“No Court Has Disqualified Me As Labour Party Gov. Candidate” – Moghalu

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The Labour Party, LP, candidate for the forthcoming  Anambra State Governorship election, Chief George Moghalu has dismissed claims that he has been restrained  from parading myself as the party’s flag bearer.

He has, therefore, advised opponents to meet him at the polls on Saturday November, 8, 2025, instead of dissipating their energies chasing shadows.

The Source reports that the social media was awash on Tuesday, August 26, with reports of a Federal High Court sitting in Enugu granting an order restraining Moghalu from further parading himself as the LP candidate for the  Anambra State Governorship election pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice filed by some aggrieved party members.

In the substantive suit, the aggrieved LP members are challenging the validity and legality of the April 5 ,2025 , Labour Party Primaries conducted by the Julius Abure-led National Executive Committee NEC, a day after being sacked by the Supreme court of Nigeria.

They are  demanding an order of the Court, declaring the primaries conducted by the Abure faction, which produced Moghalu as the party’s Governorship candidate, null and void.

The applicants are, also praying for an order of the court ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to only deal with the Senator Nenadi Esther Usman-led Interim National Working Committee, NWC, as the authentic leadership of the party in line with the April, 4, 2025 Supreme court ruling.

But in a statement issued late on Tuesday, Chief Moghalu dismissed the purported restraining order as a joke taken too far .

He accused detractors and opposition camps who are unsettled by his overwhelming acceptance by the people, of being behind the phantom order

He explained that his opponents completely misinterpreted the Court order to suit their predetermined purposes, noting that there was no where in the court ruling He was restrained as the LP Governorship candidate.

He called on  those behind the misinformation to leave him alone and meet him at the polls on the election day.

“Ordinarily,I wouldn’t have bothered myself talking about social media speculations as a matter of personal policy.

But because of the sensitivity of the matter, and the need to do certain level of classification, it became necessary I speak to douse tension.

“That report is a joke of the highest order. It is clear that some persons are feeling threatened by my popularity and acceptability of my programmes for the people of the state .

These people have been looking for ways to stop me. Actually, we are expecting this one. For me, it actually came a bit late. But we will still respond to it.

“For the purposes of putting things in proper perspective, I came in and saw an order posted on one of my properties in my town. As a law abiding citizen, I requested the order be brought so that I can look at it.

“The order has seven prayers. Some of the prayers include that I should be restrained from parading myself as the gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party in Anambra state.

“They also asked for a restraining order on INEC not to accept whatever has to do with my nomination as a gubernatorial candidate.

“They also asked for substituted service. It is important to state that the last paragraph of the court order states that all other prayers are hereby denied while applicants are directed to place all respondents on notice.

“However, all parties, including the applicants and respondents must maintain status quo, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

“Everything they asked for except substitute service were denied. And the status quo is that Moghalu won the primary and was declared by INEC as LP candidate.

“Like I said , we know the source of this and those who procured it. They are only justifying their pay. I wish them well because it is an exercise in futility.

” I repeat, let them leave me alone and wait for me on November 8 at the polls”, Moghalu concluded.

US Recommends Ondo To Its Citizens For Investment

US Recommends Ondo

By Ayodele Oni

United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, has disclosed that Ondo  has been listed as one of the states in Nigeria recommended to U.S. investors who may want to do business in Nigeria.

Mills stated this when Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa visited  the United States Embassy in Abuja, where he engaged officials on investment opportunities available in Ondo State.

He commended the steps so far taken by the Ondo State Government to make the state investor-friendly, especially in the areas of ease of doing business and improved security.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Wednesday, quoted the Governor as saying that his administration will continue to provide the enabling environment to attract foreign investments to boost the state’s economy.

He said the State will warmly welcome investors from the United States for the development of strategic economic projects in the state, including the proposed deep sea port, petrochemical hub, and refinery located within the state’s free trade zone, as well as agriculture and agribusiness.

Aiyedatiwa explained that the deep sea port project, when actualized, would ease the congestion at the Apapa and Tin Can ports in Lagos, noting that Ondo State’s location on the coastline makes it a viable alternative for international maritime trade.

The Governor, who presented to the U.S. officials the investment opportunities in the State, added that his administration has signed Memorandum of Understanding with more than five major local and foreign investors in the last six months.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Governor said: “Of interest to them is our deep sea port and the petrochemical and refinery plants coming up in the free trade zone area.

“They encouraged us strongly because it is something good not only for the state, but for the country. They also noted our long coastline, with proximity to Lagos through the coastal highway.

Given our location, Ondo State will host a worthy port.

“They assured us that Ondo State is now on the list of sub-nationals in Nigeria that can be recommended to potential investors.

“They were impressed with our mineral resources, business opportunities, and our status as the leading producer of cocoa in the country.”

Beyond economic discussions, the Governor said the talks also touched on security in the state, particularly the success of the Amotekun Corps in complementing conventional security agencies.

“The issue of security is key to them when mentioning destinations to their citizens and investors. They were pleased to learn that our efforts have yielded positive results.

“They also found it impressive that the United Nations has recognized Amotekun with a World Amotekun Day, to be celebrated every July 7.”

He described the engagement as timely and fruitful, stressing that the discussions laid a strong foundation for stronger U.S.–Ondo State relations in trade and investment.

Olympic Medalist, Udo Obong Lashes Taribo West, Says Nigeria Owes No Sportman Any Favour

Udo Obong and Taribo West

Enefiok Udo-Obong, an multiple Olympic Medalist, has lashed Taribo West, former Super Eagles Player over his lamentation and criticism of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Federal Government and Lagos State Government for not assisting the Family of late Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Peter Rufai financially during his burial ceremony.

Udo-Obong stated that  Nigerian athletes, past and present, are only entitled to respect and recognition for their achievements, not lifetime financial support from the Government.

The former Nigerian athlete made the remarks following criticisms by some former Super Eagles players, including West and Augustine Eguavoen, who accused the government and the NFF of neglecting retired footballers at the service of songs for late Rufai.

In a post shared via Facebook, Udo-Obong dismissed calls for special financial entitlements for athletes, arguing that sportsmen benefited from privileges during their careers.

“It is insulting for Austin Eguavoen to compare playing in the Super Eagles or any sportsman with a soldier. One lives a life of luxury and privilege, and the other lays down his life and privileges so that all can enjoy a life of privilege,” he wrote.

Speaking further, the Sydney 2000 Olympic  Medalist stated that the nation owes no sportsman any favour.

“On the contrary, we owe the country for the opportunity and platform they have given us to flourish our talents and to live a life envious to the majority.

“All we deserve from the country and its leaders is respect and recognition for our hard work,” Udo-Obong added.

It would be recalled that Udo-Obong anchored Nigeria’s Men’s 4x400m relay team to Gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and also won Bronze in Athens 2004.

In 2024, he was appointed Technical Director of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Athletics Development Programme, after beating competitors from the United States, Britain and Australia.

Before taking up the Saudi role, the 43-year-old served in various capacities in Nigerian athletics, including as Technical Director of the Lagos State Athletics Association.

The Sowore Matter: Six Banks Ordered By Court To Share His Bank Accounts With IGP

0
Omoyele Sowore and Kayode Egbetokun

By Adesina Soyooye

Human Rights Activist, Lawyer, Politician and Publisher of the popular Online SaharaReporters, Omoleye Sowore sensed it. He had an inkling of the new troubles ahead of him.

A couple of days ago, he had disclosed that the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, was on the verge of having details of his bank accounts   forwarded to him.

When he raised the alarm, quite a number of people dismissed it. They thought Sowore was just talking. Their reason was simple. Sowere has been having a running battle with IGP Egbetokun for months on end. He does not recognise  Egbetokun as the IGP. He addresses him as an “illegal IGP”. Egbetokun’s tenure as IGP had ordinarily expired. But President Bola Tinubu, acting on a sudden new recommendation of the National Assembly, extended Egbetokun’s tenure by four years, almost. And that irks Sowore.

Sowore has been in and out of Police detention for a number of times. He had also been arraigned in Court by the Police a couple of times  But that has not deterred him from his stand on the IGP.

Fresh from arrest and detention by the Police recently, Sowore and the IGP are again in a fresh battle.

The Nigerian Police which Egbetokun leads seems set to cripple Sowore financially, even if temporarily. Egbetokun has approached a Federal High Court, seeking to be furnished with six bank accounts which have links to Sowore. Why? The IGP is slamming Sowore with allegations of sponsorship of terrorism in the country, money laundering and more. Apparently, the IGP wants to know the source of Sowore’s funds with which he has continously bitten the Federal Government hike a very stubborn mosquitoe.

On Tuesday, 26th August, the Honourable Justice Emeka Nwite granted the IGP’s request. Nwite ordered six banks to go ahead with the IGP’s request. This would include all documents related to the accounts as well as all transactions – inflows and outflows – beginning from January 2024 to date.

Nwite granted the request and gave the order after

Wisdom Madaki, Counsel to the IGP,  moved an ex-parte motion to the effect.

In the motion,  the IGP, through Madaki, told the Court that Sowore, is under investigation on allegations which bordered on financing terrorism, money laundering and other fraudulent activities.

Justice Nwite found the motion meritorious and so, granted it. The Judge said:

“I have listened to the submission of the Counsel to the applicant and I have also gone through the affidavit evidence. I am of the view, and so hold that the application is meritorious. The prayer is hereby granted as prayed.”

In the ex-parte motion marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1757/2025, the IGP had sued Sowore and Sahara Reporters Media Foundation as 1st and 2nd defendants, and joined

the following Banks as defendants : United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, Opay Digital Services Ltd, Moniepoint and Kuda Microfinance Bank Ltd as 3rd to 8th defendants respectively.

Egbetokun, also, sought “an order directing the following banks; UBA Plc, GTB plc, ZENITH Bank Plc, Opay Digital Services Limited, Moniepoint and Kuda Microfinance Bank Limited to furnish him, through the office of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit account opening package/mandate card, certified true copy of the statement of account reflecting transfers with account numbers of both inflows and outflows from January, 2024 till date.”

In the five-ground argument, the IGP said Sowore “is being investigated for terrorism financing, money laundering and fraudulent activities.

“That the complainant had commenced investigation in the activities of the 1st respondent.

“That the accounts seeking to obtain the statement of accounts are the accounts which the 1st respondent is using for terrorism financing and money laundering.

The applicant convinced  the Judge of the need need  to grant the relief sought for the purpose of investigation and emphasisedvthat if the order was not granted, it would jeopardise the police investigation.

Bassey Ibrahim, a police officer in the Legal Section, Force CID, in the affidavit attached to the motion,  alleged that his office received intelligent report that Sowore “is using the accounts for terrorism financing, money laundering and receives financial support from foreign partner for terrorism.”

He posited the need for the police to secure the order of the court to obtain the statements of the accounts to enable the office carry out investigation into the alleged fraudulent activities of the suspects.

“That the respondents will not be prejudiced or indemnified by the grant of this application.

“That I swear to this affidavit in good faith believing the content to be true and correct in accordance with the provision of the Oath Act, 2024.”

About 26 bank accounts linked to Sowore, Sahara Reporters Media Foundation and African Action Congress, which Presidential Candidate Sowore  was in the 2023 General Elections are under investigation.

Uzodimma Partners Globacom To Enhance Digital Economy, Fibre Connectivity In Imo

Globacom Partnership with Imo State
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State with Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi who led the management team of Globalcom Limited to a partnership meeting with the Governor at Government House Owerri.

The Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma has expressed his willingness to partner Globacom Limited to enhance digital economy in Imo State as well as fibre connectivity services for the State’s Digital City.

Governor Uzodinma made the remarks Tuesday when he received Globacom’s Enterprise Business Group at a closed door meeting in Owerri, where he described the telecom giant as a “market leader” in the sector in the country.

The Governor told the team: “Globacom is our own and a good ambassador of this country as far as telecommunications services are concerned. We will be delighted to do business with Globacom.”

Governor Uzodimma used the opportunity to laud Globacom Limited Chairman, Dr Mike Adenuga Jnr for his “contributions to Nigeria and the economy in general.”

In his response, the leader of the team,

Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi described Globacom Limited as not only a Telecommunications Company but a Digital Solutions Company and the largest integrated telecommunications service provider in Nigeria.

Odejobi stated that Glo as the Company is variously referred to had for over two decades pioneered revolutionary changes in the telecommunications industry in Nigeria.

His words: “Your Excellency,  when Globacom started, we positively disrupted the market when we introduced the per second billing system when other operators said it was impossible and continued to charge Nigerians N50 per minute even if the call lasted for a second.

“Globacom also made it possible for millions of Nigerians to afford a telephone line by crashing the cost of its SIM Card from 25 kobo to 6 kobo and later N100 when other networks were charging N60,000 per SIM Card.”

Odejobi stated that “this is primarily responsible for the massive telephone penetration we have seen in the country today,” adding, “because of Globacom, every Nigerian today can afford a telephone line.”

Odejobi also noted that the company has since then gone on to pioneer numerous innovations which have helped propel the rapid growth and revolutionary changes witnessed in the Nigerian telecommunications industry, including the construction of the wholly owned international submarine cable known as Glo 1.

“Your Excellency,  we have been described as the Grand Masters of Data. Perhaps we should be described as the Grand Inventors of Data in Nigeria.”

The Company therefore expressed readiness to collaborate with Imo State on her digital economic agenda and assured  Governor Uzodimma of Globacom’s commitment to continue to provide investment on infrastructure across the state.

Ahead of the forthcoming Local Council Polls, the Rivers State Police Command, on Tuesday August 26 , 2025, cautioned against any attempts to foment troubles, or disruption of the exercise.

The Police Command has, also, imposed restriction of movement in all parts of the State during the exercise.

The Source reports that the Rivers state Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC is billed to conduct elections in all the 23 Local Government Areas of the State on Saturday August 30, to select chairmen and Councilors after the Supreme Court’s nullification of earlier exercise on October 5, 2024,

Addressing the media on its preparedness for  the exercise, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju,  informed that the Service is ready to play its role of escorting and securing  all election materials round the State.

He expressed the readiness of the Police to deal decisively with would-be trouble makers including cultists who may be planning to disrupt the polls.

According to Adepoju, there will be restriction on vehicular and human movements from midnight of Friday August 29 to 6.00 pm on the election day, August 30, 2025.

However, those on essential services have been exempted from the movement restrictions.

“You are all aware that on the 30th of this month (August), we are going to have the Local Government election.

“We have done all due diligence to ensure that it is going to be peaceful.

“We have been holding meetings with stakeholders and we have equally gone to local Governments and every other place to sensitize our people.

“We have, also, directed the Local Government Sole Administrators to equally talk to people and hold stakeholders meetings which have been done with positive responses.

“All arrangements have been made to ensure a free, fair and peaceful election. All the Security Agencies will be involved in the exercise with the Police as the lead agency”, the CP noted

Adepoju warned that much as efforts have been made to check the activities of cultists, thugs,

and other criminal elements, security personnel will not hesitate to wield the big stick against those who may want to create chaos and disrupt the exercise.

He, therefore, called on parents , guardians and other stakeholders to advise their wards against involvement in  any acts capable of breaching the peace of the state before, during and after the election.

“We have, also, done the needful to ensure that all cult activities and those that may want to disrupt the peace during the election have been checked.

“Every security agency will take part in this election because it is a state of emergency. Definitely, we are going to have Police Mobile Force Operatives from Abuja to come and complement our efforts of our men here.

“We have enough manpower on the ground for this election. I assure you there won’t be problems. If there are people trying to foment trouble, we have all it takes to keep them in check” Adepoju assured.

ASUU Insists On Immediate Implementation Of Outstanding Issues

ASUU FUTA

By Ayodele Oni

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA) and University of Calabar (UNICAL) obeyed order from parent body to embark on protest on Tuesday over alleged government’s inaction on long-standing issues affecting the sector, describing it as ‘wicked and heartless’.

FUTA lecturers, during a protest at the institution, carried placards with various inscriptions chanting solidarity songs matched through the campus to express their grievances.

Addressing Journalists, the Chairman of ASUU, FUTA, Prof Pius Mogaji said, government’s alleged failure to address issues such as the re-negotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement, sustainable funding of universities, and the plight of retired academic staff, threatens the very foundation of higher education in Nigeria.

Prof Mogaji said: “The Union has consistently clung to the assurance of the Federal Government, holding on-against all odds with the believe that its officials possess integrity that can stand the test of Public Scrutiny.

“Regrettably, months later, we are compelled to inform the Nigerian Public that these legitimate and long-standing issues remain unaddressed, a trend that threatens our already fragile educational sector and faces the imminent risk of yet another crisis.

“The report of the Alhaji Yayale Ahmed-led re-negotiation, painstakingly concluded and submitted since February 2025, has been left to gather dust in the corridors of power For more than five (5) long months.

“Government has treated the document with reckless indifference, a clear betrayal of trust and an insult to the principle of collective bargaining.

“To ignore it is to undermine the very foundation of higher education in this country. While we take note of the Government’s planned meeting of August 28, 2025, let it be clear: the clock is ticking and time is no longer on Governments side.

“Our patience has been stretched to its breaking point, trust has been shattered and only decisive Government action can mend it. The NEC has resolved that all options remain on the table.

“If Government chooses provocation over responsibility, if it continues to play games with the future of our Universities, then it alone must bear the consequences of the storm that will follow.

“The ball is squarely in the Government’s Court. Restore trust now – or brace for the inevitable.”

At the UNICAL,ASUU stated that the Union is set for what it described as “mother of all strikes” if the federal government fails to implement the 1992 agreement.

Speaking at a press briefing at its Secretariat on Tuesday, the chairperson of ASUU-UCB, Dr. Peter Ubi, said since the federal government has been dilly-dallying and playing with time over ASUU demands, it has, therefore, becomes imperative to shut down the universities everybody to go home.

The union expressed concerns over the victimisation of some of its members and the non-remittance of third-party deductions.

It however accused the government of using delay tactics to avoid addressing the issues noting that despite submitting the Alhaji Yayale Ahmed Report in February 2025, nothing has been done to resolve the matters.

“Time is running out, we urge the government to return to the Collective Bargain Principle in addressing the issues in our draft agreement” ASUU warned.

The union rejected the government’s proposal to offer loans to staff, describing it as a ploy to further burden members with debt.

ASUU explained that trust has already been destroyed by the federal government citing the loan scheme as an attack on their salaries.

“Trust has been destroyed by the government, it is, therefore up to them to regain it to avert any strike.

“Our members are already neck-deep in loans. All we need is for the government to sign our renegotiated agreement, which will improve our purchasing power and decrease our reliance on loans from cooperative societies.

“This government still owes our members 3% months of salaries for work done. The government should use the money set aside for the loans to defray our withheld salaries. Members are advised to stay away from the loan and focus on our legitimate entitlements because it is a bait, and will incapacitate university- based cooperative societies.”

Benue Assembly Suspends Fmr Speaker, Reverses Earlier Decisions

Hyacinth Dajoh - Benue State Speaker

By Ayodele Oni

Benue State House of Assembly has reversed some of the actions taken during the tenure of the former Speaker, Aondona Dajoh. The Assembly equally approved his suspension for three months two days.

These are coming three days after he resigned voluntarily from his former position.

Dajoh was suspended for allegedly initiating plots to impeach Governor Hyacinth Alia, an action majority of the members described as totally unwarranted and unaccepted.

The motion for the suspension of Dajoh was moved by Terna Shimawua, one of the lawmakers the former Speaker suspended last week for plotting his impeachment.

The motion was, accordingly, seconded by James Umoru with no dissenting vote.

The Assembly, which under the Speakership of  Dajoh rejected the nomination of a Law lecturer, Timothy Yangien Ornguga as a Commissioner last week, reversed its decision and approved Ornguga as a Commissioner.

Following the decision of the members of the House, the new Speaker, Alfred Berger, announced the confirmation of Ornguga and James Dwem.

The confirmation of the two nominees as Commissioners- designate followed a letter from Governor Alia which stated that none of the two was ever convicted of any crime.

All the lawmakers including those that had during the Speakership of Dajoh, opposed their confirmation made a U-turn and conceded to their unanimous confirmation.

Accordingly, Speaker Berger hit the gavel to confirmed the two nominees without any dissenting voice votes.

Similarly, the House announced the lifting of the suspension of three political appointees of Governor Alia, who were recommended for suspension by the Assembly under the supervision of Dajoh.

The affected appointees included; Grace Adagba, Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board; Michael Uper, Secretary of the State Lottery Board, and Maxwell Ogiri, Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council.

ADC Not Interested In Early Zoning Arrangement – Spokesman

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has maintained that it will not be distracted by premature zoning arrangement of other political party.

It criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for moving ahead with zoning arrangements for the 2027 Presidential election, describing the move as insensitive to the plight of Nigerians.

Appearing on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, ADC spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, said both major parties were more focused on political calculations than addressing the country’s urgent challenges.

“We are not bothered with what the PDP has done. Nigerians can see right into it. PDP people are not naïve people; they are very experienced politicians.

“For them to take that decision two years ahead of the presidential election, there must be a game on, and we can see right through it. We are not pressured; we are focused on our party.

“The general election is still in 2027; it’s still two years away. Why are we so preoccupied and behaving in such a way that Nigerians begin to look at the political elite across the divides as if we don’t care about them?”

On Monday, the PDP announced that its presidential ticket for 2027 would be zoned to the South while the party’s national chairmanship would remain in the North.

In parallel, APC governors and other party leaders endorsed President Bola Tinubu as their sole candidate for the next election. Both parties defended their positions by citing Nigeria’s long-standing, though informal, practice of rotating power between the North and South.

Abdullahi, however, dismissed the moves as little more than political manoeuvring. “They are very experienced people, and they know the implications of showing their way too early.

“So, it’s either they are playing a predetermined game or baiting some people to come around,” he said.

He further emphasised that the ADC was not built around a single aspirant, contrary to some perceptions.

“In the papers yesterday, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar came out to say he is going to run for president. Don’t forget we still have the likes of Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi and others who are interested in running, and we have reiterated that they have an equal chance.”

The ADC, he explained, is concentrating on building grassroots structures, rather than being distracted by premature zoning debates.

According to Abdullahi, the party has not yet decided on zoning its presidential ticket. “What is most important to us is to convince Nigerians that we represent that alternative that can bring respite to their current sufferings.

“As far as the ADC is concerned, we are not having that kind of conversation now. We are focused on mobilising at the grassroots and putting up structures,” he added.

Northern Youths Coalition Rejects PDP Zoning Arrangement

Peoples Democratic Party - PDP

By Ayodele Oni

A coalition of Northern Youth Groups, under the Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations (JACON), has accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of betraying the course of the North with the zoning of its Presidential Candidate to the South.

The coalition  rejected the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its 2027 Presidential ticket to the South.

Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna on Tuesday, JACON’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ambassador Sanin Yaya, described the move as unjust and a betrayal of the North.

Yaya warned that the Party would face political consequences if it failed to reverse the decision.

He argued that the PDP’s zoning arrangement sidelined qualified northerners.

According to him, the region produced a president for only two and a half years under the late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua during the party’s 16 years in power.

Yaya noted that the South held the office for more than 13 years.

He warned that the North would no longer serve as a political beast of burden for a party that only seeks its votes without offering leadership opportunities.

The coalition urged the PDP to zone the ticket to the North in 2027 and warned that northern voters would be mobilised against the party if the decision stood.

“The PDP has a long tradition of rotating its presidential ticket between the North and South in a power-sharing arrangement aimed at promoting balance and unity.”

The latest decision to shift the ticket to the South follows internal consultations by governors and party leaders.
