The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Iku Baba Yeye

By Akinwale Kasali

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Iku Baba Yeye, has, allegedly, sent his Ninth wife packing on grounds of infidelity with Fuji Maestro, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall.

The Social Media was on fire, Wednesday night, 15th April, 2020, over the news that the ‘Igba Keji Oorisa’ as Alaafin is referred to, has sent his 22-year old wife, Olori Badirat Adeyemi packing for allegedly committing adultery with KWAM 1.

Ironically, the Fuji artist was recently conferred with the title of *Mayegun of Yorubaland* by the respected Monarch.

The Magazine gathered that  the Alaafin took the decision to send the young Olori packing, not minding the bad press it would give to his ancestral stool, because  Olori Badirat was, allegedly, caught red handed in the sordid business.

Olori Badirat has a twin for the Monarch, both of whom she usually flaunts on her Social media page.

The mother of three has since  deleted pictures her pictures with the Monarch on her Instagram page @Queenola2.

Her last post on her official Instagram page was captioned; “On Becoming FEARLESS.”

Her fan page was captioned; “Almighty Allah please protect and guide this woman Badirat Ajoke Olaitan. Guide her to the right path always , teach how to handle things , let her have peace of mind I call upon you because you’re our Rabb and any soul that know is blessed ya Allah.

“Answer all her prayers the one say to you and the one she forget bless her ️”

She runs a charity foundation called the Queen Ajoke Adeyemi Foundation (QAAF) with special focus on assisting children from indigent homes and training youths on vocational jobs.

The news about the sending away of the 22-year old Olori who recently completed her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has gone viral, and, is generating series of reaction from Mocial Media users.

A Twitter user, Aderemi Tijani tweeted: “Youngest wife of ALAAFIN of Oyo, Queen Badirat Ajoke was sent out of the palace by HRM yesterday on allegations of having adulterous affairs with Maiyegun of Yorubaland & King of Fuji Music, Wasic Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1). Wasiu that impregnated his wife’s cousin. Shameless Man!”

Another Twitter user, Mr Rotimi tweeted: “Brymo should have dedicated “Oleku” to Kwam 1 because there’s virtually nothing that man cannot do when it comes to women affairs.”

First Bank Dumps Insurance Business

By Tosin Olatokunbo

The management of First Bank Holdings has divested its share from FBN Insurance Limited in what keen watchers in the financial sector said is a signal that things are not really well with the first generation bank.

The holding company for all First Bank investments within and outside the continent, on Wednesday notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE of its readiness to draw down its 65 per cent shares in the insurance company.

The junior partner, Sanlam Emerging Markets (Sanlam) the owners of 35 per cent equity in FBN Insurance Limited (FBNI), Seye Kosoko, the company’s secretary said has been notified of the decision.

By the formal notice sent to the Exchange, Kosoko said, the junior partner has been put on notice, the company’s decision to dump the huge shares in line with the “Group’s strategic objectives”.

Keen sector watchers informed the magazine that the management may have decided to shut down other subsidiaries and focus on its core business as a lender

The decision to dump one of its core subsidiaries in the country signals a ‘deep-seated problem’ in the parent company, watchers say.

“Whatever constitutes ‘strategic objectives’, FBN Holdings Ltd has just confirmed the suggestions of a raging storm in the Adesola Kazeem Adeduntan -led bank,” Folawari Benson, a financial analyst told the magazine on Thursday.

US Explores The Possibility Of COVID 19 Emerging From Chinese Lab

0

By Uche Mbah
Amid reports that the Chinese Government is banning any investigations into the origin of COVID 19, the US Intelligentsia believe all evidence is pointing to the disease emanating from a Chinese lab instead of raw food.
The Initial narrative was that the virus originated from bats and snakes consumed from Wuhan Meat Market. Bats and snakes are therefore said to be primary vendors.
But CNN reports that the US intelligentsia is working on the principle that the virus was introduced through a laboratory in Wuhan. Wuhan harbors the Chinese Biochem lab that researches into biological warfare. Even the highly rated Wuhan University is an affiliate of the Institute. The US intelligentsia, however, said it is too early to draw final conclusions.
Earlier speculations were fuelled by a viral account of a self acclaimed-but unnamed-senior intelligence officer in China who gave an account of how the government manufactured the virus and tested it on terrorists. It was aimed at Hong Kong protesters who the Chinese government wished to immobilize through a lab manufactured gas, which ended up being fatal to the victims. The Chinese government withdrew it, and in a bid by one of the scientists to sell it for private gain, there was a shoot out. The specimen broke in Wuhan signaling the start of the pandemic.
The story has not been confirmed anywhere. Nor has it been denied. Many believe it may be part of disinformation.
According to CNN, “US intelligence is reviewing sensitive intelligence collection aimed at the Chinese government, according to the intelligence source, as they pursue the theory. But some intelligence officials say it is possible the actual cause may never be known.”
They quoted the Joint Chief of Staff Chairman Mark Milley as acknowledging this week that US intelligence is taking “a hard look” at the question of whether the novel coronavirus originated in a lab.
“I would just say, at this point, it’s inconclusive although the weight of evidence seems to indicate natural (origin). But we don’t know for certain,” Milley told reporters on Tuesday, according to CNN.
China has denied that the virus was from any lab. But the UK Sun quoted Fox News as saying that China manufactured the disease “to prove China was on par with – or superior to – the US, in terms of its ability to fight infections.”
Describeded as the “costliest government coverup of all time” by sources, it was said that the food vendor story was a coverup.

Ogun PDP: Daniel Missing In Action, Kashamu Takes Over

0

By Fola James

The battle for the soul of Ogun state Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP is as fierce as ever, with Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of the state and Buruji Kasamu, a former senator representing Ogun East battling for supremacy.

The crisis came to a head on Monday with the suspension of the state PDP chairman, Bayo Dayo, an ally of the former governor, for alleged anti party activities.

The faction loyal to the senator had accused the party chair of trying to compromise the PDP congresses in the state in favour of Daniel and his allies.

“We have the evidence of the meeting at Equity Hotel, Ijebu Ode, where Dayo collected money to sell the Ogun State structures of the PDP to Kessington Adebutu,” Kashamu said in a letter personally signed by him.

Adebutu and Daniel were instrumental to the emergence of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the APC in last year’s governorship election in the state.

On his part, the embattled chairman has also claimed that, at the centre of his predicament, is his refusal to sell the party structures to the senator.

Dayo said “They (Kashamu group) came to my house day before yesterday with N10m; they told me to take the money in order to sign their papers.

The paper is to withdraw the letter I wrote to the lawyer. I was also asked to write a letter to INEC telling them we have concluded the congresses of the state.

I resisted, I said I have written a letter to the lawyer that I do not need his services anymore because we are going to unite ourselves and I cannot sign the other letter telling INEC that we have concluded the congresses.”

He said he remains the chairman “I am still the state chairman, they are just deceiving themselves. The side of the case is that I am making a move to reconcile with the other group in our party in Ogun State so that the party can move forward.”

Dayo served as the party chair under Daniel’s administration and has since remained in that position until he was suspended by a faction of the party loyal to the ex-senator few days ago.

The former governor has been somehow docile on matters concerning the PDP since the current governor came to power, watchers of politics in the state told the magazine.

Daniel is among the political blocs in the state that ensured that APC Governor Abiodun emerged winner in the last governorship election in the state.

As a compensation for his support, the governor rewarded the former helmsman by appointing his allies into his cabinet.

The former governor has been rumoured of nursing a plan to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Daniel who served as the Director General of Abubakar Atiku’s Presidential Campaign team in the 2019 presidential election, shocked many last year after he claimed pressure was being mounted on him to dump the PDP.

He later said he has left active politics.

Earlier in January, thousands of Daniel’s PDP supporters, led by Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC  dumped the PDP for APC and were welcome by Governor Abiodun into the ruling party.

Meanwhile, sources close to the former governor told the magazine on Thursday that the ex-governor jettisoned his earlier plan to join the APC after his hope of becoming a cabinet minister was dashed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

COVID-19: Tinubu Advises FG

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to look into the plight of Nigerians over the Lockdown of the country, no thanks to the Pandemic, Covid-19.

He also advised President Buhari on how to sustain the economy and save citizens from dying of hunger.

Tinubu called for an economic relief package in the form of emergency sustenance payments to vulnerable Nigerians.

The APC leader made this statement in his Economic Policy paper entitled Coronavirus Economic Stimulus Programme.

According to him, “This situation presents a historic chance to establish a more beneficial social contract between government and the governed.

“With the fiscal latitude provided by lifting the budgetary limit, government can render emergency sustenance relief to most Nigerian households, especially the recently unemployed, via cash payments.

“This will blunt hunger, maintain aggregate demand in the domestic economy and help sustain private-sector markets to the extent possible.

“Directed towards needy and modest households, such expenditure must be heavily weighted to local produce, not to imports. This will help mute inflation.

“Such payments can be done in either one or in a combination of three ways. First, we can designate a stipend for every household.

“The amount should be enough to pay for the monthly needs of an “average” household for food and other basics. While this may somewhat penalise larger families, perfection cannot be had at this time.

“Second, the stipends could be given as a form of emergency unemployment insurance to those who can prove they were relieved of employment due to the crisis. This would be more targeted at the actual victims of the crisis but harder to administer.

“This stipend would also have to be extended to owners of small and medium-sized businesses. “Third, we could render some form of payroll support to companies and businesses that seek to retain workers albeit they may not be fully employed.

“The stipend could help companies stay in operation while maintaining workers on their payroll. By maintaining workers, the company can more swiftly return to full operation when normalcy returns. Payment of these stipends will require hiring additional government workers to augment the existing bureaucracies to implement this program.”

COVID 19 Palliatives: FG Diverts Billions To Katsina

0

By Fola James

Many Nigerians will not be happy that a bulk of the cash palliative meant to cushion the effects of the corona virus pandemic has been diverted to the president’s home state, Katsina.

With a total of 133,227 beneficiaries, Katsina State is the highest recipient of the Federal Government’s Conditional Cash Transfer programme, according to figures provided by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Two other Northern states followed in the pack of states with the highest number of recipients who have received at least N20, 000 in the last few weeks.

Lagos state, the epicenter of the pandemic has so far not received any cash transfer from the federal government.

The revelation came on the crest of concerns by many states in the country that their people have been deliberately left out of the programme.

Penultimate week, the Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila met with Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. , Sadiya Umar Farouq  to address the issue.

According to infographic data published by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting on states captured in the CCT scheme and their respective number Delta and Borno states had zero beneficiaries as at April 9, 2020.

The infographic, which was created on April 11, 2020, stated its source as the National Cash Transfer Office and revealed that 1,126,211 households have benefited from the CCT programme.

Zamfara, Jigawa, Kano, Plateau, Kebbi, Kogi, and Benue states had 130,764; 99,044; 84,148; 78,430; 76,026; 62,129; and 58,943 beneficiaries respectively.

Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kwara, Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Yobe, and Bauchi states had 48,687; 35,384; 32,218; 26,532; 24,929; 24,814; and 23,305 beneficiaries respectively.

The number of beneficiaries in the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Taraba, Adamawa, Osun, Oyo, and Cross River states are 20,129; 19,898; 17,803; 16,988; 15,572; 13,811; and 11,998 respectively.

For Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, Anambra, and Imo states, the number of beneficiaries are 11,368; 9,805; 9,596; 9,347; 8,105; and 7,220 respectively.

Meanwhile, Farouq assured on Wednesday at the daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID 19 that states that have not received the palliatives will receive theirs soon.

Imo: Trouble Looms Over Plans To Probe Ihedioha Over Alleged Stolen N19.63bn LG Funds

0
Uzodinma and Ihedioha

By Charles Igbo

The peace of the graveyard in Imo may soon disappear, and erupt into a big clash. Trouble which end not many can predict, looms.

Here is why.

The Imo State Government is set to probe the immediate past Government headed by the Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.

The government hinges this move on the recommendation of the State’s Auditor General for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The AG asked the Government to take necessary steps to recover a whopping sum of N19.63billion, allegedly, siphoned from the State/LG Joint Accounts Allocation (JAAC), through the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BLGCA), during the Ihedioha Administration.

The Administration lasted for only seven months.

Addressing a press conference in Owerri yesterday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba disclosed that the alleged misappropriation was stumbled upon during a routine audit of the accounts and records of JAAC.

Emelumba insisted that the government’s action is premised on its decision to entrench financial discipline and rule of law, based on extant laws which pertain to the custody, management and appropriation of public funds.

One of the burning issues is the disbursement of the sum of  over N1.2 billion to a company, Wall House for the supply of equipment for road construction, apparently at the LGAs.

Even though some of the equipments are there, the government, according to our sources, allege they are way below standard. It is, also, allegef that all formal and informal efforts, to get the company’s boss, Chuka Odom, former Minister of State, FCT, have been ignored by him.

But in a swift response, Ihedioha’s  Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftains Affairs, Mayor Eze, cried foul, and dismissed, even the thought, as a huge joke, saying he found it difficult to believe that such bare- faced lies could see the light of day.

In a statement entitled:

RE: N19. 63 BILLION STOLEN LG FUNDS: IMO GOVERNMENT APPROVES REQUEST BY AUDITOR GENERAL TO RECOVER FUND FROM IHEDIOHA’S ADMINISTRATION, Eze insisted that the allegation of siphoned funds was a figment of somebody’s imagination, emphasizing that it never happened under his watch.

Following, excerpts from Eze’s Press Release where he tried to confront the allegations, and explain how funds were disbursed, especially, to Wall House

“The fact that anyone will openly state that an amount, (N19. 63Billion), which us over  60% of the entire  LG allocation, received under the Ihedioha administration was stolen, makes the whole thing a comic relief for this  COVID-19 sit at home  period.

“As the man in charge of the Bureau then,  I decided to make some facts clear for the reading public to make up their minds.

* “Wall House was paid N945m  before we left, and not N1.215 billion as claimed. He has also delivered seventeen pieces of the Earth moving equipments to the present government of  Imo state and they are parked within the Heroes Square premises.

* “There was no such thing as Unconscionable mandatory withdrawal of N2.405 billion. From who to who, where and when?

*”There was nothing like payment of N9. 378 billion to Local government councils for an undisclosed purpose. If such funds were paid into local government councils, that’s a bonus. But who paid that and from where?

*”Anyama and Co recieved N245m for no disclosed purpose. I do not  know who is Anyama and Co, and the Bureau did not pay that   under my watch.

*”Compulsory returns on kick-backs from local government councils to the BLGCA to the tune of N2. 404 billion: There is absolutely nothing like that.

*”Payment of N245m to Raphael Anyama and Co (Chartered Accountants) from Rural roads without Payment vouchers: I repeat, I do not know this individual or company and no such money was paid to him when I was in the Bureau as Special Adviser.

*”Payments made through the banks without Payment vouchers or evidence of expenditure to the tone of N3. 332 billion: Like others above, this is a total fabrication and falsehood.

*Curious Phenomenon where N25m was paid twice to the Principal Secretary to the Governor as Security vote: Once again, this is laughable. Was the money paid cash or through an account? This is a senseless fabrication.

*”I am yet to see the attached document for other details.”

How Pastors, Imams, Speaking In Tongues Destroyed Nigeria

0

By Mathew Kukah

I have never been as unsure of Nigeria’s future as I am now.

After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work.

But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast.

So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and build a great factory of it.

While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology.

While we were praying, India went into ICT.

While we were praying, China went into massive industrialization.

While we were shouting Allah Alakuba! UAE went into massive infrastructural development.

While we were binding and casting Lucifer, Japan went into technological development.

While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark went into education of her citizens.

While we were mounting big speakers in our places of worship, USA was mounting man on the moon.

After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour.

Since those that went into industrialization, technology, infrastructural development, ICT, education etc had been rewarded accordingly; it’s only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers.

That’s why today, Nigerian Pastors are competing in building the biggest churches.

That’s why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools.

That’s why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals.

That’s why we don’t do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when such collapse, we blame devil.

That’s why it’s a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams.

That’s why our pastors don’t consider the opinions of engineers while building and blame devil when the building collapsed.

That’s why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapses we blame it on Lucifer.

That’s why our Pastors are making sure they plant Church branches instead of schools in every street in Nigeria.

That’s why we always wait for God to do that which ability to accomplish he has already handed over to us.

That’s why we want our teachers to labour on earth and come to Heaven for their rewards.

Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all.

When we are traveling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half-fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother-in-law if anything goes wrong.

That’s why there are more people dying on our roads than wild life animals in the wild.

Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when God has given us all we need to survive and build a nation…….God help us.

Happy Easter!

Prof. Maurice Iwu appreciating the ASUU research team for their donation to Government of Imo State.

The Pharmacy Department of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has mass-produced Hand Sanitizers. The Sanitizers are being distributed to state governments through the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASSU to help in the containment of Coronavirus.

On Tuesday, it was the turn of Imo State Government to receive its own batch of the Sanitizers. This production comes at a time when fake hand sanitizers have flooded the country.

Receiving the products on behalf of Governor Hope Uzodinma on Tuesday, Chairman of the Covid-19 Prevention and Control Committee, Prof. Maurice Iwu stated that ASUU’s donation consists of well researched sanitizers, which he said is the greatest gift to the government of Imo State.

Professor Iwu, who revealed that the sanitisers were produced by the Department of Pharmacy, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, encouraged the Association never to rest on its oars, but continue to carry out medical research especially at this time that the Corona virus pandemic is ravaging the world.

He further commended the ASUU for daring all handicaps, including the non-payment of salaries, disagreement with government and the stay at home order, to produce what would help sedate the corona virus scourge.

Prof. Iwu added that the state government was grateful for the presentation which he described as “the greatest donation the government has received so far.”

He noted: “That Government has so far received other palliatives to cushion the effect of the corona virus disease and stay at home other but the State government is seeing this from the point of view of the sacrifice you made to come to this level of presentation.”

Prof. Iwu assured the association that the sanitizers will get to the targeted audience as well as be put to good use in the fight against the dreaded disease.

Earlier, the leader of Academic Staff Union of Universities and the zonal leader of Owerri zone, Prof. Uzochukwu Onyebinama said the donation is their humble contribution towards Governor Uzodimma’s efforts in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

Prof. Onyebinama reassured the government that ASUU members will not relent in the research programme to discover lasting solution to the disease especially now that scientists all over the world are tasked for such as a result of corona virus.

He implored all Nigerian Universities and other stakeholders to stand up to the challenge and ensure that Covid-19 war is defeated.
