The immediate past Governor of Kaduna state has advised the National Security Adviser, NSA, to examine himself to ensure that his memory is still very intact.
The former governor’s attack against Ribadu, a former Chairman of the EFCC, comes in the wake of recent denial by Ribadu that he described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a corrupt person many years ago.
The NSA’s made the denial after human righst activist and Knao-based politician Najatu Mohammed slammed him for working under a president he once accused of corruption.
Following Najatu’s remark, in a now viral video on You-tube, Ribadu demanded a retraction, failure which they will both meet in the court to clear the air on the matter.
According to Mohammed, the NSA made the accusation while he was EFCC boss under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2007.
Tinubu was the governor of Lagos state at the time.
In his reaction to Ribadu’s rebuttal, El rufai, who served in that administration as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, said the former EFCC boss made the remark at the time, noting that government records will prove him right.
According to him, Ribadu made the accusations against the former Lagos state governor, at one of high level government meetings, adding that the evidence could be found in the records in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF and the Nigerian Senate.
For Ribadu not to have remembered or denied he called Tinubu corrupt, the former governor said he’s lying and must be suffering from serious amnesia.
El rufai said, “The record of proceedings in the Senate will confirm that Nuhu made those statements, sometime in 2006.
‘’The subsequent Daily Trust report of February 2007, reconfirms the essence of the statements.
“The conclusions of the Federal Executive Council in 2006, which can be subpoenaed from the cabinet secretariat of the SGF’s office contain the allegations.
‘’In that special FEC meeting in which I was a member, Nuhu’s EFCC made similar presentations accusing many sitting officials, sometime in 2006. These council conclusions will further remove all doubts.
“This is for the record and to remind the morally-flexible that at some point in our national life, silence is no longer golden,” a report in the Daily Trust newspaper on Wednesday quoted El-Rufai as saying.
Recall that Elrufai and Ribadu were once allies and very influential in the Obasanjo’s administration between 1999 and 2007.
