Returning separated Kano conjoined twins were on Friday September 12, 2025,  received by Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf , with a firm promise to extend far reaching support and assistance for their upbringing.

Hassana and Hussaina arrived  Kano from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where they were successfully separated through specialized surgery that saw over 30 medical professionals carrying out  a-14 hour surgery.

The Kano state Governor, alongside his Deputy, Comrade Abdulssalam Gwarzo, and other Cabinet members thronged the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on Friday to welcome the twins with a firm promise to extend all the needed post-surgery medical assistance.

The State Government, while receiving the twins, together with family members offered the State’s support in critical areas like  healthcare , education and future medical needs of the separated conjoined twins.

The Source reports that the conjoined twins triumphant entry is coming after two years of medical sojourn in Saudi Arabia.

They left the shores of Nigeria in October 2023 under the sponsorship of the custodians of the two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia — King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud ,and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

However, the crucial surgery was conducted at the famous King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in the King Abdulaziz Medical City, in Riyad the capital of the Kingdom.

38 Medical Professionals, drawn from different fields were involved in the landmark separation surgery.

Explaining the intricate processes that culminated in the success story, the Saudi Arabia Consulate Office in Kano informed that the conjoined twins were conducted a tedious and comprehensive medical examinations spanning several months.

The intense scrutiny later identified the lower abdomen, pelvis and spine as critical joining point areas considered to be too sensitive.

“After careful planning, a multi-disciplinary team of 38 consultants and specialists, including experts in pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics , urology, anaesthesia and plastic surgery, embarked on the delicate procedure.

“The surgery which unfolded in nine stages, lasted approximately 14 hours. Each stage required precise coordination to safely separate the twins and reconstruct their individual systems.

“The successful outcome was hailed as one of the most challenging, yet rewarding achievements of the Saudi program for separating Siamese twins”, a Saudi Arabia Consulate Medical report stated.

Teachers Protesting in Ondo State

By Ayodele Oni

No fewer than 2000 newly recruited teachers in Ondo State stormed the Governor’s  office at Alagbaka ,in Akure, the State capital on Friday to protest alleged recruitment exercise carried out by the Ondo State Government.

The exercise, which was carried out in 2024 gave them jobs as primary school teachers in the state but till date, none of them has received letters of appointment.

Carrying placards, the protesters claimed that, despite their efforts making sure they satisfied the required prerequisites , the government of the state refused them appointment letters.

”We have not seen this kind of situation where we were called, interviewed and posted to schools, yet no appointment letter.”

A woman, Mrs Veronica Ojo said that ondo state government scammed them after teaching for a whole term, no payment, no letter.

According to her, Ekiti has successfully employed six thousand teachers done in three batches, but here in ondo, it is nothing but a scam.

The said teachers stormed the governor’s office not minding the heavy downpour, showed their displeasure over what they all termed as Scam.

Placards with different inscriptions like: “Give us our employment letters, pay us our salary” and many others, were  displayed by the protesters.

Reacting, however,  the Chief Press Secretary to Ondo State Governor,  Ebenezer Adeniyan, stated that the protesters were those that got recruited through the backdoor.

According to him, they allegedly paid money to scammers that deceived them with fake appointment letters, purportedly issued by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM).

A Yoruba self determination Group, Apapo O’odua Koya, AOKOYA, has alleged that the renewed terror attack across the country is masterminded by a group of politicians under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC.

The group said the spate of renewed terrorist activities across the country is worrisome.

AOKOYA stated that a few days ago, 84 people, including women and Children, were killed in Yobe State, also in Egbe, Kogi State, Three Policemen were killed on Wednesday.

On the same day, three members of the local vigilante were mauled down by terrorists.

The group said the new upsurge in terrorism in some parts of the North, the Middle Belt and Yoruba territories are motivated by the desire of certain Fulani politicians and Fulani Emirs aimed at destabilising the country to pave the way either for a forceful victory of its allies in 2027.

AOKOYA said the renewed terrorist incursion into the South West is part of the game plot to set Nigeria on a path of perfidy.

The group also said that ahead of the 2027 Presidential election, Nigeria will witness unprecedented rise in terrorism and banditry as the cabal in the defunct CPC and and a Fulani section in the African Democratic Congress, ADC, unleashes armed groups hitherto distributed across the country to drive Nigeria to the edge of violence and ensure the Fulani stage a violent come-back to power.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Col Abimbola Sowunmi (rtd), it urged the Federal Government to investigate the Sultan of Sokoto, former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam El Rufai, the former Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami and the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

The group said Fulani politicians are responsible for providing huge funds for terrorist groups across the country with the main aim of causing chaos and mayhem for political reasons.

‘‘AOKOYA has conducted its own intelligence investigation through covert interviews of arrested terrorists.

“We have access to confidential information already supplied by arrested terrorists. We have also conducted investigation on victims of kidnapping. With the available information, Fulani politicians and Emirs are behind the current terrorist activities and the driving force is ethnic”, AOKOYA said.

The group said it, also, has access to foreign intelligence reservoir that confirm the involvement of Fulani politicians in terrorism financing.

The group said extremist Fulani politicians are up in arms against the current Federal Government for three reasons: The first reason is to force a return of power to either a Fulani person or someone they can control; prevent any attempt to tinker with the unitary structure of Nigeria and thirdly,  to regain control of Nigerian most strategic financial institutions like the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, which for years had become the Fulani pot of soup and source of cheap funds.

“To achieve this aim, the  CPC that Nigerians believes its defunct, still exist underground, with its canals and its allies in the ADC, are ready to turn Nigeria into a cemetery. The weapon at their hands is terrorism”, the statement reads.

AOKOYA said moderate Fulani are working hard to stop the extremist bloc but their efforts are currently insignificant.

It urged the Directorate of State Security, DSS,  and the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, NIA, to probe Sultan of Sokoto, Malami, El-Rufai and Abubakar Atiku.

“There is the urgent need to be ahead of political terrorism. It has the prospect of setting the country on premeditated violence”.

AOKOYA said the Fulani leadership is aware of the inevitable break up of Nigeria and are plotting to capture as many territories as possible before the inevitable war which they are working hard to promote and sponsor.

AOKOYA said non Fulani joining the ADC are ignorant and naive about the Fulani agenda which is to conquer Nigeria by force of arms,  mission that is absolutely impossible.

The Lagos State Government, through the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency, HEFAMAA, has announced that it is illegal and a crime for any Health Facility in the State to train, or employ Auxiliary Nurses.

It has, therefore, stated that any Health Facility engaging in such practice will be shut down and its license revoked.

Dr. Abiola Idowu, HEFAMAA’s Permanent Secretary, made this disclosure on Thursday during a Sensitization Campaign cum Town Hall Meeting in Alimosho Local Government on the roles and responsibilities of HEFAMAA.

Idowu, who was unavoidably absent was represented by Director, Research and Statistics of HEFAMAA, Dr. Olorunfemi Olonire. He stated that the State Government banned the training and practice by Auxiliary Nurses because they do more harm than good to the State Health Sector.

She, however, implored residents to report any illegal and unapproved health facilities and quack medical practitioners to the agency for necessary action.

According to her, the State Government does not want the healthcare process of the citizens to be misdiagnosed or attended to unprofessionally, which is why the agency was set up.

Idowu revealed that 32 health facilities were shut between January and June for various infractions, stating that the agency is committed to ensuring that only approved health facilities operate in the State.

She said the agency has teams that monitor and inspect healthcare facilities spread across different local councils and local council development areas in the state.

Oba Babatunde Nasiru, the King of Shasha Kingdom implored HEFAMAA to work on the nonchalant attitude of the staff of public hospitals toward patients who visit their hospitals.

The Monarch underscored the importance of the agency stepping up its monitoring and oversight functions to ensure that quacks have no place in any facility, as the residents may not be able to easily identify a quack nurse, doctor, or medical personnel in an approved facility.

“If the government does not rein in the nonchalant attitude of staff of public hospitals, many residents will continue to attend hospitals managed by quacks.”

Air Peace Limited,  a Nigerian Carrier has dismissed reports on the indictment of its crew members for alleged alcohol and drug use.

A preliminary report by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, NSIB, indicated that both the Pilot and his Co-Pilot tested positive to the use of alcohol and another substance.

The Pilot and Co-Pilot were accused of taking the substance following preliminary report that was gathered and released by the Nigeria Safety Investigation  Bureau, NSIB, on the serious incident involving an Air Peace flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The report on the incident involving a Boeing 737-524 aircraft, with nationality and registration marks 5N-BQQ, operated by Air Peace Limited, occurred on 13 July 2025 at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

It stated that the aircraft, with about 103 persons on board, landed long on runway 21 after an unstabilised final approach and then touched down 2,264 metres from the runway threshold before coming to a final stop 209 metres into the clearway.

A statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs and Family Assistance, Bimbo Oladeji, stated that all passengers and crew disembarked safely, and no injuries were reported.

It, however, stated that the initial toxicological tests conducted on the flight crew revealed positive results for certain substances, including indicators of alcohol consumption, with a cabin crew member testing positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component in cannabis.

The results, according to the statement, are being reviewed under the human performance and safety management components of the investigation.

The NSIB said it has issued immediate safety recommendations for Air Peace Limited to strengthen crew resource management (CRM) training, particularly in handling unstabilised approaches and go-around decisions, and to reinforce internal procedures for crew fitness-for-duty monitoring before flight dispatch.

It added that the final report will present detailed conclusions and additional recommendations to enhance aviation safety in Nigeria.

But in a statement on Friday, posted on its X handle, the Airline said that the NSIB has not officially communicated its findings to it on the incident.

It said the reports were  misleading,  and that over one month after the incident, neither the Airline, nor  its crew has received any confirmation of the NSIB’s alleged preliminary report which indicated its crew members.

Said the Statement: “To date, we have never received any official communications from the NSIB on such findings over a month after the incident and after the testing of the crew for alcohol which took place in less than an hour of the incident.

“As a responsible airline, we place utmost priority on safety, transparency, and compliance, and it is important to set the record straight.”

According to the Airline, its immediate response to the Port Harcourt incident, was to  ground the Captain and  relieved him of his flying duties because he disregarded standard go-around procedures and failed to observe Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles.

But the statement, also, emphasised that its action against the Pilot was not related to alcohol or substance use since no such test results have been formally communicated to it by the NSIB.

The statement said: “Following the incident, we took immediate and decisive action: The captain of the affected flight was immediately grounded and relieved from further flight duties to date for failure to adhere to Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and for disregarding standard go-around procedures as advised by his co-pilot but not for testing positive to breathalyser test as the result was not communicated to us by NSIB to date.

“If he was involved in drug or alcohol use, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority would not have cleared him to resume flight duties.

The Airline assured that if the NSIB  report is confirmed, it  would increase the frequency of its crew testing and intensify its strict Fitness-for-Duty checks.

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Commissioner for Health, Yanusa Isma’il.

The decision follows the Governor’s directive for the Commissioner to provide satisfactory justification against allegations of negligence of duty and disregard for his official mandate.

This directive is coming days after a journalist in Kebbi State, Hassan Mai-Waya Kangiwa, was detained for releasing a video showing the poor conditions at Kangiwa General Hospital, Kebbi.

Peter Obi and Goodluck Jonathan

The National Coordinator of the Obidients Movement Dr Yunusa Tanko has appealed to Goodluck Jonathan, a former president to shelve his reported presidential ambition, and support Peter Obi for the 2027 presidency.

Dr Yunusa made the appeal on the heels of the closed door meeting between Jonathan and Obi in Abuja, the nation’s capital on Thursday.

According to him, Jonatha should remain as the statesman he’s and support Obi, because the two leaders have been ‘friends” for a long time.

Tanko: “They have been friends for a long time. The meeting was for them to fraternise and discuss how to rescue Nigeria. But for us in the Obidient Movement, it would be great if Jonathan remains the respected statesman he is known for. He has done his best as President, he is respected, and this is the time for him to support his brother,” Tanko said

Both leaders met amid suggestions about President Jonathan’s 2027 presidential ambition. The former leader has yet to speak on the issue, but his close associates said he’s still undecided on whether to throw his hat in the ring.

Ekiti Gov. Election: Three APC Aspirants Submit Nomination Forms

Three APC Aspirants Submit Nomination Forms in Ekiti

By Ayodele Oni

As the countdown to the Governorship Election Primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti approaches, three aspirants have submitted nomination forms to participate in the exercise.

They are incumbent Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, Chairman Governing Council of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Kayode Ojo and the only female,

Abimbola Olajumoke Olawumi.

The National Secretariat of the APC played host to the aspirants in the week during which they submitted their nomination forms to the leadership of the party.

Governor Oyebanji, accompanied by retinue of aides, leadership of unions and Traditional Rulers was first to submit his particulars during which he expressed confidence that with his performance in the state, he was confident of getting the party’s ticket for the second term.

Ojo in an address, accused the National Secretary of the APC of turning himself to a megaphone of one of the aspirants.

“It is, however, concerning that our National Secretary has become a megaphone for Governor Oyebanji. By taking sides with a candidate, he has compromised his neutrality and cannot be trusted to participate impartially in the Ekiti primary election process.

“Tactfulness is a key attribute of a National Secretary, which the current office holder clearly lacks.

“The people of Ekiti and APC members in the State desire meaningful change. In the past three years, they have received the short end of the stick.

“Governor Oyebanji is a pretender and has no major developmental projects to his name, only propaganda. Records show that between November 2022 and June 2025, N292.24 billion was received as federal allocation, with

Internally Generated Revenue at N89.6 billion.

“Federal allocations to local governments exceed N150 billion, not including various Federal Government interventions and loans. In the hands of a competent manager, these funds could have transformed the state.

“Instead, under the current administration, the results are absent. We must ask: how many landmark projects has he commissioned in three years?

“Why has he not invited national leaders for project inauguration, as other governors have done? Even his daughter’s wedding was held in Ibadan, rather than Ekiti, due to embarrassment over the state’s lack of achievements. Despite these substantial resources, there is nothing tangible to show.”
