Presidency Beefs Up Osinbajo’s Security After Accident

Inspector Ali Gomina, one of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s escort riders,  has lost his life in an accident while leading the vice-president’s convoy to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Osinbajo was supposed to connect flight from Abuja to Lagos yesterday but has now cancelled the trip following the demise of one of his trusted security aides.

Following the incident, the security details of the vice president, the magazine was told by Aso Rock sources, has been beefed up, as more personnel from the Department of State Services, DSS have now been added to his security team.

The cause of the accident has yet to be determined, but the Senior Special Assistant to the President Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, said Osinbajo is greatly saddened by the unfortunate event.

Laolu in the statement said: “With grief in our hearts, we announce the death of one of the police escort riders on the Vice President’s convoy, Inspector Ali Gomina, aged 45, who was involved in a road accident while on official duty today (yesterday).

The accident occurred on the road to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The Vice President, who is greatly saddened by this occurrence, has aborted the scheduled trip.

The Vice President described Gomina as a diligent, hardworking and serious-minded officer, who will be greatly missed by the team. He is survived by his wife, children and relatives. May his soul rest in peace.”
