PSquare Breakup: “You Broke My Heart” – Peter’s Heartbreaking Letter To Brother, Paul

0
PSquare

My dear brother Paul,
Just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes. In your recent interviews, you claimed that you wrote and sang 99% of all P-SQUARE songs and discredited me by saying that our song with TI “EjeaJo,” which I wrote, was a failure. You went as far as using the YouTube views to discredit me once again.
You never acknowledged the other songs like “Get-Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” “Personally,” “Roll It,” “Temptation,” “Alingo,” “More than a Friend,” “Shekini,” “Say Your Love,” “Gimme Dat,” “Senorita,” “IGBEdu,” and a few others. Were these songs also considered failures as well?

Every time I have spoken in interviews about P-SQUARE, I have always used “we” and “us” because I saw us as a team. But whenever you speak, it’s always “I” and “me,” even when I’m standing right beside you. It’s as if I never existed.
My brother, neither of us is the most talented artist in the world, but you fail to understand that God gave us this talent and even granted us another chance to excel after our last breakup. Instead, you chose to turn the most awarded and decorated music group in Africa into a laughingstock again.

One thing you need to understand clearly is that the fans didn’t fall in love with P-SQUARE because of who sang or danced the most. What made us special was the magic that came from our combined effort – us two! P-SQUARE was a force, and the fans fell in love with P-SQUARE because of our uniqueness and unity. We both have talent, no doubt, and I have often praised you in our interviews for your songwriting ability. I have also praised anyone who has ever written a song for us or even for me as Mr. P. But instead of showing gratitude for my kind words, you seem to find satisfaction in rubbing it in my face, forgetting that it is by God’s grace that we have come this far.

Rather than joining forces with me to reclaim our number 1 spot in the music industry, you chose to team up with Jude to claim the number 1 spot in the P-SQUARE group, always looking for opportunities to marginalize and humiliate me.
You are always claiming to be P-SQUARE’s songwriter, composer, producer, singer, backup vocalist, in fact you are everything including P-SQUARE’s video director, band, promoter, manager, even the choreographer. You are the Author and Finisher of P-SQUARE! In fact, I dash you 100% of everything instead of the 99% you claim.
I blame myself for not responding to your tweet claims in April 2015 that you wrote and sang all of P-SQUARE’s songs. I didn’t respond to these false claims for the sake of peace, as advised by family and friends, and now I am paying dearly for it.
So, my brother, let me ask you: Is Rudeboy or Mr P bigger and more successful than P-SQUARE today? Are we individually selling out arenas and stadiums like P-SQUARE used to? Are we topping world music charts with our songs as solo artistes?

Do we command crowds and entertain massive audiences like P-SQUARE?
I often find myself wondering, what do you truly gain by constantly disrespecting and belittling me all the time. You have disrespected my wife, disrespected my family, disrespected my talent, disrespected my ideas, and even sided with Jude when he was clearly trying to oppress me. Now, it feels like you have taken it even further by trying so hard to turn the fans against me by making them believe I’m jealous of you.
You have been doing everything for the fans to hate me, but guess what? They will never hate me; instead, they will hate us both because we have disappointed and failed them.
I hope you are happy now. I genuinely wish you nothing but the best, bro! As for those who believe these lies and false narratives and come to my page to drop negative comments, I understand because you have been fed the wrong narrative for a long time.

However, despite the huge challenge posed by the recent EndBadGovernance protest, the CP insisted that the command has continued to demonstrate commitment towards discharging its primary duty of maintaining law and order.

“The Command has remained resolute, and steadfast in its duty to protect the lives and properties of all residents in Kano State.

Through proactive policing strategies, and community engagement, we have successfully achieved significant successes within the period under review ( August 1,to date )” the Kano CP stated .

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa

By Ayodele Oni

Nasarawa State government and organized labour have agreed to commence immediate implementation of all outstanding promotions for civil servants in the state before commencement of payment of the new minimum wage.

Abdullahi Sule  announced the approval at a meeting with the organized labour and its affiliates  in Lafia.

The governor’s decision followed the request by the leadership of the union that outstanding promotions from 2018 to date be implemented before payment of the new minimum wage of N70,000.

Speaking at the meeting, Sule said that he  called for the engagement because the government had concluded plans to begin implementation of the new minimum wage in August with three months arrears.

“I have promised the people of the state that we will pay the new minimum wage when it was finally agreed and signed into law.

“I believe that we will be able to work out a template and pay arrears of May, June, and July, while August will take off with the new wage.”

The governor also noted that he made commitment to the union more than two months ago to implement all outstanding promotions.

He directed the Accountant General of the state to commence implementation of the outstanding promotions from August with one month of the arrears of July as demanded by the union.

Sule also agreed with the suggestion of the organized labour to set up a minimum wage implementation committee that would commence work once the template was ready.

“The committee will wait for the template from the National Salaries Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) before negotiation with the union will begin in the state, since that is what you want.”

In his remarks, Mr Ismaila Okoh, state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who spoke on behalf of organized labour, appreciated the governor for all he had done workers in the last five years of his administration.

The NLC chairman also lauded the governor’s intentions to implement the new minimum wage.

He, however, said that the workers wanted their promotions to be implemented first.

“More so that we are still expecting the template for implementation of the new minimum wage from NSIWC before a committee of the union that will discuss with the government in line with the collective bargaining process.

“The implementation of the new minimum wage from NSIWC before a committee of the union that will discuss with the government in line with the collective bargaining process.

“The implementation of outstanding promotions should come first and that of the minimum wage will come after we receive the template.”

Anambra: Gov. Soludo’s Hurried LG Election Is An Anti-Democratic Gesture – Ogene

0
Victor Ogene
Hon. Victor Ogene

… describe recently amended Anambra Electoral Law as an ambush to stifle Inclusion

Afam Victor Ogene, the House of Representatives member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, has expressed concerns over the hasty amendment of the Anambra State Electoral Law by the Anambra State House of Assembly. He described the move as a promotion of undemocratic tactics aimed at frustrating opposition parties in the state.

Armed with this curious amendment, the Anambra state government has gone ahead to hurriedly fix local government elections for September 28, 2024, thereby causing unease in the state’s political ecosystem.

Rep. Ogene in a statement in Awka, the state capital, criticised the swift amendment of the state’s Electoral Law, calling it an unholy manoeuvre to stifle the interest of the grassroots in producing credible leadership at the local government levels as envisioned by both the constitution and the recent pronouncement by the Supreme Court, which granted financial autonomy to the LGAs for the purpose of sustainable developments at the local areas.

In a move widely viewed as politically motivated, the State Assembly had recently amended the Anambra Electoral Law 2024, slashing the notice period for local government elections from 60 days to just 30 days. This sudden change has raised suspicions among stakeholders, who see it as an attempt by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)-led government, under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, to launch a political ambush on opposition parties.

With this surprising amendment in hand, the Anambra state government has hastily announced local government elections for September 28, 2024, causing widespread fears regarding a pre-determined outcome.

Hon. Ogene, who is the leader of the Labour Party Caucus in the House of Representatives, further stated, “Governor Soludo and the State Assembly have perpetuated an undemocratic practice by utilizing the democratic institution of the Assembly to handpick local government leaders. This anti-people approach excludes the majority who do not align with their authoritarian tendencies.

“The newly imposed 30-day notice period for local government elections will lead to widespread disenfranchisement at the grassroots level. Within this truncated timeframe, it will be nearly impossible for stakeholders to conduct meaningful consultations, organize primary elections, secure funding, and prepare for the election without government support.

Criticizing the APGA-led government’s actions, Hon. Ogene declared:
“This is a disservice to the people and a mockery of our democracy. By frustrating the enthronement of true democracy at the grassroots level – the foundation of democratic governance – the government is mindlessly undermining the very essence of democratic practice.

“In deed, it is ludicrous that 10 years after the last local government in the state – and two and half years since he mounted the saddle – Governor Soludo and his recently appointed ANSIEC would seek to hoodwink the people of the state through a hurriedly clobbered council election process.

“We urge all advocates of democracy to remain vigilant and engaged in the upcoming Anambra local government and state elections, ensuring that the people’s will is not subverted by the state government’s deceitful tactics under Governor Soludo’s leadership.”

Despite the recent increase, Nigeria remains below the OPEC-set production quota of 1.5 million bpd.

The country continues to hold the title of Africa’s largest oil producer, with Libya trailing at 1.175 million bpd in July.

Meanwhile, analysts in the energy sector insist that this is a good news considering that it will increase the revenue acruebale to the federal government from the single source.

The Nigerian government, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), aims to reach a production target of 2 million bpd by the end of December 2024.

Hunger Protests: Kano Govt Ends 24hr Curfew

0
Abba Kabir Yusuf - Governor of Kano Sfate

The Kano government has suspended the 24-hour curfew imposed following the break down of law and order during the 10-day hunger protests in the state.

The state commissioner for information and Internal Affairs, Baba Dantiye, issued the suspension  to the people of the state.

Recall that the Governor Abba Yusuf government imposed the curfew after the #endbadgovernace protests turned violent in the state, with some protesters embarking on looting and wanton destruction of public and private property.

The state government had earlier relaxed the curfew for five hours to allow muslims participate in the Friday Jumaat prayer last week.

The commissioner said the governor lifted the curfew completely due to the satisfactory and improved security situation in the state.

Announcing the lifting of the curfew yesterday, the commissioner said it has yileded positive results, adding that the security agencies have done a good job by restoring peace to the restive state.

He said the law abiding residenst of the state can now go about their lawful duties, adding that measures have been put in place to safeguard their safety.

Dantiye said, “This protest resulted in the imposition of a curfew in order to guide people’s lives and properties. Now, the government, having reviewed the situation and is satisfied that the security issue has drastically improved, has now lifted the curfew completely.

“People can now go about their business peacefully in accordance with the law and order.

“His Excellency, the governor, on behalf of the government, extends his appreciation to the security agencies for their efforts in bringing peace back to our state and also thank the Ulama for their prayers and indeed all the people of Kano state for their support and understanding during this trying period of the curfew.”

“You Can’t Stop #Endbadgovernance Protests”- Judge Rules

0
EndBadGovernance Protest

The federal high court in Abuja has has rejected and dismissed an application seeking to endbadgovernance protesters from continue with their protests.

Justice Pter Lifu gave the dismisal on Monday while ruling in an parte motion filed by Danladi Goje, Buky Abayomi, Adiza Abbo, and 13 other Nigerians who were seeking to stop the protest from continuing.

In the application dated August 12, the applicants sought the enforcement of their fundamental rights against the organisations involved with the protests.

The organisations sued as 1st to 8th respondents are Take It Back Movement, Concerned Nigerians, Nigerians Against Hunger, Initiative For Change, Human Rights Co-advocacy Initiative, Nigerian Against Corruption Initiative, Citizens for Change Advocacy Initiative, and Timely Intervention

The 9th to 19th respondents are Active Citizens Group, Students For Change, We Coalition, Total Intervention, Refurbished Nigeria, Tomorrow Today, Our Future In Our Hands Initiative, Youths Against Tyranny, Save Nigeria Movement, Omoyele Sowore, and Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Other respondents in the matter are the attorney general of the federation and security agencies.

In the court documents, Tsembelee Sorkaa, the applicants’ lawyer, said his clients’ rights to life, personal liberty, private and family life, and economic activities would be further breached if the 1st to 19th respondents continued the protest.

Sorkaa urged the court to restrain the 1st to 19th respondents from continuing with the protest pending the determination of his motion on notice.

The lawyer also appealed to the court to enforce the restraining order if it is granted.

In his ruling, Lifu said the #EndBadGovernance protest ended last week, noting that there was no evidence presented before the court showing that the protesters would reconvene later.

The judge said the applicants’ lawyer cannot rush his notice ex parte without providing the required affidavit to support the requests for an interim injunction and substituted service.

He dismissed the application for lacking merit and adjourned the hearing on the motion on notice to August 29.

The magazine reported that many angry Nigerians had stormed major cities across the country for 10 days between August 1-10 to force government hands to change the ongoing economic hardship in the country.

Not a few Nigerians have blamed the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for bringing untold hardship to Nigerians through the fuel subsidy removal and convergence of the foreign exchnage market.

Thus following the 10-day protests, the organisers had insisted that they will continue in October to put pressure on the government to end the hardship in the land.

“When we start in October, we will not stop until these demands are met. Already, that conversation is going on and more plans by the organisers will be announced to the general public,” Omoyele Sowore, one of the organisers said.
