Ndigbo in Rivers state has vowed to resist any attempt to deny them the opportunity to produce the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The development comes following the search for the successor of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of the group who died on July 25, 2024.
As the search for his successor continues, Igbo in Rivers state have make a case for one of their own to be the next Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General, saying it’s their turn.
The call was made by the Alaigbo Development Foundation, ADF, in a statement issued on Wednesday by the president of the group Coleman Chukwudelunzu.
The group said it will resist internal and external influences to ensure that the dream, for one of their own to lead the umbrella body of Igbo worldwide is realised, the quest whih it said is in line with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo constitution.
“Whoever wants to deny our brothers in Rivers State their right to produce the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is an enemy of Ndigbo and the Igbo nation. We must resist them,” ADF President said.
The next election for the group’s next president is billed for January 2025.
