The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the commencement of a full scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder of a Bauchi housewife by her husband over disagreements arising from preparations of Ramadan fast meal Saturday night.
A statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakili, CSP, informed that Operatives have arrested one Nuru Isah, a 50-year old businessman for, allegedly, beating his second wife, 24-year old Wasila Abdullahi to death over altercations concerning the ingredients, and fruits to be used in breaking their fast.
According to the Police, the unfortunate incident occurred at about 11.30 pm on Saturday March 1 ,2025, in Fadama Mada area, close to the Government Girls College in Bauchi metropolis
Although a comprehensive inquest has been instituted, the police authorities said that preliminary findings have shown that Isah, the husband, allegedly, assaulted his younger wife following the escalation of their disagreement over the Ramadan meals preparations.
The suspect, a businessman at the Bauchi Central Market, according to the police statement was said to have flogged the deceased wife with a cane, leading to her collapse and subsequent death.
She was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where she was rushed to for medical attention.
“Police have arrested the suspect and recovered the cane used in the assault as evidence.
“The victims body has been deposited in the mortuary pending an autopsy”, the police statement also reads .
Meanwhile ,the State Police Commissioner, CP Auwal Musa Mohammad, has emphasized the need for people to shun domestic violence, and to uphold respect, empathy and mutual understanding in family life .
This is even as he assured that the police will ensure that justice is served in the present situation.
Instructively the sad incident came on the first day of the commencement of the Holy month of Ramadan across the World.
