This Magazine has learnt that President Bola Tinubu may be headed for a collision course with politicians whose cronies and interests were ignored by the Federal Government in the restructured Social Intervention Programmes which are under the supervision and management of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation as the said politicians are, allegedly, clandestinely plotting an Executive Bill to the Senate to seek the separation of the programmes from the Ministry.

The plotters want them to become a full-fledged Government Agency  under the direct supervision of the Presidency.

The programmes are the National Social Investment Programmes Agency,(NSIPA) and the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO).

It was gathered that the elements plotting to  excise the two entities from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation hope to work towards getting themselves and their cronies appointed as pioneer Executive Secretary or Director-General (depending on the nomenclature the Senate opts for should the plot sail through) of the would-be agencies if they succeed in getting the Senate to upgrade the two Programmes to Federal Government Agencies.

“The Presidency has restated that the National Social Investment Programmes Agency,(NSIPA) and National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), remain under the supervision of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

“The President is not aware of any executive bill to the Senate to bring NASSCO or N-POWER under the Presidency”, a presidential source told the magazine

According to the source who pleaded that his name should not be mentioned “because of the sensitivity of the issue”, “the Presidency views this as a shocker as it would, of course, not be in good faith at this crucial time when Nigerians are expectant.
