Imo: Gunmen Behead Ohizu, LGA Chairman

0

By Charles Igbo

The gunmen who kidnapped Chris Ohizu, the Ideato North Local Government Area’s Sole Administrator, have beheaded him.

The gory and heart-stopping video of Ohizu being beheaded, surfaced on Sunday, two days after he was abducted from his country home, in Arondizogu. He was beheaded after the sum of six million Naira waa collected from his family in ransome money.

Ohizu was abducted alongside two others when the gunmen stormed his home at an uncivilized time on Friday. Before he was abducted, he was shot on the leg and his house set on fire, and razed down.

The fate of the two people abducted with him was not known at the time of filing this report. He was, reportedly, recently discharged from hospital before he was abducted.

The grisly video of his beheading, recorded with his phone, was posted on Whatsaap platforms. It was the post that alerted his family and the public of his cruel fate.

In the video, he was stripped to his boxers, tied hands and legs, laid on the ground in a bush sideways, and held down by his abductors whose faces did not show. While he was held down, one of them beheaded him with a knife.

The abductors were heard  saying, “You (politicians) will hear ‘nwii’. There will be no elections (in the South-east).

It is not known why Ohizu was picked for the horrible treatment. But, a week before he was abducted, gunmen had invaded the country home of Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo, the House of Representatives Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency.  During the attack, three people, including his uncle were killed, his country home, and at least 20 vehicles, razed.

For the records, Ohizu is of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the story.

Presidency: Keyamo Says North Won’t Betray Tinubu

0
The Minister of Labour and Employment and Spokespersons of the Tinubu/Shetima Presidential Campaign Council, PCC has described as untrue suggestion that Northern leaders in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, will betray Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the party in next month’s election.
The APC presidential hopeful and former Lagos state governor is believed to be in a tight race with other two candidates Atiku Abubakar, and, Peter Obi of the People’s Democratic party and Labour Partyl, respectively.
Recently, the PDP has alleged that some APC governors and leaders are not fully in support of Tinubu, and are only waiting to betray him in the February 25 election.
The allegation of betrayal notched higher last week  when Yerima Shetima, president, Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, said many APC leaders, including the party’s governors from the North do not want Tinubu to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, whose tenures expires on May 29 this year.
The Northern youth leader cited for example, the recent rally held for Tinubu in Lagos by Northerners, alleging that the leaders and governors were absent.
Responding, Keyamo said on his official Twitter handle, that it’s unimaginable for PDP to suggest that Tinubu will be betrayed by northern APC leaders.
The Minister said the north is fully behind Tinubu’s presidential bid, and are only waiting to prove this in February 25.
According to him, the north will use the election to prove its  support for the unity of Nigeria, which he claimed Abubakar betrayed when he refused to support power shift to the south by clinching the PDP presidential ticket.
Keyamo: “What’s destroying the PDP is the insensitivity, greed & covetousness of one man in not respecting their own constitution & the zoning tradition of this country b/w the North & South.
” He hopes to lie his way to the Presidency. Nemesis is just lurking around the corner on Feb. 25th”
“It is even an insult for Atiku Abubakar’s men to suggest that @officialABAT will be betrayed by the APC Northern leaders.
“Since betrayal runs in their veins, they think it’s the norm for everyone to behave like their Principal. February 25th will teach them what honour and integrity means.”

“Tinubu Has Dementia, Can’t Hold A Teacup; In Yola, We Begged To Take Mic From Him” —  Najaatu Muhammad

Bola Tinubu and Naja'atu Muhammad

By Gideon Njoku

“Tinubu is unfit to be President. When you talk green, he talks red. In Yola, we had to beg that the mic be taken from him”

Najaatu Muhammad, who resigned on Saturday as a Director in the Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and from the Party, has given more reasons why he quit.

In an interview with THE WHISTLER, Muhammad, until Saturday, the Director of Civil Society in the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, said she loves Nigeria more than individuals or Political Parties.

According to THE WHISTLER, Muhammad, a member of the Police Service Commission, PSC, said that “Tinubu, does not have the presence of mind to be the President of Nigeria.”

Among other things she revealed that Tinubu has symptoms of dementia and does not understand what one says. She revealed that the APC Presidential Candidate was so bad at the Campaign rally in Yola on Saturday, that some Party faithful had to beg that the microphone be taken away from him.

Before her interview with WHISTLER,  she had earlier, in  a resignation letter as the Director of Civil Society in the PCC, addressed to the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu,  said that  “The challenges facing the country today require me to continue championing the struggle for a better country with a clear conscience as I remain absolutely loyal to Nigeria.  The problems require the consolidated efforts of competent and patriotic leadership across every level of governance.”

In her interview, she told THE WHISTLER that Tinubu cannot hold a tea cup and has demonstrated clear symptoms of dementia.

She said she confirmed the sad situation during her visit to  the APC Presidential Candidate in London.

Tinubu Mentally Unfit To Be President, Cant Decipher

Muhammad: “Asiwaju that I sat with for two hours, he slept most of the time. It was Bisi Akande that I was really talking to. Most importantly, he is not only physically unfit, he is mentally unfit, whether we want it or not, this is the truth. It’s not that I hate him, I respect him because I have heard of one or two people that he assisted which is good.

“But when you talk of leadership of over 200 million people, you know that if you remove tribal sentiments, you know that he is incapable. Those that will rule are those around him. This is the reality. He is mentally deranged – I said it!

“I sat with him for two hours in London, when you talk of green, he will give you an answer of red, he can’t even decipher, he has very serious dementia, I believe he has Alzheimers  because he cannot even hold a cup of tea.

Why Tinubu Is Contesting

“If you remove tribal sentiment, if you remove the Lagos/Ibadan press, if Tinubu were not a Yoruba man, he will not dare contest election because they will crucify him, but people are all there to defend him because he is Yoruba. It’s  egbe omo Oduduwa over everything else.

In Yola, We Begged That The Microphone Be Taken Away From  Tinubu

“I was in the campaign for Yola, and we had to beg them to take the mic from him, everything about Tinubu is based on lies. Imagine he is an Hausa man, will he contest elections with all these gbese on top of him? In this campaign nobody should talk of corruption because they are corruption personified.”

Like me, I still remember that my father was hiding a lot of Igbos in our house.

Why I take exception to Obi is that he has never condemned it, that is my problem with him, he has never come out to condemn IPOB. If you want to lead, how do you dialogue with them, they are even killing his own people. He said they have a right to agitate for secession. So, if you believe they can agitate, then you shouldn’t be the president of the country. He should be like Desmond Tutu and negotiate for peace as a national figure.

Asiwaju that I sat with for two hours, he slept most of the time, it was Bisi Akande that I was really talking to. Most importantly he is not only physically unfit, he is mentally unfit, whether we want it or not, this is the truth. It’s not that I hate him, I respect him because I have heard of one or two people that he assisted which is good. But when you talk of leadership of over 200 million people you know that if you remove tribal sentiments, you know that he is incapable, those that will rule are those around him. This is the reality. He is mentally deranged – I said it!

The APC because I had to work for my candidate in Kano. But Kwankwaso does not stand a chance at the presidential level, this is the reality that one has to think. In my position I can’t start to be sentimental, I have to be broad minded.

I don’t wish for anything for myself, everything I’m doing is out of passion for my country, I went to a public school, Europeans were teaching me in Kano at a public school, except for my primary and junior school that I went to a catholic private school, I was the only black girl in the white school, after that Baba put me in a public school all through to the university, it was public. But Now I have to pay through my nose for my child to go to Oxford, why? Millions of our children cannot go to school, they are the bandits that are hunting us today, this is by our creation, and we still lie until we all become

How Fashola Lied That Tinubu Issued First Bond In Nigeria

0

Ex-Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu and All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate in next monthsl’s election, was not the first governor to issue a development bond, contrary to claim by his protege, and, Minister of Works, Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola.

Tinubu was elected as Lagos Governor in 1999, and, has claimed ownership of many developmental projects and policies in the state, including that he pioneered the issuance of Bonds in the country.

Fashola recently alluded to this as part of his the ongoing campaign for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate.

Tinubu,  a frontrunner in the February 25 presidential election has been hit with many controversy lately as his campaign team ramps up efforst to make him succeed Buhari as commander-in-chief.

“Let us remember that the first state bond for infrastructure and development in this country was raised during his (Tinubu’s) term as governor,” Fashola told local broadcaster Television Continental on January 12, 2023,” Fashola said on the Television Continental, TVC owned by the APC presidential hopeful.

When Tinubu, was Lagos state governor, Fashola served as his chief of staff before becoming governor himself.

In the interview, Fashola noted that some of Tinubu’s initiatives as governor were replicated across Nigeria.

Responding to concerns about Tinubu’s health, Fashola said anyone underestimating the candidate was doing so at “his own peril”.

Tinubu, a two-time governor of Lagos state from 1999 to 2007, has come under intense scrutiny since he won the APC’s nomination. AFP Fact Check has debunked several claims about his health.

But the claim that Lagos became the first Nigerian state to raise a bond for infrastructure under his watch is false.

Lagos raised first state bond?

Private corporations and state-owned enterprises can issue bonds to borrowers in order to finance infrastructure or development projects.

All state-issued bonds since 1978 are listed on the official website of Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC.

The document shows that the now-defunct Bendel state— present-day Delta and Edo states — issued a bond during military rule in 1978. This predates Tinubu’s administration, which came into power in 1999 when Nigeria returned to democratic rule.

The 20-million naira bond (more than US$43,000 at the time) was issued to finance the development of a housing estate.

In 1986, Ogun state issued a 15-million naira bond for the development of a water project.

A year later, Lagos issued its first bond in the amount of 30 million naira for the development of the state’s Lekki Peninsula area.

After Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999, Edo and Delta states were the first states to issue bonds.

In 2000, Edo state released a bond of 1 billion naira for the development of a housing estate. That same year, Delta state also issued a bond of 3.5 billion naira for a variety of development projects including the construction of a market and water facilities.

Under Tinubu, Lagos state 2002 issued a 15-billion naira bond, the state’s first since the return to civil rule, to refinance development projects in the state, according to the SEC’s document.

Information on the official website of the Lagos state Debt Management office shows that the bond was successfully redeemed in 2008.

Waka about Africa

2023: US Agency Says Election Not Predictable

0
INEC Logo

By Akinwale Kasali

A United States of America -based election monitoring organisation, the  National Endowment for Democracy has said that the forthcoming 2023 Presidential Election is unpredictable.

The US based agency applauded Electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for putting into place a technology-driven electoral process, expressing optimism that the country would be the second largest democracy in the world in 2050.

Damon Wilson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of NED, stated these while fielding answers to question pose to him during an interview with journalists in Abuja at a  meeting convened by Yiaga Africa to interact with other stakeholders on preparations for the 2023 general elections.

NED, a private, non-profit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world, was established in 1983 by the American Congress for the promotion of world democracy.

NED gives over 2,000 grants to support the projects of non-governmental groups abroad who are working for democratic goals in more than 100 countries.

Wilson said, “Nigeria is the fifth largest democracy in the world; it is on track that by 2050 to be the second largest democracy in the world, even bigger than the United States. But it has got a consequential election coming up in less than 40 days, building on seven elections since the transition.

“And we have seen in this time a Nigerian democracy that has ousted incumbents, where term limits have been enforced, peaceful transitions have taken place and now we have seen a country that is poised to have a more technically effective election that has bolstered the authority, the Independent National Electoral Commission, that is tapping technologies to help ensure greater credibility to vote at a time around the world, where things are kind of tough for democracy and elections in a lot of places are heading to roadblocks. Nigeria is offering an example of a world of progress and momentum.

“There is a lot of energy, a lot of enthusiasm and we are looking to understand that to learn from that and to see how we can help support that.”

He also pointed out that his organisation was not coming to predict who would win the elections or whether there would be a run-off.

Wilson, however, expressed concern over low voter turnouts during elections in Nigeria.

He added that Nigeria’s democracy was really evolving dramatically as the current presidential candidates have made it difficult for Nigerians to know who would win the election.

Wilson said, “It is not really my place to determine or predict the outcome of this election. I am a really interested observer and what I do see is that I watch relatively low voter turnout and your last election.

“And just by the conversations we are having, we do see a heightened level of engagement, heightened level interest, the fact that we’re less than 40 days out, and most Nigerians don’t know who’s going to win and they don’t know whether there’ll be a runoff.

“We have seen a surge of young voters being registered, I think in the last six months, INEC said they had seen in the last period, it was 70 per cent of those being registered were under the youth category. It’s pretty dramatic, remarkable.

“So what I have learned over and over again is even when democracies and elections are imperfect elections become an opportunity for people to organize and express themselves. I have seen over and over again surprises and so I don’t know what is going to happen.

“That is kind of a beautiful thing for Nigeria, the largest democracy in Africa, to be going into an election, and you don’t know what’s going to happen. That is democracy and action. It is exciting and we are going to watch this.”

Wilson also expressed concerns over the protracted insecurity situation across the country ahead of the elections.

He said, “I guess there are two things happening; one is the overall security situation which has been difficult in the country, whether it is been insurgency or terrorism or just banditry, kidnapping, other sources of instability that you know very well.

“But the truth is about 10,000 Nigerians who have died over the past years . from security incidents, that is extraordinarily high, and it does create a difficult environment where will people feel that they have got the security to be able to vote?

“What I was briefed on election related violence, which is much less election related violence is serious because it is targeted towards elections that we have seen political actors who have been, in some cases killed other places intimidated, INEC offices attacked and so what was really interesting from the briefings we saw was that Nigerians are organizing to be able to track this to document it to report it, to take it to authorities to see if security forces are understanding where were their efforts to intimidate and voter turnout four years ago, they can anticipate that today.

“So while this is a major issue, no doubt that I am hearing from Nigerians. I also see a lot of Nigerians focused on this issue of how they can actually provide a greater sense of security, how they can be better prepared, how they can anticipate where there are problems.

“And so ultimately, this is going to be an issue for this election but I am hopeful that it won’t be an issue that will be so disruptive. That said, anybody needs to feel secure to express their vote. That is a sacrosanct act in any democracy.”

PDP Calls For Keyamo’s Sack For Alleged Abuse Of Office

Festus Keyamo

By Akinwale Kasali

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, Spokesperson, Festus Keyamo has been criticized by opposition Party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for allegedly abusing office. The Party has, therefore, called for his immediate sack by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The PDP spokesperson for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Daniel Bwala, said this at a  press conference in Abuja.

The PDP said Keyamo “is using the official privilege and powers of that office to intimidate the agencies of the government including going to court and filing a case against the agents of the same branch of Government to which he belongs”

The PDP was reacting to Keyamo’s call for the probe of Atiku Abubakar over alleged corruption cases.

“We hereby call on the President Buhari to sack the minister for abusing the privilege that he has.”

The PDP alleged that Keyamo was using taxpayers’ money for self-interests.

The press conference also had in attendance other key members of the Atiku-Okowa campaign council, including Dele Momodu, who noted that the conference was part one of the party’s planned press briefings.

The PDP also called on the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control to probe  the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, over alleged drug-related offences.

2023: Bello Denies Dumping Tinubu Over Faleke’s Gov Ambition

0

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has declared his unflinching support for the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate for the February 25 election.

The Kogi governor who heads the youth wing of the APC presidential Campaign Council, PCC spoke amidst suggestion that he has withdrawn his support for Tinubu, due to his closeness to James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Lagos in the National Assembly, who’s believed to be nursing governorship ambition in Kogi State. Faleke is a close ally of the former Lagos governor, and a key figure in his presidential campaign.

The next govrnorship election in the state is billed to hold later in the year in November, and as the incumbent will no longer be contesting after spending two terms in office, Faleke is said to be standing by to succeed him.

Faleke had contested the governorship primary of APC in 2016, but lost to Bello who also went ahead to secure a second term in office. The House of Representatives member is said to be planning a come back, and not a few insist that Tinubu will pull his weight behind him to succeed Bello if the former Lagos governor emerged winner in the presidential election.

The permutation is said not to sit well with Governor Bello, who, according to reports has developed cold feet in supporting Tinubu’s presidential bid.

But speaking on a Channels Television Politics Today, Bello dismissed the rumour that he has parted ways with Tinubu. The Kogi helmsman described himself as an ‘ardent’ supporter of the APC pesidential candidate, saying that he’s one of the biggest ‘mobilizer’ in the APC ‘s bid to retain the pesidency in next month’s election.

He also dismissed any rift with Faleke, adding that they both ‘compare notes’ on how to ensure that Tinubu wins the pesidency.

On the next governorship election in the state, and his likely successor, Bello said “when we get to the bridge we will cross it, and the election is still very far away’ to be contemplating who the next governor will be, adding that he’s currently focused in mobilising the youths to deliver the votes required by his party to emerge winner in the make or mar presidential contest.

Bello said, “I woke up to see that fake news in the air today. It’s most unfortunate and I am urging all the law enforcement agents and all regulatory bodies regarding journalism and media practitioners that are practicing in Nigeria to please live up to their responsibilities.

“Let me further reassure millions of Nigerian youths and Nigerians, our followers and supporters across the world that I remain a very supportive, ardent supporter, mobilizer, campaigner, and driver of votes for our leader and president in the waiting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the flag bearer of our great party the All Progressives Congress and my own brother, His Excellency Kashim Shettima.”

I’ll Return Kano To Trade And Industry Hub, says Obi

0

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr  Peter Obi and his campaign train arrived the North’s commercial nerve center Kano on Sunday assuring the people that Kano will regain its old enviable status in trade and industry.

Obi told the jubilant organic crowd in the ancient city that he drove round Kano before coming to address them and he found all the industries in the City shutdown, promising that if elected by February, he and Datti will restore them.

He said that the trading status of Kano will return and will remain the center of cash.

Before, if you want cash you come to Kano but what you see today is poverty everywhere. Datti and I we will restore the old glory of Kano.

“We will secure and unite Nigeria where people will be proud to say I am a Nigerian. We will kill the sentiments of tribe and religion which they have been using to deceive us.’

The former Anambra state Governor told the people amidst shouts of ‘Sai Obi’ that under the Presidency of he and Datti, there will be one Nigeria where the people will be free to move and do their business unmolested.

Obi said that they will be able to do what they are preaching because they have done it in public and private sectors and succeeded, referring to his record in Anambra state where he was governor for eight years and no kobo was missing.

“Datti and I will not allow wastages. We will do exactly what we are saying” Obi stressed.

He told the people that this election is going to be about character you can trust not people who will come to talk about religion and tribe which they have been using to deceive us.

“If they come with their sentiments of religion and tribe tell them to give you job or show you where anybody is buying things cheaper because of where he comes from or because of his religion.

“We will pull people out of poverty by taking Nigeria from consumption to production and stop the sharing that has kept the country down.

Obi said that his administration will fight corruption because, “I and Datti are different, we will not be transactional but will use your money well for production.”

“Don’t listen to anybody coming from it’s his turn, it’s nobody’s turn, but your turn to take back your country from those destroying it.

“When they come look out for character you trust, the person with antecedents, the person you can identify his past, the schools he went and how they performed where they were before.

The LP flag bearer told the cheering crowd that the reason the national currency, the naira is not strong is because of corruption. They steal public money to buy dollars, promising that he and Datti will stop all that if elected.

Obi’s penetrating messages were also underscored by his running mate Senator Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmad, the National Chairman of Labour Party Barister Julius Abure and the Woman advocate, Aisha Yesufu who identified herself as active citizen. Before the rally, Obi addressed a cross section of women and youths in a town hall meeting.

Between Ugochinyere And Onwuemeodo: The Crux Of The Matter

0
Declan Emelumba

By Declan Emelumba

Of late, Sam Onwuemeodo, the life Chief Press Secretary to the dynasty of former Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has arrogated to himself the status of the guru and special adviser to the government on public relations, information management and public administration. Wired by this delusion, he proceeds to publicly present himself, even if fatuously, as the oracle of government image management. Even more silly, he dared to pontificate for Governor Hope Uzodimma and his government, how to manage information. Sadly, like a man estranged from history, particularly his own history, he is quick to draw comparisons on information management between the Okorocha era and the Uzodimma administration.

Consequently, an Onwuemeodo, who did not only act deaf and dumb, but collaborated with Okorocha to embarrass everyone with many information management blunders, suddenly finds the effrontery to lecture the Uzodimma administration on the type of speech the governor should or should not present to an Editors’ Conference. He even went further to advise that the governor should be thrown into mourning when Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo’s house and vehicles were burnt. This is pitiable and is tantamount to someone struggling in futility to give what he obviously does not have.

Is it not really pitiable that this self – acclaimed professor of public information management, for all his “grandmastery”, could neither filter nor remediate the grotesque utterances, policies, and missteps of that fatal Okorocha regime? Onwuemeodo could not mount his high horse when Okorocha proclaimed that he purchased his second term as governor (as opposed to being elected by the people), or when he upgraded the wanton disobedience of court orders into a state policy. “Professor” Onwuemeodo could not also lecture his pay master, Okorocha, when he denounced due process in governance or when he “proposed” and signed the abominable four-year rolling budget. He could not also find his voice when his boss berated pensioners for living too long, or when he chased civil servants into the bush in the name of compulsory farming. What was his response when he restricted  the attendance of civil servants to work to three days in a week.

Indeed, the irony is obvious. A man who was part of the information management team of the Okorocha administration – which ended with the worst public image of a state government – draws from the same Okorocha information (mis)management strategy to pass his message. What a great pity!

Now, while Ugochinyere and PDP rushed almost immediately to point accusing fingers at the government, Sam Onwuemeodo believes that officials of the state government, particularly Governor Uzodimma, ought to have shredded their robes in mourning to show empathy, as the father of the state. Because that did not happen, Onwuemeodo says the governor is insensitive, inexperienced, heartless and lacking in empathy. And this is coming from a man whose highest career point is serving as the Chief Press Secretary to a state governor.

Let’s take aside the insults on the person and office of the governor by Onwuemeodo and interrogate the facts of the matter –  including the analogy of Rochas visiting Charly Boy when his father died.

Before the unfortunate incident at Akokwa, Ugochinyere claimed that he had earlier escaped a similar attack by gunmen. Indeed, the first thing he did was to accuse the state government of complicity. The matter had not even been investigated. To the best of my knowledge, the alleged attack has not been formally reported to the security agencies. Yet Ugochinyere hastily concluded that it was the state government that was after him. The only “evidence” he presented was an audio recording wherein, according to him, he was threatened by an aide of the governor with whom he had a personal altercation.

Assuming, but not conceding, that the said audio recording is genuine, when has it become a crime for a Nigerian citizen to express his disgust at insults on his person? But if there was not any premeditated motive to rope the state government in, could it not have made sense for Ugochinyere and his cohorts to wait for the police report before rushing to the public with that weighty and self -serving allegation?

And just when Uzodimma was celebrating his third year in office, with Nigerians hailing him for the massive infrastructural revolution he has wrought in the state, the Akokwa attack surfaced to take away the attention from the successes of the administration. Part of the plan is to sustain the evil narrative of a state mired in insecurity. Again, the matter had not even been officially lodged with the security agencies when Ugochinyere and his PDP collaborators flew off the handle to accuse Governor Hope Uzodimma and his administration of culpability and responsibility for the attacks. Under that scenario, what was expected of the governor? To first clear his name or to sympathize with his traducer?

Let us be real and practical here. If a man is attacked by armed robbers and he goes to the market square to accuse his father of being responsible for the attack, what should be the natural reaction of his innocent father? To sympathize  with him or to clear his name of the false accusation? That is the issue here.

And as it is clear, in his foolery, Onwuemeodo who now postures as one who has acquired experience as both a governor and statesman, scolded Uzodimma for clearing his name. He went further to give the governor elementary lessons in governance and ethics by faulting the way he talked and reacted to the incident. To Onwuemeodo’s warped logic, Uzodimma, as a father of all, ought to have first sympathized with Ugochinyere, even when he stands falsely accused before the public.

Yes, you sympathize with a son who acknowledges you as his father. You sympathize with even a prodigal child who comes to his senses and apologizes for his gross misdeeds. You welcome a repented son home and show him love, not a heady one, not a chronic hallucinator, who relentlessly accuses the said father of plotting his downfall. That is the crux of the matter

Both the PDP and Onwuemeodo, as advocates for Ugochinyere, wanted the governor to have stopped the attacks. If their minds were not obfuscated by hatred, if they had taken time to assimilate and analyze the governor’s response, they would have allowed their befuddled brains to comprehend the fact that Uzodimma said the attack was as a result of disagreement among friends. Because they are not privy to the quantum of security reports available to the governor, they would never understand that what happened was a reaction to a breached agreement – the consequence of an action. What would have been the business of Uzodimma in meddling with their agreement? Every adult is responsible for his actions or inactions.

At any rate, the Government has since urged the security agencies to do their job and to avail Imo people and indeed all Nigerians of their findings.

Now, to the asinine analogy of Rochas visiting Charly Boy when his father died. What Okorocha did was expected of the sitting governor then. Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, apart from being a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, was also a former Chief Judge of the Imo State. Protocol demanded he should be accorded a state burial irrespective of the personal feelings of the sitting Governor. So what Rochas did was for the senior Oputa, and not the son. I presumed that since Onwuemeodo claims versatility in the art of governance and diplomacy, he ought to have known the difference.

He also ought to know that it is illogical to assume that Uzodimma or any member of his administration is enjoying the spate of insecurity unleashed on the state by desperate and failed politicians who know themselves. It is inconceivable to even suggest as Onwuemeodo did that Uzodimma is using insecurity as a step towards achieving a second tenure. That is insane. And that is a wicked propaganda against an innocent man who has been in politics for 40 years and who has never been linked with any iota of violence. How then can he use the blood of Imo people as a stepping stone for power? What kind of power? This could be the strategy employed by Onwuemeodo and his master under their disastrous era. But Uzodimma, as a man of peace, prefers a peaceful state to enhance development and spread the dividends of democracy in the state.

Indeed, with the call by PDP for the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Imo State as a result of insecurity, we don’t need to look further for the sponsors of insecurity in the state. They had vowed to make the state ungovernable for Uzodimma. Seeing that their devilish plans are not working, they have come out openly to attempt to topple the governor through a state of emergency. But like all their plots, this latest shenanigan will also fail.

That is why Onwuemeodo’s insolent and rambling tirade against the governor will be treated as mere burden of leadership which has to be tolerated. The illogicalities can be dismissed as the ranting of one enslaved to self delusion, who consequently deludes himself into thinking that a bat can ever be classified as an animal. Or that elementary knowledge  or and limited regional exposure, can earn someone automatic professorship.

More importantly, the legacies of looting, tyranny, debauchery, nepotism, and institutional paralysis which characterized their reign of terror has rightly occupied cupious inglorious pages of our history books. Those indelible pages of history will continue to haunt the perpetrators.

Now, for the records and in sharp contrast: Uzodimma has achieved in three years what that inglorious government could not achieve in eight years. The difference between the two administrations is like that between day and night. Incidentally, Imo people are enjoying the light of day. Their votes alone, with the grace of God, will determine Uzodimma’s fate, and not the bile of minions who think they can play God with no pedigree to show. As Abraham Lincoln one said, “You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”.
