He murdered three youths in one fell swoop by shooting them, as they watched helplessly, one after the other, and is believed to be behind the abduction of Hon. Ngozi Ogbu
Barely 48 hours after the Imo state Government and Police authorities tightened the noose on criminal elements within the Okigwe Local Government Area axis, the Nigeria Military has arrested Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, a Commander of the Eastern Security Network ESN, one of the notorious and most dreaded member of the Auto-Pilots militia group led by the now-jailed Simon Ekpa.
The interception of Okorienta, popular as “Gentle Yahoo” . believed to be behind several high-profile attacks , kidnappings and killings in the Okigwe Local Council area of Imo state ,is coming on the heels of the abduction of Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, a former member of the Imo state House of Assembly who was also Chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the spokesperson for the Imo state police Command Henry Okoye, Hon Ogbu was kidnapped on September 7,2025 while on his way home for the burial ceremony of his late mother..
“The Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma has since ordered the immediate deployment of the Command’s Tactical Units ,in synergy with other security agencies ,and detailed investigation has been launched to apprehend the hoodlums ,and ensure the safe rescue of the law maker who was abducted at Onuimo on 07/09/2025” Okoye stated
The police response came almost the same time the Imo State Government vowed to do everything
possible to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of Hon Ogbu .
Not a few people are of the strong belief that Gentle Yahoo and his gang members may be behind the abduction of Hon Ogbu ,who is still being held hostage.
The Imo Government also warned that it cannot be blackmailed or stampeded into abdicating its constitutional role of providing adequate security and protection for the residents.
Ogbu’s abductors had, curiously, in a viral video which showed their victim, insisted on the dismantling of the security framework around the Council as a major precondition for his release.
Although no official statement had been issued both by the Imo State Government and Security agencies as at the time of reporting, a military source, however, confirmed Okorienta arrest.
According to the source, the notorious terrorist was Intercepted during a major operation carried out by multiple security agencies on Tuesday September 16,in the Okigwe Local Government Area which is his strongholdþ.
“Gentle Yahoo ” as he is popularly addressed was said to have been smoked out of his fortified Aku-Ihube , Okigwe hideout by operatives of the joint security team
His arrest is said to be perceived as a major breakthrough in the fight against criminality, violent attacks,and killings in Imo State.
The dreaded terrorist leader, believed to be a strong member of the Ekpa -led murderous Auto-Pilots militia group in viral video recently was showed supervising the execution of two of his gang members as well as the gruesome killing of local vigilante leader and members of his family.
A military source revealed that Gentle Yahoo will be made to face the full weight of the law.
