“Senator Mbata Chides Wike: If You Like, Shout From Now Till Eternity, There Is Only One Governor In  Rivers State”

The President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Senator Azuta Mbata, late Tuesday evening, December 30, 2025, chided  the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister Nyesom Wike, over  his unbridled and inordinate disrespect to the person and office of the  Governor of Rivers State.

This is as the acclaimed entranged political Wike’s political godfather, reminded him that Rivers State has only one Governor –  Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

Mbata’s position is coming on the heels of Wike’s recent relentless attacks and public denigration of Governor Fubara and his office.

The Source reports that the FCT Minister has been using the platform presented by  his thank-you-visit to some local councils of Rivers which began last weekend to make both derogatory and incendiary remarks against the Rivers state Governor, including threatening to deny him the All Progressive Congress, APC, 2027 gubernatorial ticket.

In Bori, Khana Local Government Area on Tuesday December 30, 2025, Wike vowed to initiate moves that will see Governor Fubara out of the State’s seat of power in 2027, declaring that Rivers state will not make the mistake it made in the leadership selection processes in 2023.

The FCT Minister had  last weekend in Ahoada West and Ahoada East warned Governor Fubara against claiming to be the leader of the APC in Rivers state, even though Wike is not (yet) a member of the party.

Instructively, despite his expulsion by the Governor Bala Mohammad and Seyi Makinde-backed PDP leadership, Wike has continued to claim to be a loyal and committed member of the PDP.

The Ohaneze Ndigbo President-General who spoke on Tuesday at the occasion of the 2025 Eneka Day Celebration held in Obio/Akpor Local Council of Rivers state ,noted that no matter what anybody feels or thinks , Fubara remains the only Governor of Rivers State.

“There is only one Governor in Rivers State, whether you like it or not. If you like, shout from now to tomorrow” Mbata stated .

Although he did not specifically mentioned names, his short remarks,  which  nevertheless was aimed at  responding to Wike’s recent attacks and threats against Governor Fubara, resonated deeply with the people who cheered thunderously.

The Source reports that the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide leader who is from the same Ikwerre block of the State as Wike, is widely believed to be the ladder through which the FCT navigated the murky waters of Rivers politics.
