Gombe LP Calls For Release Of Political Detainees Since 2021

By Ayodele Oni

Some detainees arrested in Gombe state in connection with a political crisis in the state since 2021 are still being held.

The Labour Party, (LP)  State gubernatorial candidate in the just concluded 2023 election, Keftin Amuga has pleaded with the State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, to release them in the spirit of the season.

The alleged detainees were arrested by security operatives following the breakdown of law and order during the  tussle between the presumed winner, Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamba, and the current occupier of the seat, Sanusi Maishanu.

The viral protest in 2021 by Billiri Local Government Area residents over the government’s perceived insistence on a defeated candidate led to the destruction of lives and property valued in millions of naira.

Amuga in a press statement on Saturday,  to felicitate with Christians in the yuletide, appealed to the governor to release those he described as ‘political prisoners of conscience’ over their involvement in the Mai Tangle debacle.

According to Amuga, their continued incarceration supports arguments that the All Progressives Congress, (APC) is anti-Christian.

The statement reads, “I wish to appeal to Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to kindly consider and release the political prisoners of conscience associated with the crisis over the appointment of Mai Tangle, who has been incarcerated since 2021.

“This heartfelt call is crucial to dispel any notion that the governor’s actions were religiously motivated to persecute the Christian Majority Tangale people.

“It is worth noting that the presumed candidate who secured the majority of votes, Dr. Musa Idris Maiyamba, received five out of the total nine votes, and all the detainees are of the Christian faith.

“Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, previously described the APC as a Muslim party with an Islamic agenda.”

Reflecting on such statements, the former gubernatorial candidate called on the governor to heed his plea to put to rest such misconceptions, calling on all elected and appointed politicians, regardless of primordial cleavages and partisanship, to join him in pleading with the governor,

“He should release these prisoners of conscience as a mark of respect and tolerance towards Christians during this significant Christmas season.

“By doing so, it creates an atmosphere of cordial religious tolerance and further enables these individuals to celebrate the occasion with their families.”

The LP candidate implored religious leaders, particularly Christian leaders, to join in the release of the detainees.

“Together, let us engage in soul-searching, thought-provoking, and prayerful Christmas and New Year celebrations.”

NANS Excited By Return Of Port Harcourt Refinery

By Ayodele Oni

The National Association of Nigeria has said that with the planned resumption of activities by the Port Harcourt Refinery, the country’s energy sector will be secured.

It lauded management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC), over the start of work at the refinery.

The students body said it is a vital step to revitalizing the nation’s oil and gas industry.

NANS, in a statement by the President of the Senate, Akinteye Afeez, noted that the refurbishment and commencement of work in the refinery would reduce the nation’s dependence on imported petroleum products.

Recall that the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr Heineken Lokpobiri said that the Port Harcourt refinery will commence production of petroleum products and gas after Christmas 2023 which will gradually bring down the galloping prices of petrol and gas.

“This milestone marks a significant step towards revitalizing our nation’s oil and gas sector and boosting our economy.

“The refurbishment and commencement of work at the refinery will not only create job opportunities but also contribute to reducing our reliance on imported petroleum products.

“Furthermore, I strongly believe this development showcases the commitment of the NNPC towards ensuring energy security and self-sufficiency for our great nation. Nigeria has always been a force to reckon with among its oil-producing counterparts.

“However, recent activities and events in the oil and gas sector, which include the increment in the prices of petroleum products, have reduced the confidence of Nigerians in the process.

It is therefore, a testament to the dedication and hard work of all those involved in making this project a reality, as they took it upon themselves as a challenge, as tasked by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to alleviate the suffering of the masses and increasing the oil revenues, the country generates.

“More so, I urge the NNPC boss to continue prioritizing the revitalization, modernization, and expansion of our refineries, as it will not only enhance our oil and gas infrastructure but also foster technological advancements and innovation in the sector.

“Conclusively, I urge well-meaning Nigerians to embrace this positive development and support the efforts of the NNPC in transforming Nigeria’s oil landscape. Together, we can achieve a brighter and more prosperous future.”

Edo state government, through the Sports Commission, and Bendel Insurance FC have Commiserate with Sunshine Stars Over Dosunmu’s Death

“The chairman, Edo state Sports Commission Olympian Yusuf Alli and management of Bendel Insurance FC have commiserated with the management and players of Sunshine Stars of Akure over the passing of their Assistant kit manager Taiwo Dosunmu.

“Dosunmu’s untimely death was announced this morning by the media officer of the Owena Waves Akintunde, saying that the passing of the young kit manager was confirmed at the early hours of today by the Doctors in charge of his case at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital(UBTH).

“He died at the Intensive Care Unit of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital  on Friday, December, 22, 2023.

“In the condolence message, the chairman of Edo Sports Commission Olympian Yusuf said that, he was in a sad mood.

“We are in a very sad mood right now. The death of that boy has spoiled my day. We in Bendel Insurance FC and Edo Sports Commission are mourning.

“We informed our Governor, His Excellency Mr Godwin Obaseki about the sad news this morning and he felt so bad about it.

“The governor did everything to support in trying to save his life by instructing the medical facility to provide the best care for the boy with a vow to take the medical bills off the Sunshine Stars.

“It is so unfortunate that despite all efforts, the boy could not make it. This is not good for Nigeria Football and the country.

“We also sympathize with the family of late Taiwo Dosunmu and we pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

The Edo Sports Commission boss however appealed to the Federal and State Government as well as the security operatives to redouble their efforts in combating the bad security situation on highways and in the country as a whole.

Recall that players and officials of  Sunshine Stars FC of Akure were attacked by unknown gunmen on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at about 5:15 PM on the Lagos-Ore-Benin Highway on their way to Benin City for the NPFL Match Day 13 engagement with Bendel Insurance FC.

The suspected armed robbery gang opened fire on Sunshine Stars’ official bus with the  assistant kit manager, Taiwo Dosunmu shot in his stomach while some other officials sustained varied degrees of injuries.

This prompted the Edo state Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki to play his fatherly role of paying the visitors’ medical bills and providing them with security Escort to take them back to Akure while Dosunmu remained at the intensive care unit of the UBTH till his death.

The horrible incident forced the rescheduling of the Bendel Insurance, Sunshine Stars game from Saturday to Sunday which the

Owena Waves lost gallantly by a lone goal at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin.

Rivers: “Mr President, Protect Constitution, Not Breach It Under Guise”

0

By Jibrin Samuel Okutepa, SAN

Nigerian politicians never cease to amaze me and right, thinking members of the international and national community. Yesterday, it was reported that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu brokered peace for the self-induced political problems in Rivers State.

It was stated that in one of the resolutions reached it was resolved that 27 law makers or law breakers  as I preferred to call them are to be allowed to returned to the Rivers State House of Assembly under their new party I guess and to be restored to their various positions before their defection to APC.

I asked if that resolution was constitutional. I do not think so.  Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, as of today, is  the president of Nigeria, whether anyone likes it or not. So, being President of Nigeria, he has a duty and responsibility to defend and protect the Nigerian Constitution and not to breach it in the guise of  political solutions to constitutional questions.

The defections of these 27  members of Rivers State House of Assembly may have been  politically motivated, but it carries with it grave Constitutional implications that can not be politically resolved.

First, their seats were declared vacant. The question of whether that declaration is right or wrong can not be solved by the president. That is not his duty.

It is the duty of the judiciary. The dispute in Rivers State has been turned over to the courts. Political class must allow the courts to resolve the dispute. For the president to accept and agreed that those who breached Nigerian constitution be given part on the back and then allowed to return to their seats sends grave and wrong signals to all that this president has capacity to ignore Nigerian Constitution. I do not think it is the right thing to do.

As I have always said, the problem of Nigeria is not law. The problem of Nigeria is Nigerian rulers who breached the law with impunity and then gathered themselves to find political solutions to further aggravate and breach the constitution to the annoyance and anger of Nigerian people.

I do not want to believe that President Tinubu does not know that his executive power does not extend to violating the Nigerian constitution. He does not need to continue to show bad examples. He should be bold enough to enforce the constitution of Nigeria. Any political solutions that breach the Nigerian constitution are unconstitutional and null and void and of no effect.

NIMASA, NSML To Train 150 Seafarers

0

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, has signed a training agreement with the Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas, NLNG Ship Management Limited, NSML, to facilitate Certificate of Competency, CoC, examinations for beneficiaries of the Nigerian Seafarers Development Program, NSDP.

The NSDP is a sponsored intervention programme being implemented by NIMASA to grow capacity of young Nigerians to be certified as seafarers with global recognition and acceptance, thus bridging the gap in the dearth of seafarers globally. The CoC examination is the final stage of the NSDP training, culminating in the acquisition of the CoC license which potentially opens the doors of global employment opportunities for the cadets.

Speaking at an induction ceremony by NSML for 50 of NIMASA’s Romanian trained NSDP beneficiaries , the NIMASA Director General, Bashir Jamoh , highlighted the success of the collaboration between both parties in fostering the development of Nigerian seafarers.

The NIMASA DG who was represented by the Agency’s Director Special Duties, Isichei Osamgbi, noted that NIMASA sincerely appreciates NSML for their leadership and vision in partnering the Agency to support the development of seafarers and promotion of our local content onboard their vessels. In his words “It is worthy of note that a good number of NSDP Officers trained onboard NSML vessels are now employed by the company. Today, we are proud to announce that 150 Romanian-trained NSDP cadets have concluded their mandatory onboard sea training and are ready to proceed for the Certificate of Competency (CoC) training and examinations. The signing of this Training Agreement between both parties resulting in the commencement of CoC for the first batch of Romanian trained cadets, will go a long way inensuring all backlogs of cadets awaiting CoCs are cleared”. He urged other organizations in the industry to take a cue from NSML and give opportunities to aspiring Nigerian seafarers to acquire knowledge and gain experiences to excel in the field.

The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, while speaking at the ceremony charged the lucky Cadets to be worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.

According to Dr. Ajani who was represented by Mrs. Ekanem Saila, a Deputy Director from the Ministry noted that the collaboration between NIMASA and NSML was a welcome development and the outcome of discussions which have been on for some time.

On his part, the Managing Director/CEO of NSML, Abdulkadir Ahmed, said the organisation is sponsoring 50 of the cadets to the South Shield Marine School in the UK for a 12 month programme to get their certificates of competency required to trade on vessels globally.

He said this is aimed at addressing the dearth of Nigerian seafarers on ocean going vessels and the need to meet indigenous manning requirements in Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage).

He stated that the training programme in the UK is the gold standard in maritime training, noting that with the certificate of competencies, the cadets will become qualified seafarers and work on any vessel globally.

“So our support here is really in coordinating and ensuring we actually support these cadets back to back because the goal is to ensure they come out with good Certificates of Competency and to ensure they have a career in the global shipping marine sector,” he stated.
Ahmed also noted that, with the emerging transition in the shipping and maritime industry, such as in energy and decarbonisation, which requires bringing in new technologies, it is important that seafarers continue to upgrade their skill sets and train on new technologies to be abreast of new developments.

Tinubu Says He’s Committed To A Better Nigeria

0

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says his government has started addressing the challenges faced by Nigerians.

The president’s pledge is contained on a statement signed by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

According to the president he has identified those problems, and has put in policies to take care of them, adding that he will ensure the unity of the country, as well as  the prosperity of her people.

Tinubu disclosed this while participating at the Jumaat organized by the Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque in Surulere, Lagos, on Friday.

The president stated that the policy thrust of his administration is focused on establishing a prosperous Nigeria now and in the future.

‘’We are committed to enthroning a better society for our citizens irrespective of ethnic, religious, or geographical differences. The various policies already in place are expected to bring great succor to our people. We know their pains, and we are addressing them holistically,” President Tinubu said.

Anti-People Policy: Obi Decries Demolition of 200 Homes For Presidential Fleet

0
Peter Obi

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the last general election in February 2023, Peter Obi has decried the planned demolition of about 200 houses to pave the way for the Presidential Fleet.

Obi said in his X handle on Thursday that the Presidential Fleet is anti-people and should not take precedence over the poor citizens.

According to Obi, a country that the World Bank just confirmed that over 100 million citizens are being sent into poverty, should avoid any policy that could aggravate the situation.

“I am shocked by the recent report of the planned demolition of about 200 houses in the Nuwalege community in Abuja, to make way for the Presidential Fleet.

“I am again pained that we are embarking on such an inconsiderate project at this critical time when the country is going through untold hardship. I would like to reiterate that at this time, our preoccupation should be how to do away with the Presidential or reduce it to the minimum, to cut costs and save up for more critical projects to help the people, instead of demolishing people’s homes.

“A country where the World Bank announced that over 100 million citizens are being pushed into poverty, should not at this time be sending hundreds of people into homelessness to accommodate the

Presidential fleet of luxury aircraft. We need to focus instead on how to lessen the pain and suffering of poor people.

“We cannot continue to encourage those who have kept us suffering to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle far beyond our legitimate means. A democratically elected people-oriented government must always care for the people, above itself.

“I, therefore, advise that we have a rethink, and most importantly, ensure that our fellow Nigerians are not rendered homeless for the sake of an unproductive presidential fleet.

“We should rather focus on helping the people and developing our critical sectors for the sake of our national peace, progress, and development. No nation grows or develops by subjecting the people to avoidable inconveniences to accommodate the luxurious excesses of its rulers. -PO

Obi Questions The Sincerity Of The FG’s 50% Christmas Transport Largesse

0
Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the February 2023 poll, Peter Obi doubts the sincerity of the federal government in announcing some largesse for commuters across the country as part of the yuletide.

In his X-handle platform, Obi said on Thursday “I read the reports of the President’s approval of a 50 percent slash in the price of interstate transport fare for Nigerians traveling during this Yuletide from Thursday 21, 2023 to January 4, 2024. The news reports added that the President also approved free rides for commuters on all train services within the period.

“If fully implemented, as reported, I consider this first-time intervention of the government, intended to help the masses, a step in the right direction. However, the major concern about such emergency measures is what follows afterward. The high cost of transportation and associated hardships are all well known. The question this seasonal palliative raises is that of what happens after the festive season. Is there a sustainable policy measure to cushion the masses from the current high transportation costs? Even the current effort comes with operational challenges. Millions of people have already traveled bearing the brunt and huge costs of such travels. How will such people get their refunds or be compensated?

“Following the government’s announcement of a 50% discount on interstate transport fare for Nigerians, I have taken time to inquire into the implementation mechanics across different cities but I have been disappointed.

“Today, I sent out contacts who consulted widely with the transporters in major parks across the country: in Abuja, they carried out an on-the-spot investigation in Jabi/Utako areas; in Lagos, they visited major parks like Jibowu, Festac, Mile 12, Ajah, and Mazamaza and none of the transporters in these parks was aware of this 50% discount. At Upper Iweka, Onitsha, which is the main traffic hub in Anambra, and in other parts of the country like; Kano, Aba, Kaduna, Owerri, and Gombe, the story is the same.

The government has again announced the few transport companies chosen to participate in the intervention for which 28 Routes have been designated. There are no announced forms of checks and balances to ensure that the transporters follow the terms of the contract.

There are obvious questions about the integrity of this intervention effort. One expects that such a policy that strives to appeal to the broad masses, especially the downtrodden, deliberate and concrete arrangements should be made, with transport companies.

“I pray that this is not yet another spin to curry favor in the media space after appetizing the people. The Nigerian people are going through untold hardship and the government must not remain insensitive to their sufferings.

“Compassion on the part of the government is a good thing, but it should not be an avenue for exploiting the weak structures of government to encourage less-than-transparent policy implementation. -PO”

Police Staff College Jos: 50 Years Of History, Tradition, And Resilience

0
Solomon Arase

By Solomon Arase

Nestled atop the picturesque plateau of Jos, the Police Staff College commands a unique vantage point, surrounded by the undulating highlands that characterize the region. Jos, with its elevated terrain, not only offers a breath-taking panorama but also provides a serene and inspiring backdrop for the training of the nation’s law enforcement officers. The College, akin to a sentinel overlooking the highlands, has become an integral part of Jos’s landscape, symbolizing resilience and commitment

  1. Adding to the College’s distinctive history are the anecdotes of its creation, woven into the fabric of its architecture. Crafted by Canadian architects and structural engineers, the institution stands as a testament to the international collaboration that birthed its edifice. The marriage of Canadian design expertise with the unique landscape of Jos is a story etched into the College’s foundations, mirroring the synergy required in the realm of law enforcement. Just as the highlands shape the terrain of Jos, the Canadian influence in the College’s architecture enriches its character, creating a harmonious blend of global craftsmanship and local context.
  1. In the enchanting landscape surrounding the Police Staff College Jos, the chirping of birds becomes a harmonious anecdote, weaving itself into the very fabric of the institution’s daily life. Picture the sun-kissed mornings as officers gather for training sessions, the gentle symphony of birdsong acting as a natural overture to the day’s endeavors. As cadets engage in outdoor exercises or gather in contemplation, the spirited chirping of birds serves as a constant companion, punctuating the air with a vibrant melody. It’s as if the feathered inhabitants of the lush surroundings have become honorary participants in the College’s commitment to excellence, their songs a testament to the harmonious coexistence between the institution and the natural world.
  1. In the quiet moments, when the hum of activity subsides, the sounds of nature take center stage. The rustle of leaves, the distant murmur of a breeze, and the soft chirping of birds create a soothing backdrop. These moments, often occurring in the serene corners of the College, serve as a gentle reminder of the interconnectedness between the academic pursuits within the institution and the serene beauty that envelops it. This unique blend, like a tale whispered through the corridors, adds a layer of distinction to the College’s narrative, making it not only a center for learning but a symbol of cultural collaboration and architectural finesse. The Police Staff College Jos draws its inspiration from renowned institutions abroad, including the Police Staff College Brams Hill, West-Yorkshire Police Training and Development Centre Bradfield, and City Metropolitan Police Handel, all located in England.
  1. This strategic modeling has allowed the College to seamlessly blend international best practices with the specific needs and challenges of the Nigerian context. IGP Kam Salem’s foresight in establishing the College marked a pivotal moment in the nation’s law enforcement history. With a focus on training officers in both operational and strategic cadres, the institution aimed to create a cadre of police officers equipped not only with technical skills but also with a profound understanding of their roles as guardians of justice and public safety. The Police Staff College Jos has been a crucible of learning, where officers undergo rigorous training, not just in the technical aspects of law enforcement but also in the values that define a true custodian of the law.
  1. As the Police Staff College Jos commemorates its remarkable fiftieth-year milestone, it stands not merely as a passive witness to the relentless march of time but as a living testament to a legacy intricately woven with threads of history, tradition, and unwavering resilience. Picture, if you will, the College’s journey akin to a seasoned storyteller, narrating tales of steadfast dedication and monumental achievements. Within the hallowed halls of this venerable institution, each corner echoes with stories etched in the annals of law enforcement education. Officers, past and present, have walked the corridors, imbibing not only knowledge but also the ethos of a profession noble in its pursuit of justice.
  1. The celebration of fifty years is not just a reflection on the years gone by; it is a recognition of the indelible mark the College has left on the character and capabilities of over sixty-five thousand police officers and personnel from other security agencies that have passed through its gates. The College has played a pivotal role in shaping the professional landscape of the Nigerian Police Force. The training curriculum, designed with precision, encompasses a spectrum of subjects, including criminal law, community policing, crisis management, and the latest advancements in technology relevant to law enforcement. The emphasis on continuous learning ensures that officers remain at the forefront of contemporary policing methodologies, positioning them to address the evolving challenges of a dynamic society.
  1. Time, like an unrelenting force, has woven its threads through the architectural tapestry of the Police Staff College Jos. The elevated plateau, once a pristine canvas for Canadian architects and structural engineers to leave their mark, now bears the subtle scars of weathering and the passage of seasons. Nature, with its quiet persistence, has added its strokes, reminding us that even the most resilient structures are not immune to the gentle erosion of time. As the highlands surrounding the College stand witness to the changing landscape, a similar transformation has unfolded within its walls. The once-vibrant hostel facilities, accommodations for senior officers, inspectors, and non-commissioned officers, and lecture arenas, have fallen victim to the wear and tear inflicted by both time and nature. The echoes of architectural grandeur, envisioned by those who laid the foundation, now resonate amidst the aging structures, silently pleading for restoration and rejuvenation.
  1. The imperative for continuous improvement has never been more apparent. The College, a guardian of knowledge and professionalism, finds itself at a crossroads where the call for overhauling facilities is not just a desire but a necessity. The need to renovate accommodations, modernize lecture arenas, and create a conducive environment for optimal learning is paramount. The resilience of the College, showcased through its acknowledgment of these challenges, is a testament to its commitment to providing a space that fosters both professional growth and optimal learning experiences.
  1. In recognizing the need for change, the College stands ready to reclaim its architectural glory. It beckons not only for restoration but for a revival that transcends the limitations imposed by time and nature. The story of the Police Staff College Jos is not one of surrender to decay but a call to action—a call to breathe new life into the edifices that have weathered storms, both literal and metaphorical. It is a plea to stakeholders, custodians of knowledge, and those who hold the future of law enforcement in their hands. The legacy of the College, shaped by its history, traditions, and resilience, calls for a collective effort to preserve and enhance the architectural foundation upon which its educational mission stands.
  1. With heartfelt gratitude, we extend our sincere appreciation to the individuals and organizations whose unwavering commitment and collaborative efforts have brought about the transformative celebration we embrace today. In particular, we express our deepest thanks to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Security Sector Reform Foundation (GS-Foundation), working in conjunction with PORTO, CLEEN Foundation, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President. Their collective dedication has resulted in the commendable refurbishment of the Central Planning and Training Unit (CPTU) under the auspices of the Supporting Police Reform Processes in Nigeria (SPRPiN) project.
  1. As the College embarks on the journey towards revitalization, it invites all who share in its vision to contribute to the restoration of its architectural brilliance. It is a call to action to bridge the gap between the past and the future, ensuring that the physical embodiment of the institution reflects the enduring spirit that has defined it for half a century. Together, let us renew the commitment to excellence and create an environment where the next generation of law enforcement officers can thrive, learn, and carry forth the legacy of the Police Staff College Jos.
  1. Amidst the current challenges faced by the Police Staff College Jos, lies a trove of untapped benefits waiting to be harnessed through strategic digitalization. With an expansive capacity to host a thousand course participants, the College possesses the latent power to revolutionize police service delivery not only within local communities but across the entire Nigerian landscape. Leveraging its rich history of training officers from West African countries, the institution is poised to emerge as a pivotal regional hub for the advancement of law enforcement education.
  1. To unlock this potential fully, there is a critical need for the establishment of a robust E-learning Centre and Data Infrastructure within the College’s premises. Such an initiative would not only address existing challenges but also position the institution at the forefront of technological advancements in law enforcement education. The integration of ICT would usher in an era of heightened connectivity, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making, thereby bolstering the College’s role as a trailblazer in the field.
  1. As we envision the future of the Police Staff College Jos, the horizon gleams with the promise of international collaboration and knowledge exchange. Envision a scenario where the College becomes a magnet for exchange programs with key police colleges worldwide. This initiative, akin to inviting guests into a richly adorned tapestry of learning, holds the potential to infuse new perspectives, methodologies, and international best practices into the very fabric of the College’s curriculum.
  1. The Police Staff College Jos, extending beyond its academic role, serves as a dynamic hub for inter-agency synergy. Offering courses not only to the Police but also to the Military, EFCC, Immigrations, Customs, Civil Defence, NIA, and other security agencies, the College fosters collaboration in its classrooms. For decades, it has hosted personnel from various agencies, particularly in the biannual Advance Detective Course, becoming a crucible of shared experiences, unraveling complexities, and collectively addressing multifaceted challenges. In these shared spaces, the College stands as a catalyst for collaboration, forging bonds among diverse arms dedicated to safeguarding the nation.
  1. As the College celebrates its golden jubilee, it does not merely mark the passage of time but stands as an embodiment of institutional wisdom, resilience, and adaptability. It beckons the future with arms wide open, inviting not only the promise of international exchange but also the harmonious blending of diverse agencies into a unified force against the challenges of contemporary law enforcement. The Police Staff College Jos is not just an institution; it is a living narrative, an ongoing epic where the chapters written thus far lay the foundation for an even more illustrious future.
  1. As the curtains fall on the illustrious fifty-year journey of the Police Staff College Jos, the institution stands not only as a commemoration of the past but as a living testament to a legacy forged in the crucible of history, tradition, and unwavering resilience. As we behold the College standing tall, its foundations strengthened by the trials of the past, we are met with a resounding affirmation—a celebration not just of milestones but of a profound and enduring commitment to shaping the guardians of tomorrow.
  1. In contemplating the next fifty years, we are met with the realization that the journey ahead is rife with potential and possibilities waiting to be unfurled. The rejuvenation, renovation, digitalization, and upgrading of facilities emerge not as mere initiatives but as catalysts for a transformative evolution. These endeavors are not just about preserving the legacy but about enhancing and enriching it, ensuring that the Police Staff College Jos remains at the forefront of the nation’s security architecture.
  1. The College, standing at the threshold of a new era, is ready to face the future not just with resilience but with renewed vigor. Its commitment to excellence, akin to a beacon guiding the way, establishes it as a cornerstone in the monumental task of shaping the guardians who will safeguard the nation’s integrity and uphold the ideals of justice and service to the Nigerian people.
  1. As we cast our gaze forward, the promise of continued evolution beckons—a future where the Police Staff College Jos transcends its national borders and assumes a pivotal role on the global stage. The rejuvenated institution, with upgraded facilities and a commitment to harnessing the latest in technological advancements, positions itself not just as a national asset but as a beacon of international excellence in law enforcement education.
  1. Long live the Police Staff College Jos.23. Long live the Nigeria Police Force.24. In the words of the great Tai Solarin “May your road be rough”
