PDP Accuses Gov Aiyedatiwa Of Bribing Youths, Clergymen In Ondo Not To Take Part In Nationwide Protest

Lucky Aiyedatiwa

By Ayodele Oni

The people’s Democratic party (PDP) in Ondo state has accused Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of buying over the  youths and clergy men in the state in order not to take part in the nationwide protest.

The PDP pointed out that this is despite the hardship the people are facing as a result of the harsh economic policies.

In a statement  on Saturday by the publicity secretary of the party, Peretei Ikandu stated that “The End Bad Governance protests that broke out across the country on Thursday, 1st August, 2024 have left further misery, anguish and death in many cities.

“The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Ondo State Chapter, asserts that, these protests would have been averted if the President Bola Tinubu led All Progressives Congress (APC) government had been sensitive to the yearning and suffering of the people.

“He should therefore be held responsible for the casualties, calamity and the attendant trauma occasioned by these protests.

“It is indeed a sad reality that Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, had to personally dish out cash inducements to some youths, Clergy men and others from the State Treasury in order to forestall protest at the State capital, Akure.

“He was later reported to have thanked the people of the State for not joining the protest. What a pity?

“There is no part of the country that needs the protest more than Ondo State in the face of an administration that has practically grounded the State in every ramification.

“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is yet to account for the N5 billion that the Federal Government released to all the States as palliatives in the wake of the uproar from Nigerians after the withdrawal of fuel subsidy.

“The monthly allocation from the Federation Account that averages N10 billion every month since December, 2023 have no impact on the State. Infact, the allocation for last month was N11 billion.

“The only visible project in the State is the renovation of the Government House, especially the perimeter fence which is reported to cost a whooping N1 billion.

“Are these not enough reasons for the citizens to protest till Aiyedatiwa tells us where he has warehoused the people’s money?

“But Ondo State with her very sophisticated citizenry will not allow themselves to engage in a violent protest that will set the State backward and therefore decided to stay peacefully at home to protest the bad Governance they have experienced in the last nine years.

“Is it the Sit-at-home protest that Aiyedatiwa is celebrating as ‘not participating’ in the protest? He should stop sunning himself in the vain glory to have thwarted a protest in Ondo State through his street credibility.

“Aiyedatiwa should stop playing to the gallery and use his remaining few months to touch lives of the citizens who are truly hungry and angry but based on their past and recent experiences preferred to remain at home as a kind of protest.”

“How My Executive Director Violated (Rap×d) Me” – ARM Pension Staff

ARM Pensions

By Adesina Soyooye

A scandal of unbelievable proportion is rocking ARM Pension, an otherwise reputable firm. One of its female staff has publicly accused one of their Executive Directors of abducting her from a party, dumped her in a hotel, and violated her without her consent.

Her problem started when at the party held by the Company, she left her food, drink and personal belongings on the table to help see to it that everybody was being well taken care of. When she came back to her seat, she took her drink, and that was when she began to lose awareness of her environment. It was so bad that she was advised not to drive herself back home.

A good Samaritan, or so she thought, was detailed by her colleagues to take her home after the Party since they live around same place. That good Samaritan was the Company’s Executive Director. But instead of taking her home, he took her to a hotel, booked a room and violated her for over an hour.

She said she woke up at about 3.00am and found herself naked, alone, and in a strange environment – hotel.

She began to ask questions and concluded that not only was her drink “spiked”, her Executive Director who was detailed to drop her in her house, had taken advantage of her situation.

The single mother of two children is crying blue mother. She said she has been forced to lose her self esteem, mentally tortured and violated. She wants justice. She has petitioned her Company. And the Police is on the case.

The Executive Director has been arrested by the Lagos State Command and was already in detention as at the time of filing this story.

The Management of ARM Pension has acknowledged the petition but pointed out that the sordid incident did not take place in its premises. It has also placed the Executive Director on suspension and, professionally, giving support and helping the violated staff to regain her self esteem.

In a no-hold-back petition, the staff told the story of her ordeal which follows below. Even though she made her name  and phone number public in the petition, as well as that of her alleged violator and his phone number, we chose here to withhold them, just as we also chose not to publish  the photograph of the Executive Director.

Her stort then:

“Dear Opeyemi,

“My name is (Withheld by us) . I am 36 years of age and I work at ARM Pension as an HR Business Partner. I would like to officially report that I was se#ually assaulted i.e. I was abducted and ra#ed by (nane withheld by us), ED technical at ARM Pension  on the night of July 18, 2024 when we had the an office party. (Withheld by us) of ARM Pension, No 5 Mekuwen road, off Oyinkan Abayomi drive, Ikoyi had penetrative se#ual intercourse with me, without my consent.

“The assault was done at a certain hotel I woke up to find myself at called Limeridge hotel at Chevron drive, Lagos.

“On the evening of the office party, just like every other staff member at the party I had food and drinks. I had mixed a small amount of Jameson whiskey and coke. This whiskey bottle was opened by Francisca Azie on the table I was seated at with other colleagues. However, being part of the planning committee I had to stand up from my table at intervals to coordinate the serving of food and at such times left my drink, food and other personal effects in the care of Damilola Oluyori (07085757685) who is a colleague and one I am very friendly with.

“My last memory of the party was at about 7.30,8ish. However, Dami claimed that I mentioned to her that I was tipsy and could not drive. So she offered to find a way for me to go home and then approached (withheld by us) to drop me off since he lived around the same axis as me. I live at Femi Okunnu Phase 4 estate Jakande lekki. Along with the Jameson whiskey which was like ¼ of a plastic cup, I had one cocktail from the bar that is the last I remembered. I lost total memory of every conversation and activity as my last memory of the night was from 7.30pm. My entire memory was wiped out which was very unusual even for someone who might have drunk excessively which I didn’t and have quite a good alcohol tolerance from precedent. Next thing I know I wake up and realize I am in a room fully undressed. I look around and I realize it was a hotel. I find my clothes in a pile and my wig, my phone and my handbag. I checked the time it was around 3am and my private parts were sore and felt like someone had invaded me. I walked out of the room, looked around for a clue of the name of the hotel to even have a sense of where I was, I saw the name Limeridge hotel, I googled it and I found that it’s on chevron drive. I ask the receptionist and security man to help me get a taxi so I can go home. I further checked my whatsapp messages and I saw that the perpetrator had sent me a message that he was with my laptop bag and ID Card. Damilola had sent me a couple of messages that sounded frantic wanting to know if I was okay and if (withheld by us)dropped me at home. I sent her a message to tell her that I do not understand why my memory is wiped out and it’s unusual.

“When it was morning, I tried to call (withheld) twice and he didn’t pick up. I messaged him that I’d like to talk to him and shortly after he called me. When he called I asked him how I ended up in a hotel since I was in his car as my colleagues said and he was to drop me at home. He said he asked me for my address and I was incoherent and so he took me to that hotel. I further asked why I was naked when I woke up and he said he didn’t know, that he just dropped me and left. I later spoke to my colleagues Damilola and Odera because I needed to find my car and I was told that my car was safe in the office. Damilola further mentioned that she sent videos of me and her dancing at the party to ( withheld) as he requested her to.  I have no recollection of her making any video except for some pictures we had earlier taken at the start of the party and an 11 seconds video. However, she shared videos with me this morning of me and her dancing and another colleague was in the video. Again my memory is blanked out on this. I messaged (withheld) later on Friday morning to ask how I could get my laptop bag and ID card and he said he had given the security guards in the office to put it in my car.

“I went back to the hotel that Friday morning after I dropped off my kids at school and I asked to see the CCTV footage to ascertain when he brought me there and if he really just left after dropping me. The receptionist first confirmed that he paid for the hotel room at 22.05, showed me evidence and then went ahead to show me the footage, I was seen leaning on him and he was holding my shoes and a hand on my back guiding me into the hotel and hotel room at about 15.52 and was seen leaving at 17.36. Now, this time I am quoting is because the CCTV time in the hotel was not West African time, WAT, but the time interval was about 1 hour 45 minutes he was in the hotel room with me.

“I called my family and informed them of this. I have had a ra#e kit test done at Island maternity on Friday. I made a formal report at the Ikoyi Police station on Saturday morning. My private part was bruised and I have been in pain. I have also formally reported to the Head of HR, who is my boss with the MD and another Executive Director in copy. My life has been disrupted badly. I am a single mother with two kids and my mental and physical state has been impacted by this incident and I need to take care and show up for my kids in all of this.

“I sent him another message that Friday morning asking why he didn’t ask Dami or any of my other colleagues for my address if truly he had the intention to drop me at my house which he had no response to. I did not remotely have any conversation with (withheld) or give any consent to be involved with him in any remotely personal way. He asked me at the party to come sit with him and I refused and sat with my colleagues who I was comfortable with.

“He took me against my will, most likely put-spiked my drink with the help of someone or by himself and took me to a destination I didn’t know or want to be and ra#ed me. It is beyond sad that I could not be safe at an office function and instead my whole world has been overturned.

“I am on some very strong medication given to me at Island maternity, antibiotics and HIV Post exposure prophylaxis and have requested some time from work to recuperate.  I believe he is a serial ra#ist and I might not be the first person he would have done this too.

“I am requesting that Lagos state take this case up fully and this predator who has tried to ruin my life and cause me this trauma be persecuted to the full extent of the law, he and whoever aided him.

“Thank you for taking time to read this.”

EndBadGovernance Protest:  No Recorded Death In Katsina – Police

Nigerian Police

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The Police in Katsina  State has debunked the news that one of its personnel was shot dead by a colleague during the ongoing nationwide protest.

A video showing a Police Officer, lying down motionless, allegedly shot dead mistakingly by a colleague, has been in circulation.

But in a statement on Saturday August 3, 2024, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, ASP, Spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command, urged members of the public to disregard the news item.

He pointed out that no person, protesters or Security Personnel, has so far been  killed  contrary to the news being circulated.

“The Command wishes to address a misleading viral video circulating on social media platforms of a security agent lying motionless on the ground alleged to have been shot dead  by a police officer while trying to disperse protesters

“The  video is manipulated and taken out of context as there was no such shooting incident through out the Command during the protest.

“The fact is that the security agent shown in the video is an officer of the Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, who fell from a patrol vehicle due to an accident involving the vehicle at the scene of the protest.

He was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital (formally Federal Medical Centre ) Katsina, where he was treated and discharged”, the statement noted.

The Command, while urging the public to disregard the misleading information, also assured of its readiness, in concert with other sister security agencies to ensure adequate protection of lives and properties.

The Source reports that Katsina is one of the State’s in the North West region of the country where the  protest against hunger and bad governance which commenced on August 1, assumed a violent dimension.

Other States which have been visited with orgies of looting, arson, vandalization and general violence by protesters are Kaduna, Kano, Borno  Yobe, and Niger.

EndBadGovernance Protest: “How Governor Yusuf Ignited Violence And Looting In Kano”

0
Abba Yusuf - Governor of Kano State
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The duo of Abdullahi Abass and Rabiu Suleiman Bichi ,the Kano state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC and Director General Tinubu/Shetima Campaign Council Kano State, on Friday August 2, 2024 collectively domiciled the blame for the orgy of violence, mindless looting, and vandalization visited on the commercial city particularly on day one of the #EndBadGovernance protest on the door steps of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Although, coming from the other side of the political divide, the accusation comes with a measure of accuracy, at least, to keen watchers of events ,before August 1.

Before the organizers of the August 1 protest against hunger served notice of the exercise, many indices had indicated that the ever volatile Kano was not in a vantage position to soak even the smallest pressure from the protest.

For one, the temperature of the city had  already been raised to a near boiling point by the avoidable tension, anxiety, and brick-bat occasioned by the orchestrated  royal rumble over the coveted Kano Emirate Stool.

The royal crisis which, for the first time in decades,  has brought about the reign of two Emirs in Kano, was itself ignited by ego massaging, mainly from the Governor Yusuf- led administration.

Working in concert with a somewhat lame duck and rubber stamp House of Assembly, and being prodded on by a mentor with a clear over bloated ego, Governor Yusuf on Thursday July 23,  2024,  lit the tinder box with the dethronement of Emir Aminu Ado Bayero of Kano, and four others of Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi.

There unceremonious deposition paved the way for Governor Yusuf to rail road Emir Muhammad Sanusi back to the Kano Royal Seat from which he was shoved aside  in 2020.

But ,while the other deposed Emirs of Gaya,Rano ,Bichi and Karaye decided to withdraw to their shells, not so for the elder scion of late Emir Ado Bayero who opted to battle it out with the Kano State Government and Emir Sanusi.

The result has been an institutionalization of two parallel Royal Palaces with Emir Bayero holding court at the Nasarawa Mini Palace, while Emir Sanusi is holed-up at the City Palace

Governor Yusuf and his political godfathers have since located the intransigence of Emir Bayero in the Federal Government’s subtle support.

His camp has pointedly accused President  Bola Tinubu of backing deposed Emir Bayero, and by extension, fanning the royal crisis.

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP, had even chided and warned the President, that his plans of reaping a political capital from the Kano Royal debacle will boomerang.

Against the backdrop of the bad blood already generated by the Kano Royal Stool crisis between the President Tinubu- led Federal Government and the Kano State authorities, it was no surprise that Governor Yusuf, without much reflections threw his weight behind the planned nationwide protest.

His clear obsession with using the planned protest to, in the main get even  with his traducer- in-chief, the Tinubu led – administration took precedence over all other more rational considerations.

But  while Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and some others that shared in the conviction to use the planned protest to get even with the Presidency, moderated their intentions, not so for Governor Yusuf.

Perhaps, being guided by the volatile trajectory of Kano, Kwankwaso had appealed for restraint, preferring, instead, for the people to explore the ballot to remove President Tinubu in 2027.

Conversely, while receiving the Local Leaders of the nationwide protest at the Government House on Wednesday, July 31, the Kano State Governor did not only explicitly endorse the protest, but also promised to receive the protesters at the State’s seat of power.

But in toeing his preferred line, the Governor chose to gloat over, the already polarized and charged atmosphere of the state along the supporters of the two contending forces for the kano royal stool.

The result manifested on day one of the protest with the city and its innocent residents bearing the brunt of an ill  conceived executive decision.

While Governor Yusuf could not muster the courage to receive the rampaging protesters, afterall, at the Government House as thoughtlessly promised, they proceeded to loot, destroy and vandalize  several private and public properties running into billions of Naira.

Of particular note were the vandalization, and looting of the NCC-ICT multi million Naira Building and several vehicles at the State’s High Court premises among others.

In all Kano, as widely anticipated by not a few, except Governor Yusuf, bore the larger part of the the rage and violence that characterized day one of the protest .

In their statement, Abbas and Bichi noted that the open attack on the Police and other Security Agencies by Governor Yusuf contributed to the violence that engulfed the State.

They cautioned the State Governor not to allow his personal grudges against some persons, including the State Commissioner of Police, to  undermine the security of lives and properties.

Governor Yusuf while addressing the leaders of the protest had, also, berated Security Agencies in the State over what he  termed their tendencies to be undermining his authority, and taking orders only from those at the Federal level.

He pointedly accused the Security Agencies, particularly, the Police, of insubordination and disrespect to his office, among other inflammatory statements.

“It was undiplomatic for a sitting Governor to openly attack the police authority which has been rendering its duties based constitutional provisions.

Governor Yusuf’s open invitation to protesters to the Government House ,coupled with his careless comments ,which undermines the authority of the police in Kano encouraged arson, looting  and violence during the protest'” Abbas and Bichi stated .

They also accused the Governor of trying to exploit the planned protest for political gains, which unfortunately back fired to the detriment of the image and economy of the state .

With the massive destruction of both private and public properties ,it thus appear that the hunter ,has become the hunted .

Students numbering 200, comprising of 100 males and 100 girls across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, have been picked for scholarship award to study at the undergraduate level at African School of Economics in Nigeria.

Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, presented the awards to beneficiaries at a ceremony in Abuja.

“I am glad to present to you for this award this evening 100 male and 100 female students that have been drawn from all the states of the federation and I can assure you all that the selection was based on merit without bias.”

The beneficiaries are to study for different undergraduate degree programmes at the African School of Economics, Nigeria, where they will have the opportunity to receive training from institutional partners in USA, Europe, Asia and other parts of Africa.

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, could not hide her excitement as seven students from the state were among the beneficiaries for the scholarships under the AUDA-NEPAD/African School of Economics/Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Scholarship Scheme.

The Ekiti State First Lady joined the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu and First Ladies from other states of the federation to unveil 200 beneficiaries at the ceremony.

PDP Asks President Tinubu To Speak On Issues Which Led To Nationwide Protest

Debo Ologunagba

By Ayodele Oni

As the EndBadGovernance protest enters third day, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has expressed worry over the continued silence of President Bola Tinubu on the matter.

In a statement released on Saturday, by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP urged Tinubu to break his silence, address the nation immediately, and reassure citizens of the pressing issues affecting them.

“The PDP demands that President Tinubu immediately address Nigerians on urgent steps to reduce the price of petroleum products, stem the fall of the Naira and ensure speedy provision of food among other critical issues so as to revamp the productive sector, stimulate employment and restore stability in the polity.

“Our Party expresses concerns that President Tinubu’s silence is sending a very dangerous signal and heightening public apprehension that the All Progressives Congress (APC)

“The APC government is insensitive to the feelings of the citizens and the overall sorry state of affairs in the nation.

“It is indeed worrisome that President Tinubu could remain silent as Nigerians are on the streets demanding for good governance, protection, security and welfare, which are the primary purpose of government.

“The world is watching in horror as operatives of APC-controlled security agencies assault, shoot and kill unarmed protesters, with thugs allegedly mobilized by the APC also unleashing violence on innocent Nigerians.

“Our Party calls on President Tinubu to end his silence, immediately address the nation and reassure the citizens on issues agitating their minds particularly the reduction in the price of petroleum products and food items.

“Our Party insists that with a deft, transparent and innovative management of resources, economic potentials, comparative advantage and refining capacity, petrol should not sell more than N200 per liter in Nigeria especially with a strategic investment in gas production.

“President Tinubu should also urgently commence the process of recovering the over N50 trillion reportedly stolen by APC leaders, reduce tariffs on essential goods, cut the cost of governance, review all luxury items in his government and channel funds recovered to programmes that have direct bearing on the wellbeing of Nigerians.

“Furthermore, while calling for a thorough investigation into the reported killing of unarmed Nigerians by certain unscrupulous security operatives, the PDP urges the security agencies to ensure high level of professionalism in their duty of providing security and protection to the citizens.

“ The PDP again calls on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding in the pursuit of responsive and people-oriented government which has eluded the nation since the coming of the APC in 2015.”

A number of organizations and people, including the two main opposition Leaders in the Country, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, had, earlier, urged Mr President to speak to the Nation on the Nationwide Protest against hunger.

Addressing The Fake Video Circulation About Me And Threat Against The Igbo – Peter Obi

0
Peter Obi

I have noticed some deliberate and well-orchestrated efforts by some persons to blackmail me into conforming to some of their nefarious agendas. Their dubious moves have led to the false circulation of a video from my recent keynote speech at the installation of Rotarian Professor A. U. Nnonyelu in Anambra State. They have twisted the video to suit their motive to suggest that I declared war on Northerners when, in fact, I spoke about declaring war on economic stagnation, insecurity, and corruption.

Another video circulating online, supposedly showing me leading a protest in Abuja, is also false. The video was actually taken during my visit to the Labour Party HQ, where I mediated a clash between the Labour Party and the NLC.

The video was conveniently edited to create a false narrative, and those responsible have been paid to spread this misinformation. This kind of misinformation has no place in our democracy, where truth and honesty should prevail.

This misrepresentation is part of a larger narrative of blackmail, aimed at fitting me into their malicious agenda. I remain committed to a new Nigeria where justice, equity, and caring for the citizens will prevail over the greed of a few.

Similarly, and deeply disturbing, I have read genocidal threats on X against the Igbo tribe, calling for their relocation. Let me pointedly warn that such rhetoric threatens our unity and is fundamentally opposed to our Constitution, which guarantees every Nigerian the right to live and work freely anywhere in the country. Those in authority must show leadership and urgently speak out against such divisive rhetoric.

Immediate action should be taken to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those behind this heinous agenda, serving as a deterrent to others who might consider pursuing similar paths that threaten our national security and unity.

I urge all Nigerians to stand united against this divisive rhetoric and to champion unity, tolerance, and understanding. Our future depends on our ability to live and work together harmoniously.

The government and security agencies must act swiftly to protect this fundamental principle and ensure that every Nigerian can live free from fear of discrimination or persecution. We must not allow our present challenges to drive wedges among us.

We can only overcome our national challenges if we act together as one people United under God.

Sowore, Adegboruwa Issue Counter Directives Over Nationwide Protest: “Withdraw”, Orders Adegboruwa, “Continue”, Sowore

0
Ebun Olu-Adegboruwa and Omyele Sowore

By Ayodele Oni

Convener of revolution now, Omoyele Sowore and Rights Activists, Ebun Olu-Adegboruwa seem to have disagreed over the ongoing nationwide protest which entered the second day on Friday.

Sowore in his X account far away from the United States of America stated “Thank you all for staying the course in the last 24 hours since the commencement of the #endbadgovernaceinnigeria REVOLT.

“Note: the daily barricades, marches, rallies and people’s congresses should be intensified.

“We want to notify the public that in addition to street marches, those at home should engage in pot & pan protests against hunger, poverty and starvation.”

Adegboruwa in his own reaction stated that “I appeal to the protesters to withdraw themselves from their various protest grounds and to suspend the protests immediately and indefinitely, in order to give room for meaningful dialogue and engagement with the government.

“Given that the protests were said to have been hijacked by sponsored agents, it is necessary to avoid further losses and casualties.

“Notice of this protest was given many weeks ago, yet nothing was done to engage the organizers of the protests in order to address the issues raised in their charter of demands.

“It is the same way that the government ignores several strike notices issued by the Labour unions until they eventually snowball into strike actions. This should not be so.

“I therefore call upon President Bola Tinubu to directly address the nation and then engage the protesters, through their representatives.

“Thereafter, the government should set up a Committee comprising men and women of integrity to meet with the protesters to address the issues that they have raised.

“I commend the people of Nigeria who trooped out in their large numbers to join the protests and those who stayed at home in solidarity by way of peaceful civil disobedience.

“No leader should ever take the people for granted. In the peculiar circumstance of the hunger and hardship being experienced by our people across the land, the protests were more than justified.”

Army On Standby As Nationwide Protest Continues, May Step-in If Situation Escalates – CDS

General Christopher Musa
General Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff.

By Ayodele Oni

The Chief of Defence staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has advised those that are presently engaged in nationwide protest to know that there is a difference between peace and criminality.

While appealing to Nigerians to be civil and peaceful in the course of exercising their rights, he has also warned those who may want to hide under the guise of protest to perpetrate violence, to rescind their decisions

The CDS gave the warning and appeal in Abuja on Friday while briefing newsmen on the ongoing nationwide protest against hunger and bad governance.

General Musa pointed out that the Security Operatives, especially the police, have been very professional in handling the protest, calling on Nigerians to show understanding with the Federal Government.

“The government has actually shown its own commitment by upholding its promise of allowing people to associate freely. Clearly, the security forces have done extremely well and I’m very happy to mention one, especially the Nigerian police force, have shown a lot of professionalism, including where members of the armed forces had to step in.

“You can see that we have remained very professional in our conduct and we will continue to do that, as long as the citizens also understand that there is a difference between peace and criminality.

“What we saw yesterday was, at the beginning, some semblance of a very peaceful demonstration, but which was quickly taken over by a bunch of criminals that don’t mean us well.

“And if you remember, we have warned that there are individuals that are ready to cause mayhem once this starts. And so I want to appeal to Nigerians to understand that the federal government is doing the best it can for the country.

“The Federal government is present for one year and it is not possible for them to have to solve every financial, economic, security situation within one year. But I’m sure, I don’t worry, we are truthful to ourselves. Efforts have been made and have continued to be made.

“And I’ve seen policies that have been made to address the economic situation on the ground, including security situation. Things are improving. We are not where we are, but I can assure you we are heading there. And if we have the support of everyone together, we can bring total peace and the economy will grow.

“Just a few days ago, I was in the Niger Delta to also ensure that our production increases immediately so that we can have enough funds to fund our economy. So I want to call on all Nigerians to understand the government.” he stressed

On those planning to forment trouble, the Chief of Defence Staff stated that the military will not fold its hands and watch the country drift into anarchy, pointing out that the military is watching, and will step in if the situation gets out of Nigerians.

He said the armed forces and the entire security agencies will not stand by and see that to continue. “We want to warn those that are in the house, those that don’t want to listen. We will not fold our hands and see our country destroyed.

“We will take action and the action will be taken professionally. Anyone that is caught will be taken to the courts to be dealt with. And so once again, I want to thank you for coming, especially members of the media.

“And again, for the media, I want to also appeal. I noticed throughout yesterday, all the stations were hooked up to the occasion. This is not an election thing.

“We don’t give them that coverage for them to feel. Some of them are looking for just moments of being on the screen. Together, I can assure you, they are going to win. And they are winning. At least from today, we have seen the level. It has really gone down.”
