The family of Legendary Musician and Actress, Onyeka Onwenu, has announced that the award winning artists will buried by August ending.
This was disclosed by the family while receiving a team from the Musical Society of Nigeria, MCSN, who paid a condolence visit at the Ikoyi, Lagos residence of the late singer.
The MCSN delegate led by Orits Wiliki, Chairman, Board of Trustees of MCSN, met with Onwenu’s sons, Abram and Tjiani. Both sons expressed their intention to respect their late mother’s wishes by committing her remains to mother earth as soon as possible.
According to them, the burial arrangement would be announced in the coming days.
It would be recalled that Onwenu died last Tuesday after performing at the 80th Birthday Celebration of the Chief Executive Officer of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Chief Stella Okoli. She slumped on her seat after her performance.
She was rushed to Reddington Hospital where she eventually passed on after efforts to save her life.
The late singer in a published piece in Premium Times, 2021, emphasized that her burial should be devoid of unnecessary fanfare.
“Do it quickly, quietly and privately. Mourn, yes but not excessively. Celebrate me with prayers, lunch or dinner afterwards. Share some jokes about me and laugh,” Onwenu was quoted as saying back then.
