Edo APC Flays Scrapping Of Observer Newspaper By Governor Obaseki

The administrative style of Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has again come under scrutiny by the All Progressive Congress (APC) who flayed the Governor’s scrapping of almost 20 year’s old state owned Observer Newspaper.

APC explained that the newspaper, which is one of the assets from old Bendel State, has been closed down under the pretext of reorganization.

A statement on Thursday by assistant publicity secretary of APC in the state, Ofure Osehobo noted that “APC Edo State chapter believes that Governor Godwin Obaseki was being economical with the truth, when in June 2022, he closed down the Nigerian Observer and promised to reopen it in a month after restructuring it.

“Edo people thought the clandestine move was part of a reform process.

“The party can recall that in a statement, the Secretary to his  government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie Esq, said, “The Edo State Government, in line with the reforms of the state-owned media organisations, has directed the closure of the Nigerian Observer newspaper for a period of one month, for re-organisation and re-launch of the media outfit.

He said, ‘All existing staff of the Nigerian Observer are hereby redeployed to the Ministry of Communication and Orientation, with immediate effect, where they will receive further directives on their new responsibilities’.

“According to the Secretary to the State government, ‘Members of the reading public and lovers of the Nigerian Observer brand are assured that their darling newspaper titles will return to the stands shortly better and improved.’

“But contrary to these promises, the factional PDP Government led by Mr Godwin Obaseki has since demolished vital sections of the premises of the newspaper at 24 Airport Road, Benin City, installed a ‘N5-billion’ printing press, redeployed all the workers to MDAs and created a newspaper called ECHO to replace the Nigerian Observer.

“The Nigerian Observer was set up in 1968 by Late Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, as Administrator of then Midwest region.

“It was one of the assets, Edo inherited in 1991. The medium’s desecration by Governor Godwin Obaseki is not a surprise.

“This is the situation Edo state government has found itself with a governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki demolishing the legacy Edo newspaper, the pride of Edo state and turning it to an online newspaper, with an editor who is also a staff of the Ministry of Youth and Gender.

“The old Nigeria Observer printing press was auctioned, while a fairly press proposed to print ECHO, the new name Obaseki has given the Nigerian Observer with some of his cronies as staffers has failed to print one sheet of paper since it was imported from Germany in 2020.

“Twice the manufacturers have been guests of the government for millions of Naira, to repair it to no avail.

“Yet Edo state government has employed 14 man staff for the Echo and signed an MOU with some unknown media firm for the purpose of daily printing and circulation of the medium on a PPP basis.

“As a party, we see the action of the governor in saying one thing and doing the opposite as one which is in tandem with his 2020 manifesto called, Make Edo Grounded Again, MEGA.

“The goal is ensuring a defined template for underdevelopment in Edo state. It is with all the modalities for an unending underdevelopment plan, designed to paralyse government tools, guidelines and milestones so that his successors find future development planning an ordeal. We condemn the plot as it is bound to fail.”

NDDC: Group Vows To Resist Plot To Appoint Interim Administrator;  Says Peaceful Coexistence In Niger Delta Threatened

By Akinwale Kasali

There is palpable tension in the Niger Delta Region over plot by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana to appoint an interim administrator to oversee the affairs of the Niger Delta Commission, NDDC.

Recently, the Management of the NDDC were at loggerheads with Minister over the leadership and who controls the affairs of the NDDC as regards the forensic auditing of the account of the NDDC by the Niger Delta Ministry.

The allege plan of the minister to appoint an interim administrator has therefore put him on the spot, and in confrontation with the people of Nigeria’s oil bearing region.

A Group, Centre for Fairness and Accountability, CEFA, has revealed that the Minister’s plot to appoint an interim administrator for the interventionist agency is being spearhead in conjunction with enemies of the region to undermine the relative peaceful coexistence currently enjoyed in the Niger Delta.

In a statement signed by CEFA Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ebitimi Fubara, it states that, ‘We have it on good authority that there are plans orchestrated by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs alongside with enemies of the region to appoint yet another Interim Administration to oversee the NDDC; a move which will re-awake hostility in the region and destroy the efforts of Mr President at ensuring peace in the Niger Delta region.

“We are aware that the evil plot is to project the appointment of a Director in NDDC as Sole Administrator so that he can be at the beck and call of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Umana Okon Umana. This will not work!

“We are also not oblivious of the constant interference of the Minister with the day to day running of the NDDC. How he imposes on the MD his list of preferred contractors for payment is no longer news.

“This is despite a subsisting order of court restraining the Minister, Mr Okon Umana Okon from this mindless show of administrative recklessness, unfairness and daylight wickedness.”

Fubara stressed that elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark had earlier warned that appointment of another interim administration will be vehemently resisted and make the region ungovernable.

He demanded for a substantive board to be appointed for the NDDC, calling on the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, Abubakar Malami, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Silva and Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, to quickly wade into the issue.

“We wonder why it seems to be taking eternity to constitute a board for the NDDC considering the fact that it has been without one since the inception of this administration which is against the NDDC Act.

“We strongly call on the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami who is the Chief Law Officer of the Federation, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege CFR; the Minister of State for Petroleum, H.E. Chief Timipre Silva and other stakeholders to quickly intervene before this issue snowballs into a messy one.

“We therefore urge Mr President to constitute a substantive board to govern the NDDC, because a stitch in time saves nine”, the statement said.

Termite Party: PDP Demands Apology From Tinubu; Says He Is Not Qualified To Run For President

Bola Tinubu
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Stung by its description as a Termite Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, has bared its fangs on the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu had, while inaugurating the Women’s Presidential Campaign Team of the APC in Abuja on Tuesday, dismissed the PDP as a Termite Party.

However, in a strongly-worded response signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP demanded an apology to NIgerians from Tinubu.

It said that Tinubu’s problem is that he is dazed by the popularity and wide acceptance of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP  Presidential candidate.

To worsen it, the PDP said, Tinubu should shut-up because he is ineligible to contest for the office of the President. Said the PDP, “Our Party cautions Asiwaju Tinubu to advice himself, guard his utterances, face his many legitimacy and disqualification issues and stop making himself an object of public ridicule.”

Following the full text of the response.

* You’re Dazed by Atiku Abubakar’s Popularity-PDP Replies Tinubu*

… Insists APC Presidential Candidate Not Eligible to Contest Election

“Nigerians were again appalled and sickened by the lack of depth being exhibited by the embattled Presidential Candidate of the tottering All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as reflected in his recent utterances against other political parties.

“While Asiwaju Tinubu has proven to Nigerians that he is incapable of serious Presidential discourse, it is nevertheless disgraceful that the APC Presidential Candidate, who is facing multiple legitimacy and disqualification issues, is displaying such vacuity in the public domain.

“For emphasis, the PDP is a serious political Party campaigning on issues and we have refrained from commenting on the many personal, health, academic, ancestry and corruption issues challenging the APC Presidential Candidate.

“Apparently, dazed by the resounding presentation of the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar at the hugely successful flag-off of our Presidential Campaign in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, on Monday, October 10, 2022, Asiwaju Tinubu has become disoriented to the extent that he can no longer articulate or engage in any productive and focused political discourse.

“If there is any Party that can be described as a “termite party” of course it will not be the PDP which is fully “ARTICULATED” and soaring with its campaign but the doomed APC that is crawling, having become legally crippled and no longer a legitimate and valid vehicle to field candidates in the 2023 general elections.

“This explains why the APC cannot constitute a Presidential Campaign Council, let alone flagging off its campaign.

“Though the APC Presidential Candidate has demeaned himself before Nigerians, the PDP as a decorous Party will still refrain from commenting on the issues of his personal health and alleged unwholesome addictions for which he has become a butt of public joke.

“Since he procured the APC ticket, the APC Presidential Candidate has not made any meaningful comment or contribution to serious national issues, instead he has been engaging in illogical, incoherent and fatuous utterances.

“Our Party cautions Asiwaju Tinubu to advice himself, guard his utterances, face his many legitimacy and disqualification issues and stop making himself an object of public ridicule.

“What is expected of Asiwaju is to apologize to the nation for the woes and suffering brought upon Nigerians by the misrule of the APC which he helped to install and for which Nigerians hold him personally responsible.

“The APC Presidential Candidate should come to terms with the fact that Nigerians have moved on with the PDP and Atiku Abubakar as their next President given Atiku Abubakar’s established focus, integrity, experience, capacity and readiness to lead the mission to Rescue and Rebuild Nigeria from the monumental failures and misery that the APC represents.”

Polaris Bank: Reps Investigate CBN’s Sale Of Bridge Bank

Godwin Emefiele
The Central Bank of Nigeria must put on hold it’s proposed sale of Polaris Bank, the House of Representatives, has ordered.
The directive came following reports that the Godwin Emefiele- led CBN was trying to sell the bridge bank for a paltry N40 billion.
The apex bank has already spent over N1.2 trillion to revitalize the bank after it transformed from the defunct Skye Bank.
The Polaris Bank has denied report that it has been put up for sale.
Last week, rights activist, Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN threatened to go to court if the CBN failed to release details of it’s proposed sale of the Innocent C. Ike-led Polaris Bank.
Ruling on the matter on Wednesday, following the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Henry Nwabuba, a lawmaker from Imo, the House of Representatives said the CBN must not go ahead with the sale.
The planned sale of the bank should be put on hold until the CBN, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, all the required procedures, the Reps said.
Leading the debate, Nwabuba said the CBN should ensure that the transaction is handled transparently.
He said so much has been invested in the bank to build confidence in the banking public after it inherited the assets and liabilities of Skye Bank, adding that the sale must be done in public interest.
According to him, “Given the need to ensure that the divestment in the bank does not jeopardise the core reason for the CBN intervention in the bank in the overall public interest, the divestment should be done most transparently following the required due process.
“This is necessary to avert public outcry and untoward reaction from critical stakeholders in the economy, foreign business partners banking community, depositors, correspondent banks — as it is also crucial to avoid the shortcomings of the previous similar exercise undertaken in the past.
“Polaris Bank is borne out of the bailout of the defunct Skye Bank PIc that failed due to poor corporate governance and non-performing loan for which a whooping sum of close to a trillion naira of public fund was committed to resuscitating the bank.
“The sale of the bank for a purported N40 billion amounts to just about four percent of public funds invested in the bank. The proposed sale is shrouded in secrecy and is opaque and requires that it is done with transparency and accountability to eliminate insinuations of corruption.
“The transited defunct Skye Bank was a systemically important bank with a large pool of employees, customers, and other stakeholders for which the failure of the bank, without a bailout, would have had a serious contagion effect on the economy and global perception/reputation.
“The resuscitation of the entity through the formation of Polaris Bank to acquire the assets and certain liabilities of the defunct Skye Bank was aimed at returning the value that will upset the public fund injected into the bank as capital, protect jobs and continue to contribute to the economic development of Nigeria.
“In addition, the brand equity and public confidence have been enhanced with the relative stability of the bank.”
The CBN had last week assured that the details about the proposed sale will be made public while responding to a letter written to the apex bañk by Falana demanding transparency.
Meanwhile, the House has set up.an ad hoc committee go “review the total outlay by the federal government of Nigeria in Polaris Bank and account for the entire financial input in the bank by the federal government of Nigeria.”
The committee has 21 days to submit its report.

Olajide Kareem

By Akinwale Kasali

After spending six years and eight months in prison custody, Olajide Kareem, popularly known as Seun Egbegbe has been freed by a Federal High court in Lagos.

Egbegbe was remanded on February 10, 2017, having allegedly defrauded and obtained  money by false pretence from no fewer than 40 Bureaus De Change operators in different parts of Lagos for over a period of two years, between 2015 to 2017.

He was accused of swindling the BDC operators by claiming that he had Naira to change into foreign currencies.

Out of the 40-count charges against him, Egbegbe was found guilty of only one count, count 19 and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

He was arraigned by the Police for alleged fraud involving N39m; $90,000 and £12,550, N39,098,100, respectively.

He allegedly stole Apple IPhones from a Store in Ikeja, where he was apprehended.

Egbegbe alongside one Oyekan Ayomide were first arraigned on February 10, 2017, before Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, on 36 counts bordering on advance fee fraud.

The duo was later joined by Lawal Kareem, Olalekan Yusuf and Muyideen Shoyombo on a 44 count charge.

However, on Tuesday, the court found Egbegbe guilty of just one of the 44 count charges against him and set him free.

Justice Oguntoyinbo held that 43 of the 44 count charges were crumbled because of lack of witnesses to substantiate their claims.

In addition, the judge held that the prosecuting team failed in the responsibility to provide evidence to be backed with witnesses on Counts 4, 19 and 21.

The judge also said that police tampered with the money recovered from the suspects.

Time was when Egbegbe was the rave of the moment in the Nigeria Movie Industry, especially in the Yoruba Genre as one of the leading Movie producers.

He owned Ebony Films Productions imprint, where he also managed Fuji artistes, Wale Ayinde, Tekoma and Pasuma.

He rose from obscurity to prominence in the industry as female actors in the industry wanted to have a relationship with him.

He once dated popular Nollywood Actress, Toyin Abraham for several years before he was remanded in Prison and the relationship went sour.

NNPC Officials Should Have Resigned For Incompetence – Peter Obi; Worried Over Stolen N109b linked To Accountant

0
Peter Obi

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has declared that Corruption in Nigeria is a big Elephant in the Room that must be exited for the house to be properly deployed.

Obi said that is exactly what he plans to do if elected Nigeria President, as he intends to take corruption headlong.

Speaking at the 52nd Annual Accountants ICAN Conference in Abuja on Wednesday on the theme ‘Accounting as a requisite for Sustainable Governance’, Obi said “It is no secret that corruption has been endemic and one of the biggest obstacles to our economic progress in Nigeria. Corruption is the big elephant in the room.

“In the past few days we have seen videos of illegal pipelines connected to national oil pipeline networks, running for kilometers where billions of dollars that should have been used for development and welfare, have been illegally siphoned away, for up to nine years , according to reports .

“What I first expected was that the hierarchy of our top oil management bureaucracy will immediately resign, because without mincing words, this is irrefutable evidence of their incompetence, if not collaboration.  My administration, when we come in, will tackle this corruption head on. We will have zero tolerance for corruption.

Referring to the involvement of Accountants in Corruption in Nigeria  Obi said “If you look at the written financial regulations in any establishment, you will see watertight regulations of auditing, vetting, tendering, vouchering, joint signatories and other safeguards, designed to check embezzlement and corruption, yet these sharp practices and misappropriated sums continue to rise, and I understand that there is now a Nigerian record of almost N109 billion allegedly embezzled by an accountant.”

He then enjoined ICAN as a profession of honor to “increase the level of peer surveillance and internal discipline among your ranks , if we cannot properly account for our finances , the country is finished , let us as accountants, do more to check and stop corruption” Obi charged them.

The LP Candidate said that Accounting is in fact a requisite in ensuring sustainable governance and a stabilising factor in development as  Proper accounting serves as checks on the activities of the three arms of government as well as the three tiers of government.

Obi also spoke on the level of fiscal discipline he’s intends to bring into the system to block wastages and proper utilization of available resources.

On loans and borrowing Obi said “to ensure sustainability and resilience, we will stop borrowing for consumption.  All loans must be invested in regenerative projects. We shall pursue a drastic reduction in cost of governance and corruption; improve ease of doing business to attract Foreign Direct Investment to jumpstart industrialization and when borrowing is unavoidable, it will be strictly for production”

Ondo: Senator Demands Quick Dispensation Of Justice In Pre-election Matter

Nicholas Tofowomo

By Ayodele Oni

The Senator representing Ondo South senatorial district, Nicholas Tofowomo, is clamouring for quick dispensation of justice in a suit he instituted against a former deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi.

Tofowomo expressed worry over failure of the Federal High Court to deliver judgment in a pre-election case he filed at the Court in Akure.

Tofowomo had gone to court  seeking the disqualification of Agboola Ajayi as the 2023 Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the district.

The former deputy governor defeated the senator with 78 to 74 votes, at the last PDP senatorial primary in Okitipupa in May, 2022.

Dissatisfied with the outcome of the primary,  Tofowomo approached the court to challenge the academic qualifications of the PDP senatorial candidate.

Apart from Ajayi, who is the first defendant, the PDP and the INEC were also joined as the second and third defendants respectively in the suit number, FHC/CS/AK/ 83 /2022 and filed on Tuesday July 5, 2022, by the plaintiff’s lawyer, Mr Femi Emodamori.

he Senator claimed that Ajayi did not meet the constitutional requirements for contesting the 2023 general election as contained in the interpretation and application of Section 66(1)(i) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and Section 29(5) & (6) of the Electoral Act, 2022 as well as other relevant laws.

The Court  had concluded hearing in the case and parties adopted their written addresses for judgment since August, 2022.

In a reminder letter dated 12th October, 2022 and addressed to the Station Registrar of the Federal High Court, Akure Judicial Division, the Senator’s Lawyer, Mr Femi Emodamori,  said the court had not communicated parties for judgment date despite the fact that it has till 19th of this month under the Constitution to deliver its verdict.

“The Suit is a Pre-Election matter relating to the candidacy of the People’s Democratic Party for Ondo South Senatorial District.

“It was commenced by Originating Summons, and parties adopted their respective written addresses at the hearing of the case on 19th July, 2022, after his Lordship, Hon. Justice R. M Aikawa tentatively adjourned the case till 30th August, 2022 for judgment.

“However, up until now, no date has been communicated to the parties for the judgment. By virtue of Section 294 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), every court is expected to deliver its judgment in writing not later than ninety days after the conclusion of evidence and final addresses by the parties.

“The ninety days period in the instant case would expire on or about 19th October, 2022.

“Apart from the above constitutional provision and the understandably huge public interest in the case, it is most desirable for all the parties to know the outcome of the case promptly, for them to effectively prepare and execute their political campaign plans for the Ondo South Senatorial District.

“Consequently, we hereby respectfully request that you kindly bring this letter to the attention of his Noble Lordship, Hon. Justice R.M Aikawa, for necessary action.”

Creation Of New Town In Ekiti: Fayemi  Bluffs Protests, Presents Staff Of Office To Monarch

Oba Jacob Adelowo.

By Ayodele Oni

Ekiti state government, disregarded protests over creation of a new town, Ahun from the present Efon Alaaye community, went ahead to present staff of office to the first monarch of the new town, Oba Jacob Adelowo.

Following rise in tension in the area, the ceremony was shifted to the office of the Governor in Ado Ekiti with few invited guests allowed in.

The first Alahun of Ahun received the Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office from the State Government at the ceremony in Ado.

This is coming just as a Group, Development League, called for caution over the creation of a new Ahun from Efom Alaaye.

Governor Fayemi said his administration in the last four years  presented staff of office to 27 Coronated Oba across the state.

The presentation of the 27th Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office was done by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi on behalf of Mr Governor.

Governor Fayemi in his address congratulated the first Alahun of Ahun Ekiti, Oba Jacob Adelowo for ascending the throne.

He noted that granting autonomy to a community was not an attempt to fractionalize or disintegrate a compact community for any ulterior motive or political gains, but a response to genuine demands of the people who thought their deserved recognition would enhance development.

He charged him to rule with the fear of God, carry his Chiefs and other indigenes along in his decision making and as well live harmoniously with the people of the neighboring town, Efon Alaaye Ekiti.

The Executive Secretary, Bureau of Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Adegboyega Morakinyo said Ahun Ekiti was granted autonomy in September in accordance with section 6A of Ekiti State, Chiefs law.

The new Alahun, Oba Jacob Adelowo in his acceptance speech could not hide his joy as he thanked the State Government for granting his community autonomy and accorded him as the custodian after about 14years of agitation.

Oba Adelowo promised that a summit of all sons and daughters of the town would be called to channel rapid socio economic development in the town.

The Efon Devopment League, in a statement stated that “it received with the rudest shock what obviously looks Iike a rumour for lack of any political value: the purported recognition of an “Ahun Ekiti” from the ancient EFON-ALAAYE community.

“Our shock was aggravated further because the issue is subjudice as the matter is a part of the subjects of cases pending both at the State High Court in Ado-Ekiti and the Supreme Court of Nigeria vide suit SC/CV/1063/2021.

“The State Government had earlier in its white paper on the report of Justice Aladejana Committee noted that the case of Efon Alaaye  community Vs Ahun can not be treated because of court cases.

“It is therefore worrisome that a democratically elected government can in a twist contemptuously commit such an affront against the highest court in the land.

“This is nothing sort of pushing the people to self help and an instigation to violence five days to the exit of Governor Kayode Fayemi.

“We state without equivocation that we stand with Kabiyesi, the Alaaye of Efon-Alaaye, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Emmanuel Adesanya Aladejare, PhD., CON that Efon Alaaye is one indivisible and indissoluble entity with recorded history dated back to 11th century A.D.

“This position is the position of the League and all Efon Alaaye people and which we are prepared to defend.

“We call on the Ekiti State Government to take cognizance of the cases in courts and restrain itself on this matter in the interest of peace, as we shall continue to appeal for calm in the town to the best of our ability but without guarantee in the meantime.”

The statement was signed by Bode Fagbemiro, president; and  Afolabi Ige, Secretary.

ASUU Strike: Gani Adams Berates FG; Urges It To Initiate Model For Funding Education

By Akinwale Kasali

The Yoruba Generalissimo, Aare Onakakanfo Gani Adams, has berated the  Federal Government for its lackadaisical approach to the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. Adams said that FG’s insensitivity towards education is the cause of the crisis.

According to him,the failure of the FG in introducing a sustainable model for the funding of tertiary education in the country led to the over eight months strike that has seen undergraduates languishing at home with their future looking bleak.

He said the present approach by the FG has further drawn the education sector backward.

The Aare Onakakanfo made this remarks at the 2022 edition of Egbe Festival held in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

He said: “It is sad that Nigerian universities have been on strike for the past eight months.

“As far as I am concerned, I think it is time for the FG to introduce a more sustainable model of funding tertiary education.

“This would help in saving the FG the rigours of providing the resources required for funding tertiary education.

“The future of a country lies in the hands of the educated youths.

“It is a fact that if the Government fails to educate the youths and address their future yearnings would be consumed by the same problem it left unaddressed.”

The Yoruba generalissimo also spoke about Egbe Festival, noting that it has spiritual advantage for the host community.

Adams urged Traditional Rulers in Yorubaland to promote at least one festival in their respective communities, even as he stressed the need to promote peace and tranquility across the South West region.

He said: “Egbe has the spiritual potentials to bring both spiritual and physical blessings to the people of this community.

“I am appealing to all traditional rulers in Yorubaland to promote at least one festival in their respective communities.

“It goes a long way in solving all the problems confronting us as a race.”

By Akinwale Kasali

The Kano State University of Science and Technology at Wudil will soon be renamed after Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote. This follows the approval by the Kano State House of Assembly.

Reason for the renaming of the institution after Dangote is due to his immense contribution to education in the State and also his contribution to the development, growth and philanthropic gesture to the State and Nation at large.

Labaran Madari, the Majority Leader of the Assembly said that before now, a letter had been sent to the State Assembly by the Executive in May 2022, seeking for the approval of the House to change the name of the institution to Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.

After deliberation, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hamisu Chidari, and other lawmakers unanimously agreed to the renaming of the institution.

Muhammad Garba, the State Commissioner for Education had issued a statement on the approval of renaming the university by the State Government, after a recommendation, by the University’s  Visitation Panel, highlighting that it has been approved and transmitted to the State Assembly for proper legislative action.

The said institution was established as Kano University of Technology in 2001, but in 2005 the institution was renamed Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, in conformity with the gazette laws of the University.
