In an ironical twist in Osun State, a Pastor, who had no confidence in the powers of God, whom he deceives his ignorant congregation that he worships, has been slaughtered by a herbalist to whom he went in search of powers.

With boldness written all over his face, the herbalist, 48 year-old Isiaka Ogunkoya, narrated to the Police when he was arrested and paraded at the Osun State Police Command Headquarters how he killed Pastor Kalejaye Ezekiel for ritual purposes.

According to him  Ezekiel visited him to seek spiritual powers in order to increase the  membership of his congregation. Unfortunately for Ezekiel, he went to see the herbalist at the wrong time. To the herbalist, however, it was the appropriate time.

At the time of Ezekiel’s visit, herbalist Ogunkoya was looking for somebody to use for rituals. And like manna from heaven, the Pastor walked in. He killed Ezekiel, and took the body parts he needed for the ritual.

But that was where herbalist Ogunkoya’s luck ended. On his way, obviously, to where he would perform the rituals,   Policemen from the Osun State Police Command, who were on a “stop and search” duty, flagged down the vehicle he was in. And, on searching the vehicle, Ogunkoya was caught with  body parts. On interrogation, he confessed they were the slaughtered remains of Pastor Ezekiel.

He told the Police on being paraded: “I killed the Pastor for rituals needed to make use of a human during that period, and the Pastor came around.

“He told me he needed more spiritual powers so as to have more members to his Church, so I thought it was a good opportunity for me to make use of the Pastor for the rituals I’m supposed to do that time.

“I gave him a substance to drink which he drank and slept off. So I butchered him and took out his heart and intestines which i used to make a concoction.”

Using human beings for ritual purposes have been on the increase, especially, in Southern Nigeria.
