OPINION: ‘Time To Grab Opportunities In Livestock Noise’

The age-long challenge of ‘information overload’ is beginning to affect us in this part of the world and our leaders at all levels are exploiting it to prevent people from deepening understanding of the multifarious challenges they daily ignore in the context of their primary responsibility – security and welfare of the people.

Yes, ‘information overload’, that blight, which can be seen as the excess information available to a person aiming to complete a task or make decision. This new challenge to mankind, which now impedes the decision-making process, daily results in poor (or even no) decision being made – on issues of urgent national importance. In Nigeria, we need to be wary of this virus that Alvin Toffler, a futurist warned about since 1970.

If we would like to understand the clog,  “information overload” here is the beginning: In the 1970 book, “Future Shock” by author and futurist Alvin Toffler, he said future shock is, “the dizzying disorientation brought on by the premature arrival of the future. It may well be the most important disease of tomorrow”.

BBC’s Matt Novak, a features correspondent, had earlier noted that there is no denying Toffler’s international influence on the way we think about the future. His words: “I have seen Future Shock in virtually every used bookstore I have visited from Portland, Oregon to Cartagena, Colombia. With over six million copies sold, it clearly struck a nerve in 1970 and beyond. Toffler explains in the book that, “just as the body cracks under the strain of environmental overstimulation, the “mind” and its decision processes behave erratically when overloaded.”

In a radio interview shortly after the release of his book, Toffler warned that the exhaustion he saw throughout the world was tied to his new future shock theory. “I think there’s a tremendous undercurrent of dissatisfaction in America; people saying I want out, it’s moving too fast, it’s moving away from me; a sense of panic; a sense that things are slipping out of control and I don’t think that there’s much we can do in our personal lives to counteract that,” he said.

Toffler’s assumption was that the future is something that happens to us, rather than with us. It is something out of our control that will inevitably overwhelm us”.

The same BBC’s Novak had in the same 2012 warned that the ‘information overload’ he was deconstructing was getting “out of control”. He added then that “Whilst some will take comfort in Toffler’s words, some of the notions seem rather quaint forty years later. Just as people today throw around the number of tweets sent per second or the amount of video watched online, in the early 1970s Toffler followers and techno-reactionaries liked to scatter their own figures to show the magnitude of the problem…”

In the same Futurist essay that decried the rise of the number of TV channels, the author Ben Bagdikian went on to overwhelm readers with even more daunting numbers, explaining that computers would sooner than later be able to store information at a rate of 12 million words a minute, whilst printers would be able to pump out 180,000 words a minute; something that would collide violently with humanity’s ability to process information.

It was a warning that we still hear today in many contexts. For example, author Jonathan Franzen, an opponent of electronic books, argues that traditional paper tomes give humanity some much needed stability in a world rocked by change. He fears that this rapid pace is hurting us. His words: “Seriously, the world is changing so quickly that if you had any more than 80 years of change I don’t see how you could stand it psychologically”.

These men who saw tomorrow then had advised that we should “accept change”.

Yet history seems to suggest we ride these waves of change.

Toffler, Bagdikian and Franzen are not necessarily wrong or even alarmist in their concerns that we should seek to control our own technological destinies. But to Novak, futility should not win the argument. The argument here is that our consumption of media is largely within our control. We have a choice in the matter. We can change the channel, turn off the TV, or close the laptop lid. These are our choices, and it is hard to see how any of them are irrational or happening to us rather than with us.

That seems to be the therapy we can’t apply to manage the change construct we now face in Nigeria.

Which is why I think the information overload is already affecting us and state actors in our milieu are exploiting this mind-boggler to underserve and confuse us with their distracting propaganda, misinformation and disinformation, so regularly. Some of the operatives deployed on various social media platforms by some state actors, dealers, sorry leaders use tragi-comic weapons of mass deceptions. Some other hatchet writers, whose god is their belly, employ some subterfuge approach to overload and feed our spirit with material that can prevent us from seeing available opportunities that Asians and even Middle Easterners are exploring and exploiting in Africa’s most populous nation. We need to deal with this overload that daily blurs our visions and diminishes our performance indices, our efficiency and effectiveness.

Doubtless, we are being daily fed with frivolous pieces of negative pieces of information overload about our place in the world of knowledge development. What we can easily access now is the number of federal, state and private universities. We can’t access data on how these numerous universities have been affecting our knowledge development and indeed our intellectual capacity to solve our current enormous challenges.

At press time, even in the media, we didn’t know who and what to believe about Aliko Dangote’s $20 billion worth of modern Refinery where more than one hundred journalists spent about eleven hours on facility tours last Sunday.

Dangote told the journalists last Sunday that he actually paid a whopping $100 million to the Lagos State Government for the sprawling ‘Dangote’s Planet’ Plots of Land in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. He confirmed to the aristocracy of the Nigerian media across platforms that from next month, he would have capacity to begin commercial distribution of PMS among others. Before journalists could ask Lagos State Government for confirmation about the use of the $100 million worth of Title Deeds (Certificate of Occupancy) Dangote confirmed the then Governor Babatunde Fashola handed  him, another information load had filtered in from the petroleum industry regulators, which suggested that Dangote might not be able to operate the refinery he claimed was ready.

At the weekend, we were told that the Refinery was only 45 % complete and that the licence to commence commercial production hadn’t been given him, even though he had begun partial distribution of diesel. Anyway, let us wait for more fireworks and more information load(ing) from some principalities and powers who had actually begun to spread some “well written” bad verses on the Dangore Refinery to the effect that, “the Dangote Refinery is a scam”, after all.

‘Let’s talk about livestock business’

Anyway, what I actually wanted to write on is the information overload on the Livestock Sub-sector I began to comment upon last week as a companion/commemorative piece on iconic Wole Soyinka @ 80.

Recall this: I had then averred that the President who had just then proclaimed creation of Livestock Ministry from a February 2023 Report and Blueprint inspired by a former Governor of Kano State, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje had stoked another fire of controversy that instantly put the Funani on a line of fire.

Recall also that I had then suggested that the president’s information and re-orientation managers should organise a strategic national re-orientation campaign to deal with the negative perception that the new Livestock Ministry must have triggered.

So today, I would like to begin a serial on the limitless opportunities that the Livestock Subsector offers all of us instead of the challenges that the mere mention of Livestock business offers via information overload.

And here is the thing, we need to deepen our understanding that Livestock subsector is much more than cattle rearing by the Fulani. Behold, one of our leaders and specifically Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had gone ahead of the President’s creation of the Livestock Ministry to show example through strategic revival of Fashola Farm and Ranch near Iseyin, Oyo State. This isn’t a campaign for Governor Makinde, who just revived a Ranch the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo actually established as Premier of Western Region. It is a verifiable testament to possibilities and opportunities in Agriculture Business of which Livestock is a subsector. It is just a way of drawing our attention to some challenges we harp on, which Indians, Chinese and Lebanese investors see as opportunities in our country.  I mean we often feed our spirit with so much negativity through the obnoxious information overload so much that we can hardly recognise that sometimes we need to look at the ‘burning bush’ that isn’t ‘consuming the bush’ yet. The way I see this is that we may not be able to change the way the current President has been running the country. He doesn’t seem to be a leader that would study the implications of the proverbial “burning bush” that isn’t consuming the bush yet. He isn’t likely to change anytime soon no matter the number of open letters we write to him daily on the need to change strategy. But there is some solace in the words of Alan Paton in his classic, “Cry The Beloved Country”: “When the storm threatens, a man is afraid for his house. But when the house is destroyed, there is something to do. About the storm, he can do nothing, but he can rebuild a house…” That is where we are, no thanks to the presidential system that hands four years to any winner of our presidential election. We can look for opportunities in the challenges the governance system creates for us. And one of such challenges is the Livestock Subsector. Even as we discuss why the President should not have created another Ministry out of the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, let’s look at the seeds of time in the Livestock Subsector and detect the ones that can flourish in the land of our birth. That livestock Sub-sector is too important to be left to the President and Fulani alone. Let’s borrow some brilliance from Governor Makinde and his ‘Animal Farm’ in Fashola, near Iseyin. Let’s look at some architecture in the Livestock ruins.

Disregard Any News Of “Giveaways” In My Name – Obi To Nigerians

The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has alerted Nigerians to false promises of online “giveaways” in the form of cash gifts, recharge cards, and other material items, which are being fraudulently advertised in his name by unidentified individuals.

In a statement released to the media and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, Obi clarified that he is not involved in any such schemes targeting unsuspecting Nigerians.

Obi emphasized that he does not participate in sharing freebies online. Instead, he is focused on working for the nation’s betterment by investing in critical areas such as health, education, and poverty alleviation.

He noted that these fraudulent schemes have increased as his birthday approached, with many promising substantial birthday packages in his name to deceive innocent Nigerians.

“I thank my fellow Nigerians for their kind thoughts and prayers during my birthday on July 19, 2024. However, as I mentioned on my X account, I redirected all the resources I would have used for celebrations into critical areas of health, education, and poverty alleviation. I am not involved in any birthday giveaways being circulated online,” Obi stated.

He urged Nigerians to remain law-abiding and prayerful for God’s divine intervention in the nation, while reiterating his commitment to building a New Nigeria.

The President General of the Abia State  Amalgamated Traders Association ASMATA, Sir Alphonsus Udeigbo, has thumbed up Governor Alex Otti, for exhibiting rare doggedness and commitment towards ensuring the establishment of a Federal College of Education in the state ,32 years after its creation.

This is just as he described the recent disbursement of an interest-free loan to 10,000 Small Scale business operators as a major catalyst towards fast tracking the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, of the State.

At an interactive session with the Media in Aba on Friday July ,19 2024, Udeigbo noted that the injection of N 1 billion as zero interest loan to traders, and small scale business owners  into the economy will no doubt increase commercial activities, shore up internally generated revenue and enhance the growth and development of Abia State.

This, in addition to the now prompt and regular payments of salaries of public servants, will potentially impact positively on the fortunes of traders across the state,Chief Udeigbo noted. .

” On the face value ,the empowerment of 10,000 business operators ,will in no small measure boost the GDP, and when you consider that now the purchasing power of  civil servants has been increase through prompt and regular payments of salaries , you will no doubt believe that economy of the state surely will witness a rejuvenation process.

We, the Abia traders, are happy with the development on two fronts. One ,traders ,our members have been empowered to increase the volume of their activities.

“I stand to be corrected ,until now ,Abia was the only state in Nigeria that did not have a Federal College of Education.

“Besides, it was only last year or so that we began to hear of a Federal Polytechnic Umunneochi Abia State ..We are happy that this embarrassing situation has come to an end courtesy of the commitment of the present administration .

“At least, civil servants ,other public officials, traders, business operators and others desirous to further their education don’t need to go far any more.

MURIC Seeks Freedom For Traditional Rulers, Urges National Assembly To Strip Governors Power To Dethrone

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged the National Assembly to strip State Governors of the power to dethrone Traditional Rulers in their States.

This is just as the National Assembly (NASS) embarks on constitutional amendments to reform the local government system in Nigeria.

This position was tabled on Friday, 19th July, 2024 by the Founder and Executive Director of MURIC, Prof Ishaq Akintola.

“The National Assembly (NASS) is recently considering the amendment of the constitution to create an independent commission that will take charge of local government elections.

“This is a laudable move as it will engender transparency in local government elections while it sets the exercise free from interference by state governors.

“However, MURIC is inviting the NASS to go the whole hog by rescuing traditional rulers from the present cul de sac in which the Nigerian political culture has thrown them.

“The traditional stool has become the most unsafe, extremely unstable and categorically unreliable post in present day Nigeria.

“Emirs, Obas and Obis have become endangered species. They are being exploited, labeled and dumped by successive regimes at the state level.

“No traditional ruler in the country is free from the excessive arm-twisting and tyrannical manipulations of the governors.

“Every state governor craves, demands and enforces the loyalty of all the traditional rulers in his state and any of the monarchs who fails to follow the governor’s wishes will be labeled as disloyal.

“Such a traditional ruler stands the risk of being deposed and banished to the most remote village in the state.

“This is why traditional rulers under any governor try to please the latter. It is mere self-preservation method.

“They have no choice. It is therefore paradoxical that the governor’s successor often sees the traditional ruler as a rebel particularly if the next governor is from a different political party.

“He seeks to punish the traditional ruler whom he met on the throne for being loyal to the former governor. They never consider the circumstances.

“The vicious cycle continues from one regime to the other and the traditional ruler never knows when he will be kicked out. He is always at the mercy of the governor.

“State governors have politicized the monarchy and bastardized the traditional system. We charge the NASS to come to their rescue.

“We are not saying traditional rulers are angels. But their cane should not be in the hands of vengeful politicians. In view of the fact that the traditional system has a method for picking its candidates, we should allow that same system to constitute its own checks and balances.

For instance, the kingmakers and the state council of traditional rulers are always there. These two bodies can discipline erring traditional rulers by imposing fine, suspension and even dethronement as deemed fit.*

“We therefore appeal to our honourable lawmakers in the NASS to save Nigerian traditional rulers by amending or outrightly adding new clauses in relevant sections of the constitution to fortify traditional rulers from dethronement..

“It is only this period of constitutional amendments that this kind of reform in chieftaincy laws throughout the country can be holistically executed.

“No state governor can manipulate the state’s legislature to change it once the NASS has passed it and the president signs it into law.

“The law will also become binding on all governors because Section 1(i,ii&iii) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria already affirms the supremacy of the constitution.

“It stipulates that no other law shall prevail on the constitution and that any rule, regulation, statute, etc that contravenes it shall be rendered null and void.

“We have taken this issue to the NASS because it is cumbersome if each state is to embark on the exercise piecemeal, but it can be tackled holistically once and for all from the center by having it embedded in the country’s constitution.

*“It is the only way the theory of the separation of powers can effectively operate at the grassroot level. We are of the humble opinion that in our African setting, the theory, which is usually restricted to the executive, the judiciary and the legislature, should be extended further to embrace the traditional system.”

Ekiti: Traditional Rulers Assure Support For Gov Oyebanji’s Programmes

Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Ayorinde Ilori Faboro, has expressed the readiness of monarchs in the State to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji in the realization of his progressive vision for the citizens.

Oba Faboro, who is the Olojudo of Ido Ekiti, said his colleague royal fathers are profoundly appreciative of Governor Oyebanji’s genuine commitment to the development of the state .

The First Class Traditional Ruler spoke, on Friday while playing host to the Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye, who paid a courtesy visit to the monarch’s palace in Ido Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the State.

Applauding the government for being inclusive, Oba Faboro maintained that the traditional rulers are appreciative of the governor, for placing high premium value on the welfare of Ekiti citizens.

Specifically, the traditional ruler praised Governor Oyebanji for making requisite sacrifices for the progress of the state.

“All the traditional rulers value the culture of humility that you are bringing back and the one being displayed by our governor, Biodun Oyebanji and the Deputy Governor.

“Most importantly, we value your perfect and genuine commitments to the development of our state.

“Let me say clearly here, all the Kabiyesis are happy and you can see the prevailing situation in Ekiti, we are all relaxed and happy that this is our government. We have progressed and we have the evidence everywhere.

“We are happy with the way this government has been respecting all our royal fathers, we are indeed very grateful for this show of love and respect”, the monarch said.

Reacting, Mrs Afuye, declared that Oyebanji’s administration values the strategic and invaluable roles being played by traditional rulers to foster peace, stability and unity among Ekiti residents.

Mrs Afuye, in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, said most precious and outstanding among their roles, was the help being rendered to coordinate the locals against those, who wanted to make Ekiti unsafe for investors and predispose citizens to unwarranted insecurity.

Appreciating Ekiti monarchs for their solid backings for the governor, Mrs Afuye, appealed to them to ensure peace and unity in their respective domains, for the aggressive actions being taken to expand the frontiers of development to all communities come to fruition.

Two Incumbent Deputy Governors Reign In Edo, As Reinstated Shaibu Makes Fresh Appointments

Constitutional Crisis is imminent in Edo state as the reinstated Deputy Governor of the State, Philip Shaibu, announced his resumption of duty with appointment of some key aides to serve in his office.

The State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, had, while reacting to the judgement which returned Shaibu maintained that it would not stand.

Obaseki stated that “The present Deputy Governor, Mr Godwins Marvellous Omobayo remains the Deputy Governor of the State pending the hearing and determination of an appeal against the judgement of the Court of first instance.

“The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government of Edo State specifically said that it has filed a stay of execution on the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja which nullified the impeachment of Philip Shaibu as deputy governor.

In a statement on Friday on the letter headed paper of the Edo state Deputy Governor’s office, the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State, approved the reappointment of several officials to key positions in his office. The appointments, which take immediate effect, are as follows:

“Hon. Kingsley Ehigiamusor has been reappointed as the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Governor. Comrade Musa Ebomhiana will continue to serve as the Chief Press Secretary, while Hon. Emmanuel Akhaba has been retained as the Senior Special Assistant.

“Additionally, Mustapha Lawal will continue in his role as the Senior Special Assistant (Omokpo), and Charles Olubayo has been reappointed as a Senior Special Assistant. Mathias Akhanemhe, Comrade Robinson Akhenoba, and Robert Ojele have been reappointed as Special Assistants.”

It added that: “This decision by the Deputy Governor underscores his commitment to maintaining a stable and experienced team to support him in his duties.

“The reappointment of these officials is seen as a testament to their competence and the confidence the Deputy Governor has in their abilities to contribute to the progress of Edo State.”

Tinubu: Ndume Remains Defiant, Rejects Senate Comm Appointment

Sacked Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate, Ali Ndume has remained defiant despite his sack by the upper chamber of the legislature.

The Senator representing Borno North in the Senate was removed from his position after criticising the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying his government has been hijacked by some powerful forces in his government.

The Senator had described the All Progressives Congress, APC, federal government as ‘Kleptocracy’, that is detached from many Nigerians who are suffering due to the hostile economic situation in the country.

The remark earned him the sack as Senate Chief Whip, aside from losing his vantage position as the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.

His demotion followed a letter written to the APC Senate Caucus signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje and Ajibola Bashiru last week.

Speaking to journalists in Maiduguri, the state capital on Friday, Ndume said he has no regret for speaking  truth to power. He said he will criticised the Tinubu administration over and over again until there is a change.

According to him, he got the position of Chief Whip through the help of God, and as a patriotic Nigerian he will continue to stand by the country no matter what happens to him.

Ndume said: ” I had wanted to react, but because I was mourning since the day I was illegally removed as Chief Whip of the Senate, I now deem it feet to do so.

” I am a Democrat and a realist, and someone who always says the truth no matter whose Ox is gored.

“According to former US President, Mr. Theodore Roosevelt, and I quote ‘Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president or any other public official, save exactly to the degree in which he stands by the country. It is patriotic to support him insofar as he efficiently serves the country. It is unpatriotic not to oppose him to the exact extent that by inefficiency or otherwise, he fails in his duty to stand by the country. In either event, it is unpatriotic not to tell the truth, whether about the president or anyone else’.

“Therefore, I do not regret what I said during my interview with Arise TV, I thank all Nigerians who took to their Social Media Platforms and groups who issued a press statement aligning with my statement regarding excruciating hunger and insecurity under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Secondly, the NWC of our great party, APC recommended to the Senate that I should be removed which they did, I took that as an Act of God, because, it is “God that gave me that mandate as Chief Whip, so I bear no grudges about what transpired, after all I do not contest to be the Chief Whip or to be the Vice Chairman of the Appropriation Committee. Rather, I contested to be a senator representing Southern Borno and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“So is not that am desperate, I am over 64 years now, and I thank God. As for the Chairman Senate Committee on Tourism offered to me, I want to say that, I am not a Tourist and not good in Tourism, as it is, I have spent over 10 years without going to any Foreign countries, I have never been to United Kingdom, even United States of America which I went was when I was schooling there.”

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, has appealed to non indigenes to shun any acts capable of breaching the peace and stability of the State.

The newly assigned Kano State Police Chief who made the  call on Thursday July 18 ,during his familiarization meeting with ethnic minority traditional rulers in the commercial centre of the North ,also acknowledged the important roles the community leaders play in maintaining peace and security in the society.

CP Garba assured of Police readiness and commitment towards protecting the lives and property of all residents of the state .

The Kano State Police Spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement said the command’s parley with the traditional leaders from  Igbo, Yoruba and other ethnic nationalities is in line with its resolve to nip in the bud all activities with the potential of disrupting the fragile peace  in kano state.

Speaking on behalf of the ethnic minority traditional leaders Eze Igbo Kano ,Igwe Boniface Ibekwe, while appreciating the Commissioner of Police for his efforts in maintaining peace and stability ,despite the complex security nature of the State, also assured  him of the unalloyed support and cooperation. of the community leaders in its sustenance.

He informed that they have already started engaging their people on the need to continue to uphold peace in the state.

The Eze Igbo Kano,who is also the Chairman of Eze Ndigbo in the diaspora, assured the Commissioner of police of the preparedness of the ethnic minority traditional rulers to play their roles in sustaining peace and stability in the state.

Igwe Ibekwe further  promised that the leaders will continue to sensitize their people on the need to foster peaceful co-existence with the host community.

ONAC Urge FG To Caution Governor Oborevwori Over Alleged Plot To Take Over Its Territories

Delta State Governor,  Sheriff Oborevwori has been indicted by Pan Yoruba Group, O’odua Nationalist Coalition, ONAC, for allegedly plotting to take over Itsekiri territories in the State.

The Group alerted the Federal Government

to address the grievances of Itsekiri people over plots by Governor Oborevwori in collaboration with some ethnic groups to take, by force, territories belonging to the Itsekiris.

ONAC alleged that the Governor of Delta State appears to be on a vengeance-seeking mission with the sole aim of rewriting the almost 1000-year old history of the Itsekiri people that is well documented and preserved by local and international authorities.

The Pan Yoruba group said on Friday said that Governor, in collaboration with some unscrupulous officials in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, are plotting the delineation of Wards to reduce the Itsekiri voting potentials and to further stunt the future of the ethnic group.

In a statement after its National meeting held at Ibadan, Oyo State Capital, signed by Chief Akinola Adelugba and Usman Oriola,  ONAC said the Yoruba Nation is following with keen interests conscious plans to alienate and subdue the Itsekiri people by all means necessary.

The group said the plan will only fuel a major crisis that may create instability in the Niger-Delta region.

It further accused the State Governor of carrying out policies that overrule various existing Judgements of the Supreme Court on land ownership in Warri Kingdom. ONAC said there can never be two Kings in one Kingdom.

The statement reads in parts: “The Yoruba Nation is blood-bound with the Itsekiri. We stand shoulder-by-shoulder, heart-by-heart and hand-by hand to protect and vehemently defend the interests of each other wherever there is a threat. We warn of dire consequences if the Delta State Governor and his collaborators continue with the grand plot to destroy Itsekiri Nation”.

The group accused the State Governor of creating artificial Kings right on land owned by Itsekiri people.

ONAC said that since 1999, the government had tried to pick people from the streets and declare them Kings in order to polarise the heritage of Itsekiri people and undermine the ancient authority of the Itsekiri.

“Royalty is being created where there were one. Crowns are being purchased from street hawkers to establish fake Kingdoms on Itsekiri land. The Governor should stop his primordial instincts of face serious consequences for his criminal actions”, ONAC said.

Itcalso alleged the ethnic policies of the State Government that risk sending Delta State to an era of atomic society in perpetual conflict with itself.

The Group which is a coalition of several Pan Yoruba groups established in the year 1999.

The coalition said since 1999, successive governments in Delta State with the exception of former Governor, Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan have tried to subdue the Itsekiri through various policies that are calculated to destroy them.

“The Yoruba Nation and Itsekiri will not accept this. We are going to work with our Itsekiri brothers, live together and fight together our common enemies. Any attack on Itsekiri is an attack on the Yoruba Nation”, the group stated.
