat at Badore Ajah, Seun, an Inspector of Police, Traffic Section, was usually the cynosure of all eyes. Very popular, Lagosians, including private and commercial vehicle drivers loved him. And so did tricycle (Keke) and motorcycle (Okada) operators.

He did his job with passion. He loved it. And for that, everybody loved him. On their own, they extended goodwill to him. But, all that came to an end Tuesday of last week.

Seun was an officer at the Langbasa Divisional headquarters, Lagos. After the day’s work, he left for home having rested a bit in his office. He was close to his destination – Ajiwe Police Station where he had served before – a stone throw to where he lived, Oloko Nla, near Ajah, when a trailer driver lost control of his vehicle, after a  tyre burst, veered onto Seun’s lane, and crushed him. His vehicle was reduced to a mangle of steel.

Efforts by the trailer driver and passers-by to rescue and save him were in vain.

He passed-on at about 4.00am to the shock of family, friends, associates and colleagues.
