OPINION: A Cabal in Plain Sight Wants More

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, Nigeria’s lifeline from decades of rot in the petroleum downstream, has to fight every inch for its turf. The fight started 18 years ago, when the refinery was only an idea.

In 2007, those who swore that a refinery – any refinery, public or private – would only work over their dead bodies forced President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to reverse the sale of the Port Harcourt and Kaduna Refineries with a gun over his head. Among the vested interests, the unions pulled the trigger on the $670 million sale to Blue Star, the Dangote-led consortium.

Since then, Nigeria has spent an estimated $20 billion trying to fix four state refineries with a combined capacity of 450,000 bpd, roughly the amount it cost Dangote to build a brand new one with a capacity of 650,000 bpd. Still, the cabal wants more for its whited sepulchre that can barely convert steam to water.

Dangote fights back

After commissioning and commencement of production, and despite an understanding that the Dangote Refinery would buy crude oil locally, it is still forced to import 60 percent of its crude oil from the US. Yet, the cartel is not done inflicting misery on the country. It is lining up behind those who import petrol from abroad and stirring up allegations that Dangote products have high sulphur content – an accusation made shamelessly by a regulatory body without a testing laboratory.

It was very encouraging that Aliko, not known for public brawls, laid in on the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NMDPRA) in response to the last challenge.

When we thought the Dangote ship was out of troubled waters, the cabal showed up with another nasty and clumsy tackle. They can’t believe that the lucrative “subsidised” petrol fraud, from which they cornered about N2 trillion in questionable claims or N50,000 per petrol truck, is ending.

Unions are for unions…

Under the auspices of the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), they want the Dangote Refinery to continue to pass on the windfall costs that the previous nebulous import regimes granted them to consumers. They didn’t just stop there; they brandished a seven-day ultimatum after which they would inflict an orchestrated and premeditated chaos on the market.

They thrive very well and ride the clouds when there are long queues and petrol is scarce. That is when their golden calf receives all the sacrificial totems they demand, including the blood of Nigerians they claim to be fighting for.

Oil unions and the depot association are doing for Shakespeare what he couldn’t achieve in his innocent depiction of some of the most horrendous middlemen from The Merchant of Venice to The Taming of the Shrew.

The folks in these associations who live large off our collective misery insist on reaping where they have not sown. They are taking the fight to Dangote’s turf, insisting that the company pays N1.5 trillion as a hostage fee for the obsolete depot model or nothing. That model, now discarded, ensured that unions got a cut of every litre that came through. As Thomas Sowell rightly said in his article, “Union Myths,” “The biggest myth about unions is that unions are for the workers. Unions are for the unions.”

Whose dog is in the fight?

But this is not all about Dangote. It’s more about free-loading agents who have become entitled to living beyond their means and passing the extra cost to ordinary Nigerians.

But how and why do they even dare? Because this is Nigeria, where unions could shut down the national grid, and the heavens won’t come crashing on their heads. This is just a little bit of how unions have become emboldened over the years – to grab the nation by its balls and even give a nasty pinch, then walk away with victory songs.

Pound for pound, Dangote Refinery is putting up a bold resistance, unlike what the unions and vested interests behind it have been accustomed to over the years.

For decades, these unions have never protested against publicly owned refineries where their members work and earn salaries for doing nothing. But they are suddenly against Dangote delivering products to retail outlets for free. They don’t even want him to modernise the product distribution channels. They have monopolised inefficiency but want to blackmail Dangote into setting up a monopoly.

Obstruction after obstruction

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the National Industrial Court in Abuja granted an ex parte order in favour of Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Justice Emmanuel Danjuma Subilim granted the relief based on a motion and originating processes filed by Dangote on September 15, 2025.

The ruling barred the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Direct Trucking Company Drivers Association from embarking on any industrial action or striking against Dangote Refinery. The court also restrained these unions from blocking roads or disrupting operations at Dangote Refinery and its affiliate companies.

The injunction is interim and was initially ordered to last seven days, pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice. The ruling also directed that the unions continue petroleum trucking services to the refinery and the Nigerian public until the substantive matter is resolved.

The implications of the ruling in Dangote Refinery’s favour are preventing union-led industrial actions that could disrupt the refinery’s operations. Thus, the National Industrial Court stepped in to stop the unions from compelling drivers to strike, or obstructing routes critical to Dangote’s fuel distribution, and causing unnecessary hardship to Nigerians already pushed against the wall with high commodity prices, which would further escalate by any oil-related strife.

The same old trope

The trope of retaining “our national patrimony” has always been in play for the unions and vested interests. They keep their jobs and enjoy the comfortable position of watching the government spend billions of dollars on refining complexes they knew would never work.

They’ve been subtly trying to truncate the Tinubu administration’s effort to dispose of these redundant refineries through drastic reforms. Now they have a formidable adversary in a refiner who’s pulling the rug from under their feet and even exporting refined products from Nigeria in their lifetime – something they must consider quite unthinkable.

Worm in the plant

Like we say in Africa, the worm eating the plant lives in the plant. Despite the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) – a bold attempt to make Nigeria’s oil and gas sector work for investors, the country and its people, the enemies within won’t allow corpses to be buried.

For the NNPCL and the several unions and affiliates deriving from the economy’s petroleum and natural gas sector, the changes Nigeria has yearned for in the industry are creeping in, willy-nilly.

They have had their day for years and monopolised the retail and sale of products from this lucrative and oily sector. They’ve overseen its collapse, while at the same time becoming wealthy merchants and agents.

 But this era must end.

We need more risk takers like Dangote, not self-serving unions and unionists feeding off our misery.

Ondo Police Command Arrests Trans Border Gunrunner, Robbery Suspects

In what is seen as a major breakthrough, the Ondo State Police Command, has arrested a suspected gunrunner who supplies arms and ammunition to criminals across states.

The breakthrough stems from a case of armed robbery reported at Irele, where a female victim was dispossessed of her unregistered TVS motorcycle, the sum of N250,000 and other valuables, and was also shot in her right leg.

Acting swiftly, operatives of the Command arrested one of the suspects at Irele, before tracking and apprehending two others at a hotel in Ore, thereby setting the stage for a wider investigation.

The command’s spokesman Olusola Ayanlade in a statement, explained that “Building on these initial arrests, the Command intensified its efforts and, in the course of investigation, recorded a landmark success with the arrest of a notorious gunrunner and local arms fabricator who had long been on the Command’s watchlist.

“This individual, responsible for manufacturing and supplying firearms to criminal networks, has been confirmed to operate not only within Ondo State, but also across state lines, extending his illegal dealings to Osun, Kogi, Edo, and Kwara States.

“The arrest of this key figure marks a major step forward in dismantling the chain of supply that has fueled violent crimes such as armed robbery and other unlawful activities across the region.

“Already, four suspects linked to the case have been arraigned in court on charges bordering on armed robbery and attempted murder, while further efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate and ensure that all collaborators are brought to justice.

Also in Police net is another suspect that stole a tricycle in Oyo state and brought it to Ondo for usage.

According to report, one Michael Kehinde, male, aged 28 years, was arrested in connection with a stolen tricycle.

“The arrest followed the swift intervention of operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol of the Ondo State Police Command on 21st September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, when the suspect was intercepted, while riding an unregistered tricycle without valid documents.

“Upon questioning, he could not provide a satisfactory account of how and when he acquired the vehicle. Further interrogation revealed his confession to having stolen the tricycle earlier this year at Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State.

“Having realized that his scheme had been uncovered and appreciating the gravity of his offence, the suspect later made an unsuccessful attempt to evade custody.

“However, the professionalism and alertness of the officers on duty ensured he was immediately restrained and calm was restored without any further incident.”

The Commissioner of Police stressed that their timely action demonstrated the Command’s readiness to confront criminality with professionalism and courage.

He further directed that the case be transferred to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit for thorough investigation and diligent prosecution.

“Efforts are also ongoing, in collaboration with the Oyo State Police Command, to trace and identify the rightful owner of the recovered tricycle.”

The Official theme for Nigeria’s 2025 Independence Day celebrations is “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” according to the federal government.

This was contained in a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the theme, “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” indicates the need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism among government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens to advance national peace, prosperity, and progress.

The government said the choice of theme reflected Nigeria’s resilience since independence in 1960, stressing the importance of consolidating past achievements, while pursuing loftier goals under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

It added that “Government agencies and partners are expected to align their programmes with the anniversary theme to ensure its message resonates across all spheres of national life.

“As part of activities lined up for the 65th Independence celebrations, a Juma’at prayer will hold on Friday, September 26, followed by an inter-denominational church service on Sunday, September 28.

“There will also be a World Press Conference on Monday, September 29, in Abuja, the nation’s capital.”

1000 Pilgrims To Be Airlifted To Israel, Jordan  Through Imo Airport, Trip Flagged Off

0

President Bola Tinubu, Governor Hope Uzodimma ( Imo), Alex Oti ( Abia) and the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rt. Rev. Prof. Stephen Adegbite have warned Nigerian Christian pilgrims traveling to Israel and Jordan against absconding during their stay in the Holy lands, urging them to make patriotism and dignity their watchwords while there.

They spoke Wednesday at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo State while flagging off the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission’s (NCPC) 2025 Delayed Easter Pilgrimage Exercise to Israel and Jordan.

They warned seriously that the NCPC had put strict measures in place to ensure near-zero cases of abscondment and truancy during the trip.

No fewer than 1000 pilgrims are participating in the exercise this year.

Tinubu who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, described pilgrimage as “a spiritual journey of faith” and a “platform for moral transformation and spiritual rebirth.”

He urged the pilgrims to return home with their groups at the end of the exercise, confident that the experiences they gained during the trip would help them contribute positively to building “an egalitarian society where no man is oppressed.”

The President used the opportunity to highlight his administration’s support for both Christian and Muslim pilgrimages, indicating that “prayer remains a sustaining force for Nigeria” reiterates his government’s commitment to promoting religious harmony.

His words: “It is important at this point to admonish the intending Christian Pilgrims to show patriotism as they embark on this spiritual journey. You should not contemplate abscondment in your minds because there is no country like Nigeria. While in Nigeria, you have your freedom and you will be recognised in your own little way. But once you stay behind illegally, you have automatically lost all your respect and dignity.

“I therefore, urge you to ensure you return with your batch at the end of your pilgrimage exercise so that you can join forces with the government to build an egalitarian society where no man is oppressed.

“It is equally germane to reiterate that NCPC under the leadership of Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite has put all mechanisms in place to check abscondment. It will interest you to know that the Commission in all its pilgrimages from December last year to date has been able to achieve almost zero abscondment, so be warned.”

Assuring that his administration remains committed to promoting the spiritual well-being of Nigerians, irrespective of religion,

Tinubu emphasised that the theme of the exercise, “Pilgrimage of Renewed Hope for Total Restoration,” aligns perfectly with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to improve the quality of life of all Nigerians.

Though he acknowledged that some government’s policies had been tough on citizens, he assured that “there will certainly be light at the end of the dark tunnel.”

He highlighted strides recorded under his government in youth empowerment, infrastructure, education, and security, and  noted that the reductions in insurgency, kidnapping, and banditry can be traced to the government’s resolve to restore peace.

He not only praised the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Bishop Adegbite, for successfully organising four pilgrimages within two years of his leadership, including the ongoing Easter pilgrimage, he also congratulated him on his recent appointment as Chaplain of the State House Chapel, describing him as “a man of proven efficiency.”

The President also lauded Governor Uzodinma, for sponsoring 1,000 Christian pilgrims this year, even as he did the same in 2023.

Tinubu praised Governor Uzodinma’s commitment to the spiritual upliftment and infrastructural development of Imo State.

In his remarks, Governor Uzodimma thanked the President for taking keen interest in the physical and spiritual well-being of the Nigerian citizens and for his commitment for a better country.

The Imo State Governor who brought to the fore the efficacy of prayers, using what happened to Imo State before now and where the State is now as a case study, admonished the pilgrims to see the exercise as an opportunity to seek the face of God, pray for the State and the Country.

He cautioned them against escaping.

His words: “We will work against any abuse. As you journey to the Holy lands carry Nigeria in your heart, pray for peace, prosperity, unity, and the President (for additional wisdom and guidance).”

Governor Uzodimma assures that by next year more persons would be supported to go to pilgrims, saying ” we have relative peace in Imo State.”

The Governor who encouraged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the State and the Country assured them that all their needs in the Holy lands would me met including their estacodes and allowances. He quipped, “you will not lack anything in Israel or Jordan, come back as new individuals, earn dignity and respect, renew the hope, which is the wisdom, go and follow your destiny. I wish you safe trip.”

Also in his remarks the Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Oti who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba told the pilgrims not to see the trip as a mere tourist exercise.

He encouraged the pilgrims to ask themselves the question of why they want to go on pilgrimage rather than see or take it as any other journey.

Earlier in his address, Bishop Adegbite thanked President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Uzodimma and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume for their commitment towards the spiritual upliftment of the Nigerian citizens.

Adegbite lauded Governor Uzodimma for being examplary in the way he takes the things of God, stressing that though the Governor was awarded the Ambassador of Pilgrimage in Nigeria by the NCPC last year chances of the Governor getting the same honour this year are very high.

He described Uzodimma as “a wonderful Governor, leader par excellence, great man by all standards, beckon of hope for Imo, Pilgrimage and Nigeria.”

Adegbite also joined in urging the pilgrims to see the trip as purely a spiritual one and apply themselves accordingly.

Prayers were offered for the Body of Christ, for Peace in Nigeria and the Middle East, for successful Pilgrimage and for the President, the Governors and Nigerian leaders.

The highpoint of the event was the formal flag off of the exercise by the President’s representative, Sen Akume assisted by Governor Uzodimma, Bishop Adegbite and other key stakeholders.

The event was attended by different dignitaries from and outside Imo State.

Rivers Fmr. Administrator, Ibas, EFCC Chairman, Finance Minister Meet At Presidential Villa

Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas and Bola Tinubu

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

There appears to be a subtle inquest into the financial records of Rivers State during the six-month Emergency Rule in the State.

The Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, who left office on September 17, was on Wednesday September 24, 2025 invited to the Presidential Villa ,in a  move perceived by some as the beginning of an investigation into his expenditures while in the saddle.

There have been  deafening calls  for the Sole Administrator to be  probed  over his alleged mishandling of about N254 billion that accrued to Rivers state from the Federation Accounts in the last six months.

Particularly , questions have been raised concerning a  N22 billion CCTV contract he  awarded ,as well as several billions said to have been sunk in the just concluded Local Council Polls in the State.

The Rivers State Lawmakers, on their first sitting on Thursday September 18,after returning from their six months suspension,  had  vowed to carry out  an investigation into the State’s financial records as left behind by Ibas.

Although the Sole Administrator had dismissed the move by the Legislators to probe his reign, he was a guest to the President on Wednesday  afternoon over issues believed to be in  connection with his tenure in Rivers state.

He was accompanied on the Aso Rock visit by the duo of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFFC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede and Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

The former Rivers State Sole Administrator reportedly arrived at the Presidential Villa ,at about 5:50 pm , alongside the EFCC boss and Finance Minister.

The Finance Minister was said to have left the Villa shortly after the threesome arrived, and later reappeared with files ,a development that accentuated concerns that Ibas may have been facing questions from the Presidency.

However, details of the meeting were not known as at the time of reporting.

APC Accuses Sowore Of Treason

Omoyele Sowore

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

For saying President Bola Tinubu is a criminal, the All Progressive Congress, APC, Rivers State Chapter on Wednesday September 24, 2025, accused Omoyele Sowore, Lawyer, human rights activist, politician and Publisher of SaharaReporters, an online publication, of committing a treasonable  offence.

The Source reports that the Presidency and Department of State Service DSS have in the last few weeks raised serious concerns about Sowore, calling the President a  “criminal” in one of his posts.

After failing to persuade Sowore to pull down the post from his official site, the DSS formally resorted to a legal challenge against him.

But in a statement issued on Wednesday ,the Rivers State APC Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, called for tougher measures against the SaharaReporters Publisher.

Chief Okocha while accusing Sowore of a deliberate propagation of falsehood with the intent to incite the people, also insisted that the actions of the human rights activist are akin to treasonable felony.

This is as the party urged Nigerians to resist  attempts by the likes of Sowore to undermine public confidence in the Government of Nigeria.

“Spreading false news with clear intention to overreach or defame another’s character or integrity is unacceptable.

“Attempting to incite Nigerians against the Government with the crudity of style is treasonable felony.

“Any action capable of undermining public trust and potent enough to threaten Nigeria’s democracy, stemming from malice is unacceptable.

“In every democracy, criticism is welcome, but what Nigerians must reject are deliberate lies, propaganda, and attempts to defame under the guise of activism.

“Sowore has built his entire career on lies. His SaharaReporters platform is notorious for publishing fabricated stories and half-truths often used as tools for blackmail and extortions”, Okocha stated.

The Source further reports that apart from referring to President Tinubu as a “criminal” Sowore last week accused the Federal Capital Territory FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of illegally acquiring some choice properties in Florida, the United States of America USA ,with public funds.

But according to the Rivers state APC Chairman ,the allegations against Wike are in tandem with Sowore’s antecedents of spewing false and unsubstantiated claims with the intent to blackmail.

Okocha, therefore, urged the Federal Government to, as a matter of necessity, take steps to rein in Sowore.

“These baseless allegations are nothing more than the bitter rantings of a man rejected by Nigerians at the poll and drowning in political irrelevance.

“Which  sane citizen of a country can refer to the highest office holder as a  Criminal?, the APC Chairman queried

Families Of  Deceased Police Officers Get N2.17 Billion Life Assurance

Kayode Egbetokun - IGP

By Ayodele Oni

To ensure that they did not labour in vain, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode  Egbetokun, has announced the disbursement of cheques worth ₦2.17 billion to 1,574 beneficiaries under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.

Speaking during the ceremony at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, IGP Egbetokun explained that the payment covers policy years from 2015 to 2025, including long-overdue claims that had been pending for nearly a decade.

According to the IGP, these recoveries were made possible through persistent engagement with insurance companies to ensure that justice was finally served for the families who had been waiting for so long.

“This ceremony is not just another official function. “It is a solemn duty of remembrance and responsibility — a demonstration that the Nigeria Police Force does not abandon its own. Behind every badge is a family that bears the weight of sacrifice, and we will never forget them.”

Since assuming office as the 22nd Inspector-General of Police, Egbetokun disclosed that this event marked the 11th phase of the welfare disbursement exercise.

Over this period, a total of ₦24.2 billion has been paid to 9,735 families of deceased officers across the country.

While acknowledging that no monetary sum could replace the loss of a loved one, he described the payments as a “symbol of collective gratitude and a commitment to continue standing by the families of fallen heroes.”

The IGP also pledged comprehensive reforms to strengthen the Police welfare system, including digitizing processes to ensure prompt payment of entitlements and prevent unnecessary delays.

“Welfare is not a footnote in our agenda; it is the heartbeat of our reforms. We are building a system that is transparent, responsive, and fair, so that no family of a deceased officer is ever left unattended or forgotten.”

Egbetokun commended the Force Insurance Unit for its diligence and the insurance companies for fulfilling their obligations, while urging them to remain steadfast in promptly processing future claims.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu,  for his unwavering support of police welfare initiatives, as well as the Ministry of Police Affairs for its guidance.

The event ended on a reflective note as the IGP paid tribute to the sacrifices of the fallen officers.

“Every name we honour today represents a life laid down for the peace and security of our nation. May their souls rest in peace, and may their sacrifice inspire us all to serve with greater courage and integrity,” he said.

He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to supporting the families of officers who died in the line of duty.

The families present at the ceremony expressed relief and appreciation, describing the payments as a long-awaited gesture of care and recognition for their loved ones’ service to the nation.

Residents Send SOS Appeal To LASG Over Insecurity

By Akinwale Kasali

The spate of insecurity has become a source of terrible worry  for residents of Baruwa, Candos Road, Fatade, Oluwaga, 2 Storey, and nearby communities within Ipaja-Ayobo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, of Lagos State.

Residents lament that the surge in insecurity in the aforementioned area, coupled with constant break-ins and looting of shops remains unabated, leading to a Save Our Soul Appeal, SOS, to the Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government to wade in.

Residents in the area are embittered that the insecurity bedeviling the area has left many hardworking business owners devastated and counting heavy losses.

They complained that on several occasions they had reported the growing case of insecurity, house burgling and armed robbery incidents to the Police, but sadly, the criminal activities remain unchecked.

Isaac Obasi, a journalist with Pen Pusher News Medium stated that the areas have been notorious for insecurity and robbery, and the Police feel unbothered on the ordeal of residents who have had close shave with death in the hands of the criminals tormenting the area.

“I had made several reports and complains at the Police Station off Oluwaga Busstop, there has been no changes, unfortunately, instead of abating, the situation appears to be worsening.

“Several residents who reached out to me after my earlier report revealed that churches in the Fatade area have also been repeatedly robbed, with valuable sound systems and musical instruments worth millions of naira carted away.

“Shops around the same axis have not been spared either.

“On Monday night, community elders in 2 Storey narrated yet another chilling incident. Criminals broke into a shop after forcefully damaging the locks. Their operation was cut short only when someone raised an alarm, forcing them to flee in a Toyota Sienna vehicle they brought to loot the shop.

“This morning, residents of 2 Storey woke up to a tragic sight, the lifeless body of a young man lying on the road, this is sad and disheartening. We urge and appeal to the Lagos State Government to wade into the issue of insecurity in this area”, Obasi stated.

An eyewitness account said that there was a sporadic gunshot in the midnight, alleging that it was what led to death of the person.

Another source stated that the victim, dressed in shorts and a sleeveless shirt, was allegedly using his phone when armed men on a motorcycle shot him dead at close range.

The Police later evacuated the body of the death.

Abiodun Mc Carthy, a resident lamented that the Police Station in the area is not proactive, leading to wanton losses of properties and valuables to the armed robbers.

He appealed to the Governor Sanwo-Olu Government to, as a matter of urgency, address the issue before it further escalates into a major crisis.

In an effort to seek solutions, last Friday, I personally met with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ipaja-Ayobo Police Division. I introduced myself as a Journalist, Human Rights Activist, and Community Leader, and briefed her on the wave of attacks. Shockingly, she only acknowledged a single reported case which is that of a gas dealer whose shop was burgled. I had to stress that the crisis is far broader, with multiple shops and churches being attacked almost nightly. While the DPO admitted the police are also facing serious challenges, she assured that steps would be taken to address the menace.

With the continuous influx of new residents into our communities, the urgency for improved security cannot be overstated. Sadly, what is happening in Baruwa, Fatade, and Ayobo is only a reflection of the larger picture insecurity is on the rise across Nigeria, from the East to the North, and from the South to the Southwest.

Now is the time for both government authorities and community members to take decisive and coordinated action to safeguard lives and property before more damage is done.

Trending Story Of Trump Meeting With Me Is Fake And Devious – Obi

0
Peter Obi and Donald Trump

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has described the circulating story of him meeting with the US President Donald Trump as fake, orchestrated for a devious motive.

Writing on his X handle on Wednesday, Obi said:

“My attention has been drawn to some pictures currently circulating on social media, falsely portraying meetings I never had.

“One of such images purports to show me with  US President Donald Trump, alongside a fabricated claim that he praised me. Another seeks to depict me with MC Oluomo in his office.

“Let me state categorically that both pictures are fake and doctored, and the accompanying stories are entirely false. I have not met Mr Trump recently, nor have I had any such meeting with MC Oluomo.

“These fabrications highlight the persistent dangers of fake news and disinformation in our society. They are not only misleading but deliberately designed to confuse, misguide, and distract the public. Nigerians and the international community must remain vigilant, verify information before sharing, and resist the culture of propaganda that undermines truth and integrity.

“For the avoidance of doubt, if I had such meetings, I would have personally made them public on my X handle. My politics has never been about seeking praise or cheap publicity; it is about confronting the real problems of Nigeria and working towards solutions grounded in integrity, accountability, and transparency.

“My politics is strictly focused on addressing the plight of the suffering Nigerians, by tackling insecurity, rule of law, education, healthcare, and pulling millions out of poverty.”
