After his visit to President Bola Tinubu, which has attracted speculations over possible defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has again clarified his continued membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
He maintained that he is not defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to any other political party, contrary to recent media speculations.
Governor Adeleke, accompanied by his brother and uncle had visited President Tinubu in Lagos early in the week.
Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and PDP in Osun State have been expressing views on the visit by Adeleke dynasty and expecting any possible fallout.
The clarification was made by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, who debunked rumours suggesting an imminent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The media speculation about likely or imminent defection is fake news. Governor Adeleke remains a committed member and leader of the PDP in Osun State,” Rasheed stated.
He further explained that the recent visit by the Adeleke family to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was simply a routine courtesy call and should not be misinterpreted.
He emphasized that “Any reading of a defection agenda into the visit is mere fake news.”
Governor Adeleke’s reaffirmation of his loyalty to the PDP comes amid rising political tensions and realignments ahead of next year’s governorship election in Osun state.
