The Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA), has condemned the burning of the Osun High Court complex in Ilesa on Monday.
Report revealed that yet to be identified arsonists set the complex Ablaze overnight, destroying valuable case files and documents.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered investigation into the matter with a view to bring culprits to book.
The NBA’s Osun State Chairman, Yemi Abiola on Tuesday, expressed serious concerns, stating that the attack poses a significant threat to the justice system and the rule of law in the region.
Abiona questioned the intentions behind the arson, noting that this is the second of such incident at the court, with a similar attack happening few years ago, when the chambers of a judge in Court 3 were destroyed by fire.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Abiona rejected the idea that it could have been a natural incident, suggesting instead that the perpetrators deliberately targeted important court documents.
He praised Governor Ademola Adeleke for swiftly ordering an investigation and increasing security around the court premises.
Abiona also called on the police to thoroughly investigate the crime and bring those responsible to justice, emphasizing the need to protect the integrity of the legal system.
