NNPP Kano Expels Reps Member For Anti Party Activities

A member of the House of Representatives from Kano state, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has been expelled from the New Nigeria’s People’s Party, (NNPP).

The leadership of the NNDP in the state while announcing the expulsion, cited what it called anti-party activities and failure to meet his financial obligations to the party.

Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, the party’s state chairman, told journalists in Kano on Saturday, that the decision followed what he described as Mr. Jibrin’s repeated attacks on the NNPP and its leadership in the media.

Mr. Dungurawa dismissed the lawmaker as a “weak politician” whose electoral victory was less about personal strength and more about the party and its influential Kwankwasiyya movement, led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

“If he were truly strong politically, he would have won his election under the APC, but he failed. It was only when he joined the NNPP through Kwankwasiyya that he became a House of Representatives member. Now he is deceiving himself, thinking he is strong.”

The chairman said a reconciliation committee was initially set up to engage Mr. Jibrin after his appearance on Channels Television, where he criticized the party.

But according to him, a subsequent media outing confirmed that the lawmaker had “crossed the line.

“Instead of dialogue, he went further to work against our interest, openly declaring loyalty outside the party. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add,” Mr. Dungurawa said.

He further accused Mr. Jibrin of defaulting on the payment of party dues, saying the NNPP would take legal action to recover the money.

“We will drag him to court to recover what he owes the party. It is a constitutional requirement for every member to pay dues, but he has consistently failed to do so.”

On speculation that Mr. Jibrin may return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Dungurawa said such a move would not weaken the NNPP, insisting that “politics is about groups and coalitions” and that the Kwankwasiyya movement remained firmly behind Mr. Kwankwaso.

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Saturday vowed that his administration would not relent in the pursuit of justice for victims of the June 5, 2022 terrorists’ attack in Owo, describing security as a top priority for the state.

He made this commitment while speaking at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Akure, during the 15th Episcopal and 35th Priestly Ordination Anniversaries of the Bishop of Ondo Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Jude Ayodeji Arogundade, where he was the Special Guest of Honour.

Speaking on the Owo massacre, the Governor recalled with pain how about 40 worshippers were killed when terrorists armed with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and rifles attacked St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo.

He added that dozens of survivors still carry the scars of the attack.

He revealed that security agencies, through collaboration between the federal and state governments, have arrested suspects linked to the attack, including Idris Omeiza, Al-Quasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Abubakar, who are now being prosecuted by the Department of State Security (DSS).

“We pray that the memories of the Owo victims be blessed forever. As we continue to seek justice for them, let us stand together against terror’s might and other forms of criminalities.

“In unity and love, we will find the strength to heal the wounds, mend broken hearts, and ensure a safer Sunshine State,” Aiyedatiwa declared.

Governor Aiyedatiwa described Bishop Arogundade as a beacon of hope and an embodiment of peace, justice, and human dignity, whose pastoral leadership has touched countless lives in Ondo State and beyond.

The Governor praised the Catholic Church for its significant contributions to education, healthcare, and social development in the state and the country.

He noted that his administration has continued to invest heavily in security infrastructure, disclosing that 75 Hilux vehicles, equipped with modern security gadgets, were recently procured to strengthen operations of security agencies in the state. According to him, this is in addition to the monthly provision of logistics to security operatives.

“The combined effect of this collaboration is the wide acknowledgement of Ondo State as one of the most secured and safest in Nigeria. While our people carry on their daily businesses with a sense of safety, it has also translated to massive investors coming to do business in Ondo State,” he said.

In his remarks, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, Most Rev. Jude Arogundade, expressed appreciation to the people and government for the return of missionary schools to the church.

He assured that the institutions would remain committed to providing quality education anchored on sound moral values to groom future leaders.

Marking 35 years of priesthood and fifteen years as Bishop of the Ondo Diocese, Bishop Arogundade also reflected on his pastoral journey, urging the newly ordained priests to remain steadfast in their devotion to God and service to humanity.

“The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, had been on the trail of the suspect and his accomplices for some time.

“How  Sujimoto CEO, Ogundele, Defrauded Enugu Govt. Of NBillions”

“It is business gone awry” – Ogundele

Enugu State Government has revealed that the CEO of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, Olasijibomi Ogundele, just declared wanted by the Economic, Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), defrauded the state of nearly N6bn, insisting that his recent theatrics amounted to nothing more than crocodile tears.

Ogundele had been declared wanted by the anti graft agency for alleged diversion of funds and money laundering.

The EFCC alleged that Ogundele diverted funds and laundered money, specifically in relation to a contract with the Enugu State Government and a $325,000 real estate deal.

Reacting to the allegations, Ogundele maintained that the issue involved is a business deal gone wrong, due to currency depreciation and increased construction costs.

According to him, Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited is a prominent real estate firm in Nigeria, known for luxury residential and commercial projects.

But, the state government, in a statement, stated that Ogundele deliberately orchestrated a premeditated fraud, disappearing after pocketing the sum meant for the construction of 22 Smart Green Schools across different parts of the state.

These clarifications were contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Enugu State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Malachy Agbo. The government further alleged that although Ogundele presented a bond issued by Jaiz Bank to secure the contract, he cleverly diverted the funds into a Zenith Bank account registered with the state’s Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, thereby frustrating the possibility of holding Jaiz Bank accountable.

“For the avoidance of doubt, on July 2, 2024, the Enugu State Government awarded a contract in the sum of N11,457,930,950.52 to Sujimoto Luxury Construction Ltd for the construction of 22 Smart Schools (buildings only) in six months starting from the date of the acceptance of the award.

“The Enugu State Government paid the sum of N5,762,565,475.25, representing 50 per cent of the contract sum, in order to fast-track the projects at all the sites.

“Rather than play to the rules of the contract to deliver quality projects for furnishing and equipping ahead of September 2025 school resumption, in line with the priority placed on the Smart Green Schools initiative by the government, Mr. Ogundele resorted to shoddy jobs and the use of inexperienced workers and quack engineers.

“None of his sites met the structural integrity of the projects as specified in the structural drawing.

“Worse still, he vanished into thin air with the money. All efforts made by the government to get him to a roundtable to discuss the quality and progress of work proved abortive.

“He equally refused to attend the periodic projects briefing organised by the state government for all contractors or take numerous calls and messages put across to him.

“In fact, he practically abandoned the sites, leaving the Enugu State Government with no other choice than to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to recover the funds paid to him.”

The government confirmed that the abandoned sites had been re-awarded to new firms who had to restart the projects from scratch.

“It stressed that “tremendous progress” was now being made to ensure Governor Peter Mbah’s vision of migrating Enugu children to Smart Green Schools by September remained on track.

“Nigerians should therefore disregard his theatrics and crocodile tears, as Enugu State Government is determined to and will surely recover every penny of Ndi Enugu fraudulently obtained by Mr. Olasijibomi Ogundele (Sujimoto),” the statement concluded.

The government also released pictures of the abandoned project sites taken during the joint inspection with the EFCC on May 8 and 9.

Shettima Birthday - APC Youth Release Of 59 Inmates

By Ayodele Oni

Some inmates from the Bauchi Correctional Facility, numbering 59, have been released and 59 orphans received financial aid, as part of activities marking the 59th birthday of vice president Kashim Shettima.

The gestures were courtesy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament, North-East.

Speaking during the event in Bauchi on Friday, the Parliament’s Chairman, Kabiru Garba Kobi, said that the gesture symbolises Shettima’s 59 years of life and service to humanity.

“We paid millions of naira to settle fines and compensations for 59 inmates, enabling them to regain freedom.

“We also supported 59 orphans with cash and donated medicines for other prisoners. This is our way of celebrating a leader who has always been committed to the people.”

He described Shettima as a visionary and patriotic leader, whose humility and resilience continue to inspire young Nigerians.

Kobi compared Shettima’s impact on the North-East to that of the late Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, adding that youths across the country are proud of his achievements.

Other speakers at the event, including Imam Umar Yahuza and educationist Dr. Zuwaira Musa, emphasised the importance of supporting orphans and tackling the challenge of out-of-school children in Bauchi State.

Political activist Sabo Muhammad urged the Parliament to replicate the initiative across Bauchi’s zones, while also warning against moves to undermine Shettima’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.

He further encouraged residents to take the ongoing national voters registration seriously, noting that it remains the surest path to enthroning the government of their choice.

The event concluded with prayers for Vice President Shettima, wishing him long life, good health, and greater service to the nation.

One of the freed inmates, Bashir Ahmad, who was earlier fined N30,000, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries to both the APC Youth Parliament and the Vice President for securing their freedom and offering renewed hope.

El-Rufai, Others’ Police Summons: Atiku Warns, Calls On Citizens To Defend Democracy

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has flayed the Nigeria Police Force over the invitation extended to the former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai’s and seven other African Democratic Congress, ADC, leaders

Atiku, a prominent figure within the nascent opposition Coalition platform  said the police summons  represents a growing and  disturbing pattern of political intimidation of opposition forces by the “fidgeting administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

The Source reports that the Kaduna State Police Command, had, on Thursday September 4, 2025, asked El-Rufai and seven other members of the ADC Coalition to appear before it on September 8, for questioning.

In the letter of invitation dated September 4, 2025, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department SCIID Uzainu Abdullahi , directed El-Rufai and the others including the Kaduna State Chairman of ADC to appear for interrogation over allegations bordering on  public disturbance, mischief and causing of grievous bodily harm

Others summoned are Bashir Sa’idu , Jafaru Sani ,Ubaidulla Mohammed ( popular.as “30” , Nasiru Maikano , Aminu Abita ,and Rufai Hussaini,( otherwise known as ” Mikiya )

The invitation to El-Rufai and other co-accused came after the State Police authorities halted  a planned party meeting and subsequently   sealing the ADC  Headquarters in the state.

However, in statement on Friday, September 5, 2025, Atiku said the Kaduna incident, as well as others in Katsina,  Kebbi and other States of recent are clear signs of the country’s descent into authoritarianism .

“The summons of Malam Nasir El-Rufai and leaders of the ADC in Kaduna, the brazen attack on former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the violent disruption of the Katsina Elders Forum meeting on security reforms, are not isolated incidents .

“They signify a coordinated and dangerous assault on dissenting voices, civic freedom, and the very essence of pluralistic democracy.

“Power is transient. But history will harshly judge those who wield it against the people instead of in their service. Nigeria belongs to us, not just the ruling party ,or single individual” the former Vice President stated .

This is as he insisted that the criminalization of opposition forces and deployment of security agencies against political opponents have the dangerous potentials of threatening and derailing the country’s democratic process.

While expressing fears of the country relapsing into despotism and authoritarianism, Abubakar urged the citizenry to rise in defence of democracy.

“We Will Not Be Intimidated, ADC Reacts To Police Summons Of El-Rufai, Others”

Nasir El-Rufai and Kaduna ADC Office

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The opposition Coalition,  the African Democratic Congress, ADC, on Friday, September 5, 2025, expressed serious concern over the recent clampdown on its leaders across the country.

The party’s outcry is coming against the backdrop of the Kaduna Police Command’s summon of former Governor of Kaduna State  Malam Nasir El-Rufai and seven other leaders for questioning over allegations bordering on breach of public peace, and infliction of grievous bodily harm.

A letter  from the Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP in-charge of Criminal Investigation Department, SCIID, Uzainu Abdullahi  dated September 4,2025, directed El-Rufai and others to report to the  SCIID at the State headquarters on September 8 ,for interrogation.

Before the summon, the State authorities had earlier sealed the Kaduna State headquarters of the ADC ,after halting a planned meeting by stakeholders.

The Kaduna incident came just three days after suspected hired thugs attacked  and violently disrupted the convoy of the immediate past Attorney General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami in Kebbi State.

The violent incident, which resulted in injuries to several people and smashing of vehicles’ windshields, also, occurred almost at the same time a meeting of the Katsina Elders Forum was violently dispersed by some persons suspected to be hirelings of the Government.

In a statement by Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC’s spokesperson, on Friday, the Party,  while condemning the spate of harassment and intimidation of its leaders and members, cautioned the Nigeria Police against being used in implementing orchestrated plots to emasculate opposition elements across the country.

The party advised the police and other security agencies to focus their efforts and energies on how to combat  the growing insecurity in parts of the country, rather than dissipating energy  on enforcement of clearly politically motivated actions against the opposition.

While expressing deep concern over recent efforts by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to harass, intimidate and emasculate opposition voices, particularly, ADC leaders , the party warned that such unnecessary crackdown may have some serious and unintended consequences for the country’s democratic process.

According to ADC, it is disheartening to note that while the All Progressive Congress APC-led administration is busy unleashing the Police and other Security Agencies on the ADC leaders, bandits and other criminal elements undermining the country’s security are roaming unchallenged.

The ADC , especially, flayed the summon of El-Rufai and other leaders of the party by the Kaduna State Police Command as an unmitigated assault not just on the individuals concerned, but also the country’s democratic principles.

It expressed deep shock and surprise that the Nigeria Police is fast shedding its name to adorn the gab of an institution that has willingly made itself a ready tool in the hands of the APC-led Federal Government to intimidate and harass opposition  elements.

“We further demand that security agencies arrest and prosecute those responsible for the attack on Abubakar Malami’s convoy in Kebbi state ,as well as the violent thugs who disrupted our stakeholders meeting in Kaduna.

“The failure to bring these perpetrators to justice only emboldens further violence.

“In addition, we call for an internal disciplinary process within the police to investigate officers who were present during the incidents but failed to act .

“Those who stood by and allowed political violence to occur should not be wearing the uniform of the Nigerian state.

“We urge the Federal Government to redirect the focus of the Nigerian Police toward their primary duty –protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians, instead of being used as a tool of political manipulation.

“Our party will stand with our leaders and members. We will not be intimidated” part of the ADC statement reads .
