Following the Super Eagles abysmal and shambolic display that saw it bundled out of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup by perennial rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana on away goal rule at the Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola Stadium, Abuja, after a 1-1 aggregate score line, the Technical Director and Adviser of the team, Augustine Eguavoen has resigned his position.

It was gathered that the former Super Eagles player rendered his resignation letter following the footsteps of Egyptian Coach, Carlos Queiroz and Algerian Coach, Djamel Belmadi who both resigned after failing to lead their team to qualify for the World Soccer showpiece.

There have been calls from different quarters calling for the sack of Eguavoen but NFF boss, Amaju Pinnick had remained defiant, not until Eguavoen tendered his resignation letter.

In another development, the Super Eagles of Nigeria  maintained its position as the Third Best Team in Africa despite failing to qualify for the World Cup.

In the FIFA Ranking for March 2022 released Thursday, March 31, 2022, Nigeria was rated 30th Best Team in the World.
