ADC Promises To Release Manifesto Within Weeks

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has assured Nigerians that it’s set to release its manifesto in a matter of  “few weeks”.The party, a coalition of opposition forces in the country, that has resolved to unseat the ruling APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from power, said it’s set to give Nigerians a better life.

A party’s manifesto contains the programmes it plans to execute if it wins an election.

Bolaji Abudullahi, ADC’s Acting National Publicity Secretary made the promise on Tuesday while speaking on Channels Television programme Sunrise Daily.

According to him, the APC government has failed Nigerians by making life difficult for them, citing the removal of fuel subsidy and convergence of the Naira exchange rate as the biggest mistake of the ruling party , stressing that the removal should not have been done at the same time, because of the implications on the economy and livelihoods of the people.

The ADC spokesman spoke barely 24 hours after the party criticised the recently decision of the federal government to rebase the economy.

The NBS, the federal government agency while releasing the rebasing results on Monday said the nation’s GDP is now $243 billion, noting that the economy has rebounded.

Nigeria has now fallen to fourth largest economy in Africa based on the results released by the NBS, behind South Africa, Egypt and Algeria.

Reacting to the NBS figures, ADC said Nigeria is living on borrowed robes, stressing that the NBS “dressed up numbers that make the government look good,” noting that the nation’s GDP which once stood at over $500 billion has seriously nosedived to half that figure under APC.

ADC: “Economic growth is not about dressed up numbers that make the government look good. Economic growth means nothing if it leaves majority of the people behind and is not felt on the dining table, and in the marketplace.”

“Ordinarily, GDP rebasing is a neutral statistical tool to reflect structural changes in the economy. But in the hands of this government, it has become a mirror, exposing the economic decay and leadership failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the years.

“Nigeria’s GDP, which stood at $509 billion in 2014 after a previous rebasing, has now collapsed to $244 billion. In a single decade, Nigeria has fallen from Africa’s largest economy to fourth place, now behind South Africa, Egypt, and Algeria.”

Amaechi’s Wife Dares Wike: “Provide NDDC Report That Indicted Me, Or Resign As Promised”

0

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

Wife of former Governor of Rivers State, Dame Judith Amaechi, has challenged the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to urgently avail the public a copy of the NDDC forensic audit that reportedly indicted her of corruption.

This is as she urged Wike, a former Governor of the State to also be courageous and honourable enough to resign his appointment in the event he fails to produce the so-called audit report as he had earlier boasted.

The Source reports that Wike, an estranged political ally of Rotimi Amaechi, had in one his media outings early in July, alleged that the former Rivers State First Lady got a princely sum of N4 billion monthly payment from the interventionist agency for women empowerment and training in the Niger Delta region during the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to him, Judith Amaechi was indicted by a forensic audit report on the activities of NDDC over the humongous amount she collected without much to show for it.

While urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to make public the said audit report, Wike vowed to resign his appointment should his allegations against Mrs Amaechi turn out to be false.

But in a statement on Tuesday, July, 22, 2025, signed by Dike Bekwele her spokesperson, Dame Judith described the FCT Minister’s allegation as not only absurd, but also baseless.

While categorically debunking the claim of her indictment, Mrs Amaechi noted that Wike’s unwarranted allegations are mere blackmail for the purpose of achieving cheap political goals.

Dame Judith in the statement insisted that there is no iota of truth in the entire narrative spewed by Wike, and noted that it was all part of his self declared war against her husband, Rotimi Amaechi .

“Dame Amaechi did not, and has never received four billion Naira  (N4,000,000,000) monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NNDC.

The partnership between the Empowerment Support Initiative, ESI, and the NDDC is reciprocal, to jointly fund human capacity programmes, and training for the teeming youth and women; supporting nano ,micro ,small and medium scale entrepreneurs ,and its entrepreneurial development centre for youth and women of the Niger Delta region.

“It will be preposterous for Wike to allege that the Empowerment Support Initiative, ESI, or Dame Judith Amaechi, was indicted in the NDDC forensic audit report which has not been published to the Nigerian public.

“It is both absurd, baseless and a mere figment of Mr Wike’s imagination.

“We challenge Wike to make public the  NDDC forensic audit report that indicted Dame Judith Amaechi.

“In the likely event that Wike fails to provide such report, then we challenge Mr Wike’ to actuate his boast ,and make bold to tender his resignation as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, forthwith, with an unreserved apology to the nation”, Dame Judith stated*

Following the full text of Mrs Amaechi’s response to Wike.

RE: WIKE’s NDDC N4 BILLION MONTHLY PAYMENT ALLEGATIONS AGAINST DAME JUDITH AMAECHI AND THE ESI: DEBUNKING THE UTTERLY BASELESS ALLEGATION AND FALSEHOOD, A REBUTTAL

Our attention has been drawn aback to a live television interview wherein a wild and unfounded allegation of corruption was made against Dame Judith Amaechi and the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory on a live National Television.

In one of his rather cyclic, hysteric, poor and recurring live television outings, Nyesom Wike, in his habitual manner, accused Dame Amaechi and the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) of receiving FOUR BILLION NAIRA (₦4,000,000,000.00) monthly from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC; a Report that has jostled well meaning Nigerians and has elicited calls and inquiry about the veracity of this story. We would have ignored the Minister’s ranting as it is a mere blackmail intended to undermine the reputation and integrity of Her Excellency and the ESI, but it is imperative to state the obvious in the interest of right thinking Nigerian Citizens.

Mr. Wike made these allegations without any iota of decency, and with disregard to the precision of facts, rather to a mere vainglory in a bid to score cheap political goals.

For the records, and in debunking these falsehoods, we wish to dismiss the allegations as untrue and categorically state the following:

  1. There is absolutely no iota of veracity in the allegation made by Mr. Wike against Dame Amaechi and the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI). Dame Amaechi did not and has never received FOUR BILLION NAIRA monthly payments (₦4,000,000,000.00) from the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
  2. The Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), was duly incorporated in 2011 as a Non-Governmental Organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission, and it has secured partnerships and collaborations with a memorandum of understanding with development partners including the interventionist agency, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
  3. The partnership, between the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) and the NDDC are reciprocal, to jointly fund human capacity programmes and trainings for the teeming youths and women; supporting nano, micro, Small and medium scale entrepreneurs, and its entrepreneurial Development center for youths and women of the Niger Delta Region.
  4. This partnership has been successfully executed since its commencement to the satisfaction of both Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) and the NDDC, with numerous youths and women within the Niger Delta region benefitting from the scheme for self-reliance and sustainability.
  5. Quite contrary to the falsehood concocted and diffused by Mr. Nyesom Wike, the counterpart funding between the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) and the NDDC is in public glare for scrutiny.
  6. It will be preposterous for Wike to allege that the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) or Dame Judith Amaechi was indicted in the NDDC forensic audit report which has not been published to the Nigerian Public. It is both absurd, baseless, and a mere figment of Mr. Wike’s imaginations.
  7. The Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) enjoys a robust partnership and relationship with its development partners including the NDDC. Such relationship has provided interventions in critical areas of the region, including empowerment of the youths and women in vocation and skills required for middle -level manpower by corporate organizations in the Niger Delta Region. Again, the allegation of an indictment of Dame Amaechi and the ESI is only a subtle blackmail to score cheap political goals.

We expect that Minister Nyesom Wike will remain patient to his prayers answered on the unpublished NDDC forensic audit report, than to engage and indulge in media trial on a Live National telecast.

We therefore, challenge Mr. Wike to make public his version of the forensic audit report on the Niger Delta Development Commission where either Dame Judith Amaechi or the ESI were indicted. In the likely event that Wike fails to provide such report, then we challenge Mr. Wike to actuate his boast and make bold to tender his resignation as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, forthwith with an unreserved apology to the Nation.

Finally, may we advise Mr. Wike to stop bringing the country’s image to disrepute as his uncouth and uncultured attitude is capable of undermining and under-marketing the nation’s effort at attracting foreign investors into the country.

“Why Tinubu Hates Amaechi, Stopped Him From Becoming Buhari’s CoS or SGF” – APC Chieftain, Chukwuemeka Eze

0
Rotimi Amaechi and Bola Tinubu

By Gideon Njoku

“On the eve of the (Presidential) Primaries, Buhari was at the edge of losing until Amaechi stepped in to save the situation”

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chukwuemeka Eze, has sensationally revealed the reason behind the no-love lost relationship between President Bola Tinubu and the immediate past Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi.

Eze, a close political ally of Amaechi, disclosed in a statement that the former Rivers Governor, stopped Tinubu from becoming  running mate to then APC Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari. For playing that role, which sprang-up Professor Yemi Osinbajo as Buhari’s running  mate, Tinubu never forgave Amaechi.

According to Eze, to hit back, Tinubu ensured that two high profile positions- Chief of Staff to the President and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation – reserved for Amaechi to pick one, were denied him.

Eze disclosed this in response to the claim made by Temitope Ajayi, President Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, that Tinubu made Buhari President in 2015. He said that the claim that Tinubu was the mastermind to Buhari’s ascent to the Presidential seat is  false.

In a statement he released on Tuesday, Eze, a solid member of APC Legacy Media Team, said it was important to correct the fallacy before it is taken as the Gospel truth.

According to him, Amaechi was more crucial to Buhari’s  emergence as the APC Candidate and final victory as President by not only being on the driver’s seat, but providing the much needed funds when Tinubu allegedly wanted to truncate it because Buhari did not pick him as running mate.

Eze: “The fact that the insensitive sponsored statement gained traction in the media space makes this rebuttal imperative.

“I don’t intend to join issues with Ajayi, but to demount the falsehood he intends to establish in the congregation of the reading public.”

Ajayi had, in a post on his social media handle, played down on Buhari’s famed 12 million votes from the North by claiming  that even though Buhari had his “12 million captive Northern votes” that did not give him victory at the presidential polls in 2003, 2007, and 2011. He only succeeded in 2015.

Ajayi: “General Buhari would not have won the APC primary election at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, in 2014, without President Tinubu, who mobilised the APC Governors and the South West delegates to move Buhari’s way.”

But  Eze debunked Ajayi’s statement and dismissed it as “a figment of his infantile imagination”.

His words: “Ajayi’s insinuation is a fairy tale, a false narrative that should be disconnected by right thinking Nigerians.

“Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, the former Governor of Rivers State remains an undisputed factor in the history book of top brass Nigerians that worked towards the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the eventual winner at the presidential polls.

“As a matter of fact, aside from becoming the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign, where he mobilized Nigerians to deliver Buhari during the elections, Barr. Amaechi raised funds that saw the election of Buhari as the APC Presidential candidate.

“On the eve of the Primaries, Buhari was at the verge of losing until Amaechi stepped in to save the situation.

“At least, the former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, as an insider in most of APC activities, should understand what he was saying about how Buhari became the President of Nigeria.

“I cannot remember seeing Temitope Ajayi, near APC activities during both the 2014 Presidential Primaries that elected Buhari as the APC Presidential candidate for him to know who made Buhari President or who contributed more in his emergence.”

Eze revealed that Tinubu had planned to disrupt Buhari’s victory if he was not made Buhari’s running mate. Eze said it was Amaechi and a few others who stood against Tinubu’s opposition by reasoning that facing PDP then with a Muslim-Muslim ticket was a no-no.

Said Eze: “That was how Osinbanjo (Yemi) was drafted into the map. And ever since then, Tinubu has always seen Amaechi as an adversary.

“Since then, Tinubu has not forgiven Amaechi for denying him this dream of becoming the Vice President of Nigeria; and set himself to ensure the decimation of Amaechi politically, with the feeling that Amaechi will become a stumbling block to his presidential ambition in future.”

Eze also revealed that to get back at Amaechi, Tinubu made sure  that Amaechi was neither made the Chief of Staff to President Buhari nor the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. These positions, according to Eze, were reserved for Amaechi to pick one after he successfully midwifed Buhari’s election as the President of Nigeria.

“Ajayi has lost memory, if not, why did he forget so soon that Amaechi, as the Campaign Director General of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Organisation defeated a sitting President?”

Eze, then reminded Ajayi that Amaechi’s role in ensuring Buhari’s  election o

against all odds, was the reason Tinubu  declared Amaechi as “the General of Revolution” and “not a chicken but Eagle”.

Buhari and Aisha

By Akinwale Kasali

Following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government has confirmed the entitlements the family will receive under the law that guides the welfare of families of past Heads of State and democratically elected President.

As stated in the Remuneration of Former Presidents and Heads of State (and Other Ancillary Matters) Act, Buhari’s widow, Aisha, will be receiving a monthly payment of ₦350,000 for her personal upkeep.

The family will also be given ₦1 million each year to support the education and welfare of the late president’s children, especially those still in school.

This amount will be released in four batches of ₦250,000 per quarter.

The Federal Government will also take full responsibility for all medical treatment needed abroad by Buhari’s widow and children, ensuring they do not face financial stress when seeking healthcare outside the country.

In addition, the family is entitled to a fully paid 30-day vacation each year, which can be taken either within Nigeria or abroad.

This will be funded entirely by the FG.

To ensure stable housing, a five-bedroom house will be provided to the family.

The location of the home will be decided by the family, and it will be fully furnished at no cost to them.

A direct phone line will also be installed for the family, and the Federal Government will handle all bills connected to it.

However, there is a condition attached to these benefits.

According to the law, once Buhari’s widow remarries, all the entitlements will be stopped immediately.

This rule applies to all spouses of Former Presidents.

By Akinwale Kasali

The Super Falcons of Nigeria has zoomed into the final of the ongoing Women African Cup of Nations, WAFCON, Championship in Morocco, defeating arch rivals, Bayana Bayana of South Africa 2-1.

The Super Falcons went into the match with an unchanged team that demolished the Copper Ladies of Zambia 5-0 with Chiamaka Nnadozie remaining in goal, with the quartet of Michelle Alozie, Osinachi Ohale, Blessing Demehin and Ashleigh Plumptre.

The midfield had Halimatu Ayinde, Josephine Echegini, Esther Okoronkwo, Rasheedat Ajibade and Folashade Ijamilusi, while  Chinwendu Ihezuo led the attack.

From the blast of the whistle, the Super Falcons dominated forcing South African Goalkeeper, Andile Dlamini, to make crucial saves before Rasheedat Ajibade converted from the Penalty Spot to give the Nigerian side the lead.

The Super Falcons never rested on their oars, shooting from all cylinders, not until Osinachi Ohale committed a foul in the 18 Yard Box, leading to a Penalty, which was converted by Motlhaho.

The South Africans however took control of the Match after the equalizer, pushing the Nigerians to defend.

However, an horrific injury to South African defender, Gabriella Salgado, affected the Bayana Bayana Ladies psychologically, as they couldn’t hold back tears.

As the game resumed, the Super Falcons capitalized on the devastating state of the South Africans, leading to a last gasp goal from Michelle Alozie from a cross that caught the players scrambling for the ball until it sailed into the back of the net.

With this victory, the Super Falcons are gunning for their 10th WAFCON title.

The Super Falcons will now  play Morocco which beat Ghana in a penalty shoot-out to zoom into the  Finals.

Wike Backs Governor Okpebholo Over Order On Peter Obi

Nyesom Wike - FCT Minister
Nyesom Wike.

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

Not a few people have, however, faulted Wike’s  comparison. When Obi visited Rivers, he was a Presidential Candidate, on a campaign. Unlike then, he visited Edo as an ordinary citizen. He was not on a campaign train

“Governor Okpebholo’,the statement you made is correct .Obi must inform you before coming to Edo state ”

With the above words ,the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike, gave a stamp of approval to the infamous declaration by the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, banning the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party LP Peter Obi from accessing the state without his prior information and approval.

The Source reports that Governor Okpebholo had, a couple of days ago, during a reception ceremony for decampees into the  APC ,in Uromi , pointedly directed Obi not to further step foot on Edo soil without his approval.

As it were, the statement has continued to elicit widespread indignation and condemnation across party, religious and ethnic lines ,with not a few describing the Governor’s position as not only laughable ,but utterly in breach of all known democratic principles, as well as abuse of power.

Senator Monday Okpebholo and Peter Obi
Senator Monday Okpebholo and Peter Obi

But not withstanding the near consensus condemnation of the Governor’s outburst, Wike noted that the Edo Governor was right to have asked Obi to give prior notice before visiting the state

Speaking at the official launch of the Edo State mass transit buses in Benin, the State Capital, the immediate past Governor of Rivers state, explained that as the Chief security Officer of the State, the  Governor will be held to account for anything that happens to Obi, while in the State.

According to him, at the level of Obi, as a former Presidential Candidate ,and an active player at that level of politics, the Edo State Governor should not be condemned for demanding a prior information before any visit to the State

This is as he completely dismissed claims among many commentators suggesting that the Edo state Governor threatened Obi’s life.

” When I was Governor of Rivers State, when Peter Obi was coming to my State, he notified me, and I provided vehicles and logistics for him  because at that level, as a presidential candidate, anything that happened to him will be my fault” Wike noted.

While berating those he described as political merchants, trying to build political capital from the development , the FCT Minister insisted that the statement was made by the Governor with utmost good intentions.

He advised Governor Okpebholo not to allow himself to be distracted by the unnecessary dust being raised in some quarters by habitual detractors.

However, not a few people have faulted Wike equating Obi’s visit to Rivers State when Wike was Governor, and  his visit now to Edo State. They argue that the difference is that Obi visited Rivers as a Presidential Candidate on a campaign train, unlike his visit to Benin as a Nigerian citizen, as a philanthropist.

Amaechi Formally Quits APC

Rotimi Amaechi

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, has finally parted ways with the All Progressive Congress APC.

The immediate past Minister of Transportation under the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari, who played a central role in  coupling together the ruling party in 2014, however, expressed regrets that the APC has irredeemably lost its ideals and values ,thus prompting his exit.

In his letter of resignation dated July 1,2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the APC ward 8 ,in Ikwerre Local Council of Rivers State, Amaechi one of the leading figures behind the nascent opposition Coalition platform the African Democratic Congress, ADC, noted that the party that they sweated to form and give direction, has unfortunately become a platform of pain, failure and anguish ,with no iota of empathy for the people.

Amaechi  also emphasized that he is quitting the APC to join forces with like minds and other patriotic Nigerians in nurturing an alternative platform for the rescue of the populace from the ” fangs of failure, pain and anguish into which they have been thrown by the APC led administration at the centre.

” After a wide range of consultations, I am convinced that this is the appropriate moment to call it quits as the party has derailed from the lofty ideals that birthed it ,and so can no longer inspire hopes in Nigeria for a greater future.

“I have, therefore, taken a decision to join forces with well-meaning compatriots to start a fresh journey for the liberation of Nigeria”, Amaechi stated .

His decision to formally and fully identify with the Coalition movement, is coming on the heels of that of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who, recently, left his troubled Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to fully concentrate on the ADC project.

Although, prominent figures of the Coalition, ADC, including Peter Obi of the Labour, and former Governor of Kaduna State Malam Nasir El-Rufai, are yet to  officially sign on, they are, however, fully committed to its goals.

(Osun) PDP endorses Tinubu for second term, says he is a son of the soil

The stiff opposition by prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Osun state may have compelled Governor Ademola Adeleke to shelve his earlier decision to defect to the party.

During the last caucus meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Osun State, members endorsed the move by the Governor to decamp to the APC with an assurance by members to follow him.

However, at its last meeting in Osogbo, the leadership of the PDP stated that

“the majority of the members of the APC in Osun State are opposed to the idea of the defection of Governor Adeleke to the APC, which did not originate from the Governor in the first instance.

“Some APC leaders, based on entrenched interests have demonstrated hostility and resentment towards Governor Ademola Adeleke. Some went on social media and national television to call Governor Adeleke all kinds of unprintable names.

“That the majority of PDP members in Osun State are not happy about the idea of the defection of Governor Adeleke to APC, but only reluctantly agreed to follow Governor Adeleke to wherever he goes to show their love, support and loyalty to his leadership.

“That the State Governor, the State Government, and the PDP as a political party remain very popular and acceptable above all other political parties in Osun State.

“Consequently, the leaders hereby resolve as follows:

“That the PDP in Osun State recognizes the  fact that Osun State is the ancestral home of  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which makes the President the son of Osun State.

“Therefore, the PDP in Osun State hereby, adopts, and endorses President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

“That PDP in Osun State reaffirms its adoption and endorsement of  Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election in the 2026 governorship election on the platform of the PDP.

“That  Governor Ademola Adeleke and all members of the PDP in Osun State should remain in the PDP.

“That the leadership of the PDP in Osun State is directed to disseminate the resolution to all structures of the party in the state; and

“That the State Governor is enjoined to forge ahead with governance and implementation of the administration’s Five Point Agenda.”

All leaders present at the meeting endorsed the decision.
