Anambra: No Competition As Soludo Knocks Out All

Charles Soludo

By Ayodele Oni  & Akinwale Kasali

From the onset, most people knew that Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo had no competitor in the November 8 Governorship Election. They knew the race was going to be easy and swift. They knew it was going to be a walk-over. He even foresaw it. He had said, during one of his campaigns that the contest was going to be between Chukwuma Soludo vs Chukwuma Soludo.

Indeed it was.

The defeat was effortless. He spared none. It was merciless. Within about 10 hours after the election, the result was obvious.

Governor Soludo, to get his second term gave other “participants” a knock out”. They scored zero. It was a no contest.  Some big guns lost not only in their Local Government Areas, but in their polling units.

No wonder he said he regarded the day as just another day. While the “participants” were screaming “vote-buying”, he said he was busy discussing  his 2026 budget.

As the result was finally announced celebrations broke  out  among the Governor’s Political Parties, All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and his friends and loyalists.

Prof. Edoba Omoregie, Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, announced the results early Sunday at INEC’s state collation center in Awka.

Soludo polled 422,664 votes, dominating all 21 Local Government Areas, a rare feat matched only once before in Anambra’s history.

His closest rival, APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu, garnered 101,089 votes, followed by Labour Party’s George Moghalu with 10,576 and PDP’s Jude Ezenwafor with 9,281.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, Soludo Charles Chukwuma is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” Omoregie stated, certifying total valid votes at 584,054 from 5,720 polling units, with 98% uploaded to INEC’s IReV portal for real-time verification.

The incumbent governor, who voted at PU 002 in Isuofia Ward, Aguata LGA, hailed the outcome as a “mandate for continuity and progress.

“This is Anambra’s victory peaceful, credible, and reflective of our people’s aspirations,” Soludo said in his acceptance speech, pledging deeper investments in security, education, and infrastructure.

Observers from Yiaga Africa and civil society groups praised INEC’s efficiency, noting minimal disruptions despite isolated reports of vote-buying.

APGA’s triumph extends its grip on Anambra, following predecessors Peter Obi and Willie Obiano.

Ukachukwu congratulated Soludo but urged probes into alleged irregularities, while opposition parties vowed judicial reviews.

Voter turnout hovered at 65%, buoyed by BVAS technology and early result transmissions.

Fifteen Girls On Se$x Row Rescued As Ondo Police Command Dismantles Syndicate

Sex Workers in Ondo State

The Ondo State Police Command has dismantled a notorious se*x trafficking syndicate exploiting young women under the guise of job recruitment and social media content creation.

During the operation, which took place at Alabama, Akure, 15 young girls were rescued.

State command spokesman, Olusola Ayanlade, in a statement on Sunday, explained that “Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit arrested Jayeola Joshua, male, of Alagbaka, Akure, along with two others, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining accomplices.

“Investigations revealed that the syndicate lured victims from across the country with false promises of lucrative employment, including domestic work, ushering services, and overseas placements.

“Upon arrival in Akure, 15 victims, aged 20 to 26, were accommodated in an apartment in Alagbaka, which became the operational base for the illicit activities.

“The arrangement not only facilitated exploitation, but also highlighted how organized criminal elements prey on the vulnerability of unsuspecting young women seeking legitimate opportunities.

“Further inquiry uncovered that the victims were manipulated into sending nude images and videos, which were subsequently transmitted to clients procuring sexual services.

“The principal suspect reportedly received the largest share of the proceeds, while the operation was disguised as producing “relationship content” on social media, misleading the public and masking criminal intent.

“Evidence indicates that the apartment was specifically rented to facilitate these activities, prompting the Commissioner of Police to direct that the landlords be invited for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

“Following the rescue, the 15 victims were taken to the Police Hospital, Akure, for medical care, psychological evaluation, and counseling.

“In line with a victim-centered approach, the Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the Command’s Gender Desk for further investigation, counseling, and reintegration of the victims into society.

“He also issued a marching order that all arrested suspects must be prosecuted and intensified efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices, demonstrating the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on human trafficking and sexual exploitation.”

Ekiti Gov. Election: Parties Pick Candidates

Independent National Electoral Commission - INEC

By Ayodele Oni

The coast is getting clearer for the next year’s governorship election in Ekiti state as candidates that will fly the flags of political parties are emerging.

As at the last count, six political parties have picked candidates for the election to beat the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deadline.

According to the timetable and guidelines released by INEC, political parties have the window between October 20 and November 10, 2025 to conduct their governorship primaries ahead of the June 20, 2026 election.

Less than 24 hours to the expiration of the deadline, only six political parties have unveiled their candidates for the election.

They are the All Progressives Congress (APC) which picked the incumbent Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) which elected Dare Bejide.

Others are the Accord Party, (AP),Opeyemi David Falegan, the New Nigeria Democratic, (NNDP), Blessing Abegunde; People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), Oluwole Oluyede and the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), Adedayo Alade.

Following the lingering crisis within the PDP, a faction loyal t minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike, headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed, as acting chairman, had earlier announced the postponement of the primary election from last Saturday.

In a counter move, the state chairman of PDP, Tunji Odeyeni insisted that the primary election would hold as earlier scheduled.

Odeyeni in a statement, few hours to the exercise maintained that PDP in Ekiti State was fully prepared to hold its State Congress this Saturday, November 8, to elect the party’s flag bearer for the June 20, 2026 Governorship Election.

According to Odeyemi, all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure that the exercise is transparent, peaceful, and credible.

Anambra: Ogene Wins Community, Despite LP Candidate’s Poor Outing

…beat APGA in the two polling units

House of Representatives member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, yesterday delivered the two polling units in his community, despite an overall woeful performance by the Labour Party.

In his PU 007, Ihuani, Obeagwe where Hon. Ogene voted, Labour Party earned 47 votes, followed by the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA with 25 votes, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, 14.

In the other polling unit located at the community’s primary school, Hon. Ogene’s Labour Party also won, securing 41 votes, trailed by APGA with 28 votes and APC with nine votes.

The Young Progressives Party, YPP made an impressive showing at the polls, securing a total of 25 votes in the sleepy community.

Speaking after casting his vote, Hon. Ogene commended the general peaceful atmosphere that attended the election and expressed the hope that the final outcome will reflect the wishes of the people.

“Equity does not favour the indolent. In the run-up to November 8, the people of Anambra State saw the robust campaign mounted by the Governor Charles Soludo-led All Progressives Grand Alliance, as against the sloppy challenge offered by opposing candidates.

“Fact is, though Governor Soludo may not be liked on the streets of Anambra State, owing to his hard mien and some unpopular decisions, the truth remains that he was the most prepared for last Saturday’s gubernatorial election.”

Drama At Anambra Decides: “Stop, Where Are  Result Sheets?

0
Anambra Governorship Election

By Charles Igbo

A drama ensued at a Polling Station in Ihiala, Anambra State, in the heat of the Governorship Election, when a concerned citizen stormed the venue and took officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission to ask.

The yet to be identified citizen, obviously, on a tip off, stormed Polling Unit 013, Amamu, Ward A, Ihiala, and asked the INEC officials to “stop”.

Everybody looked on, including the Voters who were on queue under the sun.

Then, he asked the official in charge of the Polling Unit: “Where are the result sheets?” The Lady who identified herself as the AGO said there were no result sheets. And he asked where the sheets were? She said she was given none. And the man hit the roof and confronted her: So, you are here and people are voting while tye results are being written somewhere else.

The helpless lady said that she asked for the result sheets when she noticed she was given none, and was told by the SPO that he would bring them but had not.

The man then turned to the voters who who had become restless and addressed them. “You are wasting time here. You are standing under the sun, voting, while they are in somebody’s house writing the results.” He also disclosed that the same thing – no result sheets – played out the Juniorate Ihiala Polling Station.

Hereunder is what transpired at the Polling Station.

Man on arrival: “Who is in charge here? Wait, I want to climb up.” HE climbed up.

Man: “Stop everything here now. Stop! Stop!!

Do you have your result?

INEC Official (a lady): No.

Man: Why? So, they are writing the results somewhere, and you are here voting? That is not proper. Why are the result sheets not here? What is the polling unit here?

INEC Official: “013”

Man:  “People are voting and the result sheets are somewhere else and they are computing the result sheets.

“This is Ihiala, Amamu, Ward A. In Juniorate, the same thing is happening.”

Pointing at the Lady, he said: “She is in charge.  She is the AGO. This criminality must stop. Yes, No result sheets and people are voting. The result sheets are somewhere and people are standing here under the sun, voting.”

Addressing the Voters, he said:

“This exercise now is nonsense. They are in somebody’s house writing result.”

INEC Official “This is not my first time of doing this job. Usually everything is packed for us in the bag. When I didn’t see the result sheets, I asked the SPO, he said that we should go, that  he will bring it. He has not brought it till now.”

When she was asked the name of the SPO, she said she didn’t know.

There were also allegations of vote buying. There are 16 candidates, including the incumbent, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, vying for votes from 2.8 million voters.

The Trump Mandate: 10 Things President Tinubu Must Do Quickly

0
Steve Osuji
Author: Steve Osuji

By Steve Osuji

Point Of No Return? Fire on the mountain! Nigeria totters at the precipice right now. That’s where the ruling party, APC and its successive inept presidents, Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu have led Nigeria to. Remarkably, they represent the worst presidents and the puniest presidencies in Nigeria, ever.

This explains why today, Nigeria is on the verge of getting disembodied if drastic actions are not taken quickly.

Russia is acting up from the sahel and could jolly well breach the northwest of Nigeria by stealth (Katsina State is being surrendered to bandits).

China is deep in the northeast, surreptitiously carting away precious minerals and with a game plan to hold down her portion of the booty if push comes to shove.

WHERE’S THE PRESIDENT AND SOVEREIGN: Well, our man in Aso Rock wanted to be president by hook or crook (you all know the story!).

But to grab a leadership position is one, to lead is another. Tinubu, like his predecessor Buhari, have introduced a new form of leadership which EXPRESSO would like to describe as DO-NOTHINGNESS: it’s like a man who gets on top of a woman and immediately begins to snore as if he’s on  an orthopedic mattress.

Simply put, Tinubu, like Buhari before him, lacks the capacity to preside over a country. That’s the long and short of the story.

For instance, EXPRESSO avers that Tinubu has done only two major things in two and half years in office:  One, he has massively fortified his private estate and two, he is plotting for re-election.

That is why he doesn’t know that many states in the north have fallen to bandits who are probably enabled by Bukina Faso which is in turn enabled by Russia.

It explains why many public officials are sharing with China, the spoils of rogue mining operations going on across the north. And he pretends not to be aware!

IF NIGERIA IMPLODES: Could it be that our president and his government aren’t seeing the big picture? Or, since they are benefitting immensely from the chaos, they don’t care about the imminent consequences? Perhaps, they can’t help the situation?

But brash and swashbuckling President of the United States of America (POTUS), Donald Trump, somehow, sees all the shenanigans going on in Nigeria.

He knows that a few more years of Tinubu may damage Nigeria irretrievably.

He sees China and Russia turning Nigeria, the jewel of Africa into their playground.

Recall that Nigeria is within the sphere of influence of NATO.

Recall that Nigeria is a ‘democracy’ of the Presidential kind for that matter.

Recall again, that both China and Russia are already branded CPCs (Countries of Particular Concern) by America.

A CPC by America’s standard, means a country where violation of human rights is systemic and severe. It’s such a country where torture, prolonged detention without charges, forced disappearances, denial of life and security of citizens, among other vices, are rife.

China and Russia fit squarely into these descriptions of a typical CPC.

Some have queried why Trump is acting post haste in the Nigerian situation if over 20 countries are on the CPC list? The answer is that Nigeria’s situation is immediate and urgent.

There’s indeed a clear and present danger!  What looks like a precipitous human tragedy that needs to be averted.

Implosion of a country of over 200 million people would surely create a crisis the size of Armageddon.

The human tragedy may be such that history has never witnessed.

This is why the majority of Nigerians support Trump’s action and the designation of Nigeria as a CPC state.

Consider that more than 50 Nigerians have been slaughtered in less than one week even after the CPC designation was announced.

WHAT DOES TRUMP WANT: Yes, let no one be fooled that President Trump or America loves Nigeria and her hapless Christians so much they would throw their dollars and men after their survival. Never. No free lunch anywhere. Not the least, American.

So let’s conjecture that the US seeks to ward off Russia and China from what’s supposedly her turf, why not. If that would help rid Nigeria of the scourge of terror which has plagued her for nigh two decades; and which she might succumb to if she doesn’t get help.

TEN THINGS TINUBU MUST DO: Trump is no doubt the best of all options available to President Tinubu right now. Better to deal with Trump than Xi or Putin. He must reach out, consult, find lobbyists and indeed, do whatever is necessary to get Nigeria back on track.

And above all,  he must have a blueprint of his own.

Below are suggestions from EXPRESSO:

ONE: Sharia must be outlawed immediately. Nigeria is one country and must be under one constitution. To create separate bodies of laws is aberrant and dangerous.

TWO: Make laws to ban the almajiri system. Where else in the world do we have a system that only damages children and breeds the youth for terrorism?

THREE: Make a clear proclamation outlawing extra-judicial killings, especially trial by mob, arising from so-called ‘blasphemy.’

FOUR: Draw a one-year plan to close all IDPs and ensure that inmates are returned to their ancestral homestead.

FIVE: Restore all lands seized from non-indigenes in the last decade.

SIX: Outlaw cattle grazing in Nigeria giving a one-year moratorium.

SEVEN: Established model cattle ranches in the 36 States of Nigeria and Abuja and get the Livestock Ministry to work.

NINE: Open a six-month window for all terrorists, etc, to seek amnesty or be crushed.

TEN: Convoke a National Restoration Conference.

And also important is the need to  sanitise the military, security and intelligence community and eliminate rogue officers.

These are some of the broad- based and holistic actions President Tinubu must consider quickly if he must get Nigeria back on track again.
