Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, not only accused the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, of corrupting the process which threw former Vice President Atiku Abubakar up as the Party’s Presidential candidate, but he also accused him of financial corruption.

On corrupting the process through which Atiku emerged, Wike said the National Chairman was calling Presidential aspirants on the phone to step down for Atiku. He said Ayu also corrupted the list of delegates in favour of Atiku. “I am a good Party man. We did not want to spoil things, otherwise, we could have stopped the Convention”, Wike said at a Press Conference beamed live by Channels Television. Ayu, Wike disclosed, pulled everything to stop him, Wike, from emerging as the Party’s candidate.

Worse, Wike alleged  financial corruption against Dr Ayu. He said Ayu rushed to Lagos to collect millions of money from people, on the pretence that Governors were no longer funding the Party.

But sadly, Wike said, no kobo found its way into the Party’s account, Wike alleged.

The Rivers State Governor has been at loggerheads with the Party and its Presidential Candidate since he lost out in the Presidential Primary as well as the Vice Presidential slot.

He disclosed that Atiku, on his own, without any prompting had offered him the  Vice Presidential slot, but reneged on that.
