”It is indeed a great embarrassment that President Muhammadu Buhari went to 77th UN General Assembly to talk about debt cancellation, while Joe Biden announced a $2.9 billion assistance from the US government to address global food insecurity. “It is all the more shameful because former President Olusegun Obasanjo had taken Nigeria out of debt burden from Western powers.

“The incumbent administration of Buhari in its cluelessness, has dragged this country into debts that run into trillions of naira. Debts our grandchildren may be unable to pay.

“Unfortunately, there are no projects that can be pointed to for this massive borrowing for which he is now calling for cancellation.

“Does Buhari feel the countries he is borrowing from do not know that the monies, so borrowed only go down the drain of corruption? So who will cancel such senseless debts?”

On the promise of the President to ensure free and fair poll next year, PDP observed that “In the last few appearances of President Buhari, he has been talking about holding free and fair elections.

“As far as l am concerned, that is the only way to save the little that is remaining of his badly battered reputation.

“If he succeeds to deliver credible elections, Nigerians can start the rebuilding of our country. It is clear, he lacks the capacity to deliver on all his previous promises from economy to unemployment, to insecurity and education.

“But if he does not muddle up 2023, we can reset our country from that point.”
