Outstanding Entitlements: Ondo Retirees Get N1.2 Billion

Ondo State Government is set to distribute cheques worth N1.2 billion to some retirees from its employment.

Government statement on Tuesday explained that beneficiaries are those that left the service on 2014.

Aside this, the State Government has promised to vote N320 million monthly for pensioners’ benefits.

The statement, signed by Sina Adeyeye, Press Officer,

Office of the Head of Service, stated that “As part of efforts of the Ondo State Government to settle the backlog of gratuity of state retirees and give them new lease of life, the state Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the sum N1.2b to fully offset backlog of 2014 set of state retirees.

“Distribution of cheques to beneficiaries will be flagged off by the governor at an event to be held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure on Thursday 11th January, 2024 by 3pm.

“It would be recalled that all 2013 set of state retirees’ gratuity had been cleared last year, while 2011 and a fractional part of 2012 set of the local government retirees were also cleared.

“This is apart from about N320m monthly, totalling about N2.7b yearly, that government has set aside for the settlement of all other categories of the pensioners’ benefits.”
