Osun: Adeleke Receives Certificate Of Return, As Oyetola Challenges Victory With 50 Lawyers

Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, the winner of the just concluded governorship election in Osun State,  was on Wednesday issued a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The dancing senator as Adeleke is widely known, received the certificate more than four days after his cousin, music superstar David Adeleke aka Davido expressed worry over INEC’s delay in issuing the certificate to the Governor-elect.

The development came four days after Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, in the keenly contested election to clinch the coveted office.

The certificate of return was presented to him at the INEC headquarters in Oshogbo.

Adetola has, however, appealed for calm among his supporters untill stakeholders confer to determine the next line of action which may include, but not limited to, going to Court to challenge the out of the election.

International election monitors and civil society in Nigeria have described the election as peaceful, fair and free.

Governor Oyetola  has not congratulated Adeleke.

He believed he won.

The magazine learnt on Thursday that the governor has now assembled about 50  lawyers, includes Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SANs to challenge Adeleke’s victory at the State Election Tribunal

Similarly, the appeal Court sitting in Akure has dismissed the case filed against Adeleke, seeking to disqualify him.

Dotun Babayemi, who filed the case against the nomination of Adeleke as PDP candidate for Osun 2022, claimed he was validly nominated as PDP  candidate for the election.

He lost the case at the lower court, but went on appeal
