President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered Security Agents to launch a manhunt for the perpetrators of the recent attack in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, that left at least 10 people dead and several others injured.
The President in condemning the attack said it is unacceptable and promised the Presidency would get to the root of the gruesome murders.
In a statement signed by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari said the return of terrorist attacks in the region was shocking.
Around 09:00 pm on Wednesday, gunmen raided Langson community in the Atyap Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf, killed over 10 people and injured many others.
The attackers who shot sporadically also looted a shop in the area before they were repelled by mobile policemen.
It is one of several attacks by armed militias that have killed thousands of Kaduna South residents in the past seven years.
It also comes three months after terrorists killed 40 residents in Mallagum and Sogwon communities in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Reacting to the development, the President said “There is a concerted attack on innocent citizens in the state and the security and law enforcement agencies must take serious action to put an end to this.”
He commiserated with the families of the deceased saying “my deepest condolences to the families of those killed in these horrific attacks. May their souls rest in peace.”
