Patience Jonathan

By Charles Igbo

Vivacious Nigeria’s former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, is now a proud holder of Doctor of Philosophy.

Dame Jonathan,  wife of former Nigeria’s President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, earned, not honorary, but earned her PhD in Psychology, Guidance and Counseling from Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State. It was conferred on her at the Institution’s 43rd Convocation ceremony.

Speaking at the Convocation ceremony, Dr (Mrs) Jonathan thanked her husband, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and acknowledged the  transformative power of Education and emphasised that age is no barrier to one’s academic pursuit.

She said: “I feel that no age is too late to achieve your academic dreams whether you are young or old. If I can do it, you can also do it.

“I believe that even in retirement,  you are not too old to go back to school because education provides the opportunity for one to always refresh his or her brain and learn new things. Let me use this opportunity to encourage Nigerian women and the youths to aspire to become the best of themselves through qualitative education.

Mrs Jonathan dedicated her feat to Nigerian women just as she credited it to divine grace and the support of her family.

Her words: “First of all, I am very grateful to the Almighty God who has made today a reality. He saw me  through this programme, so I am very happy today.

“I, also, thank my family sincerely, especially, my lovely husband, His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for all his support and very useful suggestions. I am also very grateful to my beautiful and lovely children  for showing great understanding and love throughout the period I was engaged in this programme. I appreciate all my friends for their encouragement. I feel very happy today.”

Mrs Jonathan, popular as “Mama Peace”, was Nigeria’s First Lady from 2008 to 2015. Before then, she was Nigeria’s Second Lady when her husband was the Vice President. She was, also, the First  Lady of Bayelsa State and before then, the wife of the Deputy Governor of the State when her husband was the Deputy Governor.

Since her husband left office in 2015, Mrs Jonathan has engaged herself in   several philanthropic activities, keeping her home, pursuing her quest for peace in Nigeria and the African Continent, and, as has been made public now, her quest to improve her education. This has now been crowned with a PhD.

Access Bank’s Acquisition Of NBK Strengthens Catalyst For Economic Growth- Ogbonna

Access Bank MD Roosevelt Ogbonna

Access Bank Plc says it has completed  the acquisition of the National Bank of Kenya. The commercial bank was formerly owned by the KCB Group before it was acquired by the Nigerian-based lender.

The process for the acquisition which started last year has now been fully consummated, according to Access Bank and KCB Group in a statement they jointly signed at the weekend.

The statement said despite the complete acquisition of the NBK by the Nigerian lender, the two banks will continue to work independently as the process of full integration is worked out between the parties.

According to the Managing Director of Access Bank Plc, Roosevelt Ogbonna  said the Nigerian lender has been strengthened by the acquisition and is now ready to deliver cutting edge services to “individuals, business and government institutions” like never before.

Ogbonna said with “NBK’s heritage and local expertise” and Access Bank “ pan-African network” the group can now form a catalyst for economic growth in the continent.

Ogbonna: “Finalising this acquisition marks a significant step in our drive towards unlocking the vast potential of East Africa’s financial landscape. Kenya stands at the heart of regional commerce, and with NBK now part of the Access Bank family, we are better positioned to leverage our combined strengths to deliver high-impact banking solutions to individuals, businesses, and government institutions alike.

“NBK’s heritage and local expertise, combined with our pan-African network and innovation-led approach, will enable us to serve as a stronger catalyst for economic growth.”

Abia 2027: My Fate In God’s Hands- Otti

0
Alex Otti - Governor of Abia State

Governor Alex Otti of Abia state has left his fate in God for his re-election. The next governorship election in the south east state has been slated for 2027 by the nation’s electoral umpire, the Interdependent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Ahead the election, Governor Otti said he will first consult with God even though his people, according to him have been urging him to run.

The governor spoke at the weekend during a reception  orgasnised by two local governments in the state, the Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas, to acknowledge his support and programs executed by his administration in the two LGAs.

Otti: “Regarding the call to run in 2027, people will know my stance then. We still have a long way to go. Just as 2023 was in the hands of God, so too will 2027 be.

“So, while I appreciate this endorsement, which I see as recognition of what has been achieved so far, I also thank you for your predictions.

“I can only say that I will consult with God. As time goes on, my response will be made public. Because, as I said the other day, I know my people are waiting.”

According to watchers of the politics in the state, Otti really requires divine intervention for his second term governorship quest, considering what is going on in his party, the Labour Party, LP.

Two factions led by Nenadi Usman and Julius Abure are currently fighting for the soul of the party. The INEC has recognised the Abure-led faction against the Senator Usman faction which the governor supports, a situation that, if not reversed before the next governorship election, according to analysts,  could complicate matters for the governor in terms of securing the LP ticket for the election.

Those watching development in the state, said the governor is considering joining another party if the situation is not resolved in his favour.  Governor Otti has however denied the suggestion that he might dump the LP.

Soyinka: I Support Amaechi For Standing Up To Tinubu

0
Wole Soyinka and Rotimi Amaechi

Professor Wole Soyinka says he admired the manner Rotimi Amaechi , a former Governor of Rivers state stood up to Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary.

The Nobel Laureate made this remark at the week end during Ameachi’s 60th birthday celebration in Abuja, the nation’s capital, attended by top politicians in the country.

According to Soyinka, the former governor and Minister of Transportation was the only presidential aspirants who had the courage to contest the APC presidential ticket with Tinubu, who at the time was the National Leader of the party, after other aspirants have stepped down for Tinubu.

He said the former minister displayed a rare courage even though all the odds were against him, fighting to the end until Tinubu was declared the flag-bearer of the party for the 2023 presidential election.

He noted that the former governor showed the same courage that Tinubu, while he was the governor of Lagos state , against former President Olusegun Obabsanjo who had tried to emasculate opposition parties in the country at the time, to clear the way for him to elongate his presidency , in the form of a third term.

The former president has denied that he had a third term agenda.

Speaking, Soyinka stated that Amaechi has been consistent in his avowed determination to not be cowed by the powers that be in the country, a characteristic that the literary icon said he admired in him.

“The main reason why I had to be here today — it’s first of all that I admire Rotimi Amaechi’s fighting spirit,” Soyinka said.75

“And it’s a very consistent one, but the most memorable for me, because I watched this event live on TV from Abu Dhabi.

“I wanted to see the drama of all the primaries going on during the election. I wasn’t here, but I said I wanted to watch this contest, and I’m glad I did.

“Because it gave me a great—most malicious pleasure, rascally if you like, pleasure-to-to — see the incumbent president being given a dose of his own medicine.

“Let me explain this. For somebody, we knew as the last man standing when he fought to a standstill, a former president who was manoeuvring himself into a position of changing the constitution and obtaining a third term.

“He keeps denying it, but he and I know for a fact, and so do others. And towards that goal, he was sort of emasculating the powers of the constituent elements of the federation.

“And by the end, this president was the last man standing and resisted that effort. All the others had sort of cowed down because their statutory allocation had been stopped, contrary to the Constitution.

“But one man — he was the last man standing. Well, he obtained a dose of his own medicine from Rotimi Amaechi during the primaries. I enjoyed that very much.

“While everybody was, you know, falling over one another conceding, there was one individual who got on the podium and he said no, I’m not conceding.

“I didn’t come all the way here to commit ‘lúlẹ̀’. And that man was Rotimi Amaechi. And I said this is what democracy is all about.”

Soyinka is an ally of both Amaechi and President Tinubu.

The magazine reported that the former minister had recently stepped up his criticism of the president, over what he described as his misgovernance of the country since he came to office two years ago.

For instance, he accused the 36 state governors of being very docile when it comes to criticising the president, saying that was not the case when he was governor and Minister.

Petrol Cheaper In Nigeria, Dangote Tells ECOWAS Delegation

0
Aliko Dangote

Aliko Dangote has disclosed that Nigerians are paying half of what other countries in west Africa are paying for petrol also known as Premium Motor Spirit, PMS.

The President of Dangote Group owners of the $20 billion petrochemical Dangote Refinery in Lagos made this known during a high-level visit of the ECOWAS Commission to the refinery.

Recall that Dangote Refinery has reduced the price of petrol in the country more than two times this year, making the company’s product to be cheaper than what other petroleum marketers are selling.

According to Dangote, the price of petrol in the country is 55 percent chaeper than what is being sold in other neighbouring West African countries, including Ghana, Republic of Benin, Togo , Cote d’Ivoire among others.

The Africa’s Richest Man informed the ECOWAS delegation that the continent should consume what it produces, saying so long there is dependence on other countries for consumption there will be under-development.

Dangote informed the delegation led by ECOWAS Commission president, Dr Alieu Touray that the claim that the 650,000 barrel a day cannot meet the local consumption in nigeria, is further form the truth, adding that the Dangote Refinery can effectively supply petrol to all the countries in the region, because it has the capacity to do so.

The delegtion also  included ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalisation, Sediko Douka; Commissioner of Internal Services, Prof. Nazifi Abdullahi Darma; Director of Private Sector/SME, Dr Tony Luka Elumelu; and Dr Touray’s Chief of Staff, Hon Abdou Kolley, among others.

He explained that the refinery has proved that Africans can produce goods that are of global standards.

Dangote said. “This refinery is proof that we can build for ourselves at scale, to global standards,” Dangote said.

He added, “There have been many claims suggesting that we don’t even produce enough to meet Nigeria’s needs, so how could we possibly supply other West African countries? But now, they are here to see the reality for themselves and, more importantly, to encourage other nations to embark on similarly large-scale industrial projects.”

He said the Dangote Refinery has consistently crashed the price of PMS, from N1,700 to less than N1000 per litre since the refinery began production last year, adding that the refinery has also benefited other sectors such as Agriculture, Mining and others, aside from assisting in bringing down the cost of production in the country.

“Last year, when we began diesel production, we were able to reduce the price from N1,700 to N1,100 at a go, and as of today, the price has crashed further. This reduction has made a significant impact across various sectors. It has supported industries, benefited those of us in mining, and provided vital relief to the agricultural sector. The effect has been far-reaching.

“In neighbouring countries, the average price of petrol is around $1 per litre, which is N1,600. But here at our refinery, we’re selling at between N815 and N820. Many Nigerians don’t realise that they are currently paying just 55% of what others in the region are paying for petrol. We also have a much larger initiative in the pipeline, something we’ve not yet announced, but Nigerians should know that this refinery is built for them, and they will enjoy the maximum benefit from it,” he said.

End The Pain, Hardship, Insecurity, CNPP Tells Tinubu

0
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President Tinubu

The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), after a thorough review of the first two years of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, expresses deep concern over the worsening state of the nation. Two years into the much-publicized “Renewed Hope” agenda, what Nigerians have experienced instead is renewed hardship, deepening poverty, and growing insecurity. This mid-term assessment is not a partisan attack, but a sincere, patriotic call to action — a necessary intervention aimed at urging the government to change course before irreparable damage is done to the soul of our nation.

The Tinubu administration began with bold economic steps, notably the abrupt removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira. While these policies were theoretically sound and aimed at correcting long-term structural imbalances, their execution lacked proper planning and human-centered cushioning. The result has been catastrophic for the average Nigerian. Inflation skyrocketed and remained very high, food and transportation costs have reached unbearable levels, and the national currency has remained dangerously unstable above N1, 500.00 to a dollar exchange rate.  Despite claims of economic reform, the masses have seen no meaningful relief. Poverty levels have increased, and businesses, especially small-scale enterprises, continue to struggle under the burden of unpredictable costs and weak purchasing power.

Insecurity remains one of the most troubling aspects of this administration’s performance. From rural communities in Zamfara to highways in Niger, and farmlands in Benue to suburbs of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigerians live in fear of bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, and armed robbers. Despite changes in military leadership and various operations launched, the sense of national security has not improved very significantly despite the genuine efforts of the Ministry of Defence and the Service Chiefs. Citizens generally are no longer confident in the ability of the government to protect lives and property in many parts of the country. The CNPP believes that Nigeria has reached a critical juncture and therefore calls for a declaration of a state of emergency on insecurity. There must be a renewed and better integrated national security strategy that involves the armed forces, police, local communities, and civil society. Police reform must no longer be delayed — we need decentralization, community policing, and modern intelligence-based operations to reclaim the country from chaos. The Nigeria Police Force should immediately be repositioned for internal security operations as one of the armed forces closest to the masses.

Governance under this administration has also raised serious questions about transparency, accountability, and meritocracy. Many appointments into sensitive government positions, especially in procurement and finance, have been perceived as political rewards rather than being based on competence. The anti-corruption war has largely lost steam, with little or no significant convictions or institutional reform and there is no convincing efforts towards recovery of looted funds by the appointees of immediately past administration, except for the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which is largely seen as a vendetta for his role in Naira redesign ahead of the 2023 general elections.  Nigerians are witnessing a return to the same patronage politics that the administration promised to depart from. The CNPP urges the President to end the culture of favoritism in appointments and reinvigorate anti-corruption agencies with fresh leadership and genuine independence. Budget transparency must be prioritized, and civil society must be allowed to monitor public spending and procurement processes without obstruction.

Unemployment, especially among youths, continues to pose a serious threat to national stability. Young Nigerians are losing faith in their country. Many are fleeing abroad in search of survival, while those who remain are battling idleness, frustration, and despair. The CNPP strongly urges President Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on unemployment. A new, coordinated national plan must be created to absorb millions of jobless youths through skill acquisition, agro-industrial projects, digital training, and support for small and medium enterprises. A National Youth Empowerment Corps should be launched with immediate effect, aimed at creating jobs across key sectors and rebuilding the dignity of work.

The electricity sector, two decades after privatization, remains in disarray. Power supply is abysmal, the grid collapses persist, and Nigerians continue to spend fortunes on diesel and petrol for private generators. No nation can grow with such erratic energy. CNPP calls on the Tinubu administration to declare a state of emergency in the electricity sector. The current power sector framework must be renegotiated and enforced with performance-based benchmarks. Government should invest in renewable energy solutions to serve off-grid communities and reduce pressure on the national grid.

Education and healthcare remain in deplorable conditions. Our universities and primary schools are underfunded, poorly equipped, and perpetually at risk of strikes. Hospitals are either dilapidated or too expensive for ordinary citizens. The administration has not demonstrated the political will to transform these essential sectors. CNPP calls for an urgent increase in funding for both sectors and for partnerships with private and non-profit actors to improve service delivery. Universal health coverage must be implemented for the most vulnerable Nigerians, while the education sector must be rescued from its current decay with a long-term, well-funded strategy.

On the foreign policy front, the CNPP notes with concern that the country’s international engagements, including ECOWAS interventions and foreign investment trips, have yielded little direct benefit for the Nigerian people. The crisis in Niger Republic and other regional tensions have exposed a disconnect between Nigeria’s diplomatic posturing and its domestic preparedness. We advise the President to reduce unnecessary foreign trips and focus more on trade diplomacy, diaspora engagement, and regional cooperation that yields measurable benefits for Nigerians at home.

Overall, two years into the Tinubu presidency, Nigerians are more burdened, more insecure, and more disillusioned than ever. The promises of renewed hope have not materialized in daily life of ordinary citizens. The CNPP calls on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to realign his leadership with the urgent needs of the Nigerian people. We recommend a national policy recalibration, beginning with a cabinet reshuffle to bring in competent, reform-minded professionals into this government. The next two years must not be a continuation of policy failure and elite-centered governance. The President must open the doors to national dialogue, embrace civil society and opposition voices, and put the people first.

Nigeria can still be salvaged, but time is running out. The CNPP believes that only through urgent, sincere, and people-centered action can this administration begin to redeem itself. The days of excuses and self-praise must end. The time to govern with empathy, competence, and vision is now and the needless focus on 2027 politics and re-election bids should be stopped immediately for the governments to minimise distractions and face the primary responsibility of ensuring the security and welfare of citizens. The Nigerian people deserve no less in the next two years of this administration.

“You Have Lost Political Relevance, You Have Sunk” – Tinubu’s Aide Fires Amaechi

0
Rotimi Amaechi and Bola Tinubu

By Adesina Soyooye

“While you weep, Jagaban leads with grace, maturity, statesmanship and the mandate of millions. You claim to have denied him your support, yet he swept Rivers State. The eagle doesn’t lose sleep over the noise of chickens”

The Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on New Media, Olabamji Enitan Jowosimi, has descended very heavily on a former two-term Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi over his comments on Tinubu’s incapacity to lead Nigeria.

Amaechi, who was also Nigeria’s Minister for Transportation for eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari, had said at a lecture in his honour, in Abuja, on Saturday to mark his 60th Birthday that Tinubu lacks the capacity to lead Nigeria.

He revealed that it was because of his conviction that Tinubu has no such capacity that he told the President, to his face, that he would neither work with him, campaign for him, nor vote for him. He more than hinted that Tinubu’s type hardly care for the people, but only interested in their pockets. Amaechi, also, said he was with the grand opposition to sweep the President out of office in 2027, and was confident it would work.

Buy in a swift and strongly-worded reaction to Amaechi’s hard comments against Tinubu, Jowosimi dismissed Amaechi as irrelevant in the politics of Rivers State and Nigeria. He, also,  dismissed Amaechi as a “self-anointed candidate” a reference to some talks in the months leading to the Presidential Primary that Buhari had anointed him as his successor before it zeroed down to former Senate President, Dr Ahmed Lawan. However, Tinubu out-witted them all, picked the ticket and finally became the President.

In his post where he tackled Amaechi, he said of the  birthday lecture: “The desperate gathering of sore losers is no threat to a man born to win.”

Jowosimi mocked Amaechi over his non-relevance in the scheme of things in Rivers State saying that even without his support, President  Tinubu won the Presidential election in Rivers State. He taunted him for his inability to deliver Rivers State to tye APC either as a sitting Governor or as Director General of the Presidential Campaign

The full text of his post reads: “I told Tinubu I was not going to vote for him” – Rotimi Amaechi, the self-acclaimed ‘anointed’  candidate.

“The desperate gathering of sore losers is no threat to a man born to win.

“You withheld your support – yet he swept Rivers State. A State you couldn’t deliver either as a sitting Governor or as DG of the campaign. Physician, heal thyself.

“You didn’t vote for him? Over 8 million Nigerians did. Today, he sits confidently in the Villa as President.

Guess where you sit? In lowly company with co-wailers, crying over spilled political milk.

“And no, let’s not apply BBL – this wasn’t about capacity. It was the bitter pill of a primary loss that your pride couldn’t swallow. A political opportunist with one worn out strategy – Presidential anointing.

“When the oil don’t  drop, your ambition dried up. Defeat became your destiny, and malice became your message.

How poetic?

“Truth is, if anyone should feel slighted, it should be the man who visited you personally – extending a hand to keep the house united. But what did you do? You slammed the door and sulked in the corner.

“No surprises here – Asiwaju knows betrayal like the back of his hand. He’s played this game too long to be ambushed by the antics of desperate neophytes.

“While you weep, Jagaban leads – with grace, maturity, statesmanship, and the mandate of millions.

You claim to have denied him your support, yet, he soars while you sink.

“Make it make sense? It already does.

“The palm tree doesn’t fear the envy of shrubs. The eagle doesn’t lose sleep over the noise of chickens.

“In the end, winners win.

Losers whine.

“Good evening severally…”

Tinubu Does Not Have The Capacity To Lead Nigeria – Amaechi

0
Rotimi Amaechi and Bola Tinubu2
Rotimi Amaechi and President Bola Tinubu

By Gideon Njoku

No former Governor of Rivers State, including the man Amaechi publicly said played a major role in his life, Dr. Peter Odili, was present

A former two-time Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that President Bola Tinubu does not have the capacity to either govern Nigeria, or lift it out from the doldrums.

Amaechi who was also Nigeria’s Minister for Transportation under the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari also disclosed that the President knows his opinion about his capacity.

Speaking at a lecture in Abuja to mark his 60th birthday, Amaechi said it was because of the capacity-deficit of the President to lead Nigeria that he told Tinubu that he, Amaechi, was not prepared to work with his Government.

The foundation member of the APC also revealed that he neither campaigned for Tinubu nor voted for him.

Amaechi: “I met President Tinubu in Yola and I told him I will not work for you, and I will not vote for you.

“I told him like that. People have been saying I do not work for All People’s Congress (APC), or Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). That is because I was convinced that there was an issue of capacity.”

The theme of the birthday lecture was “Weaponization of Poverty” and it was attended by a high profile audience which included the Emir of Kano, Sule Lamido Sanusi, Prof Wole Soyinka, former Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai,   former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, several traditional rulers, many others and a whole lot Amaechi’s loyalists from Rivers State.

Incidentally, no past Governor of Rivers State, including the man who he said ranks only second in his life to his biological father, Dr. Peter Odili, was present. Not a few people counted that as a minus for the celebrant.

Amaechi, also, lamented the disaster voting on religious and tribal sentiments have wrought on Nigeria. His words:

“Let me tell you, no Nigerian leader cares for the poor, because they know that Nigerians can do nothing to them once they are in power. When Nigerians protested, the President announced an increase in the price of fuel because they know you cannot do anything.

“Nigerian leaders and elites are not the problem of Nigeria; the problem of Nigeria is the followers.

“We say Nigeria is a capitalist country, but capitalists are those who invest in production, however, Nigeria does not produce anything, we just want to feast on the revenue gotten from crude oil.

“I was ashamed of one of my appointees when I was the Minister of Transport. I appointed her to improve and turnaround things around, unfortunately, she was more interested in speaking Hausa/Fulani to the President.”

“An ordinary Northerner who is a Muslim has no problem with the ordinary Southerner who is a Christian. It is when they come to elections, they will tell you.

“Now you have a Muslim-Muslim ticket. Let the Muslim-Muslim market come out now. It’s time. We are all hungry. All of us are. If you are not hungry, I am”

Speaking on  the 2027 Presidential Elections Amaechi insisted that Tinubu could be beaten in 2027 if the opposition work together and added that beating Tinubu in 2027 is one of the reasons he is in opposition.

Amaechi was was beaten to a distant second place by Tinubu in the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Primaries. Amaechi had alleged after his defeat that the Primary was corrupted by money. Since that defeat, Americans has given both the Party and President Tinubu a lot of space. And, now, finally, he has joined the opposition and publicly says “Tinubu should go!”

Wike Alerts Abuja Residents Of Shortfall In Water Supply

Nyesom Wike - FCT Minister
Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister

By Ayodele Oni

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja are to experience rationing of public water supply from now till during the Sallah celebration

Two out of the water plants supplying the Federal Capital are undergoing major routine rehabilitation.

Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, explained that the present lack of water supply  in the City Centre and some satellite towns is due to a major rehabilitation of two of the four water treatment plants responsible for the production and supply of water to the residents.

The Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media,  Lere Olayinka, in a statement on Sunday,  said that water supply to the residents will be rationed for a period of two weeks, as only two water treatment plants will be in use, while the other two are  undergoing rehabilitation.

He appealed to the residents to bear with the FCTA, assuring that rehabilitation of the two plants, which is to ensure better service delivery will be completed before two weeks.

The Minister also said that to mitigate the effects of the partial shutdown of water production and supply during the sallah celebration, the two plants being rehabilitated will be temporarily put on to supply water to residents during the sallah festive period.

He explained that; “The FCT Water Board operates four water treatment plants of 30,000m3/hour, which are divided into Phases 1, 2, 3 and 4.

“As a result of the inefficiency of the plants, which are currently producing below their installed capacity, contract was awarded for their rehabilitation.

“The rehabilitation works have reached an advanced stage on Phases 1 and 2 where the Electro-mechanical equipment, which is the prime mover of the treatment plants are to be replaced and reinstalled. This warranted a total shutdown of the two plants, which are interconnected.

“However, Phases 3 and 4 water treatment plants are operational but won’t sustain, meet or cater for the demand of the populace.

“Therefore, what is being experienced is a partial shutdown, not a total shutdown of the entire potable water supply to the

residents of FCT as two of the water treatment plants are still in operation. But there is partial disruption on water production and supply to the residents.

“SCC is however working 24/7 to ensure that the works are concluded before the scheduled time.

“Consequently, in order to minimize the adverse effects on the FCT residents, the Water Board has made a time table on rationing by alternating between Lines 1 and 2 of the Distribution network.

“Residents are therefore urged to store enough water to cater for their needs during this period as supply will be rationed.”
