Who Will Tell Nigerians That Bad Leadership Distributes Its Pains Without Discrimination?

“What luck for rulers that men do not think.” ― Adolf Hitler

Many Nigerians are stuck with zero experience of what it means to live in a decently run society. Laden with a long history of mostly inept, insensitive and less-than patriotic leaders, it seems abnormal to expect any bit of improvement in their daily existence from any government. Massive infrastructural decay due to criminal neglect and regular   reports of primitive accumulations of illicit wealth by wayward and light-fingered public officers have since lost their capacities to shock Nigerian masses.

In fact, most people have since adjusted their lives to perennially absorb the vicious impacts of these debilitating vices. They only extract some bit of cold comfort from continually reassuring themselves that they are in such a hopeless and helpless situation where these excruciating fallouts of leadership failure will remain the resilient, inseparable companions they are condemned to perpetually coexist with – which will always be there to severely hurt their country and diminish their joy, peace and fulfillment.

Those who lack personal resources to obtain some form of alleviation for themselves and their families resign themselves to fate hoping that they would be able to sustain the capacity to continue enduring these searing rewards of successive rudderless leaderships – which will remain their perpetual sources of torments.

Even the Nigerians who reside in well-ordered societies, where leaders are accountable and basic amenities are meticulously provided and maintained, once they touch down on Nigerian soil automatically adjust their minds to endure the excruciating realities of life in Nigeria. They only derive some consolation from the fact that they would soon jet out again to where sanity and orderly existence are taken for granted.

And so, when it is election season and this set of disenchanted and disoriented Nigerians are ready to vote, they do not even bother to interrogate the character, antecedents, hollow promises and other antics of the candidates having concluded that they are all the same – members of the same cult of corruption and ineptitude; rather they would seek to extract some ephemeral emotional satiation from lending their support to a candidate  who shares the same ethnic or religious identity with them. At least, they can always derive some comfort (or even animation) from the fact that their “brother” or “sister” had also joined the rampaging band of locusts, and that their votes had helped to achieve that “feat” for their own people!

Some others will eagerly accept contaminated crumbs from the tables of these same callous, thieving politicians who have cruelly impoverished them and mortgaged the future of their children and go all out to promote and mobilize voters and even fight for them to ensure they capture elective offices to continue their boundless looting of the public treasury.

Unfortunately, in Nigeria of today, the bad, shattering news is that there is hardly any green vegetation left anywhere again for the locusts to swoop on and devour! What we have all over the place are long stretches of excruciating aridity which only rewards with poverty and hardship all that are unlucky to have Nigeria as their home at this time, except the treasury looters and their accomplices.

A few months before the expiration of the Muhammadu Buhari regime, the London-based Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU), the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, told the world what most people already knew, namely, that Nigeria’s “debt service payments in the first four months of 2022 totalled N1.9trn, which was greater than its total revenue of N1.6trn, according to the 2023‑2025 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) draft presented by the Finance, Budget and National Planning Minister, Zainab Ahmed, on July 21st.”

In plain language, what we were told was that the amount being spent to service the huge debts accumulated by the Buhari regime, as a result of reckless borrowings, including the USD1.96 billion foreign loan for the construction of an undesirable rail line from Nigeria to Niger Republic, had far exceeded our country’s income, forcing Nigeria into the perilous state of compounding its debt burden by borrowing more money to service debts!

Also, the Excess Crude Account (ECA), Nigeria’s savings for the rainy day, which stood at $2.1 billion when Buhari became president, instead of increasing, had by June 2022 been brutally reduced to $35.7 million. By July of the same year, it plunged further down to $376,655. It would be a huge surprise to hear that as much as one cent remained by the time the Buhari regime exited power on May 29, 2023.

And so clearly at sea as to how to get Nigeria out of the sticky pit it was willfully dragged into on his watch, Buhari sought to derive revolting animation from playing the profligate big brother out there, dolling out USD$1 million to Afghanistan and approving N1.14 billion for the purchase of posh SUVs for Niger Republic to “strengthen their security operations” while the country he pretended to be ruling was scarily submerged in worsening insecurity. No wonder he threatened the other day to escape to Niger Republic if anyone disturbed him in his palatial country home in Daura, Katsina State.

For about eight months last year, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) was on strike due to very poor working conditions, and hapless parents were forced to watch the unsightly and devastating spectacle of their children’s future being toyed with by insensitive politicians whose own children were mostly studying in quality schools and colleges in better managed countries of the world.

When will Nigerians realize that each time they are deluded by politicians   into allowing primordial sentiments to dictate their choices during elections, that they are only empowering their sworn enemies to continue their perpetual impoverishment and continuous devaluation of their lives and those of even their unborn offspring?  Shortly after the elections, the politicians they had naively adopted as their “native idols” will hurriedly converge with their “bitter opponents” of a few days ago to plan how to share the nation’s resources, thumbing their delicate noses at their so-called supporters who had foolishly cultivated lasting enmities with neighbours and friends with whom they had enjoyed many years of cordial, beneficial relationships while campaigning and even fighting to rig in their “brother” or “sister” whom they have never met and might never meet?

Until Nigerians decide that only competent and patriotic managers should be allowed to take over the leadership of Nigeria at the national, state and council levels and steer the country away from its determined path of disaster, Nigeria, already miserably broke and prostrate, will fail beyond what anyone had thought was possible in a country ruled by human beings.

By the way, how do candidates even emerge in Nigeria? Are they chosen on merit? Does anyone among their party delegates bother about their capacity and character? At the national conventions of the two faces Nigeria’s terminal affliction, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the delegates that voted to choose their presidential candidates for the 2023 elections were reportedly bought soul and body with crispy wads of US dollars – an unwholesome indulgence that unleashed further hurt on the economy. This was apart from the hundreds of millions of naira earlier squandered to purchase nomination forms and sort out other logistics.

Now, after investing all these millions of dollars and billions of naira to secure their parties’ tickets alone and then more billions to prosecute the campaigns and buy votes from willfully impoverished Nigerians who are ready and eager to sell their future to assuage their hunger, what would be the first mission of such candidates once any of them captures power? But will Nigerians learn anything from this gloomy reality and apply themselves to wisdom in future elections for their own good?

If Nigerians continue to allow themselves to be deluded every now and again by ethically bankrupt politicians to discard character and competence and vote on the basis of ethnicity or religion or both, they will all be here to continue suffering the consequences of their tragic decisions.

A new government is in town now and the cost of living has gone to the skies as poor Nigerians are asked to make sacrifices while those in power swim in obscene opulence. Since many adult Nigerians were born, every new government has asked them to tighten their belts in order to enjoy a rosy tomorrow; but can anyone point to at least one single benefit that such punitive measures inflicted on the hapless people ever brought? What we usually see is that after sometime, things would get worse and more sacrifices would be demanded. This will continue until the particular regime quits power and the new one will come in with a reworded version of the same deceptive language: suffer today and enjoy tomorrow! A pie in the sky meant to tantalize and delude the unwary and tragically naïve people who have stubbornly refused to learn from their past mistakes!

Each time Nigerians go to the polls with the wrong reasons and vote or rig in mostly corrupt and incompetent candidates, all they have done is to help the perpetuation of the unimaginable suffering they are currently writhing under. Yet, despite this self-hurting preference, many of them still wallow in the grand illusion that a patriotic and competent administration will emerge to lighten their burdens and mitigate their sufferings. But is it not foolish to continue to plant mango trees every season and expect them to produce apples? How can a people persist in the fatal indulgence of   stubbornly eating and drinking poison and yet expecting to live and flourish?

Indeed, the excruciating pains of corruption and incompetence in leaders at all levels have no tribal marks. They do not unleash their torments with any discrimination. They viciously attack everyone irrespective of his or her place of origin, voting preference or even the tribal marks of the new misruler they have helped to enthrone.

Nigerians from Katsina, Buhari’s home state, or even the entire North that persistently gave him the loudly trumpeted twelve-million votes, can attest to this. Their region received the lion share of the boundless insecurity and excruciating poverty that distinguished Buhari’s eight-year nightmare.

Bayelsa Ministerial Nomination: Allegations Against Me Malicious – Jonathan

0
Former President Goodluck Jonathan
Former President Goodluck Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has described as malicious the story making the rounds in the Media, that he is seeking to nominate who will take Bayelsa State’s  Ministerial slot in President Bola Tinubu Cabinet.

On Tuesday, the Social Media, in particular, was awash with the story that Jonathan was bent on making the nomination for who would represent Bayelsa.

But in a statement issued on his behalf by his Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan said nothing could be further from the truth, and dismissed it as mischief carried too far.

Following is the full text of the statement.

Our attention has been drawn to a strange allegation in the media claiming that former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is seeking to nominate a minister from Bayelsa State for the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

We would have ordinarily ignored the falsehood, given that neither the authors who are shadowy characters nor their nebulous organisation, Bayelsa APC Elders Council, which is unknown to the structure of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, command any credibility. However, we have continued to receive calls from friends and well-wishers who are concerned that some innocent Nigerians might be misled by the duplicitous fabrication; hence this rebuttal.

We state without equivocation that the publication is false, malicious, preposterous and unnecessary. It is instructive that the authors of the hackery who are quick to spin such unfounded narrative could neither provide any clarification on the nature of the alleged consultations nor name the beneficiary of the envisaged nomination. We can only guess that a handful of faltering low profile politicians might have wrongly misinterpreted Jonathan’s recent visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, even when the former President, who is ECOWAS mediator in Mali and Chairman of ECOWAS Council of the Wise, clearly explained that he had gone to brief President Bola Tinubu, who has just been elected as the Chairman of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, on the recent developments in the sub-region.

The publication is simply a tactless ramble by some benighted politicians seeking to draw attention to their hopeless plight by raising malicious allegations against the former President. Howbeit, they have failed in this bid because most astute politicians within and outside Bayelsa State are well aware of Jonathan’s selfless and exemplary disposition to politics and statesmanship. Such people will never subscribe to the cheap blackmail from the so-called Bayelsa APC Elders Council.

Why do we think that their futile antics sounded familiar? It is because the spurious allegation seems to have been cut out of the same worn fabric woven by those unfortunate politicians who regularly hurled the most acerbic missiles at Dr. Jonathan, while he was in office as President.

Today, they remain pitiable characters because all their efforts to sully the reputation of the former President have been in vain, as his image has continued to soar both locally and internationally.

While we once again dismiss the claim as untrue, we advise Nigerians to ignore mischief makers and their web of fake news because of the danger they pose to the peace and healthy growth of our nation.

CBN Explains Why It Defied Tinubu’s Plan To Reduce Interest Rates

0
The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, says inflationary level in the country has been moderated due to its continuous hike of the interest rates.
Acting CBN Governor, Folashodun Shonubi made the assertion on Tuesday after the apex bank slightly raised the monetary policy rates by 25 basic points to 18.75 per cent.
Not a few had expected the rates to be reduced in line with President Bola Tinubu’s promise on inauguration day, as part of his administration policy thrust to drive investment and increase consumers’ purchasing power.
“Interest rates need to be reduced to increase investment and consumer purchasing in ways that sustain the economy at a higher level,” Tinubu said on May 29.
Apart from hiking the interest rate, CBN Monetary Policy Committee, MPC also voted to  narrow the asymmetric corridor to +100/-300 from +100/-700 and retained the Cash Reserve Ratio, CRR, at 32.5.
Before he was suspended last month as CBN boss, Godwin Emefiele had raised the interest rates in the country to 18.5 percent.
Shonubi who was appointed last month after the suspension of Emefiele, said yesterday during the MPC meeting in Abuja , that  inflation has been moderated due to hike in interest.
With Tuesday’s hike, the government bank has increased the rate eight times within one year, raising serious questions on whether the aim of combating the inflation monster has been achieved.
Following yesterday’s hike, analysts watching the CBN insist that the current inflationary problem will get worse, citing the recent removal of fuel subsidy, which has spiked the priceS of goods and services, as reason.

Students of Imo State origin have applauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for the huge investments he is making in the education sector, thus securing the future for the youths.

They were particularly impressed that the State Government under Uzodimma is currently funding three universities with vast opportunities for employment as well as admission placements.

Addressing a news conference in Owerri on  the State of education in Imo State since the Governor assumed office, the students under the agies of Association of Imo State Students, noted that from one University Uzodimma inherited in 2020, he has increased it to three in addition to a Polytechnic and a College of Education.

According to the President of the association, Comrade Umuokoro Udechukwu Mavis, the students are overjoyed that the governor is paying adequate attention to the education sector.

They averred that apart from recovering the KO Mbadiwe University from those who looted Imo patrimony, Uzodimma quickly set up the Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, a brand new Polytechnic at Omuma as well as the activation of the Ben Uwajimogu College of Education, Ihitte Uboma and the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery at Aboh Mbaise and Omuma.

According to Mavis, the Imo State University has been strengthened with National University Commission’s (NUC) accreditation of more than 95 percent of courses in the institution with the concomitant increase in students’ enrollment.

They students were also happy that Governor Uzodimma has continued to pay salaries of staff in the education sector even when the lecturers were on strike for eight months last year just as tuition remains free to all Imo indigenes.

The students reiterated that Uzodimma has done exceedingly well, not only in the education sector but in other sectors, hence their unqualified support for his re-election.

They therefore called on all youths in the State to rally round the governor to ensure that he is returned to office during the November 2023 governorship election.

By Gideon Njoku

Suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, had his joy at being granted bail by a Federal High Court, Lagos on Tuesday, cut short.

The Honourable Justice Nicholas Oweibo had granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N20m with one surety in like sum.

But Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, in whose custody Emefiele has been since his suspension and arrest in June, rearrested him within the premises of the Court.

The Court had remanded the embattled CBN boss in the custody of Ikoyi Correctional  Center pending when he would perfect the terms of his bail. Given that, he was expected to be taken away by officials of the Correctional Center.

But Operatives of the DSS strategically blocked all exits, forcing Emefiele and his legal team led by Joseph Dauda, SAN, to stay back inside the Court.

When the Prison Officials made to take Emefiele away, they were confronted by the DSS Operatives, and a physical fistcuff ensued.

The DSS Operatives overwhelmed the Prison officials, and to avoid a bloody situation, Emefiele’s legal team advised him to follow the DSS.

Thereafter, the DSS officials rearrested him.

Emefiele is being prosecuted by the Federal Government on a two-count charge of possession of a shot gun without licence and 123 live ammunition.

Emefiele was suspended from office in June 9, 2023 by President Bola Tinubu and was arrested by the DSS   about 24 hours later. He has been in the DSS custody since then.

Emefiele, 61, was appointed the CBN Governor in June 2014 by the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan.

This followed a letter from Governor Godwin Obaseki, which sought the approval of the parliament for an internal loan.

It was widely reported that Governor Obaseki and his entourage got stuck on Saturday while driving along Benin/Sapele highway, during a downpour.

Speaker, of the Assembly, Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku also summoned the Controller, Federal Ministry of Works to the hallowed Chambers next week Tuesday.

The Speaker gave the summons during the plenary over the refusal of the controller of works to appear with the director of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, who was present.

During plenary, Agbebaku led other members to question the Director, Federal Road Maintenance Agency, Engr Muktar Ibrahim on the condition of Federal Roads in the state including the Benin- Auchi  Road, Benin- ore road, specifically the ovia River Bridge; as well as other deplorable Federal Roads in the State.

Responding to the questions by the Lawmakers,  the director, Engr Ibrahim disclosed that in the state, there are 19 Federal roads spanning 1,265 kilometers, while five of these roads are under rehabilitation; these Include Benin-Warri Road, Benin-Auchi Road, Auchi -Igarra-Ibillo Road, Ewu – Uromi Road and Illushi- Uromi Road.

Engr Ibrahim also disclosed that FERMA, as an agency only deals with rehabilitation of roads and not construction, stressing that it is the duty of Federal Ministry of works to undertake construction.

He explained that the remaining 13 roads are maintained by FERMA, stating that some of the roads are getting old; with the increasing amount of rainfall and higher traffic which they do not have the capacity to carry are some factors responsible for the deplorable state.

Rounding off the debate, the Speaker,  stated that the presence of FERMA is no longer felt in the state as it used to be.

He thereafter re-invited the federal controller of works to be at plenary on Tuesday next week to answer questions about the state of Federal Roads in the state.

Also at Plenary, a letter from the governor was read  by the Clerk of the house, Alhaji Yahaya Audu Omogbai on plans by the State government to raise a loan Facility from Sterling Bank  to the tune of 1.5 Billion Naira to maintain and rehabilitate Internal roads.

After debate, the Speaker, stated that with the incessant rainfall and deplorable state of roads, the 1.5Billion Naira loan facility is a welcome development and subsequently called on the Clerk to make clean copies available to relevant authorities.

Osun State Poly Protest

By Ayodele Oni

Surprised by the unceremonious removal of its Rector, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, chapter on Tuesday  trooped out  to protest against the suspension of, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo as the Rector of institution.

It was gathered that the protesting staff chanting solidarity songs barricaded the main campus entrance at Iree which left the students writing examination stranded.

Governor Ademola Adeleke had suspended Dr Odetayo on Monday  over alleged abuse of office and corruption.

This was contained in a statement signed by M.A.K Jimoh, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education.

According to the statement, Odetayo was suspended following allegations of financial recklessness, corruption, misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.

Reacting to the protest, the state government promised to investigate allegations against the suspended Rector and decide on appropriate action.

The statement reads, “The attention of the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has been drawn to the protests by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) of Osun State Polytechnic, (OSPOLY) Iree over the suspension of the Rector, Dr Tajudeen Adewale Adetayo.

“The Governor who is concerned about the reaction, urges all to remain calm and shun the protest which had led to closing the school gate, thereby disrupting the ongoing examination within the school.

“In a release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the Governor assured the ASUP and the Students of the institution that the matter will be looked into and necessary measures taken.

“The release added that OSPOLY Governing Board will soon be put in place to take over the matter and investigate the allegation which led to the suspension and take appropriate action as soon as possible.

“I understand the reason for the protest over the suspension of the Rector, Dr Tajudeen Adewale Adetayo. The step taken by the administration is necessary, but I assure you that full investigation will commence and every misunderstanding will be cleared.”

“I recognize the ASUP and I urge them to stop the protest, and allow investigation to hold for the matter to be sorted. Please do not allow yourself to be used by the opposition.

“You are important to the Government and the public. Please stop the protest and allow peace to be restored to the school community.”

Vaccination Of Cattle, Livestock Begins To Curb Spread Of Anthrax

Anthrax Disease

By Akinwale Kasali

To stop the Antrax disease from taking a deep root in Nigeria, the Federal Government  has ordered the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, to began a four-Week Mass Vaccination.

Ishaq Sadeeq, Acting Secretary of the Secretariat inaugurated the exercise in Paikon Kore Grazing Reserve, Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.

The mass vaccination exercise is targeting at least one million cattle across the six Area Councils of the FCT.

Sadeeq explained that the move became necessary following the confirmation of the disease in Suleja, Niger, one of the neighbouring states of the Federal capital.

FCTA Permanent Secretary, Olusade Adesola, approved the purchase of one million doses of the vaccine, which scientists have identified as the most effective way of preventing the disease.

He said that the vaccination exercise, which would last four weeks, would be carried out simultaneously across the 62 wards of the six Area Councils of the FCT.

He explained that the exercise was part of the FCT administration’s proactiveness and readiness to combat the disease.

“The FCT administration had since the announcement of the outbreak in Ghana earlier this year, carried out a series of outreach campaigns to sensitise residents, particularly livestock owners and butchers, about Anthrax disease.

“The sensitisation was to avail them with the knowledge of signs and symptoms, as well as effective measures they can adopt to protect themselves and their animals from contracting and spreading the disease,” he said.

He appealed for the co-operation of livestock owners with the veterinary health workers, to ensure the success of the exercise.

He equally advised livestock owners against selling or slaughtering any animal with visible symptoms of the disease, and report suspected cases to any of the FCT Veterinary Clinics.

“While our veterinary personnel have been put on alert to attend to any emergency cases, we will be working closely with the Health and Human Services Secretariat to attend to human cases involving livestock owners,” he added.

The Director of Veterinary Services, FCT, Regina Adulugba, described Anthrax as a “fatal disease” to both animal and humans, which can be contracted through open wounds, airborne and from consuming infected animals.

Adulugba said, “the best protection against the disease is vaccinating the animals and that is what we are here to do.

“It is deadly because it is zoonotic. Zoonotic means it can affect human and it can affect animals. So, it is dangerous, and it spreads by too many means.

“If you have a wounded skin, it can affect the wound and then infect the person, or it can spread even through the air, or it can spread from consumption of meat.

“That is why we advised them not to slaughter any sick animal for now.  If an animal is sick, they should allow it to die and then we see if it is positive.

“It is safer for them as cattle owners, their children and their families, because it can affect human and it is very deadly in human as it is deadly in animals.”

On his part, Malam Yahaya Isa, Chairman, Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), FCT Chapter, commended the FCTA for the proactive step.

Isa, who is also the Deputy National Secretary of the association, said that the move would not only protect livestock against the disease, but also save investment and human lives.

He commended the FCTA for being the first to take such a proactive step in the country to prevent further spread of the disease.

“The entire Fulani herders’ community are happy and are fully prepared to comply with arrangement.

“Our people are ready to cooperate with the officials everywhere. We have even mobilised in each area council, some group of youths to back them up wherever they are going,” he said.

Emefiele Granted N20m Bail; Court Accuses FG Of Lies

0

By Gideon Njoku

Embattled suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

Emefiele was arraigned before the Honourable Justice Nicholas Oweibo on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. The Judge granted him bail in the sum of N20m and one surety in like sum.

His Lawyer, Joseph Dauda, SAN, in arguing the bail application, said that his client has met all the conditions for bail hearing, and was not a flight risk. He pleaded that the persecution of his client be stopped.

The prosecution Lawyer, a Deputy Director from the Ministry of Justice, had argued against the hearing of the bail application, and insisted that she had not seen the application.

But the Judge put a lie to her claims and said the application, received and endorsed by the office of the Attorney General of the Federation was in the Court’s file. He, equally, rejected Government’s claim that Emefiele is a flight risk, and asked for proof.

He, therefore, granted the suspended CBN boss bail to the tune of N20m and one Surety in like sum.

Emefiele is being prosecuted in Court by the Federal Government on a two-count charge of being in possession of a single barrel shot gun (JOJEFF MAGNUM 8371) without a license on June 15, 2023.

The alleged offence, the Government said, is contrary to Section 4 of the Firearms Act 2004 and punishable under Section 27 (1b) of the same Act.

He is also being charged for being in possession of 123 rounds of live ammunition, contrary to Section 8 of the firearms Act 2004 and punishable under Section 27(1)(b)(il) of the same act.

Emefiele pleaded not guilty to both charges.

He was brought to Court in a Toyota Hilux van by officials of the Department of State Services, DSS. Casually dressed, Emefiele looked healthy but withdrawn.

Emefiele, 61, appointed CBN Governor on June 4, 2014 by the President Goodluck Jonathan Administration, served throughout the immediate past Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, was suspended from office on June 9. 2023, by the President Bola Tinubu Administration.  Emefiele, along with Tinubu, had aspired to the office of the President while still the CBN Governor under the ruling All ProgressivesCongress,  APC. He dropped out of the race before the Primaries

Emefiele arrested by the DSS immediately after his suspension from office, and has been in the Service’s custody since then.

It is to be seen if he would be released from custody or slammed with other charges.

While in Paris, France, on his first official visit outside Nigeria as President, Tinubu had publicly accused Emefiele, before the Nigerian Community, of messing up the CBN.
