The Police Service Commission has named its Chairman’s Hall on the 6th floor of the Commission’s Corporate Office in Abuja after its immediate past Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, a retired Inspector General of Police.
Arase was appointed the Chairman of the Commission on retirement from the Police by the late President Muhammadu Buhari. He was, however, inexplicably removed by President Bola Tinubu who appointed retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Argungu as his successor.
Arase, an accomplished scholar, lawyer, author, sadly passed, suddenly, on August 31, 2025, at the age of 69.
His final journey home began on Wednesday September, 24th 2025, with a day of tributes held at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja.
It will be followed on Friday, September 26th, 2025, by a Requiem Mass at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja, and a lying in State ceremony at his Abuja residence, Maitama, on Saturday.
Thereafter, his remains will be airlifted to Benin, Edo State, for the continuation of the burial rites. These will be completed on Friday, October 3, 2025 with his interment at his Benin, Edo residence.
Speaking on the day of tributes in Abuja Thursday, the Chairman of the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu said his predecessor was not only a Police Officer of repute, a Scholar and a reformer, but a gentleman of rare courage and intellect. Hashimu was represented by the PSC Director, Human Resource of the Management Aminu Malumfashi.
Already over 500 people have signed the Condolence Register at the PSC Corporate Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
A strong and quality delegation from the PSC will be in Benin for the interment.
