Atiku Has No Moral Rights To Criticize President Buhari’s Government – Lai Mohammed

Alhaji Lai Mohammed

By Ayodele Oni

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has cautioned some Presidential Candidates of opposition political parties about unguarded statement against the present administration.

The Minister, who spoke with  reference to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) maintained that he has no moral justification to condemn programmes of President Mohammadu Buhari led administration.

Alhaji Mohammed, who spoke in Abuja on Monday, was reacting to  remarks credited to the PDP candidate in Akure where he lashed out at the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the suffering of Nigerians.

The Minister spoke of Buhari’s achievements in the water sector, accused Atiku of trying to downplay what the Buhari Government had achieved.

“Let me use this opportunity to comment on the increasing tendency by some opposition presidential candidates to downplay the achievements of this administration, in their desperation for power, ahead of the 2023 elections.

“The worst offender in this regard has been the presidential candidate of the PDP, former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

“During his recent campaign in Akure, the former VP was quoted as saying the APC had not done anything for Nigeria in eight years.

“What a preposterous statement from somebody who should know. I guess we can excuse His Excellency the former Vice President who, until recently, had fully relocated to Dubai, thus losing touch with Nigeria.

“And if anyone would accuse the APC-led Federal Government of doing nothing, it should not be Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“Why? Because for the 16 years of the PDP rule, eight of which Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was Vice President, there was no motorable road to the former VP’s hometown and indeed to key local governments in the southern senatorial zone that served as Adamawa’s food basket and economic nerve centre until the government of President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office.

“Today, gentlemen, the Mayo Belwa-Jada-Ganye-Toungo Road has been constructed fully and it’s the road that Alhaji Atiku uses to get to his hometown of Jada.

“What about security? Before this administration came into office, all the five local government areas in Adamawa’s northern senatorial district were effectively under the control of the Boko Haram terrorists.

“All state institutions, the local government administration, the police, the judiciary, schools, hospitals and markets had been sacked.

“Traditional rulers, including emirs and chiefs, had been displaced with their palaces taken over by the terrorists as their headquarters.

“The affected five local governments in the northern senatorial zone are: Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South and Little Gombi. Atiku couldn’t go home.

“In the Central Senatorial zone, two local governments were effectively under the control of the Boko Haram terrorists: These two local governments in the Central Senatorial zone are: Maiha Local Government and Hong Local government.

“Today, not an inch of these local governments in Adamawa, the home-state of the former Vice President, is under the control of terrorists.

“All institutions of state have relocated back and are operational. All emirs and chiefs have returned to their palaces.

“Schools and markets have opened. Please note, gentlemen, that throughout that period, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could not even go home.

“As a matter of fact, when one of his right-hand men, Mr. Adila, was killed by the terrorists, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar could not even go to condole with the family of the deceased. It was that bad.

“Now that he can travel home freely, thanks to the Buhari administration, it is not sweet in his mouth to accuse the same Administration of doing nothing.

“As they say, the bedwetter should not join those who are insulting the washerman.”

New Banknotes: Falana Says CBN Acted Illegally

0

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, decision to redesign the Naira did not have the backing of the National Assembly, according to Femi Falana and as such may be declared illegal, Femi Falana has said.

Falana, a senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, said the CBN has broken the law, barely a few weeks after the apex monetary regulatory authority launched new N200, N500, and N1000 banknotes.

The CBN had last week unveiled the new notes even though it had earlier set December 15, for the takeoff. The apex bank said it had the full backing of President Buhari, who during the commissioning of the notes said they will curb crimes such as terrorism and money laundering.

But Falana said the CBN redesign policy is not legally adequate, noting that President Buhari was supposed to send a money bill to the National Assembly to that effect to seeks their approval.

He said in a statement on Sunday that the fund used in printing the new notes was not captured in the 2022 Budget, adding that the CBN has violated the constitution.

He said, “The official endorsement is not sufficient as the president is mandatorily required to present a money bill to the national assembly for the withdrawal of the billions of naira from public funds earmarked for the printing of the new naira notes.

“Specifically, section 59 of the constitution requires “an appropriation bill or supplementary bill including any other bill for the payment, issue or withdrawal from the Consolidated Revenue Fund or any other public fund of the Federation of any money charged thereon or any alteration in the amount of such payment, issue or withdrawal.

“Since the fund for the printing of the new naira notes is not captured in the 2022 appropriation bill, the president is advised to prepare and present a supplementary bill to the national assembly to authorize the withdrawal of public funds from any account of the federation for printing the new naira notes.

“Otherwise, the printing of the new naira without appropriation by the national assembly may be declared illegal and unconstitutional if it is challenged in a court of competent jurisdiction.”

The National Assembly had during a riotous session three weeks ago, said it will work with the CBN to achieve its aims for the new banknotes.

Opinion: A Season Of Interesting Disclosures

0
Nyesom Wike

By Ehi Braimah

It was Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, who stirred the hornet’s nest and kicked off the season of disclosures when he thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for approving long overdue payments to the nine oil-producing states in the Niger Delta. Wike confessed that he used the funds received for infrastructural development in his state.

Although Wike did not name or shame any of his colleagues or as much as reveal how much was paid to Rivers state from the 13 per cent derivation account, he had sent a clear message – perhaps deliberately – to other state governors to also admit that the federal government made payments outside the monthly allocation that were never disclosed.

As if Wike’s disclosure which caught his colleagues on their back foot was not enough, Clement Agba, the minister of state for budget and national planning, announced that state governors are responsible for the rising poverty in Nigeria. That was a direct attack. In doing so, he held the governors’ feet to the fire, giving them sleepless nights. It was another way of saying governors receive money but do not account for them.

According to the minister, governors prefer to prioritise the construction of bridges and airports in the cities instead of improving lives in rural communities. This is perhaps the reason for the rising debts incurred by states who borrow as if money is going out of fashion, yet you hardly see the evidence on the ground.

“Right now, 70 per cent of our people live in rural areas and they produce 90 per cent of what we eat. Unfortunately, 60 per cent of what they produce is lost and does not get to the market,” Agba declared when he briefed journalists after the federal executive council meeting (FEC) last week.

Without rural roads, farmers cannot get their products to the market; they suffer post-harvest losses. The governors are not taking the allegation lying low. In fact, they are fuming and ready to fire their loaded guns. They have pushed back vehemently, accusing the federal government of bad faith. In their own reckoning, the real culprit of rising poverty is President Buhari who failed to fulfill his campaign promises of 2019.

The scenario playing out over alleged misplaced priorities by state governors is coming against the backdrop of the hardship and poverty level explained by the National Bureau of Statistics’ (NBS) shocking data. Over 133 million Nigerians, NBS announced recently, live in poverty – that is 63 per cent of the nation’s population. To drive the point home, NBS said the rural poor cook with dung, wood or charcoal – meaning, no access to clean energy because of poverty – in what the agency described as “multidimensional poverty.”

It sounds like big grammar but never mind. In simple language, it means a majority of Nigerians cannot eke out a living – they are very poor and dying of hunger. What is the meaning of life without roads or functioning health centres? What you will find in most rural communities are dilapidated public schools and every area is enveloped with darkness at night. Clean water is only a pipe dream.

While the governors were expecting the furore generated by Wike’s disclosure and the minister’s allegation to die down, Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, announced that the nine oil-producing states received N625.43 billion from derivation, subsidy and SURE-P refunds, from the federation account in the last two years.

What do state governors do with the funds they receive from Abuja in addition to internally generated revenue? How can oil-rich Bayelsa state be ranked the second highest on the poverty scale after Sokoto state? Why do governors have a penchant for borrowing money to executive white elephant projects?

We need answers to these questions, not brickbats because people are hungry and angry. Their excellences have a duty to declare and account for not only derivation earnings but revenues from all sources.

Our governors are not happy because they have been called out but we cannot discount good governance and accountability anymore. If we truly want to build a better Nigeria, subnational governments actually have more work to do. All 36 governors should come clean and show more transparency in their spending habits.

We do not need the NBS or any minister to tell us there is abject poverty around us; even the blind can see the deteriorating quality of life in rural and urban areas. Why do our imperial governors refuse to disclose what their states earn and how their funds are spent? It is a matter of honour and integrity to do so.

The lifestyle and spending patterns of state governors do suggest in any way that our economy is in bad shape. In the midst of poverty, they display obscene wealth, hiring private jets at great cost even when they are unable to pay salaries and pensions. What is wrong in using a commercial aircraft?

From Uyo to Jos, just to cite two examples, over 45 private jets landed at the local airports for two presidential campaign rallies in a country that is broke. Who is fooling whom? Who hired those private jets? How much was paid?

It may be unfair to say all the governors are guilty as charged but let every governor go on national television and explain what had been done to alleviate grinding poverty. Are they even aware that more than 130 million Nigerians are daily struggling to survive?

The state houses of assembly have a constitutional responsibility to provide oversight functions and checkmate the excesses of the executive but it never happens. After losing their spines in exchange for cash and other gifts from their governors, lawmakers become lawbreakers.

Annual budget presentations are purely ceremonial events and spending is based on appropriation but governors always have their way, no matter what – even if it means breaking the ranks of the lawmakers. When the governor is desperate, principal officers – including the Speaker – can lose their positions. Such plots are heavily funded from the treasury.

This unwholesome practice has been with us since 1999. Governors work with heavily compromised lawmakers to shortchange and dispossess their people. They spend accumulated and misbegotten wealth on properties in places like South Africa, UAE, UK, and the USA.

Is there any governor who has served for four years, much less eight years, and is not a billionaire? Let him step forward and receive a medal of honour. Governors do not need long convoys; it is a bloody waste of scarce resources. What exactly do they spend security votes on? Some governors claim as much as N50 billion in eight years as security votes.

When it is time to have delegates for elections, governors ensure they also have their way so that their candidates emerge victorious, a tendency that breeds godfatherism. It does not matter whether the fight for relevance is for seats in the state or national assembly; governors always want to be in charge as they wave their “His Imperial Majesty” flag before us.

The outcome from our experience is usually two parallel primaries with two sets of candidates vying for the same seat in the same election. Governors have cheerleaders, die-hard supporters, and sympathisers who do their bidding to survive – it is always a matter of cash.

Is there anything new under the sun about how council elections are conducted? Well, you can be sure such elections are conducted only when their excellences want the exercise to hold.

State governors have also been put to task by President Buhari over how local government funds are diverted but some of them have come out to deny any wrongdoing.

All attempts to ensure that local councils are paid directly from the federation account have been rebuffed by governors for reasons best known to them. What has become clear is that local government executives are politicians who serve at the pleasure of their governors and they are happy to receive handouts which are also shared by councilors with nothing left to provide community service.

It should not be surprising that rural communities remain poor. Nigerians normally do not display any sense of outrage when things are not working; they prefer to remain silent. For me, it is a huge “cultural” problem which must be shaken off

When social services are not available, Nigerians don’t complain. No matter how bad a road is, travellers will use the road as it is or creates “alternative” roads and curse only under their breadths. Life goes on thereafter.

Most of the time, the focus is only on the federal government and we end up blaming blame the president and his ministers for every failure. But we forget that every state can become an oasis in the desert, an Eldorado – and why not? Governors can actually make a difference in their respective states but the lack of political will and selfish interests will not allow them to do the needful and act in the public interest.

I must admit that in the midst of the gloom surrounding us, some governors have indeed done well. They know themselves. Kudos to them. But for those with F9 grade, I leave them to their conscience.

Meanwhile, state governors must take up the challenge and explain regularly how they spend what they earn to the minutest detail. By the way, what is the incentive to pay tax when state governors and other public officers continue to make “hidden profits” at the expense of those whom they represent?

Uzodinma Assures Parties Of Equal Opportunity In Electioneering

0
Hope Uzodimma - Imo Civil Servant Promotion

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has promised all political parties of a level playing ground as far as campaigns towards the 2023 elections in the State are concerned.

However, he has also reminded the politicians and their parties that electioneering must be conducted within the ambits of the law.

The Governor made the promise, Sunday, December 4, 2022 while addressing the congregation at the end of Church Service at the Government House Chapel, Owerri.

While advising all political parties to go about their campaigns within legal stipulations, he assured those who want to conduct their rallies at Owerri to apply in writing to the Government for the particular facility and that approval would be given.

Governor Uzodimma identified the Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square for example, and assured that the facility will be available for any political party interested in using the place for campaign.

He emphasized: “All political parties, be it APC, PDP, LP, NNPP, and any other party, will have the opportunity to carry out their campaign in the same venue to avoid complaints of denial that follows such restrictions in the past. Such is the only way the Imo people will properly assess the parties’ preparedness, achievements and what they have for the people and make a well informed choice. Let them come and talk to the people about what they want to do and at the end of the day, the people will be in better position to make informed decision.”

The Governor cautioned those who still believe that by burning INEC facilities they are drawing democracy back in the country to desist from such and have a rethink.

“Democracy as defined had succeeded in other countries and should be allowed to succeed in Nigeria.”

He said it is politicians who know they are going to lose election that instigate the destruction of INEC facilities and other institutions of democracy.

Earlier, the Governor had reminded Imo people on the need to prepare for this year’s yuletide as God has been gracious to Imo State and the Government, particularly if we can spare a thought about “where we are coming from in terms of insecurity and where we are now.”

He, therefore, encouraged all to be in good stead and high spirit “because the worst times are over and the good days are here.”

Governor Uzodimma promised that between now and December 30,  the Shared Prosperity Government will do direct empowerment for 100,000 indigent Imo indigenes which will come in form of cash disbursements and materials, “so that the economy of the State will be stimulated once more.”

He acknowledged that “God in his infinite mercy has blessed the State to overcome most of her challenges, complete most of the ongoing projects and even conceive new ones,” adding that, “we need to thank him very much.”

He also urged members of APC and his supporters not to lose hope but “to continue to tarry and never be tired.”

Cleric Urges Governor Adeleke To Fulfill Promises To Osun People

Ademola Adeleke sworn in as Governor of Osun State

By Akinwale Kasali

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has been urged to fulfill his electoral promises to the people of Osun State.

The Diocesan Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Ijesa North, Osun State, His Lordship the Rt Reverend Isaac Oluiyamo, said that the Governor should prioritize payment of salaries and allowances of workers.

The Clergyman added that aside the Osun State Governor adhering to his promises, he also called on all tiers of government in Nigeria to make living in the country easier for people.

He also called for prayers for Nigeria, just as he called on the Government to be more diligent in the quest to provide good governance.

Oluiyamo made this statement at the 2022 Diocesan Summit held at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, Ijebu-Jesa, Osun State.

The theme of the Summit was, ‘Building A Vision For Ijesa North Diocese,’, where he also congratulated the new State Governor, and urged  him to serve the people with love and sense of accountability

The Bishop said, “Our prayers are with him (Adeleke) for good governance and successful tenure. He should please not forget to fulfil his promises to pay the salaries and allowances of the workers and retirees.”

Commenting further on the state of the nation, Oluyamo admonished youths to avoid any form of evil practice as the year ran to an end and ahead of the 2023 general election.

He said, “the state of our nation calls for prayer, prayer and more prayers. We call on the government to be up and doing in this business of good governance and making life easy for the populace.

We enjoin the youths to avoid any form of evil practice as the year runs to an end and as we go into the 2023 general election.

Ex Lawmaker Says Restructuring Not Way Forward, Call For Good, Credible Leaders

0
Bimbo Daramola

By Akinwale Kasali

The call for the restructuring of Nigeria has been criticised by a former member of the House of Representatives, Bimbo Daramola. He said restructuring is not the solution to the challenges befalling the nation.

Daramola said that the leadership challenges confronting the country for structural challenges is enormous, hence the call for restructuring, which seems like the only option left.

The former lawmaker who is seeking a return to the House in 2023 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party,SDP,  Ekiti North Federal (Oye/Ikole) Constituency 1, said what the nation needs urgently at the moment is fixing the  leadership crisis rocking it, following which all things would fall in place.

Daramola said the challenges befalling the nation are the major reason he joined the race, stressing that it was“because of young people who believe in what he represents.

“I expect that this is another election that will show the way in this country. Nigerians should take a stand for the right people. It is up to us to liberate our people.”

The former lawmaker condemned vote-buying, describing vote-buyers as “exploiters,” saying, “That is why those elected leaders behave anyhow because nobody will ask them questions after the transaction.

“Vote-buying as a phenomenon is a threat to our democracy. There is no doubt about that because it compromises people, it takes advantage of the weak, poor and less-privileged. Vote-buying can’t stop unemployment and hunger after elections. If we abdicate responsibility, then all of us are going to pay the price and I hope that does not happen,” he said.

On the clamour for restructuring, he said, “We should not mistake a leadership challenge for structural challenge. I know what has plagued our country till date is a leadership problem. How do you deal with a nation that loses 700,000 barrels of crude oil daily and you think restructuring will cure that?”

Daramola, who said corruption was at the background of the country’s problem, said, “For instance, successive administrations have been dealing with the Lagos–Ibadan Road, do you think restructuring will cure that? Let us fix our leadership challenges and problems, then we can fix all other problems.

“A man who is corrupt in Nigeria, when he gets to the Republic of Oduduwa will be a mega corrupt man. A thief in an entity called Nigeria will be a mega thief when he gets to the Republic of Arewa or Ndigbo.

“So, we need to be very careful about the direction that we look for the solution to our problem. What is the restructuring agenda vis-a-vis corruption? What is the restructuring agenda vis-a-vis losing 700,000 barrels of crude oil daily. We have been told we don’t have anything in the reserves anymore. How does restructuring stop that?”

Buhari Charges African Leaders On Good Governance, Hosts ECOWAS Heads Of States

By Ayodele Oni

President Muhammadu Buhari has stressed the need for the Africa sub region to deepen democracy through good governance.

He charged the new management team at ECOWAS Commission led by Dr. Omar Alieu Toure to complete the review and harmonisation of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the sub-regional body.

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in a statement on Sunday, stated that President Buhari made the remarks in Abuja in his welcome address at the 62nd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

“The Commission must, therefore, work assiduously to complete the review and harmonisation of the Protocols on Good Governance and Democracy, as this would enable our sub-region to sustain our collective efforts to deepen not only Democracy, but her dividends through good governance to the Community citizens.

“Related to this is the urgent need to fully bring into operation, the Regional Action Plan on the Fight Against Terrorism and other acts of criminality in the sub- region as enhanced safety will sustain national governance efforts that would ensure the growth and progress of our sub- region.”

President Buhari noted that this year’s Summit was the 8th that Nigeria, under his leadership has hosted:

“All of those occasions, including this one, have brought honour and respect to my country as Nigeria continues to be at the centre of sustained solidarity and collaborative efforts to maximize our relationships in order to address common challenges to our countries and the Community’s citizens.”

The Nigerian leader paid tribute to President Kuffour Addo-Nana of Ghana, the immediate past Chairperson of the Authority for his services and congratulated President Umaro Embalo of Guinea Bissau on assuming the leadership of the sub-regional organization.

He expressed confidence in the latter’s ability to “discharge his responsibilities to the sub-region, as well as meet the expectations of the Community citizens.

President Buhari thanked fellow leaders for the support he received as the Regional Champion on COVID–19 at a time the pandemic ravaged the entire world, ascribing the successes recorded in the region to their cooperation.

“Let me specifically thank you, brother Heads of State and Government, for the confidence you reposed in me to be the Regional Champion on COVID-19, an opportunity that brought me to working closely with sectoral Ministers, ECOWAS Commission as well as the West Africa Health Organization to develop regional mechanisms that mitigated the effects of the COVID-19.

“Without doubt, the commitment shown by Member-States yielded very positive results as West Africa emerged as one of the regions with the least mortality rate, not only on the continent, but globally.”

The President however, lamented that despite the efforts of ECOWAS leaders towards deepening democracy, the region suffered some unpleasant setbacks:

“Regrettably, some of our gains, especially in fully democratizing our governance space have faced and continue to face severe challenging threats from unconstitutional change of government as witnessed in Mali, Burkina Faso and Guinea.”

Atiku: Lamido Leads Okowa, Tambuwal To Beg Obasanjo

0

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo played host to top People’s Democratic Party, PDP,  chieftains which included former Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state, Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state who is also the party’s vice presidential candidate in next year’s election, on Saturday.

The meeting was meant to get his support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, even as his campaign continues to face backlash due to opposition of some governors of the party, led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, close watchers of the party said.

The ‘rebellious’ governors now known as G5 governors have vowed not to support the former vice president for the top job in the country, except the National Chairman of the party, Iyorcha Ayu, resigns his position.

Atiku insists he cannot force Ayu out, even as the party’s chairman holds on to his position, thereby putting the party on the firing line, and endangering the chances of the party in the make or mar election.

The magazine learned that the meeting with Obasanjo was convened to enlist his intervention, even though his body language, according to watchers of what is going on, indicates that he’s in support of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP. The former head of state has however denied endorsing any presidential candidate.

Sources privy to the meeting informed the magazine that the Lamido team told the former president that Atiku cannot win the presidential election without his support. They also wanted him to rein in the G5 governors before the new year.

“Everybody knows that former President Obasanjo is a national figure respected across the country. His intervention will go a long way to bring peace to the party. Atiku cannot win without Obasanjo’s support,” a source in the party who also attended the meeting said.

Another source told the magazine that “the delegation requested the former president to speak to a former governor of Rivers state to ‘talk to Governor Wike’ to step down his opposition to Atiku.”

“We believe that Governor Wike still listens to some people in the country, among them former Governor Odili who is a staunch and respected member of our party,” he said.

Meanwhile, a source close to Obasanjo told the magazine that the former president will not change his support for the LP candidate.

Oluwo Condemns Attacks On Palaces, Urges Security Agents To Arrest Perpetrators

Oluwo of Iwo

By Ayodele Oni

The Oluwo of Iwo, in Osun state, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has called on traditional rulers in the country to rise against incessant attack on their palaces  describing it as sacrilegious and a taboo.

According to the Monarch, such an action  may incur the wrath of Olodumare, stressing that palace is House of God on earth, and attacking such has consequences.

Palaces of Akirun and Aree monarchs Osun state were recently attack following Chieftaincy dispute, while a monarch in Ondo state was abducted inside his palace last week.

The Royal Father expressed disappointment on the silence of Yoruba monarchs, saying an attack on one is an attack on all.

He described the attack as demonstration of shame and shallow reasoning perpetrated by uncultured, uncivilized individual taking laws into their hands, adding that it is only those who don’t pass through the four walls of classrooms that are doing such in this century.

In a statement by his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the Oluwo appealed to the Nigerian Police to arrest the perpetrators of the criminal attacks to serve as deterrent to others and preserve traditional institution.

The Royal Father threatened to go after anyone who attack or attempt to attack any palace in Yorubaland, emphazising that, no reasonable person will take the law into his hand, when there is government in place

“In a civilized society where the government and judiciary are respected, no reasonable person will take law into his or her hand.

“The recent attacks on both Akirun and Aree’s palaces are abominations, taboos and sacrilege. It is a collective attack on all the reasonable Yorubas, and mostly the Traditional institution.

“It’s a shame on Yoruba sons and daughters with conscience who think setting the palace ablaze is best means to vent their anger.

“Civilized and reasonable ones will approach the court to seek redress. The perpetrators have incurred generational curses on themselves.

“There have been palaces before the Church and Mosque in the time of David and Solomon. When did you see either Christian or Muslim burning the Church or Mosque while fighting over pastorship or Imam position? Pure, unadulterated palaces are the Houses of God on earth.

“It further saddened my heart that no traditional ruler is speaking against the immoral, uncultured and uncivilized attack on our sacred stools. The source, pride and heritage of every town is the palace. An attack on any stool is an attack on all stools.

“This is a great challenge to all traditional rulers most especially in Yorubas. If Mosque, Church are not attacked, why the palaces? The monarchs should check themselves.

“The pride of the stool has been decimated. The onus is us to lift the sacred throne above objects and reclaim our glory. Many monarchs will worship Orisha but still, hoodlums don’t fear the stool.

“We should return to God and clinch to Him. It is only by truly and purely representing GOD we bear His name we can be duly respected and protected

“I call on the Nigerian Police Force to enforce search, arrest and prosecute perpetrators of Akirun and Aree palaces attackers. They must not go scot-free. They should be made to face the full hammer of law.

“Henceforth, I will personally run after attackers on our sacred thrones. Will they do that to the King of Saudi Arabia? Shame, shame and shame on that town/city that made it possible for thugs to burn their palace. A sacrilege has been committed.”
