Politicians Are Detractors”; I Will Now Work With Professionals – Ekiti’s Gov. Oyebanji

By Ayodele Oni

Politicians jostling for appointment in the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti state will still have to wait for a longer period.

This is because the Governor has declared that for now, he will consider experienced professionals for appointment into positions.

Oyebanji said politicians will detract him from accomplishing set objectives of his administration and that he wants to be focussed now.

The Governor spoke in Ado Ekiti during swearing in ceremony of special advisers and some reappointed commissioners.

There has been an uneasy calm within the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) due to reappointment of some persons that served in the immediate past administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi.

The governor said he was aware of the concerns by party members over his appointments so far and assured them that they would not be neglected.

The re appointed and their portfolios are Akintunde Oyebode, Commissioner for Finance, and Oyebanji Filani, Commissioner for Health. Both served in those offices in the previous administration.

The Special Advisers are Niyi Adebayo, Budget, Economic Planning and Performance Management; Tayo Adeola, Investment, Trade and industry; Ebenezer Boluwade, Agriculture and Food Security; Kofoworola Aderiye, Education, Science and Technology; Jide Awe, Political and Inter Party Affairs; Tope Ogunleye, Bureau of Special Project; Seun Fakuade, Governance, Reforms and Innovation; and Olayinka Oyebode, also reappointed, Media and Strategy/Chief Press Secretary.

“I am not unmindful of the fact that there have been concerns on the configuration of these appointments.”

“I will like to place on record that I am committed to my campaign promise that party leaders will play a very critical role in appointments to political offices at the appropriate time.”

To the appointees, the governor said, “Let me state that you were carefully chosen to be part of our team on our journey to Ekiti Prosperity because of my abiding confidence in your ability and competence.

“The chief consideration for your invitation to serve is the compelling resume of your excellence in character, career attainment, experience and aptitude.

“For me, appointment must be earned on the scores of competence, character and creativity, and on these, you have discharged yourselves creditably well.

“I am personally impressed about your life achievements, but more importantly, about the fact that we share the same dream and enthusiasm about a prosperous state.

“Political leadership in our climes comes with its inherent burden and contradictions which you must quickly understand.

“As top government functionaries, you will, expectedly, come under intense pressure. You, however, need to develop a positive mindset to manage expectations with compassion, firmness, magnanimity and fear of God.

“As you assume office today, you are expected to bring to bear your wealth of experience and leverage your competences to meet the expectation of our people.”

Edo NUJ Complex Stays As Government Denies Planned Demolition

It is a rumour and it has been dispelled that Edo state government is planning to demolish the building housing the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) in Benin City.

The two storey building is located at the Government Reserved Area, (GRA) with facilities such as chalets, restaurants and bar.

In a press release signed by Chris Osa Nehikhare ,the Edo state Commissioner for Communication and Orientation stated that “government is aware of an unfortunate and highly misinforming report” issued by the Edo State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists titled: OBASEKI PLAN TO MAKE EDO JOURNALISTS HOMELESS but that there is neither such a plan to demolish the NUJ building nor build a museum on the NUJ site.

Mr Chris Nehikhare explained that Edo state government is doing some initial survey and study work in connection with the preservation and protection of the walls and moats, which necessitated the visit to the premises of the NUJ.

He said that the NUJ site borders some of the most visible sections of the walls and moats in the city, and archaeologists and specialist architects have visited areas around the moats with a view to determining how best to assist National Commission of Museums and Monuments with the preservation of the moats.

The commissioner, who also stated that the ancient walls and moats of Benin are one of the greatest achievements of medieval Africa, maintained that this explains why the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration is only interested in improving the systems of heritage management which has suffered significantly in recent times due to environmental pressures, urban growth and encroachment .

According to the commissioner, government is working with some institutions who are vested and interested in improving our systems of heritage management.

“They  are currently developing a comprehensive programme of research, conservation management and public education centred on these monuments, with the goal being to find ways to protect moats and walls, and also to consider ways to highlight the moats to encourage tourism and accessibility.”

While stating that media practitioners in Edo state have not only enjoyed a cordial working relationship with Edo State government, Mr Nehikhare maintained that they have also enjoyed an unfettered rein of reportage and in line with government’s tradition of presenting the facts of all matters for public scrutiny and understanding.

“The EDSG is compelled to inform the general public of Government’s well-intentioned and very deliberate action in its drive to create a tourism market in the state.”

Mr  Nehikhare who disclosed that the government has over the years enjoyed objective reportage of all its activities, enjoined Journalists to remain objective in all matters without sentiments.

Kayode Fayemi and SW APC Publicists

By Ayodele Oni

Publicity Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) in the South West zone have described the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, CON as an Emeritus  Governor who served both his state and country meritoriously.

The team of publicists visited Fayemi in his Ado Ekiti private residence on Saturday where they urged the ex-Ekiti helmsman not to relent in giving more of himself to Nigeria and humanity as a whole, despite his serving out his two-term as a governor.

They described as patriotic and statesmanlike the decision of the ex-Governor to drop his ambition to rule the country, and pulled his political weight behind Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who eventually emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.

Fayemi made a surprise withdrawal from the presidential primary of the APC, and declared support for  Tinubu, and has since been working  to ensure his victory at the 2023 presidential poll.

Responding, Dr. Fayemi assured his visitors that he was ready to be at the forefront of campaigns to ensure victory for the candidates of his party in the 2023 general election.

Dr. Fayemi, who made history as the first governor to handover to a successor in Ekiti State, warned that Nigeria should not be allowed to fall into wrong hands.

“We should do everything possible to ensure the nation continues its journey along the path of stability, prosperity and greatness.

The former Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum continued: “As a progressive party, populated by resourceful and passionate patriots, we must ensure that no stone is left unturned to mobilize support for our presidential candidate, Tinubu, who is clearly the best among the pack of those seeking to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in office come May 2023.

“We have the wherewithal to run a successful campaign for our presidential and other candidates. The presidential election, in particular, is ours.”

Highpoint of the courtesy visit was the proclamation of the immediate past Ekiti State helmsman as an Emeritus Governor on account of his high-profile stewardship, and enviable record of service to the country.

The party publicists at the meeting included  Tunde Oladunjoye (Ogun), Segun Dipe (Ekiti), Alex Kalejaye (Ondo), Adunola Oyewole (Osun), Olawale Sadare (Oyo) while Seye Oladejo (Lagos) was unavoidably absent.

Edo Moves Against Land Grabbers, As Residents Lose N1.5 Billion

Edo State Government has put in place measures to checkmate activities of touts, just as it announced that residents have lost over N1.5bn to land-grabbers in the state.

State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikare, said  in Benin City,

that the government has arrested six mischief makers who in the guise of a protest stormed the  state secretariat at Sapele Road, Benin City, armed with dangerous weapons and charms threatening the lives of workers and others at the complex.

The Commissioner explained that the land touts claimed they are from the Irhirhi axis where a new town is being developed, noting that the government will not relent in its commitment to rid the state of land-grabbers.

“Yesterday, we had some protesters who stormed the secretariat complex; they came in a rowdy manner threatening staff of the state government for doing their work and implementing government’s policies and programmes.

“We had a full day last week for victims of land grabbing, as we had a stakeholders’ meeting for victims to discuss with the government and we had a productive discussion.

“Land grabbers are fighting back and luckily for us, six people were arrested and they are already being prosecuted; they may have gone to Court or may be appearing in Court on Monday.

“Government policies must be obeyed. It’s what keeps the society different from the animal kingdom. What the government did was to retrieve its stolen properties as the government wants to create a new town in the area.

“The land grabbers have made over N1. 5 billion from their victims. Now, they are threatening the government and its staff, and come to the secretariat doing rituals in an attempt to threaten the peace of the state.

“We were really disappointed with the action of the so-called protesters who came threatening the lives of civil servants in the state and going to Block C where the Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development is sited. We will not tolerate such acts anymore.”

God Will Expose Those Behind Insecurity In Imo State – Uzodimma

0
Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State

Convinced that killings in Imo State are politically contrived, Governor Hope Uzodimma has said he is confident that God will expose all those behind insecurity in Imo in general, if the people remain fervent in their prayer.

The Governor also urged the Church to be steadfast in prayer as the instruments of war used by the enemies of the people to kill and destroy cannot be compared with the strength of God Almighty who protects His people in times of difficulties.

The  Governor spoke on Friday in his remarks at the Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri,  on the occasion of the second edition of the annual ‘Imo Prays’ as the Special Guest.

The event which first edition was organised last year by the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion has the theme, “At the name of Jesus,” for the 2022 edition.

Governor Uzodimma said he is to be contradicted that the insecurity in Imo State is politically contrived and prayed God to “arrest and expose all those involved in the dastardly act no matter who they are and where they are.”

The governor recalled that in the 2021 prayer session tagged “Imo Pray”, most of the hoodlums who burnt and released criminal inmates at the Owerri Correctional Centre, were arrested and hoped that “this year’s session will yield a better result.”

He said the Church is a partner in the search for solution to problems and challenges of the society, noting that as a body known for peace making, the children of God have always been used to establish peace in Imo State.

Governor Uzodimma, therefore, called on the Church not to relent in their prayers because the “enemies are not relenting either.”

His words: “Therefore as the enemies go about brandishing guns and ammunition, the children of God only have the Bible. This is because without the fervent prayers of the children of God the enemies would have overwhelmed the State.”

Governor Uzodimma emphasized that “prayer is the only potent weapon to overcome the enemies, the problems and challenges facing us as a people and the State in general,” adding that  “the relative peace Imo State is experiencing currently is brought about by God’s intervention.”

Furthermore, he explained that “no State or Nation or government can thrive, prosper and develop if it is in a state of war, be it internal war or external war and no responsible government will put hand in bloodletting.”

Governor Uzodimma cited example with what is happening in Somalia, Ethiopia and Yemen and the  attendant human misery brought about by the war in Russia and Ukraine, and how development in those areas have been arrested by wars and insecurity.

However, he acknowledged that the development today in Imo State is gradually picking up because the State is relatively coming back to normal.  “And this has enabled the State to embark on many infrastructural developments, and is working hard to recover the years the locust had eaten.”

The Governor called attention of the brethren to the fact that Government has spent a lot of money looking for peace and imagined what would have happened if the monies of the State were all channeled or deployed to development and other sectors of the economy.

He said: ‘’The Insecurity in Imo State and I can be quoted, is politically motivated,” and prayed that, “Almighty God will not only expose those people, but will arrest them wherever they are and whoever they are.”

The Governor also used the opportunity to once more appeal to those giving Imo people sleepless nights to consider the interest of the innocent citizens and stop their nefarious activities.

He then thanked the leadership of the Anglican Church,  on behalf  of the Imo State government, for the initiative of gathering the people of God to pray for the peace of the State and urged other faiths to emulate them.

The prayer session had in attendance all the Bishops serving under the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province of the Anglican Church headed by Most Rev (Dr.) David Onuoha who is also the Bishop of Okigwe South Diocese.

Prayers were offered for Nigeria, Imo State, Family among others, in line with the theme the Bible reading drawn from Philippian Chapter 2:10.

The high point of the session was a prayer for Governor Uzodimma by all the people in attendance, for God’s wisdom to deal with the huge challenges that come with governance.

Ignore Uzodimma At Your Own Peril, Tinubu Tells South East Leaders

0
Bola Tinubu and Hope Uzodimma

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has told South East business and political leaders to ignore Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State at their own peril based on the latter’s visionary leadership and wisdom.

Tinubu spoke in Owerri onThursday at a town hall meeting with South East private sector drivers that included manufacturers, investors, traders, entrepreneurs, artisans, among others, as well as some political leaders drawn from the APC.

Apparently surprised  at the calibre of personalities drawn from the business community in South East who filled the expansive hall of Landmark Event Centre in Owerri, Tinubu could not hold back his feelings of Governor Uzodimma as a leader with the capacity to galvanise and organise human resources to achieve result.

He expressed delight in what he saw in Owerri and therefore called on Nigerians to join hands with him and the APC to bring prosperity and renewed hope to the country by massively casting their ballot for his Party.

Tinubu called on all people of goodwill to “vote for progress and to be part of the nation’s golden future and never to allow those who put the country backwards in 16 years to come back again.”

The APC Presidential candidate who asked all to align themselves for the best hope that will be best for the South East region and all the regions of the nation, noted that “knowledge drives the economy and the economy moves the government to success and development.”

He assured his audience that he has come to deliver on good governance in Nigeria.

He challenged his audience to take the courageous steps, believing that they can do it as what is required is a change of mindset and determination.

Tinubu emphasized that Nigerians have the resources and the capacity to move forward as against incessant lamentation.

The former Governor of Lagos State told  the South East business and political leaders alike that he can guarantee that his government at the centre will comprise people across the country, “who will come together to discuss the grievances of the country and how to overcome them.”

Tinubu reiterated that he and his team are “coming to serve the people and not to be their boss,” that he has “brought progressive governance and forward-looking government and not the type that will take Nigerians backwards.”

He noted that the host Governor,  Uzodimma, is “an encouragement to the Party which stands for the renewal of hope for the Party.”

Tinubu encouraged the business community to continue to support him because when he assumes office he will create an enabling environment that will make their businesses more prosperous.

“We will develop a code that when activated will make their goods and services easy on the roads of Nigeria.”

Furthermore, he promised “to work with the Progressive Governors of APC to walk the road of Renewed Hope.”

Tinubu assured his audience that he will “establish Industrial Hubs throughout the nation and encourage productions in Owerri and Aba and open up opportunity to bring international commerce in all the regions of Nigeria.”

For example, he added that the Ports that will connect the railway lines of Port Harcourt to other business corridors will be more lucrative.

In rounding off, Asiwaju said he has come to “change the dynamics of the inefficiencies that have been affecting the potentials of industrial growth and availability of electricity and industrialization in Nigeria,” even as he said under his watch, religion will remain a  personal decision of Nigerians.

In his welcome remarks, the Governor Uzodimma who is also the APC Campaign Coordinator for South East said the reason for the town hall meeting was for members of the public consisting of investors, entrepreneurs, small and medium scale income earners among others, to interrogate some of the challenges and issues they have been facing in their businesses, such that provisions would be made in the APC candidate’s manifesto.

He described the town hall meeting as a brilliant opportunity and an idea bought by the Presidential Candidate of APC “who ordinarily could have sat at his comfort zone and send probably hired Consultants to come to the South East and find out what their problems are.”

Uzodimma said: “But in his wisdom, he decided to come himself to meet with Imolites and the South East in general to know what the issues are and present his manifesto and what he intends to do for them and at the same time, listen to them, collect whatever they have said as their challenges and include them in his programmes and policies for his government come 2023 as President of Nigeria.”

He expressed his happiness and thanked the people of South East, the private  sector drivers and members of APC in particular for coming out en mass to listen to their Presidential candidate.

The Governor seized the opportunity to thank Tinubu and he assured him that “having listened to the presentation in Lagos and having gone through the manifesto without much ado,” he is “certain and sure that the presidential candidate will no doubt capture what the issues and problems of Nigerians are.”

Governor Uzodimma expressed confidence that Tinubu as President will be ready to go the work, emphasizing that “the town hall meeting initiative is timely and very reassuring.”,

The Governor said: “It is indeed a very good opportunity for all the entrepreneurs, the Nigerian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Traders Association and even to Middle and Low Income ones,  to listen attentively, make their inputs and get assured replies.

“Imo is APC compliance and I enjoin all to come together and support the Party. The APC Presidential candidate is like driver that is properly licensed. With him  there won’t be accident.”

Addressing the audience,  the National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu said he came as a witness to what the stakeholders meeting of businessmen and women with their Presidential candidate in the South East will do with the interface.

He described the meeting as “strategic one because it is organized for a unique people the business group who are the major drivers of the nation’s economy.”

Adamu acknowledged that “the APC has a manifesto that serves as a compass” and acknowledged that “one can’t talk business in Nigeria without mention of South East,” noting that “the people of South East are hardworking people who live by the sweat.”

In his remarks, the Director General the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong said the APC meeting “provides a very unique opportunity for the presidential candidate of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima, to further break down the content of the manifesto for the New Hope  Renewed.”

He expressed happiness that members of the private sector, traders associations, etc came out in their numbers to engage the Presidential candidate, insisting that “the meeting provides the platform for the business class to put across their ideas for a better Nigeria of tomorrow.”

He reminded the audience that the private sector plays a very important role for the economy of a nation and serves as the largest employers of labour and job creation mechanism.

He therefore charged members of the private sector to seize the rare opportunity and table their challenges and demands as well as listen to the presentations of the presidential candidate.

Lalong thanked Governor Uzodimma for hosting the meeting on behalf of the entire South East APC and wished all a successful outing.

In his goodwill message, the Governor of Ebonyi State  Engr. Dave Umahi challenged Tinubu to use his office as president to correct the anomaly of “why since after the war in 1970 the South East has not been able to occupy certain positions,” as well as “addressing the issues constraining the businesses of the people of South East in Nigeria.”

Umahi concluded that the Governors of APC in the South East have great confidence inTinubu and that “Nigeria needs a businessman that will transform the economy of Nigeria to lead them.”

Presenting their unique problems, the Coordinator of the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMSEs), Barr. Emeka Mgbudem said going through the Manifesto the business communities have a lot of future in the government of Tinubu.

He however, on behalf of his business colleagues, made a humble request that Tinubu, on assuming office, should help to dismantle the several checkpoints in the South East, help to restore good roads, electricity and access to the seaport that will guarantee ease of doing business.

He noted that “when this is achieved, the businessmen and women, especially South East  will actualize their potentials to the fullest.”

In their different messages, the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, Chairman, Imo State Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Divine Eches Divine, the former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke and the Majority Whip in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejiocha, all expressed their profound support to the Presidential Candidate of APC and assured Tinubu that they didn’t make mistake in choosing him as their candidate for the elections in 2023.

Onyejiocha in particular said that Tinubu has already assured women of 50 per cent participation in his government and promised that Nigerian women have already taken the campaign to the grassroot and have accordingly procured their PVCs to vote for him.

Babachir Lawal: EFCC May Appeal Judgement

0

By Adesina Soyooye

A source within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says the Commission is likely to appeal the judgement, delivered on Friday which discharged and acquitted former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal.

Lawal  was discharged and acquitted Friday by a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory FCT,  from a N544M contract fraud.

He was being prosecuted by the EFCC. The Commission brought a 10-count charge against Lawal.

But the Judge said the EFCC could not establish a  prima facie case against the former SGF.

Agbaza held that EFCC said that no ingredients of any offence was made out by the 11 witnesses that testified for the EFCC.

The  EFCC, Agbaza held, did not establish that Babachir Lawal was a member of the Presidential Initiative for North East PINE which awarded the contract or a member of the Ministerial Tenders Board which vetted  the contract and gave approval.

In sum, Agbaza said the  EFCC  failed to link Babachir Lawal with Bureau of Public Procurement BPP that issued a certificate of no objection to the contract before it was awarded.

He, therefore, discharged and acquitted Lawal on all the charges.

Lawal was charged with his younger brother, Hamidu Lawal; Suleiman Abubakar; Apeh Monday and two companies, Rholavision Engineering Limited and Josmon Technologies Limited.

They 10-count  bordered on fraud relating to the cutting of evasive plant species to the tune of N544 million. They pleaded not guilty.

But an unconfirmed source within the EFCC told this medium that the Commission is uncomfortable with the Court’s judgment and would appeal it to a higher Court.

The EFCC had, on Monday, November 30, 2020 re-arraigned  Lawal before Justice Agbaza.

One of the charges for which Lawal was prosecuted  read: “That you, Engineer Babachir David Lawal, while being the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and a director of Rholavision Engineering Ltd on or about the 22nd August 2016 at Abuja, in the Abuja Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did knowingly hold indirectly private interest in the contract awarded to Josmon Technological Ltd but executed by Rholavision Engineering Ltd for the removal of invasive plant species and simplified irrigation to the tune of N258,132,735.99 (Two Hundred and Fifty-eight Million, One hundred and Thirty-two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty-five Naira, Ninety-nine kobo) only, by the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) though the Presidential Initiative for North East (PINE) and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 12 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.”

Lawal, an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain is currently at loggerheads with the the Party over its same-faith  Presidential ticket.

Award Of Excellence On Fiscal Transparency And Accountability, Gov Akeredolu Says It’s Result Of Developmental Efforts

0

By Ayodele Oni

Ondo State Governor, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has attributed recent ranking of the state as having the lowest poverty level to a result of deliberate developmental efforts of his administration.

The Federal Government had on Thursday announced that Ondo State has the lowest poverty level in the country with 27 percent.

The figure was presented during the launch of Nigeria’s Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) Survey in Abuja.

The survey was conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).

According to the report, the measure used to calculate the figure was based on Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) with five components of health, living standard, education, security and unemployment.

The survey, which revealed that 63 percent of persons within Nigeria, 133 million, are living in poverty, identified Sokoto State as having the highest poverty level among the states in the country with 91 percent while Ondo has the lowest with 27 percent.

This is even as the state also received an Award of Excellence on the World Bank’s States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) for being a very good performer on Fiscal Transparency and Accountability.

The award was received in Abuja at an event tagged, “Federal Government of Nigeria/World Bank States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) recognition dinner with Governors/Awards Night.”

Reacting to the development, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, said his administration has continued to prioritize the need to lift the people of the state out of poverty.

He noted that his administration’s programmes and policies are tailored towards addressing the needs of the people and providing succor for even generations unborn.

“It is clear from the measure used to calculate the figure which was based on Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) with five components of health, living standard, education, security and unemployment.

“The Governor Akeredolu administration has continued to record giant strides in all these areas, thereby reducing poverty levels in the state and promoting more economic activities.

“On health, this administration inherited two Mother and Child hospitals in Akure and Ondo town which services had already been suspended on account of backlog of debts incurred on consumables, most significantly on drugs.

“Governor Akeredolu revived services at these facilities and expanded the mother and child hospitals from just two to seven across the three senatorial districts of the state.

“Similarly, On the 6th of February, 2018, Governor Akeredolu signed into Law the  bill establishing the Ondo State Contributory Health Commission (ODCHC) and the Ondo State Contributory Health Scheme (ODCHS).

“The ODCHC has a five bespoke health insurance products for all strata of the teeming population of Ondo state under the ODCHS cover, including the Abiyamo Maternal & Child Health Insurance Scheme (AMCHIS).

“The Abiyamo Maternal & Child Health Insurance Scheme (AMCHIS) is a State Equity Scheme for two sets of Vulnerables – Pregnant women and Under-5 children. This program is fully funded by the State Government.

“Governor Akeredolu launched this scheme on the 3rd of December, 2019. Since the inception of the scheme, it has made provision of maternal and child care free and sustainable.

“It gives access to Antenatal care, delivery (including Caesarean section), post-natal care for the mother (up to 6 weeks after delivery), neonatal care (first 30 days of baby’s life) and treatment of common illnesses in children till they attain the age of five years. Beneficiaries do not pay for services.

“The pre-qualification criterion to enjoy this scheme is the Kaadi Igbeayo (Ondo State Residency Card), which is issued to residents of Ondo State by the State Information Technology Agency (SITA). Governor Akeredolu has also ensured that the card is issued at NO COST to pregnant women willing to become AMCHIS beneficiaries.

“It should also be known that the premium for AMCHIS is solely paid by the Ondo State Government and there is a state budgetary line yearly to this effect. Till date, AMCHIS has recorded over 22,500 beneficiaries (pregnant women and children below five years of age).

“Since this scheme was launched on the 3rd of December, 2019, a total number of 24,678 including Pregnant Women and Children under 5 have benefited till date. At the Mother and Child Hospital, Akure alone, over 4,842 total number of Pregnant Women have accessed Ante-Natal Care till date with 3,432 total deliveries.

“As we speak, there is an ongoing construction of a modern world-class 250-bed University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital complexes in Akure and Ondo town respectively. This is aside the regular provision of medical equipment at the teaching hospital and Mother and Child hospitals.

“On Education, Governor Akeredolu has reconstructed over 800 public primary schools in the state with perimeter fence and modern equipment. This has increased enrollment in the public schools and encouraged parents and guardians to send their children or wards to schools with ease.

“The adequate security in the state has continued to attract investors. The hospitality business is growing in Akure, the state capital, and other parts of the state.

“Over the last five years, Governor Akeredolu has regularly equipped the police, Army, Navy, Civil Defence, the DSS and other security agencies in the state.

“The establishment of the Amotekun corps has reinforced confidence among our people. The usual fear that accompanied inter-state trading and other economic activities within the state has been eroded by the galant efforts of Amotekun corps. Ondo is safe for business.

“In Ore, the Ondo-Linyi industrial hub which has also continued to provide jobs and oil the state’s economy is another giant leap taken by the Governor Akeredolu administration.

“Today, there are over eight companies including textile industry, MDF factory, HDF factory, cassava to ethanol pant, Truck assembly plant, and other investments at the industrial hub.

“The Ondo State Government in partnership with the Linyi  Municipal in China made this happened. Many indigenes and dweller of the state are employed into these industries and many more. Just as the growing hospitality industry in the state are providing jobs for the unemployed.

“Unlike before when investors drove for hours to come to Ondo State, there are three major airlines that fly Lagos-Akure-Abuja route. Undoubtedly, these have promoted investment opportunities, driven provision of employment and promote economic activities in the Sunshine State.

“At the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service where Governor Akeredolu built the first of its kind Revenue House, over 500 young graduates have been employed.

“This is aside the recruitment of over one thousand teachers, over 425 health workers including Consultants, Nursing officers, Staff Nurses/Midwives, Medial doctors, Pharmacists, Radiographers among others.

“Also, the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has recruited 804 health personnel. The UNIMEDTH wasn’t left out.

“Over 400 medical personnel have so far been recruited. At the Mother and Child hospital in Akure, there are 434 health workers presently working at the facility.”

“Lastly, the infrastructural development in the state is massive. Over 274.11km of roads have been completed across the 18 Local Government Areas of the State while 120km are ongoing.”

Labour Party Targeting Outright Win In All States

0

The  Obi-Datti Media Office says its  attention has been drawn to what it described as a clearly unsubstantiated view of a former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose that he does not see Labour Party winning 25% in 24 States of the federation.

In a statement, it said Fayose is ignorant of the happenings around him and in the country, politically.

The statement reads:

“Ordinarily, we would not have bordered to react to such subjective view not supported empirically but we feel such view is capable of sending the wrong message to the public if unexplained.

“LP presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and his Running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmad are not targeting 24 states for victory but the entire country meaning the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“We are well aware that making 25% of the votes cast  in 24 states is the minimum requirement to win the Presidency, but LP is looking at the entire country since it’s flag bearer is a national person to be limited to any region.

“Ex-Governor Fayose is certainly living in the past by refusing to capture the political mood of the country which is beyond geopolitical, ethnic, regional, state and my turn interests.

“Nigerian youths who are driving the Obidient Movement are spread and active in every state of the federation and their target is overwhelming and outright victory across board.

“It’s possible that Mr. Fayose and his like are relying on the old order not knowing that the Take-back-Nigeria project is actually meant to dismantle and decimate the old order and install a new vibrant and progressive system.

“Mr. Fayose possibly due to political reason did not want to factor in the opinion polls conducted scientifically and professionally by three professional bodies, ANAP Foundation, Bloomberg and the Arewa Trust foundation all giving  victory at the poll to LP’s Peter Obi.

“Since these scientifically proved polls were conducted few months ago, Peter Obi and his Obidient Movement have had their profiles ascending not declining meaning that  victory in 2023 by Labour Party is being more enhanced.

“Finally, for purposes of emphasis, every indicator  ahead of 2023 is showing clearly that Labour Party candidate is cruising to victory because his messages have sank with the people and has made the people’s decision to take back the country unanimous, total and unflinching.

“The train has left the station and we expect progressive minds like Fayose to join.
