Professor George Obiozor Alive, Not Dead – Ohaneze Ndigbo Debunks Rumour Of President General’s Death

President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof George Obiozor, may be reading news of his obituary afterwards  as he has been reported dead.

News of his purported death surfaced on social media Tuesday morning, December 27, 2022, but yet to be confirmed by any member of his group or family.

While some of the close sources contacted claimed the news to be true, others chose not to comment.

The 80 years old retired diplomat from Awo-Omanma in the Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State has been sick for a while and out of circulation.

Prof. Obiozor was elected President-General of Ohanaeze, the apex Igbo organisation, in early January 2021.

However in a swift reaction, the apex Igbo socio cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide refuted reports insinuating the death of its President-General, Prof George Obiozor.

The rebuttal is coming after news of Obiozor purported death was published in some media outlets on Tuesday.

Reacting to the aforementioned reports, the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, in a phone coversation revealed that Obiozor is very much alive.

Born on August 15, 1942, Prof. Obiozor CON was formerly the Nigerian Ambassador to the United States. He studied in Nigeria and the US, crowning it with a Ph.D. in International Affairs from Columbia University.
