1999 Constitution Due For Change – Pa Adebanjo

0

By Ayodele Oni

Leader of Yoruba Organization, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has observed that most problems confronting Nigeria are product of  the 1999 Constitution, advising that it must dumped in order to put an end to most of the problems stunting the growth of the country.

Speaking on 63rd independence anniversary of Nigeria on Channels Television on Saturday, Adebanjo revealed that “Nigeria’s political, economic and cultural problems are based on the way we are running the nation under a wrong Constitution that was not embedded when we got our independence”.

He noted that Nigeria would be put on the right path once the 1999 Constitution imposed on the country by the military is changed.

A cording to him “We lost the ball when the military seized control and changed the constitution

“They imposed a constitution on us which is the cause of the problem today. So, we should go back to where we were, by changing this constitution, that’s the bottom line of our problem.

“All the problems we are having are based and embedded in the fraudulent constitution by the military. You cannot rule this country under a unitary system of government.

“We have this problem of disunity because of the unitary form of government the colonialists were using, but when we inverted to federalism after the London Constitutional Conference in 1953 which came into office in 1954. Before then, there were no questions or issues.”

Nigeria at 63: Jonathan Commends Nigerians’ Loyalty To Nation, Says Time For Reflection

Goodluck Jonathan

Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has commended Nigerians for their steadfastness and loyalty to the country, in the face of the modest successes recorded and the developmental challenges the nation has faced since independence.

The former President stated this in a goodwill message to Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 63rd Independence Anniversary in which he encouraged Nigerians not to despair but remain committed to the task of charting a more progressive path for a greater tomorrow.

He noted that the anniversary offers citizens and leaders of the country to reflect on Nigeria’s journey of nationhood since independence.

Dr. Jonathan said: “It is now 63 years since our dear country got her independence from Britain. This commemoration offers us the opportunity to reflect on Nigeria’s great journey of nationhood; acclaim our modest strides, reassess the odds we survived, chart a path out of present challenges and renew our hopes for a greater tomorrow.

“Our country has seen progress as well as setbacks. Patriotic Nigerians, believing in their country, have always stood firm, sharing in the glory of successes and feeling the pain of missed opportunities.”

He stated further that if there was a sense of disappointment among our population, especially the youths, on the nation’s failed aspirations, over the years, such feeling was not entirely out of place.

“Yet, rather than despair, we should look back at the encouraging signposts that set the tone for an auspicious future and the promise that we could attain our growth and development goals. Our nation survived a civil war, pulled through economic downturns at different times and has continued to hold its ground against threatening socio-political challenges, leveraging that indomitable spirit that guided our nationalists to remain steadfast and focused. This is the same disposition that today strengthens our citizens and enlivens their spirit and hope against the menace of terrorism, insecurity, economic hardship and worsening effects of climate change.”

He added that it is the spirit that pushes Nigerians to excel on the global stage in sports, medicine, music, arts, technology and scholarship.

“As we mark yet another independence anniversary, we should focus our energy towards enthroning equity, justice, peace and national cohesion in order to bring to fruition the dream of  Nigeria realising its full potential and holding up the torch of liberty and progress for all Africans. Happy Independence Anniversary. God bless Nigeria.”

Uzodinma: Neither My Government Nor I Is behind Insecurity In Imo, As Catholic Bishop Dedicates Church Built by Governor

0
Hope Uzodimma

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State on Saturday said he is a beneficiary of God’s grace, mercy and kindness, hence nothing will stop him from serving God and mankind faithfully.

The Governor spoke at his home town in Ozuh Omuma, Oru East local government area during the dedication of St.Rose of Lima Catholic Church Parish Ozuh Omuma.

Governor Uzodimma solely built and furnished the Church.

Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Orlu, Most Rev Dr. Augustine Ukwuoma in his Homily said the Church dedication will help to foster peace and bring to an end the insecurity and bloodletting in the area and parts of the State.

In his remarks at the end of the Service, an elated Governor Uzodimma thanked the dignitaries who came from different parts of the country and used the opportunity of the dedication to inform the congregation that neither himself nor his government is instrumental to the killings in Imo State.

He described the insinuation as evil, devilish and an attempt to smear his image and blackmail his government.

He reiterated that as a Governor he needs peace to serve the people well and urged those behind the insecurity in Imo State to have a rethink or be ready to face the wrath of God.

The Governor said that despite all the accusations and blackmail against his person and his administration, God has proven to be with him, saying, “because power belongs to God.”

He said as someone who has benefited from God’s grace, he owes God a lot of gratitude, noting that it is unthinkable for anyone to link him or his government to the cause of crises and violence in a State God made him Governor.

He therefore admonished those responsible for the violence and carnage in Imo State to desist forthwith “because they will at the end answer for their sins before God.”

Governor Uzodimma further emphasised that his ambition is not worth the blood of any human being.

Recalling the genesis of the newly dedicated Church he built for his Community, the Governor said he was inspired by the commitment of his late mother, Ezinne Rose Uzodimma to Church work, charity and the things of God.

He expressed fulfillment over the newly dedicated Church, saying, “a fulfilled life does not point to the number of wealth one has but the number of faces that smile from one’s benevolence.”

The Governor who expressed joy that with the dedication of the Church the mother will be happy wherever she is, said his own joy knew no bounds, particularly as he looked at the smiling faces of the guests.

Explaining that the project was conceived some 16 years ago and modelled after the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama Abuja, Nigeria, the Governor said that he was encouraged by the late Catholic Bishop of Orlu, Gregory Ochiagha and the current Bishop, Rev. Ukwuoma, and regretted that Bishop Ochiagha was not alive to see the Church completed and handed over to the Diocese.

Governor Uzodimma expressed happiness that his people of Omuma and all well meaning people of God were part of the dedication ceremony.

He insisted that the Church is but a token of appreciation of the numerous good things God has done for him.

He thanked the Bishops, the clergy, particularly those from outside the State who joined in the dedication Service.

Earlier in his Homily, Bishop Ukwuoma had congratulated the Governor for the uncommon fit of building and donating a “magnificent worship place of God to the Catholic Church.”

The Bishop who cautioned  that “with the dedication of the Church it has now become the property of the Diocese and the universal Church,” warned of any infractions in the Church.

He seized the opportunity to appeal to the leaders to lead the people well “because there is a lot of hardship in the country.”

He also appealed to the leaders to do everything within their powers to prevent the looming strike by NLC and TUC, “as the strike will not benefit the poor, rather it will create more problems and difficulties.”

Bishop Ukwuoma prayed that God will use the dedication to enthrone peace and stop the bloodletting in Imo State in particular and Nigeria in general.

The ceremony was graced by five Catholic Bishops, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other Senators of Imo State extraction, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof Placid Njoku, members of the State Expanded Executive Council, Traditional Rulers and men and women from all works of life.

Nigeria @63: Obi Insists a Nigeria Still Possible

0

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25th general election, Peter Obi has urged Nigerians not to despair over the agonizing situation in the country after 63 years of our nationhood, but to remain resolute and hopeful that a new Nigeria is still Possible.

Even amidst grave uncertainties and apparent hardship, the citizens of Nigeria are experiencing due to persistent leadership failure after 63 years of our nationhood, Obi said the situation might be critical, but certainly not hopeless.

The LP Presidential standard bearer noted that the real reason Nigerians have remained visibly mired in poor governance and poverty after 63 years is that successive administrations through policies actions and inactions have attempted to suppress conscientious people, in tove the way for them to remain at the helm of power. The evidence of elite consensus on the way forward on structure and nation-building remains a core problem.

Obi drew analogy between a nation’s life and parameters of modern technology; if the input is garbage in then the output will be garbage out. When you  Google a subject,  the response you get will be based on the questions you input. Every nation invariably determines its own fate and destiny; and gets a leadership they deserve. Nigeria cannot be an exception. If we subscribe to rogue leadership, then we must face the attending consequences.

At 63 years, what type of questions are Nigerians asking of their leaders and what type of answer are we expecting? If at 63 years we cannot conduct an election to allow the will of the people to prevail, what type of country do we expect?

Every year on October 1st since 1960 we try to review our life as a nation but on looking back can we say that where we are is where we are supposed to be despite our vast human and natural resources? The answer is no.

Present realities notwithstanding, Obi is hopeful that a New Nigeria is POssible; but insists that the burden of responsibility is on Nigerians to take back their country those engaged in State capture.

While wishing Nigerians a happy independence anniversary, Obi prayed for God’s continued mercy and grace on the Nation.

Obi To Southeast Leaders: ‘No Economic Activity Can Flourish with Insecurity

0

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has told the people and leaders of the South East region that security is key to any economic activities and therefore wants all hands on deck to stem the rising insecurity in the area.

Obi in a message he sent to the South East Summit on Economy and Security in Owerri, Imo state capital, noted that the Summit is coming at the auspicious time given the disturbing insecurity in the region which has far-reaching implications to the socio-economic and political development in the geopolitical zone.

In the message, Obi commended the Southeast Governors for being thoughtful in organizing the summit and apologized for his absence despite being duly invited due to an inevitable earlier scheduled engagement outside the country.

The LP standard bearer whose message was aired to the summit, urged the leaders to come together and speak up on the way to end the embarrassing insecurity in the region.

“This summit which is focusing merely on security and its economic impact on the Southeast East has come at the most auspicious time. It’s very necessary that as a people we come together, and put our heads together to find a lasting solution to this problem of insecurity in our homeland.

“Our mainstay as a people is business, no business and indeed any other economic activity would thrive amid insecurity.

“If we put our minds to it and work in unity and mutual trust, we will find a way out of this problem that is alien to us.

“Let me therefore commend your excellencies, the Governors of the South East for initiating the idea of the summit and working together to make this a reality.

“Let me urge everyone at this summit and those of us who are unable to attend in person to speak up, contribute ideas, and be part of the initiatives or actions that would be agreed upon at this summit to bring an end to the problem of insecurity in our region.”

The former Anambra state Governor finally prayed for “God to guide us, grant us the wisdom, strength, and courage to take the necessary steps to end insecurity in our homeland so that we can continue to work with our God-given talent and energy to restore peace, tranquility in the South East and indeed our dear country Nigeria”

‘Chinua Achebe Will Weep For Nigeria Today – Obi Laments, Assures ‘There Will Be A Country.’

0
Chinua Achebe and Peter Obi

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25th general election, Peter Obi has predicted that there will be a country, in reaction to the saying of the literary sage, Prof. China Achebe in one of his novels ‘There Was a Country. But noted that if Chinua Achebe was to come to Nigeria today, he would weep bitterly for his country as comparatively, there was really no trouble with Nigeria four decades ago when the iroko of literature, Achebe wrote the book, The Trouble With Nigeria.  “If Achebe was alive, he would have taken back the book. When he wrote it, there was no trouble. Now, there is real trouble in Nigeria.”

Addressing the audience inside the Arthur Lewis Auditorium, the venue of the occasion, The Chinua Achebe International Symposium and 10th Anniversary Memorial Celebration organized by The Chinua Achebe Foundation and African World Initiative anchored by the very able Professor Chika Okeke-Agulu, Director Programme in African Studies,  Princeton University,  New Jersey, United States, the former governor of Anambra State characteristically drew factual comparisons to drive home the fact that though Achebe was spot on in identifying Nigeria’s troubles as leadership-induced, the globally celebrated writer of Things Fall Apart would weep bitterly today if he came back to observe how far his dear country had deteriorated after 40 years of his warning for positive change.

Obi described Achebe, who incidentally taught him the English Language in his first year at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as a man whose works defined him as one imbued with communal awareness to put in great efforts to better the society.

Mentioning Achebe’s protagonists in his books, from Okonkwo in Things Fall Apart, through those of Arrow of God, Man Of The People, and so on, the LP standard bearer impressively summarised the characters in the books as sacrificing whatever it took, including their lives, to better the lots of their people.

“This much he generously exemplified in the case of Okonkwo, who would not cave into the trampling on his cultural heads, but rather got deeply infuriated when the strings that held them together were cut in places, thereby letting in ‘mere anarchy’ upon the world, meaning beyond Umuofia. Take this home, a little scoop of palm oil and all five fingers of a hand are sure to get smeared. Obi drove home his point in categorizing Achebe as a man for the well-being of the people and society.

Obi re-echoed Achebe’s stance that the problem of Nigeria is simply a failure of leadership.  The Nigerian problem is the unwillingness or inability of its leaders to rise to the responsibility, of the challenge of personal example which are the hallmarks of true leadership  … Obi re-emphasized his unchanging belief that Nigeria’s problem is the cumulative effect of leadership failure over the years.

Obi in the usual way of buttressing his position with statistics, recalled that “40 years ago, university professors in Nigeria earned a monthly salary of N1,200 when the Naira exchanged at about  $1.6. So, that was about $2,000. And that then brand new popular Corolla vehicles and Peugeot cars sold at between N4000 and N5000. “It meant that any university professor could decide to save his three months’ salary to purchase a brand new of those brands of car. Today, such brands cost as much as N38 million …and the same professors earn N400,000 per month. It will take the same professor eight years of saving every dime earned to be able to  purchase the same brand of vehicle.”

“Forty years ago a million Naira was valued at $1.6 million. Today same amount is valued at just $1000. Even though our great father, Achebe would weep at the realities today,  he was very right about leadership being the issue.  Our country has been bedeviled by corruption.  Stealing public money has left us where we are today.

“People say that fighting corruption is not easy but it is very easy.  If you are in charge and you are not stealing, your wife is not stealing, your children are not stealing, those working with you will not have any reason to steal and you must have reduced corruption by over 50 percent.” Furthermore, he stressed that

“We can start thinking of a new Nigeria with competence, and capacity that is committed to fighting corruption. Is it possible to fight corruption? The answer is yes!”

Obi recalled how as governor, he met a state that was ranked 27th out of the 36 states of Nigeria in Education but that with conceited efforts through handing schools over to missions and pumping funds into the sector to ensure every conducive atmosphere of learning, his state moved from that position to first and stayed there until he left office.

He also recalled how his administration cleared over N35 billion backlog of pensions and gratuities he inherited and never owed salaries, pensions, gratuities, and contractors and still left behind over N75 billion before vacating office. PO was clearly emphasising that with leaders of proven integrity, capacity, and competence Nigeria would come out of her trouble, the trouble the great man identified four decades earlier before departing three decades later.

Obi regretted that Achebe was left with the lamentation of a failed nation clearly expressed in his last book, There Was A Country.  “So painful but I like to assure us Nigerians that There Will Be A Country. A country where leaders will be who they claim to be. A country where leaders will be of known identities, known parentage, where schools they claimed to have attended and certificates obtained would be accurately verified,” he concluded with the auditorium erupting in prolonged cheers.

While Obi dwelt on The Trouble With Nigeria,  other notable speakers in the globally screamed event before him included HRM Igwe Onyido of Ogidi; Richard Joseph,  Emeritus John Evans Professor of International History and Politics., Northwestern University; Toyin Falola and Frances Sanger Mossiker Chair in the Humanities,  University of Texas at Austin; Sonia Sanchez, Poet, Writer, and Professor; Chika Unigwe, Professor of Creative Writing at Georgia University; Obiora Udechukwu, Emeritus Dana Professor of Fine Arts, St. Lawrence University; HE Abena, P.A. Busia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ghana to Brazil,  Professor Emerita, Ruthers University; Simon Gikandi, Class of 1943 University Professor of English, and Chair, Department of English,  Princeton University; Anthonia Kalu, Professor of Cooperative Literature,  African Studies, University of California-Riverside; Mr Oseloka H. Obaze, an author and Former Secretary to Anambra State Government.

South East Summit Heralds New Dawn – Uzodinma, Govs Pledge Report Implementation, Anyim, Okonjo- Iweala, Others Seek Unity

South East Summit on Security and Economy

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who is also Chairman South East Governor’s Forum, has appealed to people from the South East to come together and save the zone from the clutches of enemies who are bent on ensuring that the Igbos don’t progress beyond where they are today.

He made the appeal in his welcome address at the two days South East Summit on Security and Economy on the Theme: South East Beyond 2023, A Time for Reset held Thursday, September 28 at the Landmark Event Centre Owerri.

The Governor said that the summit was organized to take decisions that will affect the entire zone on security, economy and even cooperations between one State and another, hence he said “the summit heralds a glorious new dawn.”

Governor Uzodimma recalled the strengths of the Igbo man pre Independence era and immediately after, stemming from one sector to the other and regretted that “the trade mark of Igbo unity has been weakened.”

He asked some pertinent questions: “How did the mighty Igbo Nation fall from her Olympian heights to the basement? What actually happened to Igbo nation?”

He added that it was the Igbo unity  that made the Igbo man trail blazers wherever they are found.

Recognizing that a lot of things had gone wrong Governor Uzodimma said that the Igbo technology and intellectual ingenuity are still alive and could still be applied to move the zone forward.

Governor Uzodimma regretted that “the Igbos can no longer speak with one voice, the Igbos are no longer united as they are divided and disorganised, a situation where some Igbos don’t want to be referred as Igbos.”

He said that the above problems are unfortunately, compounded by insecurity, with non state actors now holding sway in Igboland. He enjoined the  participants to think of how the region can get out of the doldrums.

Governor Uzodimma who emphasized the role the old Igbo State Union played in advancing the unity and spirit of oneness, and development of the region, maintained that the time to go back to that era is now.

He assured that the Governors of South East are working together to ensure that Igboland returns to that glorious era when the spirit of oneness led to the building of schools in Igbo land and outside the region.

He suggested that Ohanaeze Ndigbo should have offices in the 36 States of the Federation and Abuja and advocated the need for a platform for dialogue between the leaders and the youths. This he encapsulated in the old Igbo slogan of “Onye aghala Nwanne ya,” meaning, no one should abandon the brother.

Governor Uzodimma regretted the defeat of the Igbos in the civil war and the fear it instilled in our people.

On the summit topic, he recalled that the discussion is centred on insecurity challenges in the South East which some criminals are hiding under in the name of agitation to destroy the zone economically and socially.

He suggested that “participants must rise from the summit with a clear road map that our people will follow to regain the lost freedom and businesses without molestations and harassments.”

Governor Uzodimma suggested the floating of South East Development Fund as a means of funding researches that will help articulate the development of the place.

“We must stop the senseless sit-at-home.”

On his part, the Governor noted that the planned dredging of Oguta Lake to Atlantic Ocean is a bold step towards re- engineering the economy of the South East. He commended the Nnewi, Aba and Onitsha businessmen and women for exhibiting and sustaining the business spirit of Ndigbo.

In his address, the Governor of Anambra State Prof. Chukwuma Soludo expressed gratitude to the organizers, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and his brother Governors for agreeing to come together to discuss one general problem of the five States.

He who suggested that Igbos should have an unwavering and unalloyed commitment to the South East Agenda expressed delight to be part of the agenda.

“The South East needs a hundred years plan that will lead the zone to a destination.”

He talked of “homeland consciousness” where the Igbo must believe in themselves,  by believing in our products, in their technology and in their entrepreneurship.

Soludo suggested that the Igbo must also need a partnership to achieve their security, political and economic destination because of their itinerant nature. Such partnership must be with Nigeria, the Diasporans and International Community, noting that “as itinerant people the Igbos don’t need to be provincial.”

In his address, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti said that there is the need to engage our youths in dialogue and find out what their problems are.

“We must appreciate that there is anger in the land and amongst the persons that made up the area. We must work for justice for the land, people and groups and stop extortions of the poor by the rich and the leaders and do everything possible to stop bloodletting.”

Finally he suggested that “we must encourage our people to have peace and unity, and the right environment to carry out their normal businesses,” noting that “the Governors of the South East must work out a joint venture where they could commit resources for the overall interest of the zone.”

The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah suggested the need for regular meetings between the security agencies and leaders of the zone and the establishment of command and control centres to always analyse ideas that will move the zone forward.

He added that “there is need for the use of non-kinethic approaches such as: morals, town unions and others to persuade the Igbo men and women to see the need for peace and unity of the zone.”

Dr. Mbah talked of having a “unified market that takes care of competitive products advantage but most importantly, the need to build a ring-road that connects all the South East States.”

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemechi suggested the need for peace to be derived from family and home settings and the need to monitor our children and know what they do outside home.

She also reemphasized the need for South East to believe on themselves and expressed full commitment to the project.

The keynote speaker, the Director General World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who spoke via zoom, recalled that “the South East has so many talents, opportunities and resources begging to be exploited,” but regretted that “the zone has lost focus and his fragmented as a people who are disenchanted.”

She said that insecurity in the zone is sending wrong signals to those who would have wished to invest in the zone and concluded that “we cannot develop in the face of insecurity.”

Okonjo- Iweala said that the biggest resource of the zone is human resources as Ndigbo are seen in almost all spheres of live endeavour.

While she suggested the need to create an apprenticeship hub from where skilled youths will be recruited for lucrative employment, she proposed that the South East convenes an investment forum.

She noted that technology and digital economy are trending now globally, hence the need for digital infrastructural centre that can be located in Owerri and Abakilaki.

Dr. Okonjo Iweala challenged the South East Governors on the need to harness the abundant Diaspora resources where the different Professionals in Diaspora could be invited to develop the different sectors of South East economy like in education and health.

She also suggested that the South East Governors could come together to do financial engineering by establishing financial bond.

She drew the attention of the big opportunities in Agriculture, Oil and Gas and concluded that “to achieve all these and more there must be stability.” She said she is optimistic that the Igbos will rise again.

In their goodwill messages President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief  Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu promised to integrate and have an event such as the summit in the annual calendar of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

He recommended that the Federal Government adopts a non-kinetic approach on the matter of insecurity and that the Federal Government should support the State Governments to see that Industries are established in the South East in order to create employment and job opportunities for our youths.

He suggested improvement in power supply for the small and medium enterprises, especially the artisans to thrive and requested the Federal Government to grant approval for at least one major European airline to fly into the International Airport Enugu as well as the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri.

“This is in addition to the reactivation of a viable rail line connecting all the State capitals in the South East to Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja.”

A representative of the Chief of Defence Staff told the audience that the security challenges in the South East is not the worst in Nigeria and that the Security Services are not the enemies of the South East.

He said that “nobody is happy when any soul is lost to insecurity and worst still when an innocent soul is lost to the non-state actors.”

He blamed the unknown gunmen in the South East for carrying the fight to their own homes, saying “no person in right senses carries fight into their own home and this is the case in the South East.”

He reassured the participants and the South East Stakeholders to count on the security agencies as partners in progress.

The Representative of the National Security Adviser, Major Gen. Okey Ugoh (Rtd.) said that the National Security Adviser and the office was resolute in contributing their quota in ensuring security of the region and Nigeria at large.

From the Private Sector the Chief Executive of Zinox Technologies Ltd, Mr. Leo Stan Ekeh said that “there is the need for a change in the economic thinking of our people because what worked yesterday cannot work today.”

Suggesting that “We should engage the youths in the critical development,” Ekeh enjoined the Governors of the South East to appeal to Mr. President to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, noting that “Kanu is a critical factor in the security issues of the South East.”

From the Royal and Traditional Institution, the Obi of Onitsha, HRM Nnaemeka Achebe appreciated the Governors for organising the summit and called for Ndigbo to sit up on overriding agenda devoid political colouration.

He emphasized that “Igbos are known for hard work and what they need is to have their values back to accomplish economic successes and development.”

The chairman of the event, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, said unity, peace, and more were needed to achieve the desired development in the zone.

He congratulated the Governors for taking the bold initiative and said he was optimistic the outcome of the Summit will point the way to a better South East in all areas.

Earlier, the Chairman, Summit Planning Committee, Senator Chris Anyanwu thanked the participants for coming and thanked the Governors particularly for the idea of the Summit.

Senator Anyanwu expressed gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for not just initiating the idea, but finding it completely.

Ministers of South East extraction, Senators and House of Representatives members of South East extraction, representatives of women leaders, representatives of youth leaders, among others attended the event.
