Your Victory Is Phyrric –  APC Replies Osun Gov Adeleke

0

By Ayodele Oni

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state has advised Governor Ademola Adeleke not to celebrate yet as his days in government house are numbered.

Reacting to Sunday’s reaction of the Governor to the outcome of the general elections so far in the state, a of which PDP won, the APC insisted that it is not yet celebration time for the Governor.

The APC in a statement cautioned the embattled Governor Ademola Adeleke not to rejoice too much over the pyrrhic victory as it doesn’t change his status as a sacked Governor by virtue of the tribunal judgment delivered in January.

The statement signed by the chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, stated that “Adeleke is still clinging on to the governorship seat of the state by virtue of his pending appeal at the Court of Appeal of which the final addresses session was heard in Abuja last Monday.

“The house of assembly elections which mostly qualified as a facade that were characterized by maximum violence, attacks, maiming, suppression, intimidation, bullying, browbeating, bullyragging and scaring of the voters of the APC extraction by the thugs doing the bidding of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were held across the state yesterday where the PDP candidates fraudulently cleared many of the seats in the Assembly.

“Adeleke and his co-travellers have been basking in the euphoria of the questionable electoral victory, claiming that it was as a result of his superlative performance within his 100 days in the office.

“In order to rub salt to an injury, Adeleke even went as far as asking the APC to join and identify with his interim administration, forgetting that his name is written with an erazeable pencil as the governor of Osun State.

“It was saddening that Adeleke has either forgotten or is pretending not to know that his administration is clay-footed with so many hurdles to cross to remain as a valid governor of the state.”

Lawal queried Adeleke in what capacity was he extending his junky olive branch to the adjudged owner of the state governorship mandate and his numerous supporters?

The APC chairman said that it was abominable for a mandate usurper to dangle a bait at the validly-affirmed owner of such a mandate.

Lawal advised Adeleke not to be carried away  by the disputable and suspicious victory of his party in the state assembly elections’ results as they could not stand the rigorous legal hurdles at the tribunal.

“It is too early for the obviously belligerent Governor Adeleke to rejoice over the blood-and-sweat victory of the candidates of his party in yesterday’s elections across the state as the metaphorical legs of their buried dead body which the unmerited victory earned the questionable candidates of his party, majority of whom are certified Yahoo Yahoo practitioners, have been exposed.

“My party will not relent its efforts in bailing out the innocent people of the state from the throats of political vampires, buzzards, cretins and sleazebags who have invaded and raided the political sphere of the state with their phoney populist ideology and electoral commodification.

“It is despicable that an interim governor could develop such confidence and brashness to celebrate results of heavily compromised elections of the House of Assembly when his own political faith is still sagging and hanging in the balance.”

What PDP Victory In All Elections In Osun Means – Gov Adeleke

Ademola Adeleke

By Ayodele Oni

Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke has said that the chains of victory recorded by the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in February 11 presidential and last Saturday’s polls has stamped the dominance of the party in the state.

PDP had defeated the All Progressives Congress, (APC) by wining all senatorial and house of representatives seats.

Also results of last Saturday’s election shows that the PDP won all but one seat in the house of assembly.

The Governor expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Osun state over another landslide victory of the PDP at the just concluded state assembly elections.

In a statement on Sunday, Governor Adeleke celebrated the uncommon and unprecedented chain of victories the PDP had secured in Osun state from July 16, 2022 to February 25th, 2022 and the huge victory of Saturday March 18th, describing the outcomes of the elections as “complete embrace of PDP by Osun people for good governance and responsive leadership.

“My good people of Osun state, you have honored me and my party with another remarkable victory at the assembly elections.

“You have passed an excellent vote of confidence in my administration and my party by a series of electoral mandates in the last three elections.

“I went round the state with my scorecard under 100 days and you responded by endorsing my party’s candidates for legislative offices.

“You listened to my request for assembly members of my party who will work with me to deliver our five-point agenda. Your trust in me to deliver on our election promises have been expanded and strengthened.

“Your verdict on my performance is loud and clear- you have approved of our people-focussed governance and our demonstrated will to resolve all outstanding challenges inherited from the previous administration.

“I have come to say a big thank you. Like I used to sing, ‘Ese eku itoju min, momore’. We will not take your approval, endorsement and solid backing for granted.

“Myself and my team will rededicate ourselves to the urgent task of state building, of service delivery and of delivery of dividends of democracy.

“Because your electoral endorsement is uncommon in the political history of Osun state, my performance must be extraordinary. And so it shall be now and all the time. Thank you for giving me all that I need to serve you more.

“To my brothers and sisters in opposition, I extend hands of fellowship and brotherhood. Join me to build a new Osun state.

“Support the will of the people as repeatedly demonstrated in the last three elections. As genuine democrats have no power except what the people will, I urge all lovers of democracy to enter the Imole train.

“Osun people need all, within and outside her political class, to unite for state development. You will find in me a listening and responsive State Chief Executive.

“Our administration will remain committed to an open, consultative, inclusive and transparent governance. We will govern with fear of God under rule of law for the collective interest of all Osun people irrespective of political or religious affiliations. Let all rest assured that there is no victor, no vanquished.”

Ongoing Plot To Upturn Governorship Election Results  in Abia, Enugu Will Be Resisted

0
Julius Abure - Labour Party National Chairman

The Labour Party, LP, has warned that any attempt to upturn the glaring victories of the Party in the Governorship Elections in Abia and Enugu States will be resisted.

In the elections held on Saturday, 18th March, 2023, the LP, according to results, won in the two States. But there is apprehension over the delay in the official declaration of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

In response to the delay, the National Chairman of the Party, Barr Julius Abure, at a Press Conference in Abuja on Sunday, warned INEC of consequences and urged that the results be announced immediately to douse tension.

Following the full text of the Press Conference.

“We have come to day two of the ongoing governorship and state house assembly elections and what we have continued to witness across the country and reports from our party men on the ground, are not in any way different from the criminality orchestrated against our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, during the February 25 presidential election.

“Today, we are again witnessing a situation where a sitting Governor in Abia state is fully involved in an attempt to upturn the victory of the Labour Party candidate, Alex Otti, in the Abia State governorship election that has been won by our candidate.

“The same scenario is presently playing out in Enugu state where Labour Party’s candidate Chijioke Edeoga is presently leading in virtually all the Local Governments so far announced.

“As we speak, INEC staff are held hostage at Obingwa Local Govt by Governor Ikpeazu and his cohorts to rewrite the results already compiled by INEC officials despite an order from the election body asking their staff to head to Umuahia to collate results for the election, which is in favor of Labour’s Alex Otti.

“This is one robbery too many. While Nigerians are yet to get over the ugly rape of a democratic process in last month’s presidential election by the ruling party at the center, the PDP has been found engaged in the most shameless manner and disregard for the rights of the citizens.

“We, therefore call on the Inspector General of Police to intervene and ensure the transfer of all electoral materials to Umuahia where the sanctity of the election and the safety of the officials in charge can be guaranteed.

“Ikpeazu cannot rig election in his local government which he lost in the Senatorial elections on the 25th.

“Similarly, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who lost woefully in the last election in the Enugu North Senatorial zone is presently doctoring the results from the zone with the help of some compromised INEC staff and Police to ensure that PDP is returned elected in the state against the wishes of the electorate.

“We have endured what no other political party in the country has endured in the last few weeks because we believe in due process but it appears this is taken for granted. But we may not be patient for too long.

“Let me sound it for the first time we will resist every attempt by the PDP in Abia and Enugu States to upturn our mandate.

“It should be recalled that the PDP in both states had issued a threat to opposition parties, which was specifically targeted at Labour Party after sweeping the states during the presidential election, this threat is already manifesting that the ruling party was only interested in rigging elections.

“The Labour Party had thoroughly reviewed all infractions and we have vowed to never again allow the use of foul means to usurp power as it was done in the past and merely ask us to go to court.

“If this is not addressed, we will be left with no choice other than to mobilize OBIdients all over the country to take over the streets across the length and breadth of the country.

“We have particularly reviewed the rigging of Edo state house assembly elections election, including other affected states and we are putting pieces of evidence of infractions in place to name and shame all democratic criminals.

“We have therefore, resolves that in as much as we remain a law-abiding political party, conducting our affairs strictly within the ambit of our nation’s electoral laws, the party will henceforth resist rigging and we will move to the streets to reclaim our stolen mandates.

“We will henceforth directly and physically confront and resist the election riggers from always having a field day in seizing our democratic institutions and circumventing the rules during elections. We have directed our supporters across the country to get ready for our signal to take over the streets.

“Enough is enough”

Lagos: Tinubu’s Man Issues Threat To Igbo

0

The rate of xenophobic messages during this election has been so high that many Nigerians are now calling for calm to prevent the country slipping into violent attacks by different ethnic groups in the country.

Strange enough, the spokesman of Bola Tinubu, President-elect and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bayo Onanuga has joined in the fray of those issuing threat to Igbo living in Lagos state, because they are not supporting the party.

Onanuga, a journalist and former Editor in chief of The News has not joined xenophobes such as Musiliu Akinsanya aka Oluomo, who, few days to the govrnorship and House of Assembly election, warned south eat indigenes who were not prepared to vote APC to avoid polling centers.

Akinsanya, an associate of Tinubu has since apologised after trenchant criticism from not a few Nigerians, saying he didn’t mean what he said.

But Onanuga has touched what many Nigerians regard as red herring, and raised the bar in the manner he sent his xenophobic message to Igbo living in Lagos, according to analysts who are unhappy with the way politicians are trying to divide Nigerians, and raise ethnic tensions via their careless comments.

Onanuga, who is the director of media and publicity of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, issued the warning in a tweet via his official Twitter account, @aonanuga1956.
He said, “Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, any Nigerian state. It is not No Man’s Land, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business.”

Lagos Guber: Disenfranchised Non Indigenes Lament Ordeal In The Hands Thugs, Hooligans

0
Election Violence in Lagos

By Akinwale Kasali

The Governorship and State House of Assembly Election in Lagos State was marred by unprecedented violence in some part of the State, where non-Indigenes were brutalised and  disenfranchised by alleged All Progressives Congress, APC, thugs and hooligans.

They  lamented that they were intimidated, emotionally and physically abused, traumatized and threatened by alleged APC supporters who didn’t allow them exercise their franchise just because of their States of origin.

Narrating their ordeal at different Polling Units across the State most especially, Eti Osa Local Government Area, Okota, Oshodi, and many more, they said that the thugs and hooligans who are, allegedly, APC members and apologists threatened that anyone on the queue, not voting for APC should gently leave the Polling Unit and go back, or else they would wreak havoc and cause mayhem at the scene.

This was the same message  MC Oluomo passed in a virile video a couple of days ago.

It was alleged that the thugs began to break bottles as people scampered to safety. The thugs allegedly took custody of the Polling Unit at Eti Osa,  directing only those who wanted to vote for the APC to cast their votes.

At Osapa 1 Polling Unit in Eti Osa LG, the Hoodlums and thugs were said to have threatened to kill any Igbo person, saying that they should leave the Polling Unit.

Same was what played out at Abraham Adesanya Area, where the thugs were all out to attack the Igbos.

“We were openly castigated and threatened by the hoodlums. They caused chaos leading to the INEC officials halting the process”, a voter said.

It was the same scenario that played out at Ayo Afolabi in Alimsoho Local Government Area, where the thugs allegedly intimidated the Igbo, saying that anyone that has the mindset to vote the Labour Party, LP, or the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP should have a rethink or else the person would be beaten blue black.

An electorate, Ekenne Nsofor, lamented that the APC thugs were violent, and were ready to attack anyone perceived to be Igbo.

“They were just shouting that this is Yoruba land and APC owns Lagos. They began to break bottles and brandishing dangerous weapons sending fear into the spine of the electorates, who were forced to leave the scene.

“It took the courage and the help of the Police who arrived at the scene at the right time forcing them to run away from being arrested.

“This is uncalled for. When will this nonsense stop. Will APC continue to intimidate we the Igbos who has added value to the economy of the State.

“It is really pathetic that the APC is desperate to win by all means. The Igbos aren’t against him as some of the Igbos are strong APC members, why the unnecessary attack on the Igbos. This is uncalled for”.

Arome Solomon also has a sad tale to tell at Adejare Polling Unit in Ilasa, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area, as thugs in large numbers stormed Polling Unitdispersing voters who were waiting for officials and Adhoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission to start voting in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections.

According to her, INEC officials were nowhere to be found as of 10:12 a.m., leaving many people stranded until thugs from the adjacent street invaded the polling unit with daggers and other sharp objects to disperse them.

“Policemen are also not present. The people have all run away and are not willing to return.

“I was driven out of the area by suspected All Progressives Congress thugs after confirming that I am an agent of the opposition party.

“They seized my phone and checked through it to confirm that I haven’t recorded their activities.

“They also chased away non-indigenes despite registering at many of the polling units threatening to beat them if they resist,” he maintained.
