Nigeria Is Now “Tinubu Plc” – Atiku, Claims President Tinubu, Allies Have Stake In Virtually Major Ventures

0
Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu

By Ayodele Oni

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has remarked that Nigeria is rapidly transforming into “a government of Tinubu, by Tinubu, and for Tinubu.”

The former Vice President asserted that the future of Nigerians has been effectively mortgaged to President Bola Tinubu, his family, and associates.

He was of the view that even after Tinubu leaves office, it will be nearly impossible to break these shackles.

A statement by Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe on Wednesday, stated that

compared Tinubu’s integration of his business interests into Lagos’s public enterprises to his efforts at the federal level.

Atiku, was the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election.

“Just as Alpha Beta, Primero, and others act as Tinubu’s proxies in Lagos, managing critical sectors and generating revenue for him and his family, he has begun to replicate this at the federal level.”

He expressed astonishment at the operations of the NNPC and how the government-owned oil company had put its retail arm under the control of OVH, a company in which Oando, led by Wale Tinubu, owns 49 percent.

Atiku regretted that his intention to privatize the NNPC and increase its transparency has been overshadowed by what he describes as the criminal hijack of the NNPC by corporate cabals around the current president.

“In October 2022, just five months before the elections, the NNPC retail controversially announced it had acquired OVH and all its filling stations.

“NNPCL already had about 550 filling stations across the country but claimed it was enhancing its capacity by acquiring OVH, which had only 94 stations and 100 others leased.

“The NNPC did not disclose the purchase price of OVH or the terms of the acquisition. A Freedom of Information request by Premium Times was also rejected by the NNPC, which claimed to be a private company despite still being government-owned.

“Following this dubious deal, Mele Kyari was controversially retained as NNPC GMD despite his incompetence.

“Tinubu then appointed his former boss at Mobil, turned ally, Pius Akinyelure, as NNPC Chairman, while he himself took on the role of Minister of Petroleum.

“In a move that defies economic logic, OVH, previously owned by NNPC Retail, has now acquired NNPC Retail.

“This absurd situation means that Wale Tinubu’s Oando now owns 49% of NNPC Retail. Moreover, Nigeria paid Wale Tinubu a significant sum to facilitate the Tinubu family’s acquisition of the national oil company.

“This represents a clear case of illogical business transactions and abuse of office by President Tinubu, who has prevented NNPC from becoming a public liability company as stipulated by the PIA.”

Atiku acknowledged that the NNPC and its leadership are under legislative investigation, but expressed skepticism about the process’s credibility due to the vested interests of those conducting the investigation.

“Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, who is heading the National Assembly panel, is a known supporter of Tinubu. He served as a commissioner under Tinubu in Lagos State and publicly calls him his godfather.

“Given that Tinubu is the Petroleum Minister, he should be held responsible for the sector’s issues. I doubt Bamidele will conduct a thorough investigation that might implicate his patron.”

Atiku also commented on the recent revelation that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project is under litigation.

“The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), a global network of investigative journalists, reported that the coastal highway project has been taken to court and revealed a close relationship between Tinubu’s son, Seyi, and Gilbert Chagoury, who was awarded the contract without competitive bidding.

“I had earlier claimed that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project was fraudulent, but the government denied it. Now, the matter is in court.

“It is also concerning that Chagoury and Tinubu have a business relationship, and their children are business partners, as revealed by the OCCRP.

“This indicates a conflict of interest. It is no surprise that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Highway, which together will cost over $24 billion, were approved without competitive bidding. It seems that whatever Tinubu wants, he gets.”

FCT Minister Wike Dares Clark, Says Ijaw Leader Is Not PDP Member

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has declared that Chief Edwin Clark, leader of the Southern and Middle Belt Forum, who has demanded an investigation and his expulsion from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), is not a member of the party.

He made this statement during a media briefing on Wednesday, celebrating his first year as the FCT Minister.

Clark, in a letter to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Umar Damagum, on Tuesday, urged him to “immediately set up a probe panel/committee to probe members like Nyesom Wike, and if found guilty, to face the appropriate sanctions as prescribed by the party’s constitution.

Responding, Wike pointed out that Clark had opposed his gubernatorial ambitions in 2014, yet he still contested and won the position. Wike emphasized that no one had contributed to the party’s progress as much as he had.

He also stated that there was nothing to investigate, pointing out that the elder statesman had called for a Southern Presidency, which Wike had supported and adhered to.

“I don’t know the party that Chief Clark belongs to. Frankly speaking, since I entered the PDP I have never seen him at any PDP meeting.

“I do not like to react to elder statesmen like that. But let me tell you the history so that people will know.

“In 2014 when I came out to run, Edwin Clark now said no, that it was the turn of the Ijaws, and that nothing would make me be the Governor. I said ‘Well, it is my right to run, and if I fail  I come back’. But to the Glory of God, I ran, and I won.

“Since then, Edwin Clark has written me letters, but I have refused to talk to anybody. I said I will not answer.

“I was not a bad person when I championed for the Ijaw man to be Governor; I have become a bad person simply because there are issues, and I kept quiet.

“There is nothing Chief Edwin Clark an elder statesman has not said, but I will never, I will not reply to anything. If there is anybody who has contributed to the growth of PDP as far as today, it is me.

“So, when I read that he said they should investigate me, investigate me for what? He was one of those who was talking about a Southern president, and I supported a Southern President, so what are you going to investigate me for?

“Chief Edwin Clark was one of those who said power must rotate to go to the South, so what is the crime I have committed that I also believe in that.”

“Senator Wabara, Your Late Wife And Family Feel Embarrassed By You” – Wike To PDP BoT Chair

Adolphus Wabara and Nyesom Wike

By Gideon Njoku

Elder Statesman and foremost Ijaw Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has revealed yet a volcanic and shocking side of Nyesom Wike, the Minister for the Federal Capital Territory.

Chief Clark made the revelation in a letter he wrote to the Acting National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Umar Illiya Damagum, in which he accused the Ag. Chairman, the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and Wike of not only sabotaging the PDP, but of working assiduously to ruin and destroy the once ruling Party at the centre.

In the open letter titled: “Whither Peoples Democratic Party (PDP): To Be Or Not To Be?”, Chief Clark reeled out the number of times the three men, allegedly, undermined the Party, and particularly accused Damagum and Anyanwu of conniving with Wike to destroy the PDP.

He lamented a situation where Wike will bestride the Party like a colossus, leaves it breathless, insults everybody, and still enjoys the protection of Damagum and company. He wondered why it is difficult to expel Wike from the PDP. “He is not above the Party”, Chief Clark noted.

He, particularly, noted an incident when Wike, in writing, insulted the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, (BoT), Dr Adolphus Wabara, a former Senate President. Wike, said Clark, told Wabara that his (Wabara’s) late wife and family must be feeling embarrassed by his (Wabara’s) behavior. “You are a big shame to your generation”, Clark quoted Wike,  to have told Wabara in writing.

According to Chief Clark, Wabara’s offence was his call, during a meeting, that Party members indulging in anti-Party activities should be disciplined.

For that, said Clark, Wike wrote Wabara, his elder in age, senior in Politics, a stinker and even threatened him.

Clark to Damagum on Wike: ” You summoned a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which Barr. Wike attended. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Sen. Adolphus Wabara, also attended the PDP Caucus meeting, in addition to attending the meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC). As expected of a Chairman desirous to make things work well in his Party, Sen. Wabara  called out that actions be taken against members carrying out anti-party activities.

“To Barr. Wike, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees has committed an offence by stating that measures should be taken against erring members. For this reason, Barr. Wike wrote a stinker in form of a letter to him, using unprincipled languages and even threatening him, that he was coming for him.

“For the records, Sen. Wabara is senior to Nyesom Wike both in age and in politics. He has held the position of number three citizen of the country as President of the Nigerian Senate, when Barr. Wike was not known, yet he (Nyesom Wike) had the temerity to send an insulting letter to him, written in red ink.

“Quoted below is the said letter:

“Senator Adolphus Wabara, Haba, how will your late wife feel the way you embarrass yourself and your family?

“You are a big shame to your generation.

Rivers matter will consume you. I will speak about you soon.”

Added Clark: “This is just Barr. Wike’s modus operandi to try to cow and intimidate people to submission, to silence them so that they will withdraw from a just cause, giving him room to display his high- handedness when he notices that he cannot buy such persons with money.”

To breathe life into PDP, Clark said the Party needs to flush Wike out  and expel him.

Clark: “I, also, wish to use this medium to call on all responsible and reasonable PDP Party elders and members to take a bold step to flush out Barrister Wike from the Party. He is not above the Party. He should be expelled from it.”

Enugu: Govt Demolishes Kidnappers’ Dens, Says More to Go Down

Kidnappers Den in Enugu

The Enugu State Government, Wednesday, demolished properties used by kidnappers for detaining their victims in the outskirts of Enugu, the State Capital.

Among the properties were an uncompleted storey-building with an underground tunnel at Nkwubor Layout in Emene Nike where a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered and a large farm housing a poultry, piggery, and plantain plantation at Ogbeke Nike all in Enugu East LGA.

At Nkwubor Nike, 17 firearms were recovered, including eight AK47 riffles, seven pump action riffles, and two short guns, while two AK47 riffles were recovered at the Ogbeke Nike farm. Shrines, charms, and mini Indian hemp farms were also destroyed.

Security operatives had, following months of discreet investigation on the activities of the kidnappers, stormed the two hideouts, where they made the startling discoveries and rescued some victims after gun duels with the criminals.

Recall that the Enugu State Government had, in line with the Governor Peter Mbah Administration’s determination to eradicate crime and criminality in the State, announced its readiness to demolish properties being used for kidnapping purposes in line with Section 315 of the Criminal Code (Second Amendment) Law Cap. 30, Laws of Enugu State.

The said Section 315, which had been redundant since 2016 when it was so amended provides, “If the building or structure owned by the offender or any other person, who knows or ought to reasonably know that the building or structure is so being used for that purpose, the building or structure shall be demolished or forfeited to the State Government.”

Speaking to newsmen at the criminal hideout at Agu Ogbeke, Nike, Chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA, Uche Anya, said the demolitions were in compliance with the said law as directed by the government, stressing that there is no hiding place for criminals in the state.

“This government is determined to exterminate all manner of criminality. So, people were kidnapped and brought here, including the woman that was kidnapped near the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus.

“You can see the trouble we took to get here today. So, this has been ongoing. But after today, this place will never exist again in the manner you met it. That is why we are here to send a strong signal and we are also warning property owners not to come and tell us that they are in South Africa, China or Germany and do not know what is happening. Once your property or commercial entity is used for kidnapping or anything involving grievous bodily harm or threat, including attempted murder, we will come after you and your property,” he stated.

At Nkwubor, Emene, Nike, Anya told reporters, “The activities here were even more gruesome. You have seen the underground cell they built and covered it with a manhole. Ordinarily you will think nothing is happening there, but the eagle eye of the security in the course of doing their work detected that something was amiss, only to discover that there’s an underground where human beings are kept and we found their armoury, many AK47 riffles and other crazy equipments that no civilian is entitled to hold. But, today, it is has to go down as directed by the governor in accordance with the Laws of Enugu State,” he said.

The ECTDA Chairman said the government would in addition take over the properties and put them to good use, noting that the demolition is an ongoing process as more structures were already marked to go down.

“So, all these places will be taken over by the government and we can turn it into a children playground, garden, park or primary health care. But whoever thought he or she owned this place before this hour will no longer touch his or her foot here forever.

“Enugu State has an anti-kidnapping law, but beside that, the Criminal Code covers that whatever that deprives you of your liberty and leads to death is what the government cannot condone,” he concluded.

Controversial Kano Drugs Supply Contract: Kwankwaso’s Family Members Are Arrested

The raging controversy surrounding the alleged award of a suspicious multi-million Naira drugs supply contract by the Kano State Government on Tuesday, August 20, got more messy with the arrest and detention of some principal actors.

The State Anti-Corruption Commission said it has arrested Musa Garba, nephew of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the ALGON Chairman in the State, Abdullahi Ibrahim Bashir, and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for illegally awarding the said contract, paying and receiving the contract  sum of  N402.6 million .

The deal now gone sour was blown open last week by a Kano- based popular skit maker.

However, Governor Abba Yusuf, on Sunday, August 19, 2024 distanced his Government from the questionable drugs supply contract.

In a statement jointly issued by  the State Commissioner for Information, Haliru Baba Dantiye, and the Governor’s Media Aide, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa Yusuf directed the State anti-graft Agency to immediately launch an inquest to unravel those behind the shady deal.

But not persuaded by Governor Yusuf’s posture, the opposition All Progressive Congress APC, urged the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, to step in and investigate the alleged fraudulent drugs supply contract.

In a statement on Monday, August 19, the state chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Abass, expressed the Party’s lack of confidence in the abilities of the State anti-corruption Commission to carry out an unbiased investigation in a matter that revolves around the family members and cronies of Governor Yusuf-s mentor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso .

The APC lashed the Governor for claiming ignorance of the dubious contract, noting that it is a clear testimony that he is not in control of the affairs of Kano state.

But on Tuesday the State Anti-corruption Agency revealed that the actors so far arrested have confessed to  withdrawing and paying  over N402 million from the Joint State/ Local  Government Account in  respect of the deal which was for drugs supply to all the 44 Local Councils of the State .

Out of the amount, a total sum of over N 347 million was contributed by 38 Local Councils before the intervention of the Commission.

The said N402 million was said to have been paid to  Novomed Pharmaceuticals, an outfit owned by Musa Garba, Kwankwaso’s nephew for the said drug supply.

As at the time of the inquest, no single drug had been supplied to any of the 44 Local Governments ,by the contracting firm.

The Commission said that the  officials and the contractor are being held for flagrantly flouting the public procurement laws and the financial management extant rules of the state .

The Commission insisted that the said contract was awarded and payments made without the expressed approval of the Governor of the State .

The Commission has assured of its readiness to unravel the entire  circumstances surrounding the controversial contract, and all those behind it.

30 Killed As Enugu Govt, Security Agencies Take Battle To Kidnappers Den

Kanayo Uzuegbu - Commissioner of Police Enugu

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

No fewer than seven daredevil kidnappers were early Wednesday morning August 21, 2024, gunned down by a crack team of Security Operatives in Ogbeke Nike area of Enugu State.

This is even as a  concerned citizen and senior member of the Bar, Chief Ani, has urged the Enugu State authorities to immediately activate the 2016 criminal law to  demolish all identified dens of kidnappers and hostage holding cells  in the  State.

A statement on Wednesday from the Enugu State Governor’s media team said about 30  kidnap kingpins have so far been neutralized in the last two weeks in  coordinated operations

Most of the neutralized kidnappers were, allegedly, members of the dreaded Autopilots armed group of the Simon Ekpa-led faction of the Indigenous peoples of Biafra IPOB.

The statement quoted Onochie Ezeh, SP, the leader of the Special Security Outfit detailed to go all out against the kidnappers as saying that the pre-dawn Wednesday’s operation was specifically launched at a large, but abandoned, poultry farm used as both a hide out and dumping ground for abductees.

Ezeh noted that Wednesday’s operation was part of a sustained and well coordinated onslaught against criminal elements who have been terrorizing Enugu residents for some time now.

“We have been on the trail of these kidnappers for more than three months now. They had been operating within the axis where they kidnapped their victims and kept them  at a large poultry farm in Ogbeke Nike until ransoms are paid.

“So, on a tip off from members of the public who suspected the strange movements in the area, and the accounts of some of the victims of these criminals, we swung into action.

“On sighting us, these men of the underworld opened fire on my men and we quickly retaliated and overpowered them with superior firearm.

“This is a gallant crack squad with the mandate to eliminate every form of threat to the State. We have recorded huge successes over the past months.

“You know our role is not to rush to the media to tell our story ,but to ensure that every citizen and resident of the state has peace .

“I can assure  you that we have already neutralized over seven criminal gangs who are mostly kidnappers and unknown gunmen.

“We are going after them .We are taking the battle to their door steps because the Governor said we should not come back home if we don’t completely rid the state of threats.

“So, we are on it. In fact, during our operations, we identified many criminal hideouts where kidnap- victims and dangerous weapons are kept.

“These places include the New Artisan Market, Akwute Community Akegbe-Ugwu, Mgbowo,Emene, Eke and Afa in Udi and some parts of Isi Uzo Local Government Area.

“During rescue operations, we were able to neutralize over 30 of the kidnappers and recovered guns and valuables”, the statement further quoted Ezeh as saying.

However, in the face of the harrowing experiences being faced by many residents as a result of the dastardly acts of kidnappers, most Enugu residents, according to the statement, have called on Governor Peter Mba to wield the big stick .

Chief Iheanacho, while addressing the media on Wednesday, on the security situation, noted that the 2016 criminal law of the state as amended empowers the Governor to demolish any structure found to be used for kidnappings operations .

“We cannot continue like this. Yes, beyond going after the criminals, the Governor must show both political and legal courage to go after properties being used as hostage-holding cells and bring them down irrespective of who the owners are.

“The state must deter these criminals and those enabling their access to such buildings. That is what justice is all about.

“It is justice to the kidnap-victims; justice to the family of the victims, and  justice to the society at large” the Governor’s media team statement quoted Chief Iheanacho as saying.

At the time of going to, a Government demolition squad was already at the Poultry premises bringing down every structure.

Independent National Electoral Commission - INEC

By Akinwale Kasali

As the September 21, 2024, Edo State Governorship Election approaches, electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has stated that only 2,629,025 voters are eligible to elect the New Governor of the State.

Prof  Rhoda Gumus, INEC’s Supervising National Commissioner for Edo, Delta and Cross River States, disclosed that aforementioned numbers are the only ones eligible to exercise their franchise at the poll.

Gumus presented the Voters Register

at the Commission’s  office in Benin, Edo State Capital, to the Chairmen and Representatives of the 16 participating Political Parties.

Gumus said: “In line with the Electoral Act, 2022, INEC must present the voter registers to the Chairmen of the political parties, not later than 30 days to the election. We are trying to obey the law, and carrying out the 10th of the 13 activities scheduled for the Edo Governorship Election.”

She stressed the need for a peaceful poll.

“Election should not be a do-or-die affair. If you do not win today, you may win tomorrow. Problems always erupt on election day. Politicians and their supporters in Edo State should eschew violence.

“INEC is ready for the governorship election in Edo State. We want the stakeholders to cooperate with the electoral commission to make the activities before, during and after the election to be seamless. I am giving an assurance that with the support of the security agencies, the election will be peaceful, free and fair.”

The supervising national commissioner also urged Edo residents and other Nigerians to be proud of their motherland, and never to allow tribe or tongue to divide them.

Anugbum Onuoha, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State reiterated that 2,501,081 voters were registered in the state for the 2023 general elections, while 173,048 persons were registered during the Continuous Voter Registration from May 27 to June 9, 2024, with 119,206 registrants, including the persons who transferred their PVCs, being valid, thereby bringing the total to 2,501,081 eligible voters.

Akin Olotu - Ondo Special Senior Assistant on Agric

By Ayodele Oni

Former Senior Special Assistant, (SSA) on Agriculture and Agribusiness in Ondo State has urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to dedicate at least 24 percent of the state’s 2025 budget to agriculture to enhance food production.

He explained that the advice was necessary as more food crisis is imminent going by present climatic condition.

Olotu spoke at the annual lecture series of the Correspondents Chapel of the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Akure.

Lucky Aiyedatiwa
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State

“There should be aggressive rural transformation. The government needs to curb rural-urban drift. If we do not have rural transformation, we are going no where.

“In the months ahead, there will be more food crisis. The present climatic condition is not favourable to farming activities.

“Something has to be done. Food crisis is still ahead. President Bola Tinubu has to set target for the state and local councils. Presently, Nigeria’s poultry industry has collapsed.”

He catalogue several efforts by previous administration in the state to boost food production.

Olotu, who served in the administration of late former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, disclosed that the former Governor cultivated 87,000 hectares of oil palm out of a target of 100,000  to achieve ‘Red gold’ revolution.

From the effort, Olotu said the initiative created over 30,000 jobs

“Ondo State has comparative advantage in tree crops. We targeted 100,000 hectares for oil palm but we did 87,000 hectares. We also succeeded in tomato cultivation in Ondo.

The former Akeredolu aide who said his previous warning on food crisis was ignored said this year’s climatic condition was not favourable to farming.

He took a swipe at agricultural research institutes for not living up to expectations of Nigerians to tackle food crisis as well as bridging the gap between research and knowledge.

“Nigeria is importing oil palm heavily. We need concerted effort to tackle food shortage. We need to plan, we need to know where we are and where we are going to.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Tayo Oluwatuyi, pointed out that the administration has embarked on several initiatives to boost food production in the country and improved welfare of the citizens.

CBN: Diaspora Remittances Hit Over $550m

0
Yemi Cardoso - CBN Governor

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has reported a substantial increase in remittance inflows, to the tune of  $553 million in July 2024.

The figure, the government-controlled bank said represents a 130 per cent increase from the corresponding period in 2023.

A statement by the Apex bank’s acting Director, Corporate Communications, Hakama Sidi Ali on Tuesday, said the figure represented the highest monthly total inflows on record,  and reflects ongoing efforts by the CBN to enhance liquidity in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.

The substantial growth in remittance receipts was attributable to policy measures introduced by the CBN to enhance liquidity in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.

These measures included granting licenses to new International Money Transfer Operators, IMTOs, implementing a willing buyer-willing seller model, and enabling timely access to naira liquidity for IMTOs.

Diaspora remittances are a crucial source of foreign exchange for Nigeria, supplementing both foreign direct investment and portfolio investments.

The apex bank stated that its initiatives have supported continued growth in these inflows, aligning with the institution’s objective of doubling formal remittance receipts within a year.

The statement added, “The increase in remittances is a strong testament to the success of the CBN’s ongoing efforts to bolster public confidence in the foreign exchange market, strengthen a robust and inclusive banking system, and promote price stability, which is essential for sustained economic growth.”

Kogi: Appeal Court Orders Fugitive Yahaya Bello To Report To EFCC

0
Yahaya Bello

Fugitive Yahaya Bello, a former governor of Kogi state has been ordered by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, to make himself available for trial over an alleged N80 billion fraud.

The appellate court made the order on Monday in a case brought before it by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, a decision that has superseded an earlier one made by a Kogi state high court which restrained the EFCC from prosecuting Bello over the allegation of money laundering.

The magazine reported that the former governor has been eluding arrest by playing hide and seek with the law.

Not a few insist that he has been in the custody of the Kogi state governor, under whose protection he has been since evaded EFCC arrest in his Abuja home in March this year.

In a unanimous decision delivered on Tuesday, a three-member panel of the appellate court led by Justice Ken Amadi restrained the former governor from taking any further action regarding the charges against him until he has been formally arraigned.

The appeal court described the judgment by the Kogi high court which restrained the anti-graft agency fro  arresting Bello as “scandalous”.

Justice Amadi held that it was very clear that the purpose of the case instituted at the trial court was “to shield the respondent, Yahaya Bello, from his criminal trial”.

The court also relied on the earlier decision of Olubunmi Oyewole JCA in EFCC vs. Alh. Yahaya Bello, CA/ABJ/CV/413/2024 to reiterate that “no court has the power to preclude a law enforcement agent from performing its statutory functions.”

On the whole, the court agreed with the submissions of the EFCC and held that the appeal is meritorious and is therefore allowed.

“In view of the provision of Section 396(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, the respondent in this appeal, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, is hereby ordered to appear for his arraignment in Charge No.: FHC/ABJ/CR/550/2022, FRN VS ALI BELLO & ANOR, before taking any other step in this matter,” Justice Amadi ruled.

Bell who ruled the Confluence state for eight years with an iron fist has huge corruption allegations trailing him behind.
