Former National Youths Service Corps, NYSC ,Director General, Brig, Gen Mharazu Tsiga is among those abducted by bandits in Katsina state, the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports.
The incident which occurred today around midnight, took place in Tsiga town in Bakori Local Government Area, LGA, where the criminals also snatched some unspecified number of persons.
The state is one of the epicenters of kidnapping and banditry in the north west part of the country, and the problem has been further exacerbated because the governor, Muazu-Danmusa of vowed not to negotiate with criminals as part of the government concerted efforts to stamp out criminality.
According to NAN, eyewitnesses said the bandit stormed the community with dangerous weapons, but were confronted by the people of the area who killed one of the bandits.
The state police command said the incident has been reported when contacted, saying he could not provide more details.
Spokesperson of the command Abubakar Aliyu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said” I am yet to be briefed on the facts of the reports. I’ll get back to you as soon as I get the details please.
” Yes, there was a reported case of abduction in Tsiga town but we are yet to fully ascertain who and who was kidnapped.”
