Kebbi State Government has vowed not to be distracted by alleged campaign of calumny by the opposition People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), in its bid to gain cheap popularity.
The State Government maintained that one year in office of Governor Nasir Idris has been able to rectify some of the misdeeds of the PDP in its 12 years sojourn in the state.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ahmed Idris in a statement, said “What the APC government has actualized in just one year could not be accomplished in the 12 dark years of the PDP era of no return.
“Education has never seen such beautiful times like it is seeing today. The PDP is blind to the increase in teacher’s salary. It is claiming ignorance to the review of the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 65 and 40 years of service from 35.
“The PDP was sleeping when the government kick-started its policy of teacher training and re-training through well-organized and properly packaged training workshops.
The lame opposition party was in slumber when the government awarded contracts for the construction of 4 mega schools, the first of its kind in our history as a state.
“The construction work has since started in the headquarters of our four emirates and shall be completed to the glory of God and the benefit of our people.
“The urban renewal project of the present administration is a moving train which no tongue or hand can stop. Yauri town is set for a new lease of life.
“Government is encouraged by the feedback from our towns and villages. We wish to assure the people of good quality of work to be ensured through efficient and effective supervision by site engineers and other officials of the government. This wind of change will pass through Argungu and Zuru soonest.
“In our efforts to improve on the healthcare fortunes of our dear state, His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris abolished the casualization of health workers, approved the employment of 500 new health workers and ordered for an upward review of the salaries of medical doctors to be the same with those in federal health institutions as a way of controlling the exodus of health workers to Federal Government owned hospitals.
“The stage is set for a reformed, re-structured, rejigged and transformed educational system in Kebbi State. The PDP may not see all these but the people of Kebbi State who deserve good governance are seeing and appreciating the efforts of their own government.
“The government which has promptly paid students registration in all Nigerian tertiary institutions and settled tuition fees for all indigenes studying abroad under the Kebbi State scholarship, is most certainly a responsible and responsive government.”
